I am on the SNiiiiiiiiide. It haunts me.
Every week, between 11 AM and 2 PM PDT, I am projected to win. Sometimes by stunning margins.
By the end of the day, disaster has struck ... injury, acts of God, uncommon acts of courage.
Case in point ... Seahawks defense falls over in San Diego.
Unreal.
Anyway, I only say this as a way of predicting some disaster on my line up. Some. Disaster.
I have a hunch Tampa Bay's going to lose ;)
Yeah, I am with you there. Which is good for my Steve Smith Sr. Pick. But I need them to lose by _more_.
Its a pretty competitive year. Only Seattle is playing a complete game and their D has taken a step back from last year.
Actually looks like the AFC on the whole is better than the NFC this year.
I can't believe the Miami Dolphins. Their D and ST have basically gift wrapped this game for the Offense who refuses to open their damn present. It should be 17-7 Miami not 10-3 GB.
Those fantasy scores are pretty low. I'm guessing the VPFL isn't a PPR league. Anything else keeping scores low?

Well, the Miami coaching staff appears to have remembered they have Lamar Miller.
They just barely beat the Jags.
It's going to be a looooooonnnnnnggggg season for Tennessee.
Three things just got confirmed:
1. CDC sez... Yup, it's 0bola!
2. No one is going to use ''Redskins'' when discussing NFL playoff scenarios.
3. There's a tie again this year.
Those fantasy scores are pretty low.
Amateurs.
Feel for the Boot Hill Bogs. They score 80 points and still lose
For some reason it's 20 yards per point, so a guy having a bang up 119 yard day rushing and 38 receiving gets 14 points in most leagues while getting only 6 in VD's league.
As far as I can tell, the premium on touchdowns serves as a controller on a 10-man league having an overabundance of garbage-yard players. I prefer the low scoring for yardage. It is a noticeable adjustment against the prevent defense at the end of halves and games.
It does penalize guys like T.Y. Hilton who make spectacular, TD-setting long catches but don't see the end zone very often, but I'm okay with that as long as it screens for random-receiver X getting 7 points at the end of the game for catching three meaningless passes in the middle of the field, while the best players are being neutralized. Now, he'll get 2 or 3 points instead, which is much more reasonable.
I'm much happier with these rules - by far - than a PPR league, and slightly more than in a 10 yards per point league.
Cowboys. did not expect.
Bears find the long ball and win. D holding Matt Ryan to 13 points at home was a heroic performance given that all 3 LBs had their first start of the season today.
I don't agree Daniel. You could use that reasoning for random suck players catching 8 yards but 1 TD getting more points than your best players with 119 yards and 8 catches on the game. The QB getting 6 per TD is also ludicrous. Insane even. It's almost as if the founders of this league wanted to draft a top 3 QB, 2 elite WRs, and then sit back and do nothing the rest of the league. Notice the lack of trades or any semblance of a waiver order. Most leagues you must get a quality RB or two early or you will stink. This league, it's almost a throwaway position.
I have a feeling my running back corps and my pickup of Brady as QB2 will give me a good footing as we go. Wouldl ove another WR of quality. Still not bad for missing the draft due to it being held on Labor Day Weekend at 2 in the afternoon.....

Angry, football man, football. Yes it isn't everyone's speed and I often dislike it, but this is for the league and if not then for FOOTBALL. You can put you can't wait update in another post, especially since this isn't even the most current one.
"Those fantasy scores are pretty low. I'm guessing the VPFL isn't a PPR league. Anything else keeping scores low?"
Its straight yahoo scoring. The main thing keeping the scores low.. is that this has been the worst fantasy year ever.
No you could not use that same reasoning, Vincent. Random players who make critical touchdowns are not the same as random players who are given inconsequential yards. Running back is critical under this scoring. My keepers this year were 2 RBs and 1 WR, with me almost scrapping the WR for Philip Rivers. I think you may just be stuck on what makes a good fantasy RB. You need a good hands RB who factors into the passing scheme. If you have a pair of those sort, your RB is a major stabilizing factor for scoring.
As far as worst year scoring goes, Nate, my recollection of 2009 was that it was this bad or worse at this point in the year, but I could be wrong.
2009 had tons of injuries too.. I don't think there were as many RBs by committee... I mean how many teams actually have a real 3 down back?
According to McRapey math, as many as 50% of the league have a three-down back:
Chicago
Houston (sort of)
Minnesota (before Adrian Peterson went out)
Green Bay (before they decided to go to a two-back system)
New Orleans (before Ingram went down)
So see? Pretty much everyone still does except those other 25 teams.
I'd like to change RB in fantasy to RB corps (i.e. You draft the lead back, you get his back up's numbers too for the one slot) but that's a big change. Who knows what else that would unintentionally "fix" in fantasy?
Right now, the RB is just in flux. It'll probably decrease in importance over the next few years as the last of the monsters are flushed out and the rules catch up to make defense exciting again.
Forte (91%), Murray (80%), Bell (77%) are the only RBs significantly over the 67% offensive snaps to merit being called 3-down backs.
In fact there are only 16 other RBs on the field for over 50% of their teams offensive snaps.
