This one is tricky

It should be absolutely fascinating to hear how this latest banker "suicide" is explained away.
The dust has barely settled on the latest high profile banker suicide in which Deutsche Bank's associate general counsel, and former SEC regulator, Charlie Gambino was found dead, having hung himself by the neck from a stairway banister, and here comes the latest sad entrant in the dead chronicles of 2014 when earlier today, the Post reports, a Citigroup banker was found dead with his throat slashed in the bathtub "of his swanky downtown apartment, authorities said Wednesday."

Unlike previous "clearcut" suicides, this time there may have been foul play: the Post adds that "there was no knife recovered at the scene, leading officials to suspect the death was not a suicide, and they were trying to determine who had access to his apartment."
I like how the absence of a knife leads officials "to suspect the death was not a suicide". After all, perhaps his fingernails were excessively long and sharp? Or maybe his rubber ducky known to be unusually aggressive? Considering that they got the press to bite on the "suicide" of the banker who shot himself "seven or eight times" with a nailgun as well as that of the scientist who managed to stuff himself in a duffel bag, don't count them out here.

It was a knife made out of ice. It melted.

Blogger Markku November 19, 2014 3:49 PM

Clearly he had ebola. That's why he killed himself. Then, he got resurrected as a Godless Ebola Zombie, and got rid of the knife.

This clearly calls for common sense gun control...

Anonymous Dumb founded November 19, 2014 3:56 PM

It's pretty clear cut, really.

He cut his own throat, threw the knife out the bathroom window, closed the window and then climbed into the bathtub. He was clearly trying to create suspicion of a conspiracy.

Open and shut case of suicide.

Anonymous DrTorch November 19, 2014 3:57 PM

Slashing your own throat? Weird way to do it, I should think.

I understand sometimes it pays the criminals to off whistle-blowers. But what's the point here? What former secrets of the banksters aren't pretty well known by now?

Washington Mutual and Countrywide both went under. This all happened out in the open and I don't believe anyone paid any price. Basically, it seems the public and the government both accept CEO's in the banking "industry" who run their businesses into the ground, arrange a bailout and exit with tens of millions of bonuses.

There just isn't any motive to kill a whistle-blowing bankster.

For all we know, since he lived in Greenwich Village, he called into one of those CL listings, and a freak came in and killed him, and it may have nothing to do with his bankster ways. George Weber, of WABC radio suffered the same ending.

It doesn't seem like it's been framed as suicide to me. Who'd be dumb enough to do that and take the knife with them?

"It doesn't seem like it's been framed as suicide to me. Who'd be dumb enough to do that and take the knife with them?"

A hit man who thinks that the key part is the killing, not the things afterwards. However, it would probably have looked more like a suicide if he had slit his wrists with a nail gun.

"A Handy Guide to Bankster Suicides" maybe?

Thank You for mentioning these events. If they weren't noted here, or at Zero Hedge, I doubt most of us would ever know about them. Looks like the Gnomes are 'brushing out their footprints' as things start to go pearshaped.

I think it is called Assisted Suicide. It's a big deal in the EU, it seems.

Lots of those banker's deaths were probably Assisted Suicide as well, although perhaps involuntary.

Vox, maybe this is really about #BanksterGaters, who want to design, develop, and play...er...I mean market the kinds of financial products we want to sell to unwitting dupes...American idiots...pension funds.

Anyway...versus the anti-#BanksterGaters, who will literally drink the blood of the banksters rather than let them get off scot-free. Or something like that.

It's preferable to telling the people that there are one or more killers on the loose targeting bankers. And getting away with it. Would almost certainly inspire copycats.

Blogger Shimshon November 19, 2014 6:34 PM

The presumption of suicide is odd, is it not? None of these people sound like whistle blowers. Maybe one or more people are actually offing bankers as a class.

Anonymous Noah B. November 19, 2014 6:45 PM

He used a scalpel that he had tied to a bundle of helium-filled balloons with a length of fishing line. When released the scalpel, the balloons simply carried it away. The balloons also carried away the small dowel rod he used to prop the window open, allowing it to fall shut and latch itself.

