Ed Brayton wants to kill nationalists

Ed Brayton is one of those low midwits who stumbles through life thinking that he's intelligent because he's a little smarter than the average idiot. I've rubbed his nose in his own incompetence several times in the past; believe it or not, he's actually dumber than PZ Myers. But he's really outdone himself this time:
People often ask me how I manage to troll the right-wing fever swamps without becoming hopelessly misanthropic. Mostly I’m able to laugh rather than cry or explode in anger. But bullshit like this makes me want to climb a tower with a high-powered rifle and start picking people off.

When Andrew Zink passed the microphone over to his classmate and allowed her to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic, he said, he knew most students wouldn’t support his decision.

As president of the student senate at Pine Bush High School in New York, Zink leads the pledge every morning. But on Wednesday, a teacher asked him if he would mind if a classmate did it instead. It was National Foreign Language Week, and the students were encouraged to learn about different cultures.

“I wanted to say yes because I felt this is the right thing to do,” Zink, 18, said in an interview Thursday with the Los Angeles Times.

Outrage quickly flowed throughout the campus, about 75 miles north of New York City. The principal apologized to the school later that day, Zink said, for allowing the Pledge of Allegiance to be recited in a different language.

But the apology did little to quell student and parent anger.

“The anti-Muslim sentiment started to build,” Zink said. “The poor girl who read it, she’s so sweet and when she finished reading it people called her a terrorist. They told her to go back to the Middle East. They mercilessly degraded her and I felt awful for her.”

Zink didn’t get by unscathed either. He said he was threatened over Twitter and received death threats.

Of course he did. Because xenophobes are fucking idiots and I really don’t want to share this planet with them anymore.
I don't wish to share the civilized West with fifth column-coddlers like Mr. Brayton myself. I suggest we send Mr. Brayton to live in the Dar al-Islam where he can discover what true xenophobia is, and why it exists in the first place. When the civil wars start across the West, don't forget what side these treasonous idiots were on. And don't offer them safe haven when they try to escape those whose invasion they supported either. When they cry and plead that they've seen the light, tell them "too late now."

Speaking of Brayton's reliable intellectual ineptitude, this is my favorite set of Braytonisms, from when he was running away from a proposed 2010 debate with Ellis Washington:
"As for your challenge to debate, I will consider it - if you can give a coherent answer to the following question"
- Ed Brayton, February 26, 2010

"Ellis Washington did not challenge me to a debate."
- Ed Brayton, March 1, 2010

Somehow I doubt that this fellow would be able either to climb a tower or to use a high-powered rifle.

Merely using the words "high powered rifle" means he has no clue about rifles, or how to use one.

Blogger Mr.MantraMan March 23, 2015 8:33 AM

He should say more about the rifle thing and the killing he wants to do, maybe even explain his targeting selection process, never interrupt them, encourage them if possible.

I'm confused. People are up in arms because a screed that was penned by an avowed Fabian Society socialist to help break down Americans' individualist reluctance to embrace European-style collectivism was read in a language other than English?

That's like complaining that the steel chains they willingly place on their own wrists weren't "Made in America.."

Blogger Vox March 23, 2015 8:45 AM

I'm confused.

You're not confused, you're disingenuous. The fact that the history of the Pledge is problematic does not mean that the use of it in Arabic in a public school is not an indication of even bigger problems.

Anonymous First rule is! The laws of Germany! March 23, 2015 8:47 AM

Well I'm glad there were people at the school who had enough self-respect to get angry. You don't see that often enough any more.

"It was National Foreign Language Week, and the students were encouraged to learn about different cultures."

At this point we don't have anything BUT different cultures. We have a president who clearly isn't an American and boasts about it, lecturing us on who "we are". How the hell would he know who we are?

Why do these jackasses always come to the conclusion that anyone who disagrees with them lives in a "fever swamp"? When I think somebody is wrong on an issue, I tell them I think they're wrong, and I give them the reason why, which they can ponder and agree or disagree with. I don't say, You're an ignorant pygmy who deserves to be killed.

These are the people who consider themselves kinder and smarter and more tolerant than we are?

Not only should the pledge not be recited in Arabic (I understand some people have problems with it but to me it's mostly become a silly symbol, regardless of its origins), there shouldn't be anyone in a public school in New York who can even speak Arabic, unless it's some actual American who studied it for the ACT or something.

