Republican House, Republican Senate

It would be nice if the Republicans would attempt to do more with their newly won Congressional power than they did the last time they held both House and Senate, but given their objectives, I have no expectation whatsoever that they'll even do something as trivial as overturn Obamacare. Indeed, I rather expect them to dig the hole deeper. Consider the words of the new Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell:
"This experiment in big government has lasted long enough. It's time to go in a new direction," McConnell boomed to supporters in his victory speech. But he sounded a conciliatory note as well, adding that while he and the president rarely see eye to eye, "we do have an obligation to work together on issues where we can agree."

"It's time for government to start getting results and implementing solutions to the challenges facing our country, starting with our still-struggling economy," [House Majority Leader] Boehner added.
Translation: immigration amnesty and free trade. From the same article:
While Republicans are likely to cooperate on issues like tax reform, the party will seek to breathe life into their stalled jobs bills, to gain approval of the delayed Keystone XL pipeline, roll back some carbon emission regulations and tweak Obamacare.
Well, that's certainly an ambitious program that is all but guaranteed to completely turn things around, isn't it? It's fascinating how they've managed to completely evade addressing every single aspect of American decline.

And on a blog note, I can only observe that we need some saner trolls. It appears Ann Morgan is even less connected to objective reality than one would have assumed: "Hahahaha. Total democrat victory tonight proves my point is correct."

Yeah, so, about that.... The constant laughter of the SJW isn't, as they think it to be, the confident amusement of the superior being at the antics of his lessers. It's the cackling of unhinged madness.

Yaaaaay Mitch McConnell. Isn't this exciting? Mitch McConnell, everyone.

There's not really anything to vote "for." People are just tired of leftists, I think.

Anonymous A Visitor November 05, 2014 4:41 AM

This is what I get for not being able to get to sleep early in the morning (yes, I had Fox on to see how bad the thumping would be). When McConnell said that, I texted a friend, "What issues? Stick it to him!" What the Republican leadership doesn't get is this was as Limbaugh and Laramie said, a protest vote. People are sick of leftists including those that are Republicans. They'd best listen to their constituents, lest they find themselves out of office in 2016. A repeal of Obamacare and stopping his executive amnesty would be a nice start. I know it's a long shot but hey, anything is possible.

Blogger ScuzzaMan November 05, 2014 4:50 AM

It can hardly be a protest vote to replace leftists with leftists, can it?

What the Republicans will agree with Obama on is WAR, WAR, WAR and more WAR!

THEREFORE, they will also agree on the "necessity" for more destruction of the Constitution, more money printing, more deficits, more massive inflation of the Fed's balance sheet, which means more transfer of net wealth upwards.

In other words, different rhetoric but no change in the policies that have been impoverishing the American middle class since 1973.

Did you notice that? You can change the government but the policies stay the same. "Is our voters learning?"

As a great man once said:

"Necessity is the plea of tyrants, it is the creed of slaves."

Concerning trolls and reality, there is one aspect of the Republican victory that may, in fact, be exactly what the Democrats wanted: never get in the way of someone who is self-destructing. I suspect the Republicans are going to f*** things up so badly that they'll lose subsequent elections for 100 years.

I would have preferred the Lt. Ripley option, myself.

I always wonder why I should bother to vote, since I live in MN, a state that would vote for a Democrat even if their first promised act of office were to line everybody up and give them an ebola shot. (Don't want to seem racist against African germs after all...) I always wonder how much of the Democrat Takes All mentality is due to the "new voters" the Democrats imported into the state and how much if it is due to addle-brained outstate farmers who still think it's the Union and Farmer Friendly Democratic Party they remember their grampas voting for...

In the face of a mini ice age trying to tax cooler weather into existence has to be in the top two or three greatest insanities this world has seen on a grand scale.

AGW is a killer of a policy. Which maybe why the political class are so fond of it. Their right to carry means bigger and better.

La Raza is a joke and no one spouts off their nonsense.