Case closed.

Charlie Gambino? Seriously? As in Gambino crime family? A mysterious suicide? This really can't be more obvious. Much like Bernie Madoff who "Made-off" with all of that money. Or perhaps Ellen DeGenerous which, from what I hear, is french for "degenerate".

It's really an open joke. Too bad it goes over the heads of most people due to the gov. run brainwashing warehouses ("public school").

But it still doesn't beat the guy who got suicided with a nail gun. 7 times. In the chest. With a final nail in the head. In a state that allows anyone to buy a normal revolver. Because hey, if you're gonna go, go out with STYLE.

I can't wait for the guy who gets suicided by cutting off his own head using dental floss.

contestant: Giraffe

explanation: It was a knife made out of ice. It melted.

Logical, reasonable, simple, creative. Sherlockian. Yet ... it lacks complexity, flare.

Score: 18

contestant: Guitar Man
explanation: For all we know, since he lived in Greenwich Village, he called into one of those CL listings, and a freak came in and killed him, and it may have nothing to do with his bankster ways. George Weber, of WABC radio suffered the same ending.

Same as Salt below, only fleshed out well, a plausible scenario that can calm the public at large.

Score: 41
final thoughts: Good job Guitar Man!

contestant: Salt
explanation: Is it suicide of you hire the hit on yourself?

Straightforward, agatha christy-en, twisted.

Score: 12
final thoughts: It was a far stab at the problem Salt, but needed a bit more

contestant: Noah B
explanation: He used a scalpel that he had tied to a bundle of helium-filled balloons with a length of fishing line. When released the scalpel, the balloons simply carried it away. The balloons also carried away the small dowel rod he used to prop the window open, allowing it to fall shut and latch itself.

What can I say? Ingenious, complex, demented, utterly insane yet clearly workable.

Score: 47
final thoughts: Objectively, Guitar Man has the better explanation, but there is no way I could something this beautiful demented take anything less than first place! Noah, I am happy to say that you win this contest!

First Place :Noah B with his helium balloon theory
Second Place: Guitar Man

honorable mention: Dumb Founded for his ingenious explanation of the next Involuntary Assisted Suicide brought to you by TPTB

Dear commenters. If you read the NY Post article linked in the body of the ZH story, it is plainly stated that suicide is suspected because a knife was found under the body. Now I enjoy a dead banker conspiracy story as much as any atheist anarcho-capitalist champion of dark enlightenment, but sometimes a suicide is just a suicide.

Agreed. Clearly after slashing his throat he put the knife under his body out of consideration for the investigators because he was afraid they would not be able to see the knife in all the blood and would likely cut their fingers while lifting him out.

it is plainly stated that suicide is suspected because a knife was found under the body.

It also plainly stated that Tad was seen entering the building with the victim and leaving alone.:

His body was found by a doorman Tuesday, after his boyfriend called building operators and said he was worried for the banker’s safety.

Miller was last seen on surveillance video getting off an elevator at about 6 p.m. Monday with a mysterious man who was not his beau. The unidentified male was later spotted on camera living(sic) alone.

Investigators, however, believe the death is a suicide because of the nature of the wounds and the fact a knife was found under his body, sources said.

Why did you leave that out.............. Tad?

And now for something completely different:

Woman’s text from British banker’s apartment minutes before she was murdered: ‘I want to get out of here’

HONG KONG — Minutes before she was murdered at the Hong Kong flat of the British banker Rurik Jutting, an Indonesian woman he had taken there from a nightclub sent a text message to a friend saying: “I want to get out of here”.

The body of Seneng Mujiasih, who also used the name Jesse Lorena, was found by police on the sitting room floor of Mr. Jutting’s 31st floor home at about 3.45 a.m. on Nov 1, according to local reports. Ms. Mujiasih, who was about 30, had wounds to her throat and buttocks and a knife reportedly lay next to her body.

"a knife reportedly lay next to her body"......obvious suicide. And now some poor innocent banker is being persecuted.

Hey. I just noticed. If you subtract the "b" and add a "w" you get wanker. And what are organized criminal gangs of wankers? Wanksters!
