The customer is not always right

Or desired. This is an interesting technological development in customer relations:
Travelers are often asked to review their hotel, restaurant and car service. But increasingly, it goes both ways.

Drivers for Uber and Lyft, for example, rate their passengers from one to five stars at the end of each ride. If a rider receives three stars or fewer, the driver and passenger will not be paired up again. And at OpenTable, the restaurant booking system, customers are banned if they do not show for a reservation too many times.

These are among the ways that sophisticated rating systems can turn on the customer, identifying the best and worst among them.
I wonder how long it will take for this to go ideological. After all, if we know one thing about SJWs, they politicize absolutely everything and they aren't shy about cutting off their nose to spite their face. It won't surprise me if we see customers being banned from various establishments and services because their patronage is unwanted due to politics. Which is, of course, an unprotected right, or at least it is until Christians start using it as an effective proxy to deny services to those whose behavior they believe to be abomination.

I've lost one job and three book contracts due to corporate correctness to date. Which I always enjoy pointing out to those who claim bakers have to bake cakes they do not wish to bake and permit bed-and-breakfast guests they do not wish to have. As always, the SJWs seek to establish laws that only bite in one direction.

Of course, the costs of corporate correctness can be blessings in disguise. I'd much rather be publishing books through Castalia House than have published Media Whores and The Red Hand of Government with Thomas Nelson and A Throne of Bones with Lion Hudson.

SJWs in anti-GamerGate have put out twitter blockbots for anyone even so much as following a person who uses the hashtag. And yes, they're trying to transform that into an employment blacklist. While simultaneously accusing the other side of both harassment and sitting in echo chambers.

Yup. Stomping on the bottom half of the white bell curve is still attacking whites.

W-word g-word thing-that-shall-not-be-mentioned isn't only non-white mass immigration and forced assimilation in all white countries and only in white countries.

It's the snitches and denunciations. It's the "counseling" for so much as a smirk.

It's discrimination in education and employment.

It's crooked curricula and publicly funded anti-white propaganda. It's the constant promotion of a "culture of death" where stifled fertility (for whites) is practically the highest good within a "liberalism" Jews define.

It's lack of any explicit political representation, while every other race has representatives that are regularly invited to political "grand bargains" where those that are present become beneficiaries of grand new schemes, and those that are not present are looted or at best have their interests ignored.

It's every aspect of living under the rule of people who may look white but have no loyalty to whites, and who nurse to their breast grievances against whites, so intensely that they can't refrain from constantly making moves that in sum imply the g-word of whites.

I foresee an article on this practice of customer evaluation, containing some expression of the idea commonly signified by the phrase 'disparate impact', as well as some variety of euphemism for the term 'nigger'.

Expect to see all the top-rated customers being white-privilege-having Josephs and Johns, and all the bottom-rated customers being named Jamal, Shamone, Mohammed.

Expect to see it challenged in court, and the challenges dismissed. Expect for a time for the system to eject from those businesses that can afford it their more belligerent clientele (of all races, but, quite naturally, of more some than others).

Vox is also right that we should expect the system to be coopted by SJWs. And that we may be able to twist such a system against them.

@ jayb

i began this blog much to publicly, with an excess of personal information bc i could not have forseen the skyrocketting of attention this blog has received. i was not prepared for the legal threats, nor for being hunted by 4chan doxxers and other anti-social justice websites. so it is too late for me.

The blade bites both ways. What beautiful black knighting.

These progs who are quick to cost unprogs their jobs should recognize that many of these unprogs really despise the progressive order, and that the only reason they haven't rebelled against it is that they are so materially well off, that they have something left to lose.

By costing them their jobs, you push them closer to the brink of having nothing left to lose, at which point their rebellion becomes inevitable.

Many of these 'racists' fired for losing their jobs will own guns.

And they will remember that you got them fired.

Not all of them will have the restraint and reserve to keep from attempting to exercise private vengeance

The progressive order only works because of mass compliance. People go along to get along, etc. Show unprogs that going along isn't going to help them get along, take their employment and even their ability to vent online, they aren't going to go along. SJWs, through their overreach, are working to dismantle the progressive order they so powerfully fight to extend.

Sow the wind, reap the windstorm.

Once a year we invite the Gideon's to church and have them give a small talk, and receive an offering for their ministry. We usually do it in January. A couple of weeks ago a very nice woman scheduled an appointment with me (which is always nice because usually people drop these kind of dirty bombs on me while shaking my hand after worship). She began by saying that our congregation shouldn't support sexism...and i waited for the punchline. It was this, "Since the Gideon's only hire (that's the word she used), males, we should not invite them to church, nor support their ministry." I asked her what was more important, that people receive the Word of God or that we support her distorted notion of inclusiveness. She didn't answer directly, but it was clear what was more important to her.

The Gideon's are still coming in January.

Would love to hear more about this.

I was a professional role-player for an international training company. The company was required to submit a complete list of all its personnel to the Red Cross, which did a Google search on everyone. Due solely to this blog, the Red Cross told the company that if it wanted to keep its training contract with them, I could not be among the training personnel. The president is a friend, but he had no choice except to tell me not to come the day before the scheduled training.

This was despite the fact that our section of the previous training session was so effective and well-regarded that the local Red Cross executives showed up to go through it unscheduled on the second day. They care far more about corporate correctness than competence or even saving the lives of their own people; we were training them in surviving hostage situations.

