Conspiracy theorists, you disappoint me

For literally years, I've been hearing rumors concerning how Obama was going to cancel the presidential election and rule over the subdued nation as a CommunIslamic dictator with an iron fist.  And now, with this so-called "hurricane" meme being pushed on a credulous nation by Obama's lapdogs in the mainstream, complete with photoshopped pictures of wind, rain, and eroded beaches and cheap Dan Rather-style videos of fake weather-buffeted reporters, giving Obama the perfect excuse to cancel the election next week, absolutely no one has managed to put two and two together?  No one thinks this is the perfectly-timed storm to put an end American democracy?  No one has even suggested that the man of mysterious birth who could make the oceans stop rising, and has now reportedly summoned the ocean's wrath in a suspiciously timely manner, is not the bastard son of Poseidon?

Conspiracy theorists, you make me sad.  A very poor showing all around, I'm sorry to say.

You are so out of touch with the mainstream conspiracy underground, man. Besides, everybody knows that it is Bush who makes hurricanes. Obama is the gentle ethereal breeze from moon unicorn farts.

Who says that America won't move more fully to open empire? I am of the opinion that we are more Rome circa 40 B.C than 400 A.D. Even after the next economic event who will take America's place? Europe, Japan, India, Russia, China? I don't see any of these nations/supranations being in the position to be the next top dog. And frankly that is my greatest fear, is that America comes to accept the idea of empire and openly, rather than covertly, work towards it as long as it is cast in the correct light. I don't think its highly unlikely that the late 19th century justification of empire as the 'white man's burden' being reinvented as the 'progressive nations burden'. Were covert aid and relatively short term military action is replaced by outright long term occupation and annexation.

To truly take territory and keep it it must be colonized. Do you want to go live in BFE, subdue it through violence in the name of empire while overtly making slaves of all that resist?

I know America is morally bankrupt but I just don't see this kind of naked aggression being enshrined into law, because it would need to be legal before you could get the financing.

The reason America isn't the empire bent on conquest is that America is being used as a tool in order to further the agenda of global unification.

For various reasons I've come to believe America is being set up for a fall. We are the global bully after all.

One final giant sacrifice so that the ideas of global governance gain enough mind-share to become a reality. The world is being conditioned into accepting a global government.

What is the pattern?

WW I then the League of Nations

WW II then the United Nations

WW III will finally get them a full blown global government

I like the HAARP glitch theory of October Surprise gone wrong. It would be fitting for the Wile E. Coyote in the White House to cook up a backfiring October/November Surprise. My unaffected area of Brooklyn is fine (Bay Ridge), but New York is a wreck. In an alternate universe, the hurricane hit New York City square on Election Day before plowing up the coast to Boston. The Democratic machine, not equipped to cheat on the dark Blue New York - Boston corridor, can do little as urban strongholds stay home and Romney wins New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and the election.

This doesn't mean that you should automatically believe any particular theory either, only that they have to be considered on their merits.

Anonymous Gapeseed October 30, 2012 7:01 PM

@ Grinder: Not saying I believe the theory, but I like it the plotlines and the believability that Obama (his own best political director, according to him) would come up with a convoluted and backfiring October surprise. Only when the military becomes divorced enough from the country (and its political process), it can happen. Since it is really the military that forces the president to step down. Presidents don't have any real power in and of themselves.

Now, for those with exceptional intestinal fortitude, I give you Bill Schnoebelen. The next question arises, if they have scalars, then why use nukes (per Joel Skousen). People, we are dealing with irrationals here. Don't try to comprehend these with logic. They could very well use a scalar on a nuke power plant. Their reasoning is twisted. These people are insane. Gotta love the pictures of the floating trash in NY. I'm not picking on it, however, since it isn't all that dirty compared to similar sized cities elsewhere in the world. It is amazing how much trash accumulates in the back corners and alleyways, until rainfall and flooding bring them all out in the open.

Now if only we could have a similar event for the political and financial shenanigans. But since we have a press corps that doesn't want to actually dig deep because they already know what they will find (gasp! both parties are very corrupt), the truth isn't on the 7 o'clock news..

