Rape, corrected

The predecessor of this corrected infographic has been going around, and remarkably, it appears that even card-carrying feminists have begun to realize that writing fantasy fiction about rape statistics is no longer going to convince anyone of anything anymore.  I've corrected this on the basis of actual empirical data, which has shown that between 41 and 50  percent of all reported rapes are false reports.  And by false reports, I mean the purported victim has recanted and admitted that the charge was false, either voluntarily or when faced with a polygraph test.  Furthermore, DNA evidence has been used to show that a statistically significant number of reported, charged, and convicted rapists are, in fact, innocent.  Consider this 2009 article in the Forensic Examiner:
Very little formal research has been conducted on the prevalence of false allegations of rape. One study looked at the 109 cases of forcible rape that were disposed of in one small midwestern town between 1978 and 1987 (Kanin, 1994). The given town was specifically selected for study because the police department used a uniquely objective and thorough protocol when investigating rape complaints. Among other procedural safeguards, officers did not have the discretion to drop rape investigations if they concluded the complaint was "suspect" or unfounded. Every rape accusation had to be thoroughly investigated and included offering a polygraph to both the accuser and the accused. Cases were only determined to be false if and when the accuser admitted that no rape occurred.

The researchers further investigated those cases that the police, through their investigation, had ultimately determined were "false" or fabricated. During the follow-up investigation, the complainants held fast to their assertion that their rape allegation had been true, despite being told they would face penalties for filing a false report. As a result, 41% of all of the forcible rape complaints were found to be false. To further this study, a similar analysis was conducted on all of the forcible rape complaints filed at two large midwestern public universities over a 3-year period. Here, where polygraphs were not offered as part of the investigatory procedure, it was found that 50% of the complaints were false.

Charles P. McDowell, a researcher in the United States Air Force Special Studies Division, studied the 1,218 reports of rape that were made between 1980 and 1984 on Air Force bases throughout the world (McDowell, 1985). Of those, 460 were found to be "proven" allegations either because the "overwhelming preponderance of the evidence" strongly supported the allegation or because there was a conviction in the case. Another 212 of the total reports were found to be "disproved" as the alleged victim convincingly admitted the complaint was a "hoax" at some point during the initial investigation. The researchers then investigated the 546 remaining or "unresolved" rape allegations including having the accusers submit to a polygraph. Twenty-seven percent (27%) of these complainants admitted they had fabricated their accusation just before taking the polygraph or right after they failed the test. (It should be noted that whenever there was any doubt, the unresolved case was re-classified as a "proven" rape.) Combining this 27% with the initial 212 "disproved" cases, it was determined that approximately 45% of the total rape allegations were false.
The reality is that rape is a relatively uncommon crime in the United States; the one in five figures bandied about by feminists at candlelight vigils are pure and unmitigated fantasy.  Of course, it is not exactly a mystery why so many women are more than a little disposed to fantasize about rape.

Yet another proof that the naked assertions of feminists are lies. Has there ever been a more thoroughly discredited ideology than feminism? Here's the thing - facts do not matter to these folks. Remember Gloria Steinem's "men are entitled to one grope" argument during the circus surrounding Beelzebubba, Lord Hee-Haw? That comment alone should have completely destroyed feminism. Yet, here we are in 2013 and feminism is still taught in every government indoctrination center (and not a few "Christian" schools) nationwide, it's precepts underly every TV program and movie, and its minions populate academia, the media, and the "human resources" departments of every large corporation in the western world. It's stronger than ever.

The idiocracy trained by the government indoctrination centers and by the 24 x 7 x 365 jujubox is quite immune to facts, logic, rationality. In the wildest irony of all, the rabid manifestly irrational proponents of feminism (and all of its associated ideology, for feminism is but one branch of a great tree of death and lies) shout loudly about how it is they who are the rational ones.

Anonymous Red Comet January 09, 2013 1:44 PM

Feminazis want stronger rape laws (i.e. laws that don't need any of that "evidence" stuff) to keep the betas away as well as to use for revenge against PUAs that successfully game them and legit alphas that reject them.

