Land of the Unfree
American's embrace Big Brother in the sky:
Close to half of Americans say they are in favour of police departments deploying surveillance drones domestically. According to a survey conducted by The Associated Press and The National Constitution Center, 44 percent support the idea of police using unmanned aerial vehicles to track suspects and carry out investigations. Only 36 percent said that they “strongly oppose” or “somewhat oppose” police use of drones, according to the survey. And they vote. Do you know, I used to wonder how Germans could possibly have been dumb enough to support the National Socialists, to say nothing of overwhelmingly voting for the four plebiscites that solidified their power. It's not exactly a mystery these days.

How many times do we have to say it? The Empire isn't worth saving. The doom is richly.... richly deserved.
I posted a 'goobye america' note on Facebook a few days ago, and got crickets. Then again, I'm a well known 'nutjob' in my social circle.
What's the big deal? Don't you know it's for our safety? I believe one of the Founding Fathers back in 1901 said that "those who give up liberty for security are the win." Publik skool says so. Now excuse me, my focus is lost on this and I have to flash back to something else on my iPad. Ooo, cat videos!

Just keep saying it; properly dealing with grief takes time.
Why would anyone believe ANYTHING the Associated Press says anymore? If they do occasionally hit upon the truth, it's nothing more than a lucky accident.
Relax, this is just the American implementation of SCORPION STARE.
I came to the conclusion several years ago, especially after reading what the Egyptians let Joseph do to them, and that is, most people prefer slavery over freedom.
Now slavery minded folks will talk a good game about being free, but keep poking them and the, "I want a king, I want someone to tell me what to do, I want someone to provide for my security and make me feel safe" will come out.
They'll support it until they learn that cops fly even worse than they shoot. Unmanned aviation is far harder than it looks.
F@#$ing idiots.
I don't care as long as the NFL refs are back.
I wonder how much revenue cities will be earning from tickets issued by patrolling drones.
Yeah, I'm with LES. As long as football games are on TV, I can fill my belly with beer and nachos, politicians keep on telling me America is #1, and my neighbors continue to "Support the Troops", I'm happy and all is right with the world.
Well, the OTHER party that could have seized power in post World War I Germany had a habit of murdering tens of millions of the citizens of a country it took over. It is hardly surprising that people who couldn't be sure the whether the Communists would kill them voted for the party that was very specific about who it would kill.
People like to know the party they are voting for isn't going to murder them. They are funny like that.
There was a good reason the FFs didnt allow women to vote and slaves were 3/5 person. These guys werent dumb.
It is not hard to figure out most never figure it out. There weer Germans that knew better but they weer afraid.
I say that love and pain are real the rest is just window dressing. "Be not afraid" He came to save us not our Nation.

The South was pushing for full representation of all slaves, so if it weren't for the southerners, slaves wouldn't have been counted at all.
Damn progressive Alabama men.

I really, really hope this is satire. nowadays you never know.
Amen.
Dont know that I buy this as legit. A quick ask around of people and no one even knows what one is. Any chance the polled thinks a "drone" is a new app or video game?
Well, whether or not the articles claiming any sort of efficient polling was done, I can't imagine most people would show their outrage, if they felt any, once they see HK Drones flying through the city.
"A sense of safety"
"I feel safer knowing ..."
"If it saves but one child ..."
"If you aren't doing anything wrong you have nothing to fear ..."
"Mean people suck ..."
'It is my body ... your responsibility'
"It's not my fault"
"I didn't do anything wrong"
"You can't tell me what to do"
"You can't talk to me that way"
"It's not fair"
"You're mean"
At what point did almost half the people mean that most or everybody wants a thing and it is okay?
If nearly 80-100 percent of the female population feel that something is a good idea ... then 51 percent means "most people polled", correct?