You've tried to push that lie before. You must really hate the internet, here are some of those "conservatives" you mention:
Joaquín Castro (born September 16, 1974)[1] is an American politician who has served in the United States House of Representatives since 2013, representing Texas's 20th congressional district. The district includes just over half of San Antonio, as well as some of its closer-in suburbs. From 2003 to 2013, he was a representative in the Texas Legislature representing District 125.[2] While in the Texas legislature Castro served as Vice-Chair of the Higher Education Committee and was a member of the Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence Committee. He has previously served on the County Affairs Committee, Border & International Affairs Committee and the Juvenile Justice & Family Issues Committee.[2] Castro's identical twin brother, Julián, served as Mayor of San Antonio from 2009 to 2014 and is now the 16th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the Cabinet of President Barack Obama.[3]
And his brother:
Julián Castro was born in San Antonio, Texas, on September 16, 1974,[2] to Maria "Rosie" Castro and Jessie Guzman.[3] He is the identical twin brother of current United States Representative Joaquín Castro.[2] His mother was a Chicana political activist who helped establish the Chicano political party La Raza Unida.[4] She ran unsuccessfully for San Antonio City Council in 1971.[2] Castro once stated, "My mother is probably the biggest reason that my brother and I are in public service. Growing up, she would take us to a lot of rallies and organizational meetings and other things that are very boring for an 8-, 9-, 10-year-old".[5] His father, Jessie Guzman, is a retired math teacher and political activist. Never married, Rosie and Jessie separated when Castro and his brother were eight years old.[4] Castro's Texan roots trace back to 1920, when his grandmother, Victoria Castro, joined extended family members there as a six-year-old orphan from northern Mexico.[2]

Why they are virtually indistinguishable from Pat Buchanan.

Hispanics in Texas are Texans, so all your little rules and put-downs need to be saved for someone else.

Well, Ted Cruz likely qualifies. The Castro brothers...not so much. How about the tens of thousands crossing the border these days? Does setting foot on soil north of the Rio Grande magically transform them into freedom loving Texans? You are either too stupid to understand that not all "hispanics" in Texas are like the old, pre-independence families, or you are lying to advance your pet cause. What is the ratio of Texas hispanics from the pre-independence families to more recent immigrants?

The overall breakdown heavily favors the Democrats, but not as much as in other states:

Texas Hispanics are decidedly Democratic in their political party preferences, 46% to 27%, but that 19-percentage-point Democratic advantage is much smaller in Texas than the average 30-point gap Democrats enjoy among the Hispanic population in the other 49 states.

"not as much of a problem" /= "no problem"

Enjoy your fantasy while it lasts.

Let's deal with parasitic reality, shan't we?

As always, follow the money.

~500+ motherfuckers stealing ~$174,000 taxpayer dollars each plus massive perquisites totaling hundreds of millions of dollars...if not more.

~500+ motherfuckers committing insider trading and sleeping with lobbyists.

~500+ motherfucker profiteers continuing illegal war games for all the dough of it.

Walker commits Act 10 but leaves out all cops, firemen, state troopers, and all law enforcement, the worst most egregious corrupt fiscal offenders against the taxpayers.

Walker's salary is ~$140,000.

The highest paid City Of Milwaukee WI employee is an beat cop lieutenant making over ~$240,000 a year...~$88,000 of that overtime! AN BEAT COP!

Look it up.

The list of Wisconsin teachers, pubic serpents, parasitical law enforcement, administrative, university system professors and staff, technical college system staff, etc., et. al., raping six figure incomes from the taxpayers is astronomically mind bogglingly endless...and completely unsustainable.

...and that's just one State...and the pubic serpent frame of mind of a future presidential candidate from such State.

The Deputy Fire Chief of San Francisco steals over ~$560,000 a year from taxpayers just in base salary. That's the Deputy Fire Chief, NOT the Fire Chief.

Look it up.

Over ~40+ million government worker parasites in this country...local, state, federal...and parasitical third-party contractors sucking off the tit of government.

Did anyone notice Mitch McConnell's wife is an former Secretary Of Labor? Another double- and triple-dipping government parasite household.

The new Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimmel not only steals his parasitic salary but teaches at at least two Wisconsin technical colleges, such WI technical college system being widely known as the most parasitically highly paid for instructors in the nation (research MATC salaries), all such monies being extorted from the taxpayers WITHOUT representation. In other words, Schimmel himself is an triple-dipping government parasite, no matter what his conservative policies are.

Chris Christie's New Jersey cops, individually and collectively as a whole, are close to the top of the list of the most corrupt egregious double- and triple- and quadruple-dipping goverment parasitical thieves this country has ever experienced.

The head of PBS makes over ~$600,000 a year base salary...more than The President Of The United States at ~$400,000.

Look it all up.

I could go on and on and on and on and on...I have enough archived research to fill a library.

Has anybody ever REALLY added up what over ~40+ million government workers are costing you and I, the taxpayers?! I mean, REALLY ADDED IT UP?!

You want to talk about issues that should be addressed?!

