Fashion is the new science

The AAS releases a formal statement concerning men's fashion:
The following statement was issued on 19 November 2014 by the Executive Committee of the American Astronomical Society on behalf of the AAS Council:

The past few days have seen extensive international discussion of an incident (known online as #shirtstorm or #shirtgate) in which a participant in a European Space Agency media conference wore a shirt with sexualized images of gun-toting women and made an unfortunate remark comparing the featured spacecraft to a woman. Viewers responded critically to these inappropriate statements, especially jarring in such a highly visible setting (one in which very few women appeared), and the scientist apologized sincerely. But in the meantime, unacceptable abuse has been directed toward the critics, from criticism of “over-active feminism” to personal insults and more dire threats.

We wish to express our support for members of the community who rightly brought this issue to the fore, and we condemn the unreasonable attacks they experienced as a result, which caused deep distress in our community. We do appreciate the scientist’s sincere and unqualified apology.

The AAS has a clear anti-harassment policy, which prohibits “verbal comments or physical actions of a sexual nature” and “a display of sexually suggestive objects or pictures.” Had the offending images appeared and comments been made under the auspices of the AAS, they would be in clear violation of our policy.
If I were a scientist, I would immediately resign from any organization that was releasing statements on fashion, much less had a formal policy on what I could and could not wear.

I'm sure it will surprise no one to know that the president of the AAS is a female SJW. The sad thing about this isn't that most women care more about clothes and politics than science; we already knew that. What is both tragic and observable is that even women who are professional scientists care more about clothes and politics than science. They aren't merely an embarrassment to their sex, they are the epitome of a humiliating shame to it.

It can't possibly be true that "unacceptable abuse has been directed toward the critics". Whatever abuse they received not only was well-merited, but didn't go nearly far enough because they deserve shameless mocking for the rest of their pathetic lives.

And this is why you don't let SJWs into any organization to which you belong. Because this is what they do.

Is true, peoples of the court, that I did not do enough. In fact, I had intentions - known or otherwise to myself - to wreck activities that would have benefited both State and science. And... No, the prosecutor is waving his arms... State and Suffrage. Yes. So... Here, allow me to urinate over this... no, not rug... this shirt, in order to atone for my sins towards our glorious Activists, who rightly pointed out that my job was no place to wear clothing, nor to land a probe on a celestial body... and... Wait. Now that the prosecutor is signaling to me... yes, YES, that too is a crime similar of nature as the first...

Is true. I harassed a free celestial body minding its own business with an uninvited patriarchal probe. I had intentions, known or otherwise to myself...

I love the weaselly wording: "Viewers responded critically to these inappropriate statements," thereby conflating all shirt viewers' responses into negative comments.
This person isn't a scientist; she's a bureaucrat masquerading as a scientist. The dress regulations she cites are unenforceable boilerplate straight out of corporate HR departments.
Oh...wait...they're unenforceable UNLESS you adhere to SJW-think. Thus, anything you wear can be used against you.

Mr. "Day" ....we believe that the purpose of science is to serve mankind. You, however,
seem to regard science as some kind of "dodge" or "hustle." Your theories are the
worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy and your conclusions are highly questionable. You're a poor scientist, Mr. "Day", and you have no place in this coversation.

I wonder how many members of the SpaceShipTwo team were also members of AAS. I can hear it now:

AAS SJW#1: We need to make a decision on the selection of a new motor for SpaceShipTwo...
AAS SJW#2: Motor? We have more important items on the agenda, foremost of which is the need to create a non-discriminatory dress code.
AAS SJW#1: I must have man-scanned that list. I didn't even see that item! The influence of the Patriarchy must have temporarily blinded me to such an important social-justice issue. Damn you, Patriarchy! *pumps feeble, limp-wristed fist in the air*

The absolutely best thing to do would be to start the anti- AAS council that is anything-goes, and let scientists show up in whatever they care to. What would it take to make that happen.

I find it hilarious that the old tree-houses with "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" signs were not only intelligent responses, but prescient as well. Everyone knows that those were the cool tree houses to go to anyway.

You've heard of date rape, regret rape, and t-shirt rape. Now the state of New Jersey introduces us to fraud rape, wherein sex occurs under false pretenses. Just what constitutes false pretenses? Activist judges will decide that on a case-by-case basis.

So if this passes, in New Jersey, having sex with a girl after telling her you're pre-med when the major you've formally declared is mechanical engineering, or that you like her friends when you actually hate them, could be considered the legal equivalent of forcibly raping of a stranger.

You know, this may sound like it's over the top and out of the ordinary. But I have a number of clients in start-up communities so I have made it a point to follow a number of rich & famous entrepreneurs from hot spots like the Silicon Valley & NY, and the prevailing culture there is SJW. They may have diverse opinions about everything else, but when it comes to an issue in this area, they coalesce around it in locked hip fashion. They don't seem to outwardly ridicule dissenting opinions, but my guess is you are instantly relegated to irrelevancy muy pronto. That can affect funding, hiring, networking, etc., etc. I have never found a business culture so wrapped up in politics as the start-up communities. I'm starting to wonder if I missed a major movement, or if this is confined to start-up communities. The startup communities would never put out a directive like this, but everyone would just know what to do and what not to do. Quite an eye opener.

...For your consideration: V.P. Glushko, whose biography will more than likely be the staple if Shirtgate's any indication.

At the least, the luckless "participant in an ESA media conference" - you know, the actual scientist who shall not be named - made his tearful escape before becoming immortalized by state photographers.

I'll give you a darker present and more hopeful future, Nikolai Vavilov. Note that this brilliant geneticist was purged for offending - not confronting - the Zeitgeist. He was of the wrong class and just all too competent. The regime that persecuted, tortured and murdered him fell, and the country issued stamps in his memory.

There are atheists who earn their place in history.

I just wish they would make the fat sows stop wearing spandex to the office. It is stomach churning to see the multiple rolls of fats bulging out in stretched-tight pants and sweaters. The female hyper sexualization of modern offices is truly repulsive.

Miss SJW Lady, I really don't want to see you spandex-stretched "baby bump" and your proud third trimester pregnant outie displayed at work.

If you agree not to show of ever bump, wrinkle, roll of fat and nubbin through your skin-tight office clothes, I agree not to wear my pair of "Cleavers" to work.

Do we have a deal?

Once again we see that when a space becomes feminized, more "friendly to women" or whatever then its mission changes from whatever it originally was (national security, scientific research, producing quality merchandise, turning a profit, etc) and becomes all about the immediate comfort of the women of the organization, first and foremost. This will take precedence over absolutely everything - up to and including the survival of the organization itself.

I have never found a business culture so wrapped up in politics as the start-up communities.

Well there's a reason that Silicon Valley startups today are all about tweets and signing someone's yearbook, er, I mean, facebook, instead of actual engineering. Things like 3D printers get funded through kickstarter and the like. Or else eccentric billionaires

BTW, the quality of engineering done at Facebook is astonishingly bad. Bridge-falling-down bad. .