I remember reading a Lucas provided summary of the three trilogies years ago. For whatever reason, when he made the second trilogy he seemed to deny that a third one was ever proposed, as the films were to take us through Darth Vaders life and death. The third trilogy was to be about Luke Jedi Master and bringing peace and justice to the galaxy or some such. That description being so broad that you could do anything with it. I based that on the fact that the Obonzo administration has proved that it has no morals, principles or conscience. Obonzo is capable of any crime, betrayal or outrage IF he and his handlers think they can get away with it. They're not even all that upset when they get caught (see Fast and Furious, illegal amnesty, etc.). They do not care what they do if they think it will gain them power and money. They are quite simply gangsters. I guess they don't think they can get away with an open coupe. They don't need it anyway. They're already destroyed the U.S. They will inherit what's left.

Precisely! The one with the biggest military will rule the roost until doing so is unsustainable. Our military could go the next century without active funding (they have more covert funding than they or anyone will admit!), and remain king of the hill with the weapons they have. It might be far longer - we might very well go another 400 years - matching Rome - because we can obliterate any other of the world's goofs who want to take on "our goofs."

Not pretty, nor conspiratorial - just what is.

Our military could go the next century without active funding (they have more covert funding than they or anyone will admit!), and remain king of the hill with the weapons they have.

It is my understanding that the overwhelming majority of US military development funding in this millennium has gone into drones. Now, I'm not sure how they are controlled, but I'm guessing satellites. Terrorists may not be able to shoot satellites down, but Russia and China could. All drones would immediately become a pile of junk.

Aeoli Pera: "a new discipline"

You haven't said enough to make clear exactly what you have in mind. But I'd say right off that any new discipline wouldn't replace history, only adjust its methodology and purpose, as has happened many times in the past.

Also: conspiracy theorists have no truck with 'discipline'. Discipline means rigid evidential parameters and falsification etc. Conspiracy theorist start with a preferred outcome, select 'evidence' to fit that outcome and discard the rest. That is not 'discipline'.

Anonymous Jack Amok October 31, 2012 3:56 AM

I have a hard time believing that Obama would participate in any conspiracy that had the possibility of compromising his tee time.

Anyway, the real truth is that the conspirators blew it. They screwed up somehow and the ship that had their storm generating device on it sank before they could whip the storm up sufficiently to destroy NYC. How else could you explain the HMS Bounty replica being off the coast of NC in a hurricane? Clearly something was going on, and the fact that the storm petered out just as it was getting really intense - I think the ship sinking shorted out the generator. Did you see the unnatural blue color in the water surrounding the sinking ship? Leaking aether flux. Or condensed unicorn farts.

Anonymous Elmer Fudge (friend of Sexual Chocolate) October 31, 2012 4:07 AM

@ zenO

There are more references of context than these three. The key phrase used here is "the kings of the earth," used in all instances. I chose those three to show the relationship of the NT supporting the OT (Acts and Psalms).

The Rev. ref. is interesting in that it illustrates the same "kings," but they're hiding. Fast forward to the present. What are the "kings, princes, the rich, etc," doing at this very nanosecond? They're building places to hide. To really connect the dots, one is going to have to invest some time with Schnoebelen and Heiser (and if one wishes to invest even more, with Flynn [also referred by Schnoebelen] et al)

Schnoebelen, on more than one occasion, when referring to Heiser and his Divine Council, makes reference to Eyes Wide Shut and the scene of the ritual orgy at the mansion. If not one of the continental human governors himself, one of his chief lieutenants, and the power he possesses, under his master, one of seven fallen cherubs, that ultimately reports to his Master. That Master reporting directly to the Creator of All Things.

Scott's Prometheus doesn't even begin to scrape the tip of the iceberg. Considering Kubric's demise before the final edits of EWS, one wonders if Scott's brother's death was a warning to him, about just how far do you go with Prometheus. Cain must reveal himself. However, it does not preclude him from murdering some along the way.

The most interesting of the seven cherubs, is the one overseeing Antarctica. Just what exactly is he overseeing? Twice the size of Australia. The most mysterious of them all. Just what could be under all that ice?

Flynn did more twists and turns and desperate dragging out in his Temple book, then never got to the point or backed it up. Those calling themselves Christians would do well to stop staring into the face of evil. Yes, we are guppies in a shark tank. Read Gods word and be content with His protection. We are warned over and over again about this.
And your scouce lists the occult as one of His interests and wants Christians to not fear intetactions with the paranormal according to his site. Wolf.....in...sheeps.....clothing. Read the word of God. Discernment, wisdom and more are gifts from the Holy Spirit not those you have listed. Getting "wisdom" from the devil always ends badly.

