Help the Honey Badgers

The Honey Badgers were kicked out of Calgary Expo, apparently for the thoughtcrime of supporting GamerGate by selling GG t-shirts. Here is another chance to strike back at the SJWs:
The Honey Badger Brigade is now seeking legal advice to hold the Calgary Expo staff accountable for their acts of abuse and discrimination against us. We have made attempts in the past week to diffuse the situation by attempting to contact Mr. Kelly Dowd, owner of the Calgary Expo. We have received no response.

On April 17th 2015, the Honey Badger Brigade was forcibly evicted and our booth ordered removed, despite our operating well within the rules of the Expo and it’s policies of conduct. We were not given a chance to dispute the alleged complaints. The organization violated its own stated policy in the process and has released conflicting claims regarding its reasons for our removal.

Those claims indicate that we were removed due to our Men’s Rights Activism and unpopular view of modern feminism. Therefore it is our belief that the actions taken by the Calgary Expo staff were of a political nature and contravene the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, in particular freedom of conscience, freedom of thought and freedom of association.

If so, this eviction was based in discrimination, an act that has defamed and abused us. While we would prefer to settle this outside of a courtroom, we are prepared to take every legal action needed to ensure that ourselves and other future exhibitors will be treated equally, and without such a denial of their fundamental human rights.

All funds submitted to this fundraiser will be used for legal costs and costs directly related to our ejection from the Calgary Comics and Entertainment Expo. We will be keeping track of expenses and providing expense reports as we’re able.
If you're a member of the Dread Ilk, Rabid Puppies, or #GamerGate, I'd encourage you to start a little coffee fund. Nothing much, maybe save your change or devote $5 per month to support the little causes such as these that are going to continue to arise. If we all do that, and judiciously apply this financial ammunition, the force multiplication of doing it at the same time at critical junctures can have a disproportionate impact.

I'm not going to bring up every little thing, but if one seems particularly useful or hits in a critical area, I will bring it to your attention. The Honey Badgers are significant because they are being attacked primarily to prevent the GamerGate virus from spreading into other potentially anti-SJW women's groups.

Remember, the SJWs always focus their ire and their fire at the weak links and the inroads. That's why they put pressure on the likes of Annie Bellet, not Steve Rzasa or Tom Kratman, to withdraw from the Hugo shortlist. If we can continue to knock them back at those points of resistance, they'll crumble much more rapidly than they will from steady, constant pressure.

A legal challenge to the system is like asking the fox to take over chicken coop security. The laws and protections enumerated by the honey badger brigade do not apply to them because they are ideological opponents to the system.

Years ago over 50K was amassed in days to defend a badthinker against just such an unlawful action, the result being that he not only lost, but wound up in prison even though he was the victim.

Do not assume that the system functions in order to render justice, it exists in order to prop up the system.

Choose a new battle, attack on another front. Only the flexible survive.

Do not assume that the system functions in order to render justice, it exists in order to prop up the system.

All reasonable points but I think that their is a purpose other than victory accompanying this suggestion.

These people have to be challenged on friendly ground. Don't permit them "freebie" victories and impose a cost on them wherever possible.

Blogger Alexander April 26, 2015 10:57 AM

Done. You will lose all the battles you dont show up for. And even a loss will 1. Expose the system as a sham and 2. Force the enemy to pay cash to fight on their home turf. Both valuable goals. And that is worst case scenario, what happens if they win?

To hell with the gatekeepers.

How long has Mad Jack Hamilton been commenting around here? I wonder if his call to preemptive surrender is a tacit admission of weakness.

Anyway, even I can throw $5 at the problem, and I daresay most folks around here have more than I do.

Let's compare it to buying something for kindle. Since I'm feeling a bit cruel tosay, what if you instead of buying one of the books below, donated the same sum to the Honey Badgers.

Scalzi Level (Redshirts) .................... $7.99
Jemisin Level (Inheritance trilogy) .... $9.99
GRRM Level (GoT "box set") ............ $19.99

Maybe tweet it too.

I don't have a lot of faith in the justice system but proving that the system is corrupt has value in itself. If the HBB fail despite clear coverage it will be obvious to the moderates that shooting their own side will not win them any favors from the Bolsheviks

The Hugos as a massive case of white knighting?

From File 770:

I had been in fandom a year and knew that the writers always gathered in the bar, so I went in. I sat down next to this woman who was softly crying, and asked her what was wrong. It was her first convention and she just had a story published, but no one knew who she was. Of course it was Anne McCaffrey. I was able to truthfully tell her that I had read and liked her Analog story. That stopped the tears. I like to think that I helped her to enjoy the convention but I think winning the Hugo probably helped too . . .

What is about such entitlement that pisses me off?

(Imagine if Linus Torvalds had criticized her ...)

I like the SJW/Kindle angle, by the way.

I'm happy to have discovered Vox Popoli. All these years, I had a vague idea something was wrong with Sci-Fi/Fantasy, I just couldn't put my finger on it. But I was reading less and less of it.