The West cannot be defined simply by the rejection of Islam or as a collection of legal norms. It is a culture created by a specific people and it will be destroyed if that people is dispossessed. Europeans everywhere have the self-evident right to secure their homelands for themselves, without regard to the claims others make upon it.

ONE Problem: AFRICA FOR THE AFRICANS, ASIA FOR THE ASIANS, WHITE COUNTRIES FOR EVERYBODY??

That is the crime. It is white Genocide. IT is state violence. Politicians past and present must be held accountable. 'Just obeying orders' is not an excuse.

So long as the vast majority of Americans believe that America is not a nation made by and for European-Americans, with a substantial African-American population of countrymen included as a result of the nation's historical development--and the VAST majority of Americans do not believe that--incidents like these will continue to not make sense to many of the people we nationalists need to convince in order to ultimately prevail.

Of course, the reaction to this event was nothing more than a residual pure nationalism that was pushed too far. However, the response will only confirm for the "America as an ideal" faction that nationalists simply don't understand America, and concerns for Afghan veteran family feels were cited, where Arabic is not spoken widely outside of some Koran instruction didn't help.

In short, while it is great to see that a proper nationalism has yet to be fully eradicated, we still lack even the rhetoric to engage in these issues on a national and political level.

Blogger Mr.MantraMan March 23, 2015 9:38 AM

Reading what I could at that poorly constructed web site I have to say I'm pretty sure there is no intellectual response possible towards the progtards and the worship of the "Other." It is just plain silly and frankly embarrassing as if some Haj in her Haj wear is some great attraction at the human diversity zoo.

Was anybody there sufficiently versed in Arabic to know if what she uttered actually WAS the Pledge of Allegiance, and not The Jews will fight you and you will prevail over them until a rock will say, “O Muslim, here is a Jew behind me, (come and) kill him.”, because those Arabs always say something different in Arabic than English

At least the politicians do, anyway.

Austin gets too hard of a rap in this place. Sure, there's enough progtards to go around, but there's a lot of other cool, interesting stuff there that isn't stupid. Spend some time in the cocktail lounge at the Four Seasons and you'll see a lot of non-libtard, non-cesspool stuff. And plus, white Texas women are REALLY fucking hot. All that German and Czech blood. (I'm part Czech, and women have swooned over me ever since I was a lad. It's a gift.) A lot of the black chicks there are really hot, too, and also quite charming -- nice, polite, good conversationists, very feminine. And super hot.

And, here is a lesswit telling us his fantasy of shooting innocent folk. This scares up the writings of Scalzi's rape images. "making concepts like xenophobia meaningless"

'Xenophobia' is not valid as a concept, and not a phrase with any meaning at all. It is a made-up piece of nonsense, a club used to beat certain people with a stick. There is a perfectly good reason for excluding foreigners: they usually come to your country to take your stuff.

Were the Hurons "xenophobes"? Were the Anatolian Greeks? Were the Spaniards enslaved by the Arabs and Berbers? The Russians enslaved by the Mongols and Tatars and Ottomans?

Xenophobia my arse.

Anonymous Frank Brady March 23, 2015 12:46 PM

Three observations.

1. The "Pledge of Allegiance" is a piece of crap, written by a Socialist that glorifies the state and frankly, IMHO, shouldn't be recited by anyone.
2. I'm no fan of Islam--but a lot of the real world Muslim's I've known are about as dangerous as the Presbyterian next door. There are approximately 1.7 billion Muslims in the world. Less than one-half of one percent of them have taken up arms against the U.S. and almost all of them are from countries that the U.S. has invaded, occupied, and "regime changed". As a general proposition, when one country invades another for no reason, occupies it, and kills its people, survivors are apt to be pissed off. If they can equip themselves, they might even resist the occupiers with armed force. Go figure.
3. That said, whether it the Middle East, the Ukraine, or anywhere else, the U.S. might stop making enemies (and creating "terrorists") if it stopped intervening in situations around the world that are none of our business.

In the last analysis, the centralized state has outlived its presumed usefulness--especially the Welfare/Warfare State model. Today it is essentially a giant charade, one which provides cover for the Bankster and Corporate elitists who really run the world. The U.S. chapter comprises both Socialist and Fascist control freaks. When it implodes (and it is doing so now), people will associate as they have always done when left to their own devices: Ethnicity and language trumps the artificial "state" every time.