President Barack Obama has an unexpected foreign policy problem – in the Western United States. The Lakota Sioux nation has seceded from the United States, according to a story on the anti-American website La Voz de Aztlan.
“We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us,” long-time Native American radical leader Russell Means said. The move potentially impacts the states of Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.
Sioux secede again
Maybe they can be free and prove that secession is possible.
I imagine that the FedGov will not let that happen. "We had to destroy the tribe to save it."
Hmmmmm ... now just who is it that is/was a friend or close acquaintance of Russel Means? Whomever could that be?
If enough people ignore the government, it simply ceases to exist.
"I really, really hope this is satire. nowadays you never know."
It is. The sad part is that for many Americans it isn't.
If enough people ignore the government, it simply ceases to exist.
If enough people ignore the bullets from the man with a gun, he ceases to exist.
“Naturally the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” Hermann Goering
And...
“Today Americans would be outraged if U. N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all people of the world will plead with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by their world government.” – Henry Kissinger

Several years ago, I was at the Repuke Party County Convention.
Some liberty minded Ron Paul supporter got up and made a motion to put a plank in the Republican Platform opposing the use of red light cameras, speed trap cameras and any other type of non human ticket generating device.
Some idiot old geezer, a relative of the current moron governor, got up and talked about how we needed these cameras cause someone might get hurt of a "young punk" (his words) ran a red light, and that too many people were speeding out there and on and on and on..............
I blew a freaking gasket. Called the guy a totalitarian. Asked him if he wanted a video camera at every intersection and in every house so we could stop people from abusing their spouses. Then I turned to the geezer crowd in the room and asked them if any of them had read "1984" and did they really want "Big Brother" having that kind of power?
After some rather heated exchanges, the Repugnant's of my county voted to allow red light cameras, speed cameras and etc.
The majority opinion was that we need them for safety reasons.

Those who would give up a little liberty to purchase temporary safety ...
Polls like this exist to tell the masses how they should feel, not quantify existing opinion in an unbiased manner.
I'm not saying there aren't a lot of people out there who naively think accepting the governments use of killer robots is a good idea, and I've no interested in defending such people. I just don't have any reason to accept some poll results as indicative of anything other than the desires of the PTB.
How many UAVs do local, state and non-military federal government officials want to put into operation relative to the number of air planes and helicopters they currently utilize?
What weapons systems or monitoring systems can be placed on a UAV that cannot be placed on an airplane or helicopter?
Why is an Airplane or helicopter use a lesser evil than a UAV?
The majority opinion was that we need them for safety reasons.

Old men vote like women. Hence the risque saying:
If you can't find a woman, get a fat old man
When will entrepreneurs make personal drones available?
"To protect and serve."
We just got served.
They best not fly them drones within range of some high brass #4 shells. I might *miss the duck* and cost the gummint a whole lotta money.
If you see them at all, they will be way out of range of bird shot...
Gotta buy some drone stocks. May as well profit by it.
So why is it bad for the police to see things from the sky but OK from the ground?
to track suspects and carry out investigations
These fools have yet to figure out who the real suspects are an who the State seeks to "investigate", and why.
The Drones are hackable.
They're about to hand Anonymous a bunch of weapons.
[i]Why is an Airplane or helicopter use a lesser evil than a UAV?[i/]
All statist tools of oppression are evil, whether it be a taser, an armoured car, a BS warrant or an airbourne vehicle. A UAV uses less fuel than a helo and can operate unseen. Given the growing totalitarian states need to feed off revenue from it's subjects, it's only a matter of time till we see fines mailed to us with aerial shots of whatever minor infraction we committed while driving...
And on and on..
No surprise, Vox. Just look at all those senators who voted dictatorial powers to Palpatine.
Yorzhik: "So why is it bad for the police to see things from the sky but OK from the ground?"
Unreasonable search. On the ground, they have to get a warrant to enter your property. In the air, they can fly over it anytime they want.
Some police departments in the past have used FLIR-equipped helicopters to search for hotspots in buildings that may indicate an indoor pot-farm (based on excessive heat generated by grow lights). This was used as probable cause to generate a warrant to search the suspected property.
In Kyllo v. United States, SCOTUS held that such thermal imaging searches were unconstitutional without a warrant. But that doesn't mean that future technological advances can't be abused the same way, depending on the mechanism employed.
So why is it bad for the police to see things from the sky but OK from the ground?
And why would it be so bad to have a State security camera in front of every home and on every corner?
Non compliance with the man with the gun is the only way to go because he is going to shoot you anyway. Might as well piss in his face.
Goobers.
Buy guns and ammo.
Clay you are a threat to the man. Go get your Obama phone and shut up you redneck gun Bible clinger.
the Will of the Almighty People is manipulable with ease by governments, intel, mass media and others -- esp the will of the "voting public," that most malleable of beests
the secret of democracy is convincing The Wee People that they actually are invested politically, have power... simultaneously puppeteering their basest natures, desires, and fears
human psychology and behavior is highly predictable, and usually v routinistic, patterned and ritualistic, esp across the broad swath of the species... yup dems duh Enlightened Voters!
I say that love and pain are real the rest is just window dressing. "Be not afraid" He came to save us not our Nation.

