AC explains why misery loves company

This is an interesting, even ingenious explanation for what strikes so many of us who are sane as inexplicable: why are the rabbits always so hell-bent on attacking those who have nothing to do with them and are not harming them in any way?
As things get worse, the stimulus required to irritate them to action will grow ever less. Since the rabbit is too cowardly to attack their enemy themselves, their go-to strategy will be to try and make everyone they see unhappy, and turn any threat they can find in our populace upon the successful.

This strategy is an outgrowth of something innate to the undeveloped amygdalae – a fundamental, penetrating sense of helplessness. If your amygdala is developed, it has been developed through experience. When it encounters adversity, it scans your brain for a solution, finds it stored in memories of prior experiences, and it will then drive behaviors to address your adversity. As a self-sufficient non-rabbit, your amygdala will drive you to fix your own problems.

If, however your amygdala is not acclimated to adversity, then you will not be able to find a solution stored in your amygdala, and you will feel helpless. Once you are helpless, and your amygdala is applying aversive stimulus to drive you to take action, your focus will direct itself to making others solve your problems for you. Then, rather than fixing your problems yourself, you will focus on making everyone else miserable, in the hopes that to alleviate their misery they will solve your problem for you. Suddenly you are laying down in the middle of a freeway, basically telling other people that unless they fight your enemies for you and fix your problems on your behalf, you will stop traffic, and prevent them from getting home.
One can observe signs of this even in their customary language. "This is a problem." "Don't you see how that is a problem?" "I find it troublesome." "That is problematic." "I have a real problem with that." What they are really saying is "I have a problem: I am scared and unhappy. I want you to fix it for me."

But because they are entirely irrational and less than entirely sane by any reasonable measure, the very last thing they are going to do is listen to you or permit you to address their actual problem. Instead, they're going to try to control you, so that you will obey their inept direction in fixing what they perceive, wrongly, to be the problem. And even if the problem doesn't get fixed - and it won't - at least they get the satisfying relief of feeling that they are no longer helpless, because they are ordering you around.

I used to assume it was stupidity that drove their behaviors, but it can require a significant amount of attention and perseverance to manipulate things the way they do.
It's more like they have blinders on, they discovered a paradigm that can be applied to anything and they never consider any other strategies.
Truly, when your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. I can only pray that their eyes be opened.

A fine hypothesis of the nurture side of the equation. And I presume the author primarily means the SJW white female types and their beta orbiters from space station Scalzi? If so I blame it on the Little Missy Syndrome of spoiling the girls as we do here in America.

But then again what do low SMV white women have for a political outlet besides Crazy? At least women of color can fall back on race or ethnic pride. Even the mestizo rollers (girls as wide as tall) are not as miserable as a low SMV lost in her own misery.

A quibble: they may find a solution avaliable. If they do find one, feelings of failure or fear will prevent them from using it. And then comes the rationalization that feels like rational thought. Therefore, that legit solution isn't an option.

With these people, you are the solution that works. Feeling smug over their ability to rationalize it all away is icing on the cake.

Naw, it's never about you. It's always about themselves.

Their go-to strategy is "Everybody pay attention to me!!"

Making everyone around them unhappy is just the unintended consequence.

This is a brilliant hypothesis. It also covers them saying things like 'this is unacceptable' instead of just plain 'wrong'. Maybe one of the reasons they insist that there is no objective good and evil is because somebody they had earlier labeled evil may be in a position to solve a problem for them in the future

I heard two guys in the radio this morning discussing the "white privilege" issue and I think this ties in. Rabbits something they perceive as a problem and blame it on white privilege. Their "feel bad" over various events that have happened forces them to try to make everyone else unhappy because of the color of the skin they were born in rather than a) seek the hard solutions to the racial issues in this country or b) get down on their hands and knees and actually work with the people who's plight they claim to be wringing their hands over. It's not a matter of "do as I say" but more a matter of "feel bad because I feel bad because of white privilege".