Anonymous Frank Brady March 23, 2015 12:51 PM

None of which, by the way, supports the idiotic open borders policy that have brought Europe (and are bringing the U.S. (and what little remains of the American nation) to the brink of total ruin. The "state" of the United States and the American "nation" are not the same thing.

How many Leftists actually know the origin of the Pledge? A scant, imperceptible minority, which means the only reason they want the Pledge said in Arabic or any language that's not English is to shit on the rest of America that believes its a sign of tradition and patriotism. It's irrelevant that it was invented by a Christian socialist, both the Right and Left don't know that and aren't arguing on those terms, so the Left's attacks on it are pure anti-American spite and hatred.

@Danby With all due respect, I don't think I'm the one with reading comprehension problems. It is simply not true that all Muslims (or "Islamists") are hostile to America.

Are there Muslims who hate America? Yes. Are there bad people who are Muslims ? Absolutely. Has the U.S. been poking the Muslim bee hive with a sharp stick for decades? For sure!

More importantly, there are political movements (neo-conservatism in this country, Zionism in this country and Israel) that are trying their damnedest to start a religion-based World War. In the U.S., they have as political allies "flat earthers" like Mike Huckabee and a disturbingly large chunk of the Congress which has been bought and paid for by the likes of AIPAC and Sheldon Adelson. The U.S. already did Israel a great favor by removing one of its greatest adversaries (Iraq's Saddam Hussein) from the playing field and are now trying to duplicate that feat in Iran. I have no problem with Israel's efforts to protect its national interest. However, I have a huge problem with U.S. politicians who subordinate U.S national interest to those of any other nation. Most will be surprised to learn how many of George W. Bush's foreign policy and defense advisors who served as architects of the Iraq invasion were dual Israeli citizens (Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, and others). This should never be allowed to happen again.

As I wrote initially, I'm no fan of Islam of, for that matter, of any of the "cultures" that prevail throughout the Middle East, but there are approximately 1.7 billion Muslims in the world. Less than one-half of one percent of them have taken up arms against the U.S. and almost all of them are from countries that the U.S. has invaded, occupied, and "regime changed". Where did I say "all Muslims are hostile to America?" Where did I imply it? You're not contending that there is no hostility to America in Islam, which is what I would accuse you of saying were I as slow on the uptake as you seem to be.

Also, do you even know what the word 'Islamist' means? It is not a synonym for Muslim, as you seem to be implying. It refers specifically to the ideology, common among Jihadists, that all people and nations must submit to Sharia and be subject to Islam. That you have no right to object to such, and may freely be killed if you work against that effort. Islamism is INHERENTLY anti-American, anti-Western and anti-Christian.

I would suggest you read up on the subject sometime, but given your comprehension problems and automatic regurgitation of "eeeevil neocons made me a target" propaganda whenever someone mentions Arabs (let alone Islam), that would probably be a waste of time.

Wrong. "Islamist" is yet another example of political correctness on display because both the Left and the Right are afraid of being seen as anti-Muslim, so they soften it by not calling ISIS "Muslim". There is NO such thing as Islamism, there is only Islam which ISIS is, in fact, following accurately. More so than the so-called moderates that ISIS view as heretics from their faith, and they're not exactly wrong.

Bin Laden, with various factions within the Saudi government, both of whom we supply(ied) money, arms, and training (and see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil), perpetrated dial emergency 9-1-1. None of this had anything to do with creating a world-wide caliphate. It was Bush who signed the treaty to have U.S. troops out of Iraq at the end of 2012(?). Knowing full well the shiites and sunnis would be at loggerheads. When a progressive says something lke "want to climb a tower with a high-powered rifle and start picking people off" he/she/they simply mean "come, let us reason together using logic and science, let us not stoop to reactionary superstition." That is all he was saying, if you could just open your bigoted eyes.

No, he's indicating he has deep psychological issues that prevent him from reasoning with people who think differently than him; he can't handle free thought, so he lashes out with bizarre and over-the-top threats of violence, threats he could never hope to back up because not only is he an idiot, he's a coward as well. It's a sad and pathetic condition in a sad pathetic little man, made all the worse by the fact that everybody knows it about him.

@Emmanuel Mateo-Morales @dw @danby

Islam is the religion of Muslims. Neoconservatives and their Likud allies have conflated "Islam", "Islamist, and "Islamic terrorism" in order to link the entire Islamic religion with terrorism, quite successfully I might add. An "Islamist", by definition, is an Islamic Fundamentalist, someone who believes that Islam should guide social and political as well as personal life. Christian Fundamentalist believe that Christianity should guide social and political as well as personal life. That adherents to either religion can and do hold these beliefs respectively is beyond argument. It is only when they attempt to force those beliefs upon others through violence that they can fairly be called "terrorists". Most Islamists and the overwhelming majority of today's Christians don't do that.

