Reddit and the Red Pill Challenge

Reddit has asked me to do what they call an Ask Me Anything interview with The Red Pill subreddit:
Well it's a new year and we're starting off right. I've been in touch with a lot of the prominent voices of the manosphere, and we're still working out particulars on a lot of these, but I'm posting the annoucement right now because our AMA series is going to begin shortly, and I don't want anybody to miss them.  I'm going to put this list in the sidebar, and update it as more details arrive. Here's our current schedule:
Date (EST) Name Site
1/15/13 10:00am Vox Day Alpha Game
1/21/13 12:00pm Rollo Tomassi Rational Male
1/28/13 12:00pm xsplat Random Xpat Rantings
2/04/13 06:00pm RooshV RooshV , Return of Kings
2/13/13 11:00am Redpillwifey Adventures in Red Pill Wifery
You can participate in the discussion here.  It kicks off at 10 AM Eastern, and keep in mind that although it is called Ask Me Anything, this probably isn't the place for questions about economics, my latest book, my SFWA candidacy, or why AD should be the 2012 MVP.  And recall that it is called "Ask Me Anything", not "I'll Tell You Everything".

4Chan? How/when did this happen?

Anonymous VD January 15, 2013 9:01 AM

A while back. I don't remember what the deal was, but some anklebiters tried to get them to come after me for one reason or another. They must have forgotten the Legion of Doom shirt I was wearing on the Psykosonik poster....

Reddit is full of she-males, but it sounds like that subreddit may contain individuals who are above average compared to the rest of the site.

Computer-Generated Fascism
David Bodanis
Writer; Futurist; Author, Passionate Minds

I'm worried that our technology is helping to bring the long, postwar consensus against fascism to an end. Greece was once the cradle of democracy, yet on live television there recently, a leader of the Golden Dawn fascist movement started beating a female MP who disagreed with his views—smashing her on one side of the head, then the other—and his poll ratings went up, not down.

Do you think Computer Generated Fascism is a problem? (Search for it in The Edge's 2013 Question responses

thats a rather small subreddit; its sidebar says it has about 915 subscribers

the sub /r/seduction has about 100,000 subscribers

I am shocked and dismayed by the sheer numbers of people who are so totally focused on the red pill/game aspect of life that they have no idea what's going on around them in the rest of the world.

Not that I don't think a lot of people really ~need~ it, but would at least some of their time/energy be well spent plugging into current events and how it may impact their lives in the short & longer term vs spending all of their time/energy obsessing about how when they touch their wife's left breast it might come off as needy instead of self-confident?

I don't know, once I got the concepts and put them into play at home I just don't seem need to study it any more.

Does that seem to be the case with any of the regulars who post here? I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about that.

Anonymous Josh January 15, 2013 11:23 AM

Mina,

You're female, right?

Anonymous a good ROI January 15, 2013 11:24 AM

Implying that reddit is as "bad" as 4chan. No.

And you mean it is an AMAA (Ask Me Almost Anything).

Getting a large group of strangers to work together towards a common goal, even if somewhat misguided at times, is a good thing in my opinion. Either 4chan or reddit. It helps people to realize that they can effect change on a large scale and they can have an impact if they DO something. Their voice does matter, their action(s) do matter. Both for as a force for good or bad. Both as a force for or against something.

They have a lot of great sub-reddits where one can learn a lot of interesting and useful things as well as partake in some thought provoking discussions.

But do not go to reddit expecting to find the good stuff w/o at least creating an account and setting up your own default sub-reddits. Otherwise you are stuck with atheism, wtf and aww.

Some of the ones I like are...
/r/Libertarian
/r/Collapse
/r/Fitness
/r/AdvancedFitness
/r/LoseIt
/r/Bad_Cop_No_Donut
/r/Guns
/r/CCW
/r/privacy

Lots of other good ones, pretty much anything you can think of there is a sub-reddit for it.

MinaJanuary 15, 2013 11:06 AMI am shocked and dismayed by the sheer numbers of people who are so totally focused on the red pill/game aspect of life that they have no idea what's going on around them in the rest of the world.

Let's unpack this a little bit, shall we?

"sheer numbers of people" - how many people would you estimate are 1) aware of Game and the concept of the red pill as it relates to Socio-sexual relationships and 2) how many of those people are "so totally focused" on it that they have no idea what's going on?

I think you're overreacting, which is normal for a woman whose exposed to game, etc. I think the prime reason for this is that women generally have no idea how much easier it is for them to get laid compared to men.

Anonymous Mina January 15, 2013 11:51 AM

I don't know, I was on Athol's forum for a while and it seemed like the entire lot of them thought of nothing but game day and night, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Things going on in the greater world around them were totally unknown, unknowable and not given as worthy to ponder.

I found it - tedious and wasteful: of time, energy and brain cells.

I was totally surprised that men especially would invest so much time to the exclusion of all else.

I agree with this, too. The more I learn about a subject like this, I reach a point where it's mostly inane rambling by introverts. Vox and Roissy are the only people I learn anything from anymore on an issue like this.

I was also going to say Reddit has numerous liberals and various people who are high on the autism spectrum. I was surprised how long it took but here they come:

Anonymous Mina January 15, 2013 12:03 PM

someone who really doesn't like VD just checked in. LOL hope he doesn't mind without half his limbs.

Anonymous Josh January 15, 2013 12:03 PM

You're making some very fatal assumptions.

1) you're assuming that all they care about is game

That's obviously untrue for most of them, look at how many of Dalrock's or Roissy's posts are about game vs the societal implications of feminism.

