Sad Puppies is starting to go viral.

Voxemort the Malevolent. Yeah, that works. I only insist upon being addressed as Supreme Dark Lord for formal occasions and in all Evil Legion of Evil-related correspondence.

Speaking of Sad Puppies, I have removed "The Jenregar and the Light" from the Novella category and replaced it with "Pale Realms of Shade" by John C. Wright, The Book of Feasts & Seasons. You may wish to update your ballots accordingly.

Sadly, it appears the author, Dave Creek, is a racist who says he is made "uncomfortable" being linked to Latinos and "wouldn't want to be in the same room" as Native Americans.

Wouldn't 'Sick Puppy Squad' be more spot on?

Slightly OT, but slightly related..

Last night when I got home from work my wife and kids were watching The Princess Bride so I sat down to watch the end of them because, hey, Princess Bride. And when Westley was explaining what "to the pain" meant to Humperdink, my wife leans over and comments:

"That's like something Vox would do."

I couldn't help it - I watched the rest of the scene imagining Vox as Westley and Scalzi as Humperdink. That scene is a classic to begin with, but it was 10 times funnier last night and I'll never watch it the same way again.

I'd have left Dave ON the list precisely because its "not about him, its about the story"... And after reading his rationale I would have definitely left him on it. He's such a navel gazer that he can't see the reaction he was getting from other so-called "liberals" like himself (and trying to distance himself from) is precisely the problem.

The older I get, the less tolerance I have for so-called liberals. Their solipsistic arrogance just makes me want to punch some of them right in the teeth when I hear them sniff down their noses at those around them.

Your Malevolence,

Right on cue, the rabbits are citing your portrayal of NK Jemison once again to justify their opinion of you as Mister Meany Meanypants from Meanyville. I recall you mentioning that you responded after a considerable time of enduring her nonsense.

I tried searching, but my grasp of Google-fu merely confirmed my status as a Hapless Minion. Can you (or anyone else) provide quotes (and source links) that one might insert into one of the auto-fellatio sessions, um, comment sections?

Anonymous Scintan February 07, 2015 6:03 PM

If the idea is to put a slate of good works to a vote, regardless of the politics, taking books off the list because the author gets the vapors seems to be counterproductive.

Blogger Vox February 07, 2015 6:03 PM

Jemisin first lied about me: "There were two candidates — one of whom was a self-described misogynist, racist, anti-Semite, and a few other flavors of asshole. In this election he lost by a landslide… but he still earned ten percent of the vote."

Then she claimed that me and everyone who voted for me overtly hate her and people like her: "Unlike the ten percent, these people do not overtly hate me, or people like me."

And she also claimed: "Right now there are laws in places like Florida and Texas which are intended to make it essentially legal for white people to just shoot people like me, without consequence, as long as they feel threatened by my presence."

Here is the funny bit: "So: admitting that the land we live on was stolen from hundreds of other nations and peoples? Acknowledging that the prosperity the United States enjoys was bought with blood? That’s a pipe dream."

Stolen from MY people. I am a Native American. She isn't. Who is she to attack the very people from whom she stole the land?

Anonymous MrGreenMan February 07, 2015 6:05 PM

The "self-described" thing is the big lie they continue to always float.

Vox, you may like this article from VDARE.com titled American Indian View of Immigration. Here are a few quotes:

"It may come as a surprise to many white people who have been brainwashed by the media to see Indians as the ultimate liberals, but there are few groups in America today who take a dimmer view of mass immigration than the American Indian."

"If Anglo-America turns this land over to blacks, Mexicans, Asians, Middle Easterners and other foreign peoples, for the Indian, it will be like losing this country for the second time. We have had generations to reconcile ourselves to white America. But we do not know these new people who are coming. We fought no battles with them, made no treaties with them, and have no reason to accord them any special respect."

"In many ways, Indians see the white man as a kind of adopted son—naïve, reckless and destructive, at times—but nevertheless cut from the same warrior cloth as we were. We do not see blacks, Mexicans, Asians, Arabs and others in this light. These peoples may have their own virtues and traditions, but they have no history with us. They are strangers."

Blogger Zimri February 07, 2015 7:58 PM

Possible that Jemisin is part Native American too. There was some of that in the South, mostly among the Seminole. (Not sure about the Cherokee. They had black slaves but I don't know what the miscegenation rate was.)

Blogger Mr.MantraMan February 07, 2015 8:01 PM

It does sound like this Jemisin is a bit of a racial bigot. Are they comfortable at the SFWA with such a person as her spewing her toxic rhetoric at our Sainted Red Man and whites in general?