The very first is massive bloated government!!!

I want my fucking money back. ALL OF IT!!!

We have to deal with reality, not genuflection. Genuflection is not a strategy, it is what women and little children do, not real men. I'm about winning, freedom and liberty.

Whatever it takes. There is a reason when you see a new project in Dubai, the engineering firm is from Houston. The architects are from Dallas. And most of the workers are from Texas and Louisiana.

We just get it done.

The killing season is coming and no amount of hand-waving and incoherent blather is going to make it go away. Where do you think all those homogeneous nations came from in the first place? There are some good observations out there, but not many that are really capturing the base realities.

- The 2014 electorate is looking like the 2010 electorate, in that it's very close to a high-water mark for Republicans. The turn-out models from 2010 held very well, plus a little bump for enthuasism. The polls were very good, across the board, with one weird exception being VA, which is within the margin of error, but very tight. VA has turned out to be very hard to poll, and it's not clear why. See former Rep. Eric Cantor for more details.

- 2014 was a good map year for the GOP, in that it was not defending any particularly vulnerable incumbents and it had a lot of 1st or 2nd term red state Democrats. Again with the exception of VA and maybe LA, they swept the board, returning red-state Senate seats to the GOP. Long-standing abominations like WV being represented by a conservative democrat were undone, and the completion of a sort of purifying of the Senate is upon us. The history of the Senate being run by extra-party politicians who stood astride the strictures of the party are over. The Democratic and Republican establishment have completed a four-cycle purge and have reigned in the Senate.

- The pundits trying to make a statement about 2016 based on 2014 are quite literally, retarded. The mandate that was delivered by voters suggests nothing more than the power of the GOP to consolidate the white voter and make good candidate choices. 2016 will be almost certainly be a wave year for Democrats, as the electorate returns to the Presidential year composition and the GOP defends vulernable first term incumbents in blue states.

- There is literally nothing checking the Republicans power to enforce policy via the pocketbook. Nothing. Budget and appropriations are not subject to filibuster, and require only 51 votes to pass. The GOP can use whatever blunt force is required to get any budget they wanted approved, and Obama's only options are to veto, pocket veto, or sign. They can stop social security checks, defund the military - anything they want. The GOP base should be prepared to be once again disillusioned when their politicans concoct some reason why a conservative budget and fiscal policy cannot be adopted.

The most interesting thing to me in this cycle has been the staying power of GOP governors, like Walker and Scott and Kaisch and Brownback. Brownback, for example, who has totally implemented a GOP-inspired economic model that he was within 3 points of losing in blood red Kansas. It demonstrates that people will take some depressed economic indicators in order to have a government that is conservative in nature and practice.

But that was before the Mexicans. They came in about ten years ago and started buying up all the property in Oak Cliff. They have ethnically cleansed the Negroes from the neighborhood, and are about to do the same to Pleasant Grove, my old neighborhood which adjoins Oak Cliff. Today, Davis Blvd is a brightly-lit avenue lined with thriving small businesses, banks, shopping centers, and supermarkets, almost all of which are owned by Mexicans. Oak Cliff has gone from being a slum to being the hottest real estate market in Dallas. And it's all because of Mexicans.

JD, the only socially interesting thing I have seen in the numbers so far is that the GOP is continuing to consolidate the white vote. I think they picked up about another 15% of the remaining white vote, which would be the 3rd election in a row where they increased their share of white voters.

You really have to give it to democrats to run on the worst agenda they could have picked. The "war on women" and the "minimum wage" were the two issues they selected. Women voters were already a big bloc, and so the upside was very limited there. The federal minimum wage is a non-starter, and many states have already exceeded it. Just so stupid. Big surprise that all the exit polls place economic performance as the #1 issue, by huge margins.

Alright Tiny Tim, it's time for the upper cut.

I'm a born and raised Minnesotan who has lived most of my adult life in California and now I am a Texan. Between living in California and Texas, I lived in Mexico (that's Mexico the country, not New Mexico the state). Oh, and I'm married to a Mexican also.

So let's step through it:
1) The Mexican colonization of California is pervasive. Whether La Raza the group is involved or not, there are tons of "Hispanic rights" organizations all over that God forsaken state.
2) Mexicans are unquestionably proud of their heritage. That heritage does not include fighting for any sort of actual freedom regardless of how their Catholic background makes them see more conservative.
3) Texicans are still Mexican and they are closely tied to their heritage (See point 2). Up here around Austin and from what I've seen in Dallas and heard from other friends around the state, there is a lot of push by Mexicans to assert themselves in to the political process in order to Mexicanize the state.