It sounds like you have thrown out the baby with the bath water so to speak. You are doing the opposite of what the theorists you describe are doing. They are all inclusive and terribly gullible, you are all exclusive and just as gullible. You miss the truth sitting among the false.

It's ok, it just means you're lazy. We are all lazy to some degree so I can empathize.

So stop being lazy. Find the subject that resonates with you and verify or discredit the information you find out about it.

There's plenty of truth out there. You just have to spend some effort to find it.

Anonymous Aeoli Pera October 31, 2012 11:37 AM

Bohm,

You are perfectly correct.

You haven't said enough to make clear exactly what you have in mind. But I'd say right off that any new discipline wouldn't replace history, only adjust its methodology and purpose, as has happened many times in the past.

It would be a discipline that describes the present and very near past the way history describes the past. It would be similar in that the neohistorian would have to determine what actually happened and then present it in some logical fashion that emphasizes key points (subjective, as in history). It would be different in scope (the present) and in method (because the obstacle is too much contradictory information, rather than information scarcity.)

Also: conspiracy theorists have no truck with 'discipline'. Discipline means rigid evidential parameters and falsification etc. Conspiracy theorist start with a preferred outcome, select 'evidence' to fit that outcome and discard the rest. That is not 'discipline'.

I think this has great potential to change. Consider Americans' recent migration patterns to alternative sources of truth: alternative news media (like Russia Today or Al Jazeera), alternative politics (like the poorly named "alt-right"), and perhaps most importantly* alternative entertainment sources.

This is only possible because these people are disillusioned from so many years of getting fucked by real conspiracies (Goldman Sachs and the federal government, MF Global, or perhaps literally by the Catholic Church). So they will be open to the possible existence of other conspiracies that seemed crazy before. And in their ranks are many intelligent and/or disciplined people, some of whom will hopefully adapt their usual methods to the new subject matter.

And, of course, I have to assume that at least one conspiracy theorist already exists who fits the bill, but he is buried under the daily output of Alex Jones. I'd suggest VD, who is observably smarter than me and has the chops to boot, but I've noticed his predictions** that depend on popular conspiracy theories tend to fail. E.g. No false flag event occurred during the 2012 Olympics.

*Hollywood is, after all, a nest of communists, mystics, pedophiles, et al.
**Pseudopredictions, really. Conspiracy theorists have a bad rep from all those eschatonic predictions (we're still here), so they do a lot of handwaving now. "Something" may happen during Pentacost this year. I like to reduce these to gambling terms whenever possible.

Athor Pel,

It sounds like you have thrown out the baby with the bath water so to speak. You are doing the opposite of what the theorists you describe are doing. They are all inclusive and terribly gullible, you are all exclusive and just as gullible. You miss the truth sitting among the false.

We are all gullible. He may have whitelisted the wrong sources, but then maybe so have I. Smart people searching for the truth can still make a lot of mistakes. Probably more, because they will make more decisions.

It's ok, it just means you're lazy. We are all lazy to some degree so I can empathize.

Probably untrue (relatively speaking), given the moniker. Do a quick google search for possible inspirations for "Bohm".

It would be a discipline that describes the present and very near past the way history describes the past.

What you are describing is HISTORY, pure and simple, it seems to me. Conspiracy theory is not history. That simple fact should be remembered. There has always been conspiracy theory. For example, I urge you to google:

The Paranoid Style of American Politics, by Richard F. Hostader, Harper's Magazine 1964. It's available in PDF, I believe.

Hostaders's analysis is as true today as it was back in the day, methinks

Nevertheless, there is the style of "deep politics" or deep history that to some extent addresses the shortcomings of standard models, in respect to recent history perhaps that is what you are hoping for..even so, that is only history as we all understand it.

Anonymous Aeoli Pera October 31, 2012 3:30 PM

Bohm,

What you are describing is HISTORY, pure and simple, it seems to me.

Technically, yes, but there's a qualitative difference that I'm failing to communicate. I'm talking about things that are the domain of intelligence bureaus, not historians. Maybe a concrete example will help.

Say tomorrow the president declares the election will be moved back because New Englanders wouldn't be properly represented. One moment later, this decision is technically "history." But we wouldn't ask a historian's opinion on the matter. It would be far better to get an intelligence officer's take on the matter.

We might also ask a journalist or a private eye. We would expect investigative journalists (if any still exist) to research the matter and generate primary sources. Maybe the extent of Hurricane Sandy has been exaggerated. And I know that entire office buildings are filled with very clever propagandists and marketers trying to obscure facts and influence my opinions.