And the damnable thing about this is they actually believe their wippy ass rhetoric is helping and making a difference.

"I see now how the lord of the silent world has bent you... He has taught you to break all of [the moral laws] except this one, which is not one of the greatest laws; this one he has bent till it becomes folly and has set it up, thus bent, to be a little blind Oyarsa in your brain. And now you can do nothing but obey it, though if we ask you why it is a law you can give no other reason for it than for all the other and greater laws which it drives you to disobey." (Out of the Silent Planet, C.S.Lewis)

All they have left is fairness, a little blind god that, since they cannot build up, leads them to tear everything down until everything is equally low. They can use great cunning in the service of this false god, but they can't navigate by any other stars unless their eyes are opened one way or another.

Men, bigger amygdala - end of story.

Vox, no point whipping yourself into a fury over this. Rex Harrison dealt with this definitively exactly 50 years ago. Of course, having asked the question men went on to invent the CT, MRI and PET scans simply to confirm their suspicions.

For those who are genuine followers of Jesus Christ, a totally different response to stress or problems should be expected.

We turn to the Lord in times of stress or trouble. Faced with stress we call on God through prayer to hear us, and to answer our prayer.

God says, in Psalm 50:15
"And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me."

Instead of an inward focus on self, we are called to turn to the Creator and rely on HIm for help in time of trouble.

Blogger Doom December 12, 2014 8:13 AM

Part of it, perhaps. Doesn't matter. If someone lies down in the road to block me, it'll be the last time they do it. I won't be highjacked, one way or the other, by blacks, whites, women, or anything. If you break, you have put yourself in their hands. Oh, I suppose, if someone tries, if they look... civil enough, I will simply drive around, or whatnot. But I won't stop. Nor should you. That isn't just on the road, that is anywhere in life. Don't stop for these people.

Sure, they haven't (to my knowledge) killed drivers yet, or various other stoppers. But as soon as that method fails to work for them, they will find other methods. These are the people who will murder you while crying for help. Or begin working with others who will do it for them. It's coming.

Anonymous hardscrabble farmer December 12, 2014 8:21 AM

I practice sustenance farming with my family. I have a specific number of tools, and while I am physically fit I am limited by my abilities as a human male in late middle age. Every day of my life is solving a set of problems using what I have on hand and while it is often challenging, it is supremely rewarding to discover solutions to problems and implement them until completed. There is no service to call, no government agency to rely on, no 800 number to dial for assistance. What happens must be dealt with, by me, until it is resolved no matter the weather, the difficulty, the level of risk. My reward is satisfaction in a job well done.

Whenever a progressive type visits the farm- and they do- the overwhelming cookie cutter response of virtually all of them is this observation- "It seems like a lot of hard work."

In a nutshell, I think that's your disconnect. The very concept of "hard work" is anthema to them. It is puzzling why anyone gven an option in life would choose labor over rest, industry over indolence, focus over distraction. The rewards for these choices are so strikingly dissimilar it constitutes the very crux of our disconnect. One cannot sit their way to accomplishment, nor can self esteem be awarded via a third party. Physical labor is an indignity to them. I think the reason so many of them obssess over these concepts is because they do not possess the understanding of these realities. And like someone who lives in poverty longing for the trappings of wealth, they cannot stop thinking about it and looking for the underlying reasons that keep them from attaining it. They want privilege without the desire for the work that brings it, so they ask those who have it to give it away, lest they be troubled.

The aphorism "idle hands are the Devil's workshop" seems apropos.