It's true that Texas is not nearly as colonized as California, but don't be mistaken, it's just been a slower process for Texas because it has resisted the welfare state a bit longer. Texas is also not as unionized as California and that has made a difference.

California experienced a tidal wave of colonization where Texas is getting the thousand paper cut treatment.

Perhaps your experience down there close the border is a little different; I'll grant you that, but it's not representative of the state.

Tuck tail Tiny Tim, your time is up.

Wendy Davis ran on the most aggressive abortion agenda in Texas history and the "conservative" Mexicans voted for her 55% to 44% for Greg Abbott. That's a losing formula every stinking time. All the border districts are solid blue and they creep further north as time goes on.

The majority do not seem to share our values. In the construction industry in our area, Mexicans routinely work on the 4th of July and Thanksgiving and do not celebrate these holidays, but Cinco de Mayo is a big deal.

They overburden emergency rooms, the welfare system and the criminal justice system. They routinely depress test scores in the schools and divert funds to remedial classes at the expense of the rest of the students.

I think Texans thinking their Mexicans are special snowflakes are kidding themselves. Not all Mexicans are like that? Sure, but the majority are which is all that matters.

Those are the numbers. Knowing some guy who voted for Bush or is generally conservative is utterly irrelevant. The numbers speak for themselves.

Tell it to the Rhodesians. Besides, we are reliably informed that these Mexicans become conservative, God-fearing Texans the moment they arrive. Pay no attention to their leaders or how they vote.

I don't expect those of you who don't live here to understand the difference between nacos and Mexicans. California gets the nacos; the Mexicans come here, and become Texans.

Seventeen of the poorest 100 counties in the USA are in Texas. In fact ten of the poorest 30 are in Texas. Just looking at the demographic makeup of the poorest shows them to be around 95% hispanic. Most of these counties seem to be along the Mexican border.

But I guess the rest of us don't need to worry since these residents will kill animals, clean them, and cook them. So no need for the rest of us to pick up the tab.

Now some Hispanic soldiers in the US military do go to Mexico and work for the cartels as assassins and enforcers. Typically they are marine sniper and recon from what I am told. They get rich in a few months, live in large houses on the beach, and ship their families to the US to keep them from being killed, and they usually end up dead.

Keep in mind they in actuality work for the CIA and the elite power structure. The cartels are controlled by whites in America, as is Al Qaeda, even though only the very top of the drug gangs and Al Qaeda know that.

Several of our employees are retired MS-13 and other gangs (probably some active???). They broke away and are trying it another way, and many are excellent employees, reliable and honest.

Whites are still the majority, but we elected Bush and Obama.

Actually that is not quite true. Obama won the election in 2008 with 43% of the white vote. He also won in 2012 with about 43% of the white vote. In other words, whites did not elect Obama. Had the USA had the demographics that we had when Reagan won his landslide in 1984, Obama would have been handily defeated.

Anonymous Lana November 05, 2014 1:32 PM

"I too am an owner of a Construction company. All I have to say is if it weren't for Hispanics we wouldn't exist, and I suspect neither would you."

Bull. The minimum wage in 1983 in Texas was $1.40. A good entry level construction job paid $8-$10 per hour. That is roughly six times minimum wage and it was a great deal for those with a high school education. The minimum wage in 2014 in Texas is $7.25. A good entry level construction job pays anywhere from $8-$10 per hour. People will work hard and dangerous construction jobs for 6 times minimum wage. People will work at Taco Bell and pass on the 75 cents per hour because the incentive to do the hard work is gone. Importing cheap labor to drive down labor costs is exactly why Americans won't take these jobs any more. They no longer pay.

The first generation of illegals were brought in to cut wages and take jobs from American workers. Now they are Mexican subcontractors, bringing illegals in and putting both American workers and American subcontractors out of business. The next generation will start putting American construction companies out of business by exclusively hiring cheap Mexican labor. And needless to say, almost none of them are paying taxes on any of this.

Sorry Tim, after May 1st 2007 any hope you had of convincing me of your argument died with the worker's rights rallies across the country. Watching protesters marching through my state capital here in Oregon waving the Mexican flag, kinda set my "superior" tone. Flags mean something. At the time, all those equality notions taught to me by my professors in high school and college popped into my head. The good 'ol "Look at if from their perspective" line. I thought, what would the attitude be of Mexicans to one thousand Yanqui protesters marching through a city down there waving the stars and stripes demanding "rights"?

