VPFL Week 13

127 Bane Sidhe (8-5)
50 RR Redbeards (8-5)

60 Fromundah Cheezheads (10-3)
44 Suburban Churchians (5-8)

73 Mounds View Meerkats (6-7)
67 Bradford Gamma Rays (5-8)

71 Bailout Banksters (6-7)
69 Greenfield Grizzlies (9-4)

86 Boot Hill Hangmen (4-9)
68 Mercury Marauders (4-9)

The playoff teams are set, all that remains to be settled is who plays where.  Right now, no one wants to face the defending champions, Bane Sidhe, who appear to be rounding into late-season form. And curb-stomping Nate? Well, let's just say the old Weeper was smiling that day.

I'm not discontent with my performance this season. Losing both Rodgers and Foster knocked me out of contention, but I still managed to score more points than two of the four playoff teams.

Well, since its sort of football: Seems the Auburn team will get into the last BCS game. An amazing year they had. It would be nice to keep the last BCS title in the SEC and Alabama. I live in Alabama and cheer for both the cross state rivals. I like a good game, whoever plays it. And, this year was a banner and somewhat alcoholic year for the football fans in Alabama.

OMG watching the Detroit Philadelphia game in a blizzard is simply delightful. There must be 3 or 4 inches on the ground and it's coming down at about an inch or two an hour.

Football the way God intended. Outdoors in a blizzard. The Lions have already fumbled four times and the Eagles have lost more yardage then gained..

@Just Mark:
Like Christmas shows, watching snow on TV is fun - glad the only way I have to see it is on TV.
And I'm sure the Steelers are glad to have the Dolphins come visit - a team that usually doesn't play in the snow well.

So I turn on ESPN radio Sunday morning as I get into the car to pick up the Heir from camping in the freezing whether, and what do I hear? Not gameday updates, but Gary Player jabbering on about Nelson Mandela.

Fuckin' liberals, everything is political. .

Looks like the Deadskins was just the thing the Chiefs needed right about now :)

I am a bit bummed OSU lost. The fallout from the SEC not being in the title game would be amusing.

You would think the teams would be playing with more heart considering they are probably playing for 3rd vs 4th seed. Having to play away at Seattle when they are coming off a bye is a recipe for disaster for any team.

Can the Vikings season get any worse, Adrian Peterson carted off field... now what?

Anonymous YIH December 08, 2013 3:05 PM

Here's a preview of coming attractions for you Vox:
Snow shovels on the field, snowplows on the field, and one of them almost takes out a few players.

Man, this snow game is all sorts of fun.

And the Vikings yet again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

But you gotta admit, that was one hell of an ending.

Ender once again learns that a Vikings fan NEVER considers a game won until the final whistle blows. That was ridiculous.

Also, the officials handed the game to the Ravens. Three important calls, all wrong. I can't honestly say I mind losing, though. At this point, we want the better draft pick.

The Minnesota Vikings other first round picks might not have panned out, but Cordarrelle Patterson is special with the ball in his hands. What took the Vikings so long to start giving him more opportunities?

FROM TWITTER

Wow talking about bad officiating & the worst fan base I've ever experience! They threw snow balls the entire 4q like lil kids. Smh.
@AdrianPeterson
Well, if I was there I'd be chucking snowballs too - just for the hell of it.

Tim Tebow offered contract by Italy's Milano Seamen
Pro (American) football in Italy? Who knew?

What took the Vikings so long to start giving him more opportunities?

I'm guessing a mix of two things:

1) A QB that could get him the ball during a game where
2) The opposing defense was as soft as @scalzi

Usually when there are snow games, one or two games would be affected. Today, highlights from most of the early games looked like the last 30 minutes of Alive...
The funniest part is watching the Facebook posts from an old friend who went to her first NFL game today, Lions at Eagles. She and her husband couldn't make it through the first half.
Bad weather is the great equalizer.

After Harvin not getting healthy, I lost Gronk today for good. and Peterson is injured too. Gonna be hard in the play offs.

And another NFL record is broken.

Is this bad call month, or is it just one day?

Bad call month should require that teams wear yellow.

Blogger JartStar December 08, 2013 6:38 PM

The Texans need to keep losing to get that first pick. It's going to be close.

Also, how about the "Tom Brady needs to win" penalty against the Browns?

Anonymous G.Veil December 08, 2013 6:58 PM

@JartStar

The refs owed him one after that Carolina game.

I would like to know what they have in mind to screw up the Panthers-Saints game.

It could be epic. Maybe the high point of Bad Call Month.

I think the Patriots are Bellicheating again. 3 games in a row come back from being way down after half time. 24-0 and 19-3 (can't remember the other other score). But it makes sense, three in a row. Three is a conspiracy.

Anonymous zenO December 08, 2013 8:42 PM

Belicheat is using drones to steal defensive signals.

I kid you not.

They were introducing the Panther defense on Sunday nite football, and one of the dudes said his alma mater was "Hogwarts".

And no one commented on it.

also, most td's on a single day.
http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/saints-nfl-set-single-day-record-tds-21144344

just goes to show how much the defenses have been neutered.

Cats. That Dempsey record was old when I was a little kid 35 years ago. It was one of the first ones I ever remember reading about in one of those "true football stories for boys" books, because of his unusual foot (handicap? advantage?).

Sailer's got a bit about how the only reason he was allowed to kick it that far was because the coach thought they were on the opponent's 44, not their own. Hilarious.

Al Michaels used to correct the players who said their high school instead of their university after those self-introductions, and then abruptly stopped, and around that time, other announcers did too. The NFL hawks on its own shield for everything down to the color of socks, so I wonder if the players union got a bone thrown to them on the self-intros. I'm still waiting for someone to get away with a straightfaced Florida University of Corrections and Knowledge.

Blogger AdognamedOp December 09, 2013 5:46 AM

Speaking of player intro's, I coulda swore one player on N.O. pronounced virginia as vaginia.
Reminded me of this silly bit:

And yeah, the record TD's in a day is not cause for celebration but more likely inspiration for a eugugoli.
