Mark your calendars

The International Lord of Hate has announced a coming Book Bomb. Be prepared:
Mark your calenders, our next Book Bomb will be this Wednesday.

My goal is to get the stuff on our Sad Puppies suggestion list out there in front of as many people as possible. If you’re unfamiliar with my Book Bombs, that’s where we get as many people as possible to buy a book on Amazon in the same day. Since their bestseller lists update hourly, through the day the book will move higher and higher. Success breeds success, and the higher it gets, more new people see it and check it out.
The purpose, I believe, is to demonstrate Puppy Power. Keep in mind this means buying from Amazon, not Castalia. Spears will be shaken! Shields will be shattered! And links will be provided!

If you've already bought the books, then why not post reviews? They most certainly help too. In the meantime, Patrick Richardson admits that, in being a Sad Puppies supporter, he reveals that he is not a Real Fan:
I read the Hobbit for the first time in Kindergarten.

So I’m not a Real Fan.

I chased the Delikon off Earth in fourth grade and followed Alice down the rabbit hole.

But I’m not a real fan.

I devoured the Chronicles of Prydain and watched the Dark rise in 5th grade.

So I’m not a Real Fan.

By sixth grade I was on my fifth run through of the Lord of the Rings.

So I’m not a Real Fan.

I discovered Col. Falkenberg and met the Moties in 7th grade.

So I’m not a Real Fan.

In the last 40 years I have read hundreds of SFF books, watched hundreds of movies, dreamed of flying on Serenity and riding Sue with Harry Dresden.

So I’m not a Real Fan.
Because it doesn't matter how much science fiction and fantasy you read, it doesn't matter how many cons you have attended, if you aren't a SJW, you're not a Real Fan.

You know what is great about this whole thing? I get to do a good deed and get entertainment at the same time.

Can't wait! I need some new things to read.

I guess that means I'm not a Real Fan, either.

Blogger Doom February 16, 2015 1:49 PM

Bah! I'm reading so slowly, just finishing TIAtheist now, finally. Still, to poke them in the eye, and maybe have more books lined up for the next decade, I might just have to buy. I'll try to keep up, remember. Because, it seems, I am not a real fan either.

Damn but I miss reading good sci-fi. I used to check out a whole five to seven book series, when I happened across an author I really liked, and read them before they were due, then picked up other series from the same author, or similar as I could find, then on to new when I tapped that out. A book every few days, often. Sucks to be mostly dead. Well, sometimes. Nap? Woot!

My mother read to me from Astounding while I was in the womb and I have even been to more than one con, but I'm precluded from being a Real Fan because I am an old white man who holds the works of dead white men in high regard.

I shall have to atone for my original sin by reading Hispanic and Native American literature.

I just finished "The Way of Kings" by Sanderson this last weekend. That is the fourth fantasy book I have read since the new year started. According to my Goodreads shelves, I read 30 science fiction or fantasy books last year.

Does anyone know if that makes me a real fan or not? I'd really like to know, guys...

Blogger Migly February 16, 2015 1:59 PM

Everybody would rather be a fakefan anyway, so it's all good.

Wednesday is the day that I finally get to start my long delayed honeymoon. We'll be flying most of the day. I hope the hotel has internet so we can get in on this! (The wife would love some good new SF.)

SJWs aren't just real fans, they are real Big Ass Fans.

No one blows more air while churning the gears so slowly.

Anonymous Daniel February 16, 2015 2:14 PM

I think that may be a breach of honeymoon protocol, but congratulations!

It is for sure, but I'm taking her to Kauai for two weeks, so she will happily concede some small things.

So, if you already bought the novellas in question, would the proper support be a review?

Anonymous Rolf February 16, 2015 3:06 PM

Are any of them going to be on promotional countdown deal sales? That might help boost sales among those that don't come here.

Nathan - honest reviews help build credibility and momentum.

Yes. It's not necessary, but it would be helpful.

Halfway through Riding the Red Horse now, if that's the Bomblet, I'll just write a review.

I've read Hobbit and Lord of the Rings multiple times, the latter first at eleven years old, in German translation and, later in life, in the English original.

Also I admire Spain and I speak the language passably and fluently enough, if nowhere near perfectly. It was good enough to fool Mendo Scot. And I love Madrid!

But despite all this...

... I'm certainly not a Real fan. I hate Real. I am a Germany fan firs

Blogger Franz Lionheart February 16, 2015 3:24 PM

I am a Germany fan first, and a Bayern fan, perhaps, a far second. Or third.

But never a Real fan. What a boring club.

No way.

Wow that is a pretty impressive list of accomplishments

I am over half-way through The Book of Feasts and Seasons.

Simple incredible. This is fiction I actually want to read.

Pinkaneli: if you dare read a sciffy book on your freaking honeymoon, you are no real fan. A real fan loves SF, but he loves one thing more, and that is SEX. Fanac must take a back seat to Fanny Act. Don't worry: science fiction will still be here when you get back. Now go create some White children, assuming you are White.

Blogger Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus February 16, 2015 6:02 PM

A book bomb?

Seriously, what would Ron Paul say about the blowback involved?

I have no intention of reading while on honeymoon, only the five minutes of buying. Reading is what we will do in the several hour flights.

And I would love to make more WHITE children, unfortuantely we are both past that age where it would be likely. Although she has stated the she would happily change her name to Sarah if it were to happen.

And please spell my name correctly. I have NO pink anywhere in it!

If it helps the SJW's feel any better-- I admit I am not "a real fan".

I'm more of a semi-fan of SF. I like some old stuff, some new stuff, but can't sit still to read many of the titles in the category--- much of it bores me to tears. But I'm a kindle addict, and I like VD and Larry and Wright quite a bit--- so I buy almost all of the titles featured here and even vote in this stupid election which I only care about for tweaking the rabbits.

To paraphrase a bumper sticker during election time: 'I'm Not A Real Fan And I Vote'.

Why do I gotta be Mr. Pink?

My Sasquon membership just came through, so I am proud Hugo Nominator! Woohoo!
Looking forward to some good and some painful reading, and comparing my lists with the various Puppy lists floating around on the interwebs.

Wendell needs to write a book.

Wendell is quite eloquent.

Here, folks, but most of you have probably seen it:

Have SJW infiltrated the scrapbooking community? They really should look into that hobby. Same with the quilting community.

Those communities aren't pushing the Message enough. How dare they have a hobby which doesn't push the Message.

Are there trannies and other deviants represented in the major quilting magazines?

ARE THERE???! Well, why NOT?

vaguely related; remember how i said i could walk into a book store, right now, today, and find just as many copies of Steakley as i could of Wright?

this evening i was in B&N # 2036. they had a single copy of Steakley ( 'Armor', first published in 1984 ) and a single copy of Wright ( 'Count to a Trillion', published in 2012 ).

now, i've got nothing against DAW keeping a blue book on the shelves. but those commie faggots at Tor should be fucking ashamed of themselves that they aren't pushing John C. any harder than this.

My mother-in-law is a quilter and it is an art I think men can respect. It takes hours to do a good quilt and some of them are stunning. However, you are absolutely wrong that the SJW's aren't in quilting. They are. There are many themed quilts that are supposed to represent some outrage or another.

They are terrible.