Finally, @Danby, Dick Cheney (and George W. Bush, his father George H.W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, and the entire neocon crew are responsible for destabilizing the entire Middle East and creating the conditions that spawned ISIS (that along with the John McCain wing of the Party being actively involved in arming and equipping the "Syrian Free Army" elements that were a conduit for many of the ISIS weapons). Bush and company are, by definition, war criminals. At the moment, the philosophical brothers of these idiots are trying very hard to stir up yet another war in Europe, involving Russia.

Decades of propaganda and invincible ignorance may yet prove to be a deadly combination.

Blogger Danby March 23, 2015 4:24 PM

That's not the fucking topic under discussion you fucking moron. Can you let your inner autist go hide in the fucking closet again?
You seem to think I am arguing with you. I am not. I'm not disputing your points, because they are not the topic of discussion.
I am calling you a fucking moron because you are either unable or unwilling to see what is being said, and instead keep making the same points that are irrelevant to the discussion. Either way you are a moron.

It's like when we're discussing any topic at all, and Thordaddy comes ina nd tells us all it's really White Supremacy. or Tad comes on demands we talk about him taking up the ass.

Did it ever occur to you that people might want to talk about something BESIDES neocons and Islamic terrorists?

And you will reply by insisting that really it IS Dick Cheney's fault that Muslims, who are indistinguishable from me, want to kill 3/4 of the population of the Earth.

Anonymous Frank Brady March 23, 2015 5:04 PM

@Danby, if you'll return to the comment that Vox quoted in his first post on this topic you'll learn (perhaps) that the entire issue arose because people objected to the Pledge being said in Arabic. In that post, Zink, the student body president who ignited this entire bizarre (IMHO) episode is quoted as saying, "“The anti-Muslim sentiment started to build", that being the "outrage" that made this a news story.

So, I suggest you catch up on your meds and come back in a couple of days. Inasmuch as much of the public outrage was generated by the kind of generalized hatred that fuels your diatribes, I think I'll stand by what I've said and suggest to you that your closing sentence ("Muslims, who are indistinguishable from me [sic], want to kill 3/4 of the population of the Earth".) appears to be completely incoherent.

Are you saying that you are indistinguishable form all Muslims? In what regard? Do you really want to "kill 3/4 of the population of the Earth?" I doubt that even the most fervent anti-Muslim believes that accurately describes what all Muslims intend.

I hope you feel better soon.

That said, I do think that Mr. Zink decision was poor judgment in today's super heated climate.

Anonymous DissidentRight March 23, 2015 5:08 PM

Hi Frank.

ISLAM (compare to "Muslim") is hostile to everything not-Islam. The doctrinal spin employed by any particular Muslim liberal is irrelevant. I'm sure you agree that Islam and its supporters should be expelled from the West, correct? Or are you one of the suicidal libertarians. Then we can stop antagonizing them with our military adventures.

Anonymous BigGaySteve March 23, 2015 5:09 PM

"Are there Muslims who hate America?"

Moslems hate anyone that does not submit to them. The only way to have peace with them is to either submit or not allow them any agency. Only when they are weak will they use taqiyya and abide by rules, when they are strong they behead grandmothers. You can’t coexist with a group whose ‘legitimate grievance’ is that you’re still alive

Anonymous Frank Brady March 23, 2015 5:21 PM

@DissidentRight. You have a definitional problem.

"Islam" is the religion of Muslims. I do not agree that Islam and its supporters should be expelled en masse from the West, although it is unfortunate that our open borders have allowed entry for so many in the name of "multiculturalism". If our laws and customs are respected by them and if they entered the country legally, they should be left in peace. However, if individual members of that group violate our laws, the laws should be enforced against them in the same way as they are enforced against anyone else. I also don't believe that Judaism and its supporters should be expelled from the West en masse with the same caveats and for the same reasons.

We do need to close our borders before we lose what little remains of the American nation.

Its not like I have never had anyone wave their hands while saying "equalism" "Not All __ Are Like That" before. I am willing to concede that perhaps only 99.99999% want sharia law enforced against me. While the most violent thing Jesus did was flip some tables and chase people with a whip, Mohammad's greatest victory came from breaking a peace treaty in the middle of the night & every bad stereotype of moslems was done by Moohammad himself.