if any nation isnt righteous, and gets uppity and oppressive, then like a real hot matchflame that suddenly aint, said nation goes pfft
"The one thing every man fears is the unknown."
henry you would say that wouldnt you
only the Godless fear the unknown
He's in the known and unknown, whats to fear?

I am listening to a rebroadcast of coast to coast with the friends against the NDAA. These are 20 something guys that I believe will have to be the ones that change the world. That generation is real tired of the BS. Us Old folk grew up without the internet and info, it was Walter Cronkite and 4 channels on the TV.
TLM September 29, 2012 5:25 PM There was a good reason the FFs didnt allow women to vote and slaves were 3/5 person. These guys werent dumb.
Oooo...you MIGHT want to check an actual history book
NOT issued to "public" schools in the last 30 years.
A recent survey, conducted by AP, who quite frankly has no business, or reputation, in conducting "surveys"... I wonder who's "model" they use to proclaim THEIR "margin" of um...error.
What's AP's "survey" on the %of ALL Americans that
respect reported "news service" polls of gub'mint programs, as much Russians did of say...Pravda, or Tass?
There's probbably a REASON that the de facto,
State newspaper of N.H. USA has declined AP's further "services" for "news".
I'm curious as to why a desperat "clinger" to that original "We the People..." thingy, such as myself, has never even HEARD of The National Constitution Center. Their salaries (comperable to union pro football refs?)come from WHERE?
It's all in the name I guess.
surveys with words such a stronly oppose, maybe oppose, should be banned. if you oppose something it is yes or no. do think you should free, somwhat free, jeez.
Outlaw, you realize Walter Cronkite was in on it....right?
"If enough people ignore the bullets from the man with a gun, he ceases to exist."
If the man with the gun ignores the government, it ceases to exist.
Getting your news from Alex Jones?
That's interesting how the MSM doesn't cover this.
What the hell is wrong with you people? Don't you know we are at war? We have always been at war with Eurasia!
If the man with the gun ignores the government, it ceases to exist.
You are correct, but history shows that the man with the gold controls the man with the gun. Money overcomes all moral objections.
I suppose patriotic Americans and Nat-Alt-Rightists through private funding could build and deploy their own drones to monitor Global-State kommissars, Orc mercenaries, and MultiKult enforcers (i.e., SPLC), but such ideas are too far outside the box.
> Why is an Airplane or helicopter use a lesser evil than a UAV?
It's not question of evil, it's a question of resources. The airplane or helicopter requires a pilot, and if they're lost usually so is the pilot, making them less expendable and therefore less likely to be casually misused.
'... but history shows that the man with the gold controls the man with the gun. Money overcomes all moral objections."
True, but the wealth is drying up.
Many a true word is spoken in jest:
Cartman: Are you saying that 1/4th of Americans are retards?!
Kyle: Yes, I'm saying 1/4th of Americans are retards.
Stan: Yeah, at least 1/4th.
The other skeptic September 30, 2012 1:38 PM
You are correct, but history shows that the man with the gold controls the man with the gun. Money overcomes all moral objections.
What people who seriously believe that seem to forget, is that its the man with the gun who decides who controls the gold.
It is not a mystery how so many good Germans voted for the National Socialists (or Communist) any more than it a mystery how so many good Americans voted Democrat (or Republican). Those were the choices on the ballot. I personally suspect, spending a bit of time in what was East Germany, that voters cast their ballots for the lesser of two (or more) evils, same as they do in this country. Discouraging, isn't it?
