Vox Popoli: Everything has fallen into place

In music, as in all artistic endeavors, one often waits for inspiration to strike. Sometimes one is inspired by a sudden desire to create something beautiful. Sometimes, one is inspired to share a particular emotion or experience. Sometimes, one is inspired to challenge the status quo. And sometimes, one is inspired to mindlessly imitate works by superior and more original artists over and over again. But rather than doing a "reboot" of Thriller, Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, or a dubstep remix of "You Light Up My Life", the Pink Rabbit Posse happened to find inspiration in an interview on Canadian radio during which the interviewee inexplicably announced himself, again, to be inclined towards engaging in a certain activity that is quite rightly denounced by all decent and law-abiding Canadian citizens.

Hence Everything is Falling Into Place (Groove Kittens mix) by Rapey McRaperson and the Pink Rabbit Posse. McRapey really did an amazing job on the vocals; he nailed them in just one take before rounding up a few local college girls to help with the backing vocals. This is the first single for the Pink Rabbit Posse, which is presently hard at work on a techno opera based on the works of Isaac Asimov and his hitherto unknown career as a flasher.

Just out of curiousity, what do the Canadian copyright laws say about (presumably unauthorized) sampling? I know there have been a number of lawsuits in the US over such things, and I just wonder if the CBC would have a case.

Of course it has occurred to me. I read this blog, don't I? And you are correct about some seeing humor in this. In fact I do too. But there is always a subtext to humor, both good and bad. I was merely commenting on what seems the obvious subtext. But, here's my suggestion: I don't think there is much you can do, humor or otherwise, to overcome the trouncing that took place when Mr. Scalzi put out the tip jar and wrote your name on it. But, you can always keep trying.

There is no indication in any of the coverage of this "issue" that Vox Day has gotten the better of Scalzi. In fact, nearly all the coverage has noted that Scalzi's move was inspired, that Vox Day is nothing more than a hating troll and that this is a good way to deal with it. You don't hear anyone saying, "yea...great idea, call Mr. Scalzi a rapist." In fact, no one even thinks it's funny.

But this is beside the point. We are at the stage of this little issue where now it's about finding ways lesson the impact of Scalzi's score.

Most teams walk off the field upon being beaten. Some stay on the field, rant and rage, even when the other team and the spectators have noted the loss and left the stadium.