So I'm over here in central Minnesota, I have five primary sources, five disingenuous sources, fifty uninformative sources, and no way of knowing which is which. I obviously have a finite amount of time and money to analyze them. What tools and do I have? Natural cleverness*, my knowledge of the sciences involved in the story, and any general reasoning skills I've picked up. Not good. Up against the clever propagandists, I'm probably boned.

Going back to intelligence bureaus. It would be nice if academia** adopted intelligence (as in bureaus) as a discipline.

*Not much. I'm a natural sucker.
**Ignoring for a moment the nascent politics, babysitting and money-grubbing.

Anonymous Aeoli Pera October 31, 2012 3:35 PM

Bohm,

Keep the condescension and criticisms coming. It's really helping me to talk my way through the idea. For instance, I hadn't realized that I simply want the training intelligence bureaus have been giving their analysts for centuries. Now I can find some books on the subject.

I tried to do the same thing with George awhile back but he got bored when I didn't respond angrily. Soul of an internet troll, that one.

Anonymous Aeoli Pera October 31, 2012 3:44 PM

Anyway, I'm imagining a new aethersphereoblag where the methods of intelligence (MW4a) analysts have been widely adopted and used to examine The Official Story. I believe the spirit (of skeptics) is willing but the body (of knowledge) is weak.

*I finally figured out an intuitive way to cite a specific definition, so as to avoid unnecessary philosophical controversy. MW:4a = Merriam-Webster, definition 4a for the preceding word. It's like book chapter:verse notation for the Bible.

Aeoli Pera

Please forgive my condescension, I tend to get that way with conspiracy theories.

History is not just the past per se, it is a coherent narrative of events. It is the difference between a bunch of data points and a theory. In that respect it is a construct of the historian. I think you sense correctly that history is only as good as the sources available -and the historian. A good historian maintains a healthy skepticism over his sources. But you also have to weigh the probabilities.

Take your example, Sandy. You are in Minnesota and you suspect the extent of the storm on the East coast may have been exaggerated, perhaps in order to facilitate a postponement of the election. Is it likely that the many millions of people in the path of the storm have not noticed that exaggeration, or have noticed but have remained silent? Claims about the effects of large-scale weather events are easily verified and New York is no backwater. It is not inconceivable that you could hop in a car and see for yourself, as could anyone who doubts the reports.

I simply want the training intelligence bureaus have been giving their analysts for centuries.

I think perhaps you are crediting the intelligence community with arcane powers that they don't possess, especially with regard to historical methodology. Analysts get things woefully wrong, too. And they are as prone to institutional complacency, back-biting and politics as academia.

But there's nothing stopping a bureau analyst from writing history. In fact, some individuals have done just that. I have books by at least two. IN Britain, Clive Ponting worked at GCHQ during the Falklands War when he 'blew the whistle' on the sinking of the Belgrano- which occurred outside the exclusion zone -and consequently went to jail. The Belgrano was painted by the left as a war crime, a view not shared by the Argentine high command, inconveniently, who took it in good part as a fact of war. Anyway, when he emerged from jail, he wrote some competent history books, which traded on his status as a leftie cause celebre. The books were interesting but nothing epoch-making really.

Then there was an ex-CIA agent, whose name escapes me right now- who wrote a book about Kissinger's war in Angola from personal experience, which is commonly cited in histories on the subject (unlike Ponting). There's another yank, who has traded on his past as an economic hit man for the CIA.

Then there was David Shayler, whom I have met personally. He was working at MI5 when he passed official secrets to the press. I mention him because he subsequently went wholesale for all the flakiest conspiracy theories, including 9/11 truth. He also claimed to be the messiah and I believe is now living as a transvestite in a commune somewhere.

My point is bureau analysts aren't keepers of the secret springs of history. The only advantage they would have is knowledge of classified intel, which, of course, they are more likely to hedge than reveal.

Maybe you're just over-thinking things a bit. The good news is that you are aware that any source has its limitations and that knowing the good from the bad requires a certain depth of knowledge on the subject.

My point is bureau analysts aren't keepers of the secret springs of history.

For banal conspiracies of little consequence, yes. But if there was a really huge conspiracy of the tinfoil variety (not including actual tinfoil) anyone who "came out" with it would look like just the annoying loonie who is frothing at the mouth at the local bar. That's why the common argument "if there was a global conspiracy, it would have leaked by now" doesn't work.