The bad news: There's been a concerted a effort to push me and people like me, to the margins.

The good news: There's an organized Resistance to the enemy.

I wish I knew years ago.

I just went through the link to their begging cup, then into paypal with no problem. You may have just had a bad connection some way. It should work.

In regard to 'Mad Jack' I have noticed that the SJWs are sending soft troops in to the comments now. On the 'beach' advertizement yesterday they had someone who claimed to be a feminist who disliked the hate from the SJWs but, couldn't we see that there was 'implied' discrimination in the ad. Just trying to get the owners and commentors to bend a little. In religion, there is 'formally fundie' who does the same to openly religious sites like Matt Walsh, to just not be so single minded, see the aithest's point, etc. Let's see if Mad Jack comes back with more.

just in case anybody hasn't figured this out, for anyone planning to attend ANY con while wearing SP / RP paraphernalia OR who is a known GG'er:

even better, have a 'mundane' trailing you around recording everything. these pieces of shit are going to lie about you, lie too you, try to entrap you, make false accusations against you, etc, etc, etc.

carry a microcassette recorder. use your smart phone. wear google glass. go to a 'spy store' and get yourself some button cams / mikes.

there are going to be a LOT MORE of these false accusations.

the very last thing you want, is to allow this to boil down to a "he said, she said" argument.

because SJWhoreriors are better at spinning stories and lying than you are. they've been doing it a lot longer.

Left lets the mask fall. Left cancels AIDS fundraiser because the creators of it are two successful gay businessmen who hosted Senator Ted Cruz for dinner at their Manhattan apartment.
Ted Cruz has issued a statement. Here is a quote:
“I know it’s been a long time since we’ve seen it, but this is what it means to truly be a ‘big tent Republican’ instead of a panderer. I’m happy to go anywhere to anyone to champion conservative values.”

Blogger JAY WILL April 26, 2015 1:02 PM

In for $20. Would love to see big results over the coming months and years, hooks into the mainstream. Its frustrating to see such nonsense spouted all over the media. So much propaganda seeping into the mainstream. Was watching Game of Thrones, that female princess is utterly ridiculous. Are people really believing in her as a an inspiring leader? And then the little girl who's all tough and can scare groups of grown men away just with words. Its such a joke to me and yet its massively popular. The TV is surrogate companionship for me, too gutless to make big changes.

Really hoping for huge political changes alongside changes in media. I think it can only happen in an ugly way though, too many people with too much to lose. All the sneaky stuff thats happening, like using "save the children from porn" laws in UK to make the internet safer, while quietly bringing "hate groups" in with them. Why wasn't this hate list ever published? Who compiled it? Theres no doubt the internet is going to get clobbered at some point. We shouldn't be allowed to read this. Gives people ideas, we can't have that can we. Im sitting here wasting away in front of a computer screen though, don't belong to anything of substance. Just pottering about like a little hobbit, while the big bad world carries on, hoping it doesn't come near me.

nothing is stopping you from making your own.

you can go to a local t-shirt shop and have a one-off made for <$50. or you can have them print a whole run of shirts for a couple hundred. ( pricing will obviously be variable depending on vendor and quantity / quality of shirts ordered )

i'm not so much talking about people wearing shirts ( although the Evil Minion stuff looks fun ) as i am about the pros ( Larry, Brad, Wright ) who are likely to be attending cons.

although EVERONE on the puppies side is at risk for this. especially at WorldCon. i expect there to be a LOT of 'complaints' for 'harassing behavior' there.

At some point, Christians have to weigh the merit of assisting groups who although they may share some common ground, also have radically different goals and values. Supporting groups opposed to Christian values is more than unwise. A house divided against itself will fall.

I know. They try to turn the marxist agenda and notion of "discrimination" against itself, but in order to do it one has first to accept it. It's game where stakes are far to costly for any foreseeable payoff to be worth entering.

"I'm all for a private owner of any premises to be able to kick anybody out, at will, no reasons stated. Vox, you aren't?"

Let the private property owners lobby and campaign to get the laws changed then. They could even ask for conservative and libertarian support in the polls and would probably recieve it. But if they're unwilling or unable to do that, and they actually choose to side politically with the Marxists and SJWs because they're seen as more of a liability, then it's on us to change that perception.

Blogger Jordan179 April 29, 2015 3:32 AM

I'm all for a private owner of any premises to be able to kick anybody out, at will, no reasons stated. Vox, you aren't?

Don't know about Vox, but the problem here is that Tieman and the Honey Badgers had purchased attendance at the convention, and specifically the right to run a booth. They came in good faith that the contract would be honored. From what I heard, they didn't even have their fees refunded, let alone have restitution made to them for travel and lodging expenses.

This is not like kicking someone off private premises at will. This is like selling someone some goods, taking their money, and then taking the goods and kicking them out of the store.