Also, it shouldn't surprise you that on a game blog or game forum the conversation is about game. That's like going into the comments section of a Mises.org article and complaining that no one is talking about the importance of homeschooling or the end of the NHL lockout.

furthermore, most red pill/game folks have a better idea of what is going on in the real world than your average blue pill political or economic neophyte.

2).you're assuming that they spend all their time thinking about and writing about game.

Aside from someone like Roosh or Athol, who make their living writing about game, most of the commenters have lives and interests outside of game. Hell, Vox just wrote a very good huge novel (finish book 2!) Whilst blogging about game.

Anonymous Mina January 15, 2013 12:04 PM

~ leaving without half his limbs ~

I have got to start proof-reading these better. My apologies.

Anonymous Josh January 15, 2013 12:08 PM

Also, regarding athol and mmsl:

If your marriage is falling apart and headed for divorce or separation, wouldn't it be wise to spend a great deal of time thinking about how to fix it or save it?

You're not going to suggest that cancer patients are spending too much time thinking about how to get cured or spending too much time in the hospital, are you?

Anonymous a good ROI January 15, 2013 12:15 PM

Thank you Josh... very well put.

Anonymous Mina January 15, 2013 12:15 PM

"Hell, Vox just wrote a very good huge novel (finish book 2!) Whilst blogging about game."

There is a very good reason I am here and not "there" any more.

From what I have gathered since coming here a month ago, VD has a ton more to offer than the right way to knead the wive's buttocks ... or how to sit at my husbands left knee and look up him in just the right way to convey my tastes for the evening.

I was actually referred here by Stingray after a longish conversation along these same lines; near the end of which she probably thought to herself "ack! I really need to get this person off my blog!!" That's when she sent me here. :-) LOL

I get the value of game but maybe because I live it there is less need to study it, and analyze it and spend a lot of time obsessing over the minutia of it. Seems like there would be a lot of people on this blog who thought so as well.

Anonymous Stickwick January 15, 2013 12:17 PM

Because [our reasoning] does pose a real threat to the female imperative. If men don't preemptively shut down, or at least hold their tongues while the women are talking, male dialectic will usually win the day when opposed by female rhetoric. Keep in mind that while men view silence as dissent, women view it as acquiescence. That is why it is vital for men to speak out whenever they encounter what Roissy describes as the "pretty lies". (emphasis mine)

This is the quote of the day. This explains so much.

Anonymous Mr Green Man January 15, 2013 12:18 PM

It looks like you have your own autistic loverboy "ImBloodyAnnoyed" pulling a Hunt-Renee over there. It's a shame he's too stupid to realize that saying he disagrees with whatever you say means he's taken a position on things -- reflexive and fashionable lefties tend to pretend that being the anti-anti- is usually simplified to being for something, e.g., anti-anti-communist is pro-commie.

Anonymous Mr Green Man January 15, 2013 12:19 PM

Yep I agree there, very much so. Matter of fact so much so that after the MMSL forum had been open for several months I made the suggestion that those men get their own, male-only area in which to discuss, obsess, and do what they needed to do to hash out their stuff without the women on the forums constantly interfering and their "special way" of taking them off track.

Anonymous Mina January 15, 2013 12:23 PM

Stickwick January 15, 2013 12:17 PM:

Anonymous Josh January 15, 2013 12:23 PM

Mina:

Game is for men. Girls don't need game, they need girl game, which essentially is,

"take care of yourself, be feminine, wear dresses, be sweet/kind/not bitchy, give blowjobs, be domestic"

Although game could be summarized as don't be a pussy, there tends to be some de programming that needs to happen to get men to stop being clueless pussies.

Anonymous Mr Green Man January 15, 2013 12:25 PM

It's funny to see Hunt-Renee-ToyBoy continue to try to throw this word "pro-segregationist" as if the dog whistle is supposed to derail everything. "Racisss!" -- they kept playing with it and they wore it out. I think he's gone blind, too.

Anonymous Bobo January 15, 2013 12:30 PM

Anonymous Mina January 15, 2013 12:37 PM

Josh January 15, 2013 12:23 PM:

I get game. In my household I was the one who found it and brought it home by making the dramatic personal changes ... I'd say my husband was firmly in the "woman / wife as equal and I need to be very respectful of women and her agenda at all times" camp when we started. So yes, some de-programming was needed.

It's been an interesting year, to say the least.

side note: I have not given over to being completely girly in dress. There seem to be several acceptable alternatives to that, at least around here. :-D

Anonymous Josh January 15, 2013 12:41 PM

This used to be called feminine wiles, back when women recognized the value of keeping a man's interest. When the grand delusion of feminism comes to an end through whatever catastrophe is headed our way, women will rediscover the utility of feminine wiles.

Yep! There is no feminism without surplus - mostly fossil fuels but food, water, and shelter could probably get lumped in there, too.

I agree with this, too. The more I learn about a subject like this, I reach a point where it's mostly inane rambling by introverts. Vox and Roissy are the only people I learn anything from anymore on an issue like this.

I think there are definitely two paths that are diverging:

The pua/seduction group that focuses on slaying pussy bro

And

The manosphere blogs that look at things in the abstract, systematizing concepts, broader societalconsequences, feminism in the church, etc.

The latter blogs, like alpha game, dalrock, rollo, etc tend to be much more worthwhile than the former.

So, I guess ToyBoy's position is that it's wrong to say that the emperor is naked when the emperor is something he likes, like the majesty of scientific consensus. It's such a shame, too, that he spent all this time getting to how his great pro-science position is that he has opinions that are outside of science and he likes science for them. I feel cheated.