Do you know why moslems stone gays to death(with rocks) and mutilate little girls genitals? One day Moo ham mads oldest wife hit puberty and he realized the gays where right about his penis being smaller than what is now cut off little girls.

Bottoms are socialist for the same reason as career cat lady women, they are on the wrong side of supply and demand. Gay conservatives are somewhat rare but there is a site for them called gaypartiot. I am not as much of a statistical outlier as a "good muslim" however.

Anonymous DissidentRight March 23, 2015 7:13 PM

Hi Frank.

Islam also constitutes various texts. Several of these texts cause Islam to be hostile to everything not-Islam. Judaism contains no analogous texts. Yes, the immigration of Muslims unfortunate. To not rectify the problem, insofar as it can reasonably rectified, would be even more unfortunate. Also, we are not indicting an entire population. We are indicting an ideology. To then indict its adherents only follows.

Quran (8:12) "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"

Quran (8:38-39) "Say to the Unbelievers, if (now) they desist (from Unbelief), their past would be forgiven them; but if they persist, the punishment of those before them is already (a matter of warning for them).

And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do."

Quran (9:5) "But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful."

Quran (9:29-31) " Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

Quran (9:123) "O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him)."

Quran (17:16) "When We decide to destroy a population, We (first) send a definite order to those among them who are given the good things of this life and yet transgress; so that the word is proved true against them: then (it is) We destroy them utterly."

Quran (21:43-44) "Or have they gods that can guard them from Us? They have no power to aid themselves, nor can they be defended from Us.

Nay, We gave the good things of this life to these men and their fathers until the period grew long for them; See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? Is it then they who will win?"

That's way too easy. John McCain. Lindsey Graham. Tom Cotton. Mike Huckabee. The entire George W. Bush Administration. All Evangelical Christians who support "the war on terror". Every sitting member of the U.S. Congress who took Sheldon Adelson's money. Bill and Hillary Clinton. All neo-conservatives (except, of course, for those who are of the Jewish persuasion). I also find it interest how much the media whores have filled American heads with Booslims. Why, we haven't had this much Booslim national conversation since, what? Dial Emergency 9-1-1? Wink. I really think this short blurb from his blog says everything that needs to be said about this guy.
"After spending several years touring the country as a stand up comedian, Ed Brayton tired of explaining his jokes to small groups of dazed illiterates"

I am having trouble of thinking of a statement that better illustrates what VD calls "gamma mindset" than that. Its all there in half a sentence. That one little snippet shows a refusal to accept responsibility, a belief in his own superiority in spite of evidence to the contrary, and illustrates his absolute ignorance of the fundamental's of a subject he claims to be an expert on. At first I assumed it had to be tongue in cheek, but having read some of his other writing and seeing some of his "stand-up" on youtube It seems more likely that this is what he actually thinks.

Anonymous Curtis March 24, 2015 5:52 AM

Titus Didius Tacitus - It's what TP'sTB want you to believe. Dial Emergency 9-1-1 and, POOF! Booslims! Boo! They're everywhere! Under your beds. In your heads. We. Americans. Do not have a Booslim problem. We have an American problem. OMG! OMG! OMG! Some Booslims chopped of some heads, mostly Muslims, but some Christians! Meanwhile, in the USA! USA! USA! we have butchered over 50,000,000 unborn children and we yawn. But, but, but, the Booslims!

But hey! Maybe we'll win The War On Terror and travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when we have succeeded, we will make them twice as much a child of hell as we are.

Hubris. I know.

Anyhow, I bet you think you out-did yourself there. So? I'm mocking the pants shitters. So what has happened to all those Christians in those countries we have meddled in since Dial Emergency 9-1-1? Speaking of which. Crap! Don't tell me we went all Booslims since 9-1-1!

All these lovely people's from around the world are much less lovely when they go from being 3 or 4 families in your town to being the dominant group. For example, the wave of Iranians who came to Los Angeles in the 1970s and 80s haven't burned the place down, but their cultural norms are at odds with ours. They see cheating as sport, they tell us to change our ways to suit them, and they drive recklessly. They lack civic spirit, are bad neighbors, and despise the working class. That's not xenophobia, that's experience.
Personally, I like some of them that I know. They're not being malicious when they ruin things, they think they've made things better. Better for them, yes, but not for us.
