Will Wheaton endorses Rabid Puppies

It's been fascinating to see the widespread level of support for Sad Puppies 3 and Rabid Puppies as well as the identities of some of the people who are actively supporting us. I have to confess that considering his anti-GamerGate position, I never expected famous Star Wars actor Will Wheaton to come out and endorse Rabid Puppies for the 2015 Hugo Awards, but then, I didn't know he was such a massive Larry Correia fan either.

I guess there just might be some truth to the rumor that he's in the running to play Grant Jefferson in the Monster Hunter International TV show. I have to admit, I was expecting Jefferson to be a little better-looking, and to have more of a chin, but I'm sure Mr. Wheaton is such a good actor that he'll be able to pull it off convincingly.

Did you say Star Wars sarcastically or inadvertently? Either way, a pleasant surprise.

" I have to expect, considering his anti-GamerGate position, I never expected famous Star Wars actor Will Wheaton"

I laughed out loud.

You really are a devious person. Not just for that line.

Did you say Star Wars sarcastically or inadvertently?

In Vox's case, the famous dictum is reversed: never attribute to incompetence that which can be adequately explained by malice.

Blogger Rantor February 12, 2015 6:45 AM

A test wherein Will may be required to explain how he can support anything endorsed by Vox? Either driven back to the warren or stand up for his convictions?

Blogger Mr.MantraMan February 12, 2015 7:05 AM

Photoshop. Anyway I expect Will Wheaton's next stop in feature TV will be in a ST spinoff where he is the kept house male to a Klingon female undergoing the first sex change operation of her kind into a Klingon male warrior, and he will love it. And Scalzi will have a reoccurring role as his flashback father figure that prepared him for such a role in life.

Blogger Cataline Sergius February 12, 2015 7:18 AM

That guy doesn't look punchably smug enough to be Wesley.

Find a German to English online dictionary, enter: Backpfeifengesicht And a picture of Will Wheaton will pop up.

I laughed, too. Nicely done, Vox.

This bitch couldn't pull off Jefferson with a brain transplant into... someone else's body.

I cannot think of who I'd ideally cast as Grant Jefferson. I love that character, even though Larry tried really hard to make us not.

Owen Pitt... someone like this:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0072344/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm

His role as the crazy redneck pot grower in "Without a Paddle" made me think of him. Plus his middle name is Hercules.

Anonymous WinstonWebb February 12, 2015 9:23 AM

I always picture Grant as looking like a young Cary Elwes (Princess Bride era). And I see Robert Shaw (as Captain Quint in Jaws) when I think about Earl Harbinger.
I have no such pop culture image for Owen or Julie.

Anonymous Stilicho February 12, 2015 10:10 AM

Dafoe might make a good Myers, but he's a bit old for the role.

Pitt is a tough call as well: Adam Baldwin might work. Probably not going to find a decent actor who's big enough to fit the description, so just go with the best guy you can find.

Blogger Nate February 12, 2015 10:11 AM

If we're dragging Sam Elliott in, then you have to cast Tom Selleck as Myers.

Blogger CarpeOro February 12, 2015 10:28 AM

Selleck isn't thin enough to be Myers. Also a bit older than Myers. Myers should be around 50, not 60.

Actually, for the conflicted driven nature of Myers, Willem DaFoe would work.

No. 300 lbs. Baldwin can gain weight. He is a bit old for the role though.

Besides, you're just picking nits here. Would you really rather see some offensive lineman who can't act play Pitt rather than an actor who could do the role justice? Merlin Olsen isn't available. And Mongo (Karras) is just untalented pawn in game of casting.

Anonymous Stingray February 12, 2015 1:00 PM

So I began reading it and Owen is in the hospital with Myers and Franks. All I know at this point is that he's about 300 pounds and the descriptions here. But what about Mattew Willig for Owen? Beau,

I was rather hoping to run into you here today. A Lady from my church's woman's group received a text from a friend this week. This friend was contacted by a young woman who is scheduled for an abortion on Monday. She doesn't particularly want to get one, but she feels she has no choice. We are asking for prayers for this young woman and her baby. If you all would help out with that, I would be very grateful.

Please forgive the off topic and terrible downer in this thread.

It must've been bad for you guys that read the book... but I didn't and cruise didn't bother me at all.

Yeah, if you read the books, Cruise just doesn't have the physical presence for Reacher.

Lord Jesus,

We lift up this young woman and her child to you, be the light to her path, her shield and her defender. Save her child's life for your glory. Amen.

Amen.

"John Moses Browning is Sam Elliot."

Wow. Talk about great minds think alike. The second I saw Browning's name, my first instinct was "Sam Elliot."

Damn. Now that we are talking about Browning, I am wishing for my dream rifle again. A BAR that shoots 7.62 x 51 NATO instead of 30-06.

"A BAR that shoots 7.62 x 51 NATO instead of 30-06."

May have to settle for an M60.

"Matthew McConaughey too young to be Earl?

Remember, Earl looks fairly young (as in early middle age IIRC). But the role needs more inherent badass than McConaughey conveys."- Stilicho

Watch him in "Frailty" and tell me that.

Jamie Bamber (BSG) for Grant Jefferson.

Kelly Stables for Holly

Rachel Nichols for Julie

Patrick Warburton as Franks

Christopher Meloni as Harbinger

Kathleen Robertson as Heather

The problem with casting Owen Pitt is the guy has to be big, but not ripped, yet he has to be able to move convincingly. Acting ability is a plus, so you may have to go with an unknown.

Being that MHI is essentially an ensamble show, the guy can doesn't have to carry the show soley by himself.

just my $.02

Thank you very much.

I can't believe it. A thread that starts out mocking Willie Swheaton and no one's said it? You guys are slacking.

"Shut up, Wesley."

Ryan Reynolds would make a decent Grant.

There's got to be a place for Patrick Warburton there, as well.

I'm about halfway through the first Monster Hunter. What a fun book.

Almost wish I could suffer a minor head trauma and forget reading those books just so I could go back and reread them a "first" time.

But Mr Correia is alive and still writing, so I don't have to worry about no new books ever coming out. Also he seems to have a deep talent pool so I don't have to worry about him running out of other people's idea's to ape *cough*John Scalzi*cough*.
