VPFL Week 11

67 Mounds View Meerkats (6-5-0)
59 King (5-6-0)

71 Clerical Errs (2-9-0)
49 Greenfield Grizzlies (8-3-0)

64 Bane Cornshuckers (7-4-0)
60 Favre Dollar Footlongs (5-6-0)

54 RR Redbeards (7-4-0)
52 Boot Hill Bogs (2-8-1)

80 Texas Chili Eaters (6-4-1)
45 Gilbert Gamma Rays (6-5-0)

I've got 36 more points than any other team and I'm in 5th place. This is all too typical of my fantasy football seasons. Not a bad performance by the Vikes, respectable enough to avoid too much mocking from the Packers fans, anyhow.

That's why it is important to play defense in fantasy...

Good rally by the Vikes, despite the Pack's careful preparation for them. The Tiney's season can be summed up with this photo.
NFL.com asks
What is Adrian Peterson's future with Vikings?
For their part, the Vikes are saying they do want him back, but it seem not only does Baddell want to screw AD over but the team as well:
In short, don't expect to see Peterson until he can be considered for reinstatement April 15, 2015
Which really hurts his value as trade bait.
Peterson is strongly considering moving on and who can blame him? It's not like the team had his back, at best they've been indifferent to the whole thing.
My guess? With little trade value, they'll waive him after the draft.

The NFC South should forfeit their playoff spot. There is a realistic chance that Atlanta is going to win the division with a 6-10 record.

Also, how lucky is the AFC North. they get to play both the AFCS and NFCS. If I were the Dolphins, I would be a little pissed about that.

Blogger YIH November 23, 2014 5:07 PM

Oh, and props to the Raiders, I guess. At least they can say they salvaged something of their season.
Andy Reid is likely still pissed, that actually counts as a division loss - not good at all.

He is getting paid like a top 10 QB and he turns 29. Nobody would want him. Vikings will probably use all this as an excuse to cut him and move on. AP will sign with another team for half of what he is making now. Probably oakland because that is where everybody goes to get paid.

That Thurs. night game could actually hurt both teams!
Division record is first tiebreaker, both for playoff position and draft position.

> Oh, and props to the Raiders, I guess

Before the game, Michael Irvin said Carr reminded him of Aikman, who also started with a seemingly endless winless streak, but once he broke his cherry with a win, the whole team got behind him because he kept pushing through the bad times.

Maybe something good will happen for Oakland, as the rotting stink of the elderly Al Davis' karma dissipates into the ether.

Lions continue proving they aren't the team we thought they were. Very difficult to win an aerial game with a 39% completion rate. And what good is all those thousands of yards if they typically end before the goal line?
At least the next game comes with turkey.

Pats are the team to beat. Look what happens when Brady has some protection.

Like the Raiders leaving... Again.
the rotting stink of the elderly Al Davis. He left the team to his son, who doesn't seem to give a damn.

They look pretty much like they have all season. Dominant D, weak O. New England has just been playing at a whole other level since they were embarrassed by the Chiefs.

I was feeling bad about the Bears absolute pathetic back to back showings against NE and GB but I suspect we are getting a Super Bowl preview next week in GB.

My Bears seem hell bent to finish the season 8-8 so thanksgiving promises to be a spirited affair at least.

That's an improvement over Big (Mr. Sweatpants) Al. Maybe the morons in all the wierd fake warrior gear should get something really scary, like suits and briefcases like the banksters sport. Maybe it will inspire a change in fortune.

... Al Davis. He left the team to his son...

Bit o' trivia;

Al Davis was an assistant football coach at Charleston SC's The Citadel in the mid 1950's. (Citadel cadets fired the first shots of the War for Southern Independence). His son, Mark Clark Davis was named in honor of the Commandant of The Citadel at that time...the "American Eagle", General Mark Clark of WWII's Italian campaign fame. Former Raider player, assistant coach, head coach and head coach Art Shell is a Charleston native.

Just Win, Baby.

Maybe something good will happen for Oakland, if the rotting stink of NFL's post 9-11 jingoism, tuck rule perpetuating, feminist kowtowing, Pinktober, PC BS and wussification dissipates into the ether.

Fixed it for ya!!

I ain't holding my breath.

Who knows, that might happen in the owner's meeting.
As fucked up as the NFL is under Baddell, here is what I could see him propose:
Splitting the NFC and AFC into two ''sub-conferences'', (North) East and (South) West. Top two sub-conference teams make the playoffs as 1-2 seed. Next two as 3-4 seed, fifth sub-conference as each 'wild card' team.
That setup would mean no NFC ''South'' team would make the playoffs even as a 'wild card'.
The eight ''divisions'' would be retained for scheduling purposes.
If an 8-8, 7-9 (or even 6-10) team makes the playoffs as a division winner the hue and cry on sports talk radio will be ''The NFL is not the NBA or the NHL! .500 or less teams do not belong in the playoffs!''.
Personally I prefer status quo, but this format even harkens back to 'pre-merger' - NFL east/west, AFL east/west.
But I can see Baddell doing this for PR reasons.

I always thought that shit was silly too. The LA Raiders fans did that too.
Considering how people like Whiskey Betaman do 'tailgating' vs. how (American) Football fans do tailgating, I can see why the Rams put 1000+ miles between themselves and Disneyland.

The Giants are up 21-10 at the half? Didn't the Cowboys see what happened to the Chefs Thursday?

Anonymous Will Best November 23, 2014 10:56 PM

Don't worry Giants decided rather than getting a TD they would give up one instead.

Anonymous Daniel November 23, 2014 10:57 PM

Odell Beckham is a beast. Eli Manning? Eli Manning is an anti-beast.

After what happened with the Chefs vs. the [AFC West division] Raiders it would not have been surprising if the Giants had managed to beat the Cowboys.

Anonymous Will Best November 24, 2014 9:49 AM

The Giants have been too inconsistent to be good. But they are capable of good. It makes them dangerous. Quite frankly, they should have won that game, their defense just decided it was going to play 57 minutes instead of 60.