In PC Corporate culture.....everybody is suppossed to have a "voice." Reminds me of funny & fake successory

-Committees: Kind of like teamwork, but without the work

It's nice to see some push-back in today's world. Charles Barkley's comments on Ferguson were funny & although I am not a huge fan of cops.....the statement released by boys in blue in Ferguson was hilarious.

Two times for me.

First time, the company was paying ~$300/person/day to have some 20-something gal lecture us about some nonsense for 5 days. On day two, I was walking into the hotel ballroom, stopped, briefly considered surpressing my integrity, chose not to, left, drove to corporate and to the VP's office and told them I would not be going. He said, go or your fired, I resigned on the spot (The VP turned blue with fear--literally shaking--that somebody was not afraid).

Second time, I didn't even give the damn company notice--I just walked out. Yes, I took a financial hit, but fundamentals are more important (ask Anne Barnhardt about that).

There will be no third time as I refuse to work for SJW and I don't have patience for the cowards who do.

Skills? I am damn good at what I do; I have 1 successful tech startup under my belt as head of I.T.

When/If I ever get a business/income stream going, there will be no SJW shit.

When I die, I will know that I lived bravely.

The Uber database is a gold mine for all sorts of reasons. For example, people having affairs tend to reveal patterns in their travel. Hiring escorts shows a different pattern. The opportunities for blackmail are obvious, at least to me.

I had not considered the SJW angle, though, in the rating system. It's obvious once it is pointed out. The effect of banning someone from Lyft or Uber due to politics would be far reaching in an urbanized zone on the Portland, Oregon model. Of course there would still be public transit. It would take a lot of work to extend a blacklist to trams, subways, etc. but there is no technical reason why it could not be done.

I'm sure there must be some aging STASI officers who could provide implementation advice.

I have family (my sister and brother in law) who work in the ad business. They HATE customer reviews. The stated reason is that you can game the system, the private reason is that it is harder for the ad companies to buy good reviews now.

@Nah "His philosophy is that blacks can't be racist, only whites." I ran into that in high school. I attended a school where whites were in the minority. For some reason, I never seemed to be able to explain that basing things on race is racist. Or that racism isn't necessarily bad in every situation. Oh well, that's life.

According to Critical Race Theory, by definition, people of color cannot be racist due to their powerlessness under the white power structure. Thus, powerless people like Obama, Holder, Powell and (Condi) Rice cannot be racist due to the color of their skin.

An emerging view in CRT, soon to become dominant, is the obvious and necessary conclusion that all white people are inherently racist due to the color of their skin and their privilege in the white power structure. Critical Race Theorists and their SJW compatriots fail to realize that this is a bridge too far. Sure, many will be initially be cowed. However, once the majority realizes that no matter what they do, they will never be able to change their skin and thus will never be able to lose the racist designation, there will be no reason to kowtow to the SJWs and the word will lose what power it has left.

Anonymous Onefiver December 02, 2014 10:23 AM

An emerging view in CRT, soon to become dominant, is the obvious and necessary conclusion that all white people are inherently racist due to the color of their skin and their privilege in the white power structure.

Like this?
1. Racism is judging people by the color of their skin rather than the content of their character. Racism is bad.
2. People with white skins are inherently racist, and therefore inherently bad.

I've run longer verbose versions of this past progtards for 15 to 20 years. If you drag it out long enough it's pretty easy to get them to agree to both statements. Then you remind them of their own definiton of "raycism".

Of course the "white privilege" is intended to provide a way out of the dilemma. Except it doesn't in real life. However real life is not a place progtards live.

Blogger LibertyPortraits December 02, 2014 12:06 PM

I've written on this before since I work in customer service. Ever since reading Dale Carnegie's seminal work on making friends and influencing people, I realized that it shouldn't be just the business doing that, but it was be advantageous for the customer to be like that too. Some of the modern entrepreneurs believe in firing the customers who cost you the most time and money, sort of like banning the unrepentant trolls on a forum or blog. I routinely have to deal with credit seekers; people who constantly call in and threaten to cancel or demand credit for the smallest mishaps in their service. There's this idea that because you are paying for something, you are the king and those serving you are less than dirt who must fully satisfy you, even you are paying hardly anything. This ends up causing businesses to ignore legitimate claims from good customers because bad customers cause personnel to grow stiffened backbones that are unwilling to cater to problems.

It must be nice to be a SJW, hipster, or useless office white these days as money always seems to be there without you having to have a real use, purpose, or ability to actually create wealth.

Uber drivers are for the most part people who do it part-time. They have another job (or are full-time studnets) and work to make some money driving instead of spending money drinking or partying. They work when they want, not when Uber tells them to work. Uber gives up control that way, but in exchange they don't need to pay people to sit around during slow times. Without their drivers, Uber has no business. Filtering out unpleasant customers helps Uber keep their drivers.

And who's more likely to cost the company money in a bogus lawsuit, a reasonably polite customer, or some entitlement-addled malcontent?

It must be nice to be a SJW, hipster, or useless office white these days as money always seems to be there...

That's only an issue at the individual level. Once you expand beyond what a handfull of workers can service, you've got a choice about size. At that point, to take on more customers means taking on more workers and more overhead. Why incur all that additional expense in order to squeeze a little blood out of crappy customers?

Anonymous Discard December 04, 2014 1:34 PM

It used to be just the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai Brith and the Southern Poverty Law Center that maintained and shared/sold blacklists of politically incorrect people. Now, professional quality shunning is available to the masses.
At this point, I think the thing to do is make a blacklist of all the blacklisters. When the lights go out, in 2033 if VD is correct and sooner if I'm correct, make sure that they can't come over to the side of righteousness.