Yah, if my DNA test comes out positive for Jewish, they have to accept me. They claim they are a tribe. (But not, since the Sinai revelation they are a nation)

Its in the rules. Trouble is, I will be in a bit of a bind because I have been telling my potential compatriots they are required to go live in Israel.

So, Chingachgook (that's a racist name if I've ever seen one)... if someone comes out of the closet past a certain age, are they not worthy of being accepted by the gay community? What age makes it "real?"

Discovering who you are isn't bound by age, moron. Have you any idea how racist and insulting you're being by questioning a person who has discovered who he really was after four decades of living in the dark? Are you really that tone deaf?

Blogger Leatherwing February 07, 2015 11:47 PM

Take Bruce Jenner. He's not really a transgendered person. Since his transformation is taking place after his mid forties, he's just another cismale gendernormative fascist, according to Chingachgook.

A white guy masquerading as a Native American telling a Native American that he's really a white guy. Is there such a thing as ultra-irony?

Anonymous Soga February 08, 2015 1:02 AM

In a funny way, the commenter H2 above is right about Native Americans and whites. There is an intimacy to be found between people who make war upon each other bitterly, and then in the end, make peace as conqueror and conquered, especially when the conqueror shows the conquered unusual mercy.

But Mexicans, Dot-Indians, Africans, and Asians did not conquer the Native Americans. They are strangers to the Native American. NAs have every right and every reason to be wary of this wave of immigration.

Blogger Doom February 08, 2015 2:47 AM

You have WAY too much fun with this. No, no complaints.

Oh, by the way, it may not be just your Latino or Indianness, it might be that you are a breed. I get that all the time too. Elites like tame negroes, simple injuns, vetted Latinos, but not the free-range types, and most certainly not the nu-pedegreed types. Oh, the horror!

When their "rules" are turned and used against them exposing them for their genuine lack of "give a sh*t", you could not possibly be what you, in actuality, are.
Because Disqual.

I'm ready for ONE, just one, consistent hippie, Marxist, Fascist, anti-nature, psych-broken SJW to come to your defense in the name of Multi-minority status.
What the hell beats Multi-minority?

They have set up gods they do not really believe in and posit that no one else could possibly see that they are inconsistent Liars.
They simply wish to have their way with you, and the PPP Fascist State that they worship and tempts them is their self-loathing psychosis gives them every tool at its disposal for them to neuter themselves and everyone else along with them, thus ensuring the Slaver's permanent status.

I think Chingachgook is worried about Stolen Diversity. Just like Bruce Jenner is stealing the transperson status of brave souls like Brianna Wu, Vox, you are stealing the diversity of famous NA peoeples such as Iron Eyes Cody and Ed Ames.

Blogger Gordon February 08, 2015 10:45 AM

Here's the deal, Vox. Jemisin is descended from the Buffalo Soldiers. They're the very people who, after the Civil War, sold out to the white man for the chance to be paid to kill your (and my) people. Her grandparents gleefully stole the land-as mercenaries!

Anonymous rienzi February 08, 2015 10:52 AM

Vox seems to be one of those rare folks who never lets an opportunity go to waste. I happily await the news of the groundbreaking ceremony for the new SFF-themed feather-not-dot casino.

Finesse the SFWA into holding its convention there. Watch SJW's heads explode when they find out who owns the place. See the Ilk do the tomahawk chop. Good times.

What you gonna do when science proves:
You're not who you thought you were.

The closing paragraph from the cover story of Newsweek Mag.FEB 06 2006:
GENES & FAMILY:
What science can tell you about your History and your Health.

The more we discover our differences,
the more we find connections. Wayne
Joseph grew up a black American in Louisiana
and Los Angeles-even writing a
My Turn for NEWSWEEK in 1994 about
Black History Month. He heard about
DNA testing several years ago and, seeking
details about his mixed ancestry, sent
away for a kit. "I figured I'd come back
about 70 percent African and 30 percent
something else," he says. When the results
arrived in the mail "I was floored;'
he says. The testing company said he was
57 percent Indo-European, 39 percent
Native American, 4 percent East Asian.
No African blood at all. For almost a year,
Joseph searched his soul, sifting in his
mind the decisions he'd made based on
his identity as a black man: his first marriage,
his choice of high school, his interest
in African-American literature.
Before the test, "I was unequivocally
black;' he says. "Now I'm a metaphor for
America." And not just for America, but
for all of us.