Difster said, "Apparently you know nothing about Mexico. It's pretty easy to live anonymously there. Mexicans are furiously loyal to Mexico; your argument is invalid."

Apparently you don't know anything about Mexico. I have talked to a dozen young men from Mexico this week. I had this conversation with one who said "I told my wife if Ebola ever hits the valley (South Texas), we are going back to Mexico. My wife said, but they will kill us if they find out we lived here. I told her I would rather die by a gun than Ebola and we will hide out in the mountains until we can come back".

The lady who does my hair said "I was in Mexico visiting relatives with my 5 year old grandson. We were in a store and my grandson said in English "grandma" and the whole store turned and stared at him. I had to run out of their and got back to the US as quick as I could. The cartel will kidnap him or kill him and me if there were any cartel members in the store. Luckily there weren't".

Yeah, just lay low and it is paradise. You absolutely don't have a clue.

I have hardcore ex-gang and Mexican mafia members we hire tell me there is no way in hell they can go back or their families can go back because as soon as it is found out you came from America you are dead.

11-B, did I designate a country of origin for MS-13. I can assure you there are many MS-13 gang members from Mexico. One of our foreman is ex-MS-13 from Mexico.

Nicest most professional guy I have met in a while. Does a great job for the company.

If we didn't hire ex-criminals we wouldn't have a workforce. Go to the construction site of a large refinery being built and it looks like a reunion of MS-13, Mexican Mafia, Zetas, etc.. If it weren't for the Mexicans and Hispanics construction would come to a standstill.

I never understood statements like this. I live in Missouri and see roofers with all mestizo crews. When I ask them about it, they give me a similar answer. Yet they can never explain to me how homes were built and roofed in 1999, before the immivasion really hit my part of the nation. I even ask the roofing company owners, all veterans of the business themselves, how did they ever accumulate their years of experience and know-how given that the industry would not have existed without the mexicans.

Of course Lana is correct in pointing out that the mexicans were brought in to cut wages. But people can't say that.

Right but some people were saying that, and I was gong after your comments, to show that they had no relation to my argument.

Blogger Tiny Tim November 05, 2014 1:45 PM

The newly arrived cartel guys will respect you professionally if you show no fear and treat them with respect. If they want to stare you down while in the office taking an application (happens on occasion) I walk up to them, look in their eye and say "how's it going" in front of their compadres and show no fear. Nothing has ever gone any further than that. I do carry a pistol under permit though, just in case.

Anonymous Difster November 05, 2014 1:45 PM

Tiny Tim, you're full of crap on the cartel stuff. If you're MS-13, you get killed in Mexico. And all those guys from different cartels in the same place? They'd be killing each other because they've all had their friends and relatives killed by rival cartels.

Also, there are thousands upon thousands of non-criminal (except for being illegal) workers for the construction trade.

Blogger Josh November 05, 2014 1:46 PM

Anonymous 11B November 05, 2014 1:51 PM

11-B, did I designate a country of origin for MS-13.

You did not, but history did. MS-13 was founded by Salvadoran immigrants in the 1980s. If mexicans are joining this gang, that's bad news.

That's not true. What you meant to say is that if you could not hire criminals and mexicans, you would not be able to build the refineries without raising wages. We got Oklahomans to build the Alaska pipeline in some of the most inhospitable terrain on earth. You don't think they would come to Texas to build your refineries? We get Americans of all types heading to North Dakota to frack oil. You don't think they'd come down to Texas if the wages were right?

Anonymous Stilicho November 05, 2014 1:52 PM

Sure, and Tad contends that homosexual sex is a good thing. Doesn't make either of you correct although you're both Texans.

The lady who does my hair said

Stop right there. That is gayer than a pink Glock 9mm with a rainbow sticker on the magazine...It's Ricky Martin gay with a side of gay sauce served on an Elton John commemorative plate.

Blogger Tiny Tim November 05, 2014 1:52 PM

Ladies, the truth is that is who is working in construction in Texas. I don't make the rules, I am just telling you how it is. I was on a billion dollar project a few weeks ago and there were 85% Hispanics on the job, a few blacks, and white management.

There were more gangs represented than you could shake a stick at.

As far as the country of origin of the MS-13 guys, I have no idea. I assumed they were Mexicans but I guess I don't care and never asked and assumed what I did.

So I live in South Texas, work in Construction, and you doubt my exposure to drug gangs.

Josh and Difster, you are ill informed or stupid. I am not sure which.