Underlying most of this anti-white SJW hysteria is their belief in something that doesn't exist, equality. When their latest cause of inequality is destroyed by their latest solution, yet they still haven't achieved "equality", they invent another culprit to blame for inequality and another host of solutions. The common denominator for all of their "solutions to inequality" is blaming the successful for cheating or rigging the system in their favor and absolving the losers of any responsibility for their lack of success (inequality). The system created after the civil rights movement was the most level playing field any two diverse groups could ever hope to create on earth and it failed miserably to achieve "equality". Every solution the left has ever proposed has discredited itself and yet here we are living in a world DOMINATED by these people who offer nothing but more of their poison and this latest dose they are concocting is the most lethal yet. They have decided that in order to destroy white privilege, they have to destroy white people. They aren't hiding this any longer, they are telling us straight up that that's the game plan. There is not going to be any Kumbaya sing along, its no longer possible if it ever was. Its time that we start shifting our conversations away from debating the motives of our enemies and focus on defining the world we will create once they have been defeated. We need to start writing our version of Brave New World for our future.

Sounds like fear based decision making coupled with a materialist world view.

The only agents of free-will they admit to are other humans and as long as they feel in control of those other humans they feel safe, or as safe as they are capable of feeling.

I'm guessing that a failure to induce fear in someone, and therefore control, is enough to mark that someone as a threat.

Or envy. They see in you and your way of life what they would like to be or know they should be, but rather than looking in the mirror and changing who they are, they would rather try to make us just like them or get us to retreat into the same miserable, muddy rabbit hole they dug for themselves. Why should they have to sit in their dirty diaper all alone?

In other words, they seek to induce us to stray from the right path, a path they themselves should be on and and a path which is so, so far above their own. They wield their favorite and cherished weapons of hypocrisy and deceit, secretly hoping that we will eventually throw our lot in with their own and succumb to their own base views and way of life. They find comfort in their fantastical illusion that they can fashion everyone around them into their own perverted image. They are double-minded men who look at their faces in a mirror and, after looking at themselves, scurry away and immediately forget what they look like.

No, they don't believe in equality. What they actually believe is that they're special snowflakes who are better than everyone else because they're willing to be magnanimous lords to their unfortunate inferiors. Magnanimous with our money and opportunity anyway, certainly not with their own. They're no different than an antebellum slave owner who needed a plantation full of slaves to maintain his status and wealth.

Or envy

Envy yes. Envy is worse than greed. If your neighbor has a bigger house than you, greed might drive you to cheat or steal to get an even bigger house yourself, but envy can drive you to burn his house down.

The French are able to reach into their collective racial amygdala and defeat any enemy they can eat? Good for frogs; good for snails; not so clear for Germans. I'm sure that's why they're scheming even now to figure out how to make the Algerians America's problem.

Anonymous MrGreenMan December 12, 2014 1:32 PM

I've always heard the position as exemplified in the Crook in the Lot, where it's OK to lift up the plaintive cry, but the goal should be to ask the Almighty how one can conform to His will and what lesson one should learn in the situation - what spider needs to be killed in some dark corner of the soul. This appeals to me as both the saint working out his own salvation through the Holy Ghost as well as, from the brief bit of brain workings described above, being a problem solving strategy that doesn't make it some other human's problem to solve by spreading your misery.

“When it encounters adversity, it scans your brain for a solution, finds it stored in memories of prior experiences, and it will then drive behaviors to address your adversity.”

From what I recall from Psychology 101, the function of the amygdala is responsible for instinctual reactions, e.g. fear, aggression. This region develops EARLY. The frontal cortex controls reasoning and helps us think before act. This part develops LATER.

So, based on this information, it would appear that CC ought to be referring to the frontal lobe rather than the amygdala.

Unless, of course, there is someone out there that is able to offer sources that validate his theory involving this unique role of the amygdala.

Blogger J Thomas December 13, 2014 9:27 AM

I totally agree Johnny. This just proves that the tendency to "sin" is developed through trauma.

The trauma of being banished from Eden is probably where it all started.

God allows little children to be traumatized. Therefore he is the cause of all evil and sin. God is the ultimate villain and owes the human race an apology for fucking up (and needs to come down to earth and fix all our broken minds that he broke).