The latter scenario is pretty much what I assume every last rape accusation against an athlete to be these days, unless explicitly proven otherwise.

Blogger Bob Wallace January 09, 2013 1:45 PM

My mother worked for many years as the night admitting clerk in the local ER. When I once asked her how many rape allegations were false, she said according to her experience in the ER - 90% of them.

I am a criminal defense attorney and I have represented several people charged with rape. It is an odd crime statistically speaking. I agree that there are numerous rape allegations that are never reported to the police for a variety of reasons. However, it is also a crime that is substantially over-reported. The last FBI statistics I read (and I apologize for not having the cite right handy) suggested that roughly 35 - 40% of rape reports are deemed unsubstantiated or otherwise insufficiently corroborated to merit prosecution.

That said, I have seen a number of cases that qualify more as 'morning-after regret' than rape. I have represented numerous men who were charged with some form of rape after a night of drinking and sex. Even if the woman was blacked out, she can say, "I would never consent to have sex with that guy" and juries find them guilty.

There's no doubt that rape is a horrible crime. Nonetheless, we have gone way too far in our eagerness to correct for times in which rape was not treated as seriously as it should be. Consider how newspapers refuse to name the 'victim' of a sex assault. That policy has several pernicious effects: first, it presumes that such claims are true; second, it makes the crime seem more serious or more heinous because they won't even name the victim, and third, it prevents adequate investigation.

Unfortunately, we have arrived at a point in which if a woman claims that the sex was non-consensual, the system will do all it can to send the man to jail and to ostracize him for the rest of his life.

when i was a company commander of an MP until in germany, i dealt with 7 rape allegations. not one of them stuck.

of the cases i remember:

1) female soldier had sex with male in iraq. she gets pregnant so she will get in trouble. she lies to cover herself. she admits this when CID starts to grill her.

2) female soldier, who is already in deep doo doo fro drug use. says she was raped. this was after she was late to formation because she was wasted in her room, naked. the guy who did have sex with her admitted it was consensual. she later admits she lied because she was now pregnant.

3) german national has sex with male soldier. soldier says it was consensual. girl talks to her girlfriend. ta da! you wuz raped. polizei step in. cross examine the male soldier who admits to having sex with the girl. girl says the rape happened around 0730. soldier says i was at burger king getting breakfast, "impossible!" polizei ask girl was she sure about the rape. "positive!" time? "around 0730." "well, you're lying." "huh?!" "he was at burger king, and here's his receipt to prove it."

4) another he said she said. male soldier does anal and makes female's ass bleed. nothing happens until she talks to her "gurlfriends." now it's rape! CID says not enough evidence.

5) male soldier is moving up in the ranks. female soldier comes out and says he orally raped her 4 months prior in the same room she just got moved to. seems downright legit. something did indeed happen in that room months prior, but male soldier says she came to his room looking for some action. and since he was about to make SGT, he told her to leave. problem is with this case, no evidence 4 months later. she is about to be chaptered out the army for something else. his female platoon leader, a Christian if i ever knew one (and very much my best PL), said, "that bitch is trying to get back at him for turning down her past sexual advances". i'd never seen her so inflamed. JAG says not enough evidence. CID is convinced something happened. i see the soldier two years later in iraq. we are in the same bde. he was now an E6.

Can't remember the other stories, but had one case of sexual harassment. that case was legit. the male offender got in deep doo doo, hopefully put out the army.

Vox, i think what you call the SMV has a lot to do with many rape cases.

what i think happens is that in the cases where the woman talks, "to her gurlfriends", the sex is consensual UNTIL her girlfriends confirm, or convince her that the guy she just had sex with, his SMV is less than hers. so to save face, she says she was raped.

so any time i hear about the number of sexual assaults in the military, i'm skeptical. especially since congress changed the rules to put the burden of proof on the accused back in 2006.

By those numbers, shouldn't there be 5-15 more legitimate reported rapes in the corrected graphic? I count 29% legitimacy rate in the graphic if reported rapes are exclusive of the other categories, and even if counted inclusively it's still only 40% legitimacy.

This is the selfish harm that is being by those who want to call everything under the sun rape, and those who want to fabricate the numbers. They hurt actual rape victims by marginalizing their experience.

I correspond occasionally with a woman who claimed that she posted on the 'net that she would be sitting at the bar in a named hotel in a named city from noon to six o'clock, and that anyone who showed up was welcome to drag her away and brutally rape her. She ran up a huge bar bill, but ended up leaving by herself.

"Last Friday's article on date rape by Murray Rothbard in these pages brought back a lot of college memories (not many of them good). By the end of his essay Rothbard cut to the real motive of the feminists: the campus date-rape campaigns of the early 1990s weren't motivated by a genuine concern for the well-being of women. They were part of an ongoing attempt to delegitimize heterosexuality to young, impressionable women by demonizing men as rapists.

The only point I'd add is that the regulations the feminists were proposing applied only to men, not to the hordes of lecherous dikes teaching in "Wymyn's Studies" departments whose most prized occupational perk is brazen sexual harassment of young women with complete impunity. "

Oh, when I was working in the warehouse at my Dad's furniture store, one of the guys mentioned going out alone to hang a mirror or something, and got met at the door by a nekkid woman. No fool he, he made some excuse and came back to the shop. I told him he'd dodged a bullet, as I believe the most-common false rape accusation comes from a woman who propositioned you, and you turned her down.

I mentioned this to Dad, and he said that was why he always tried to send out at least two guys on deliveries. Witnesses, ya know.

Some women have regrets, then they lie about their encounters...I am not convinced by the anti-rape crusaders or recount and marinate on their absurd/painful emo victim stories.

What even happened to 'stop being a victim of a victims life, moving and just letting the assault go'?

I am not trying to be cold or insensitive but these injustices, cruelness, acts of evil, illness, etc., are going to happen in this fallen world.

Anonymous DonReynolds January 09, 2013 10:20 PM

A young man and a young woman went jogging together. After the run, they both ended up at his place and he served up wine for his guest. After the wine was finished, they ended up going to bed and she stayed the night. (Yes, they had sex.) The next morning, she left without any complaint, but a couple of days later the police arrived and arrested the young man. SHE DID NOT CLAIM THAT HE HAD FORCED HER TO HAVE SEX. But the wimmin cops and district attorney argued that since he served her alcohol prior to sex, she no longer had the ability to consent to lawful sex....therefore, he is a rapist. He was soon sentenced to SEVEN YEARS in prison.

This is a very real danger in this country, which has nothing to do with forcible rape, or date rape, or rape by strangers or burglars. The argument is being made that what has often been considered consentual between two adults is no longer valid, if she had alcohol prior to sex. Not only is this considered to be rape but no amount of eagerness, or presenting, or written note, will prevent a young man from being imprisoned for a sex crime...after all, her drinking alcohol means that she had no consent to give. The fact that he also drank wine, does not also excuse his own behavior. This is an outrage, but there is no discussion on the matter at all. (I should point out that this particular case was in Canada, but the same brand of feminism is available in abundance in our own country.)

Another excellent reason for men not to join the military anymore. This is going to get much worse now, with the integration of more female soldiers and social engineering increasing in all branches of the armed forces. Had a friend back in high school who dined for months on the "my then boyfriend date-raped me" claim. Being less skeptical at the time (17yo) we all took her at her word. One night about 6 months after we decided to push her for more details of the actual chain of events.
The story unfolded as this:
Most every day after school the two of them would go to her house and have sex before her parents got home. Then one day she didn't want to but he did it anyway.
When you told him you didn't want to what did he say? Well, I didn't actually say I didn't want to.
What, did you just push him away and he got physical? No, I didn't want to upset him.
Well wait, did you do anything to let him know you weren't in the mood? "Well, he should have just sensed it."
And this was the "date rape" that was the hushed horror around our school for about a year.
