Happy Birthday, #GamerGate

This is the chapter-heading cartoon for Chapter Eight: Striking Back at the Thought Police, from the #1 Political Philosophy bestseller, SJWs ALWAYS LIE: Taking Down the Thought Police.

From the Dedication:

This book is for all the gamers around the world who simply wanted to be left alone to play their games in peace. You didn't go looking to fight a cultural war, the social justice warriors in game journalism brought their war to you....

This book is for the thousands of sealions whose names I don't know, who sent emails and created memes, who persisted and leveled up, and who, in doing so, shattered the SJW Narrative.

This book is for #GamerGate.

Got mine late last night, read about 1/3 of it so far.

Bravo sir, bravo!

About 20% through so far and loving your book so far, sir. Your writing remains American in the best sense: tough and no-nonsense, capable of delivering a knock out blow as well as laughs. A much-needed book that I wish had been around when I was a lad.

Blogger VFM bot #188 August 27, 2015 8:22 AM

Terrific dedication here. Even greater illustration, LOL!

Anonymous VFM #46 August 27, 2015 8:38 AM

Just finished it. I'm somewhat sad that a proper education in rhetoric, rather than an introduction, is beyond the scope of the book. But it does what it sets out to do admirably.

Blogger VD August 27, 2015 8:41 AM

I'm somewhat sad that a proper education in rhetoric, rather than an introduction, is beyond the scope of the book.

Also beyond the scope of the author.

Blogger Tank August 27, 2015 8:41 AM

OKOK, I can't wait for the "real" (haha) book to come out, have to go get a EBook.

Blogger Alexander August 27, 2015 8:48 AM

Up to #331!

Also of note, no 1-star 'reviews' yet. Whether it's Glen Hauman or random women claiming to be from Edna, it seems they are a little wary of slandering a hard target.

Anonymous Viidad August 27, 2015 8:56 AM

At #331. Whoa.

Anonymous Usul August 27, 2015 9:03 AM

I sat down and started reading the book after dinner last night and ended up reading the entire thing before I went to bed. Bravo on an engaging and informative book.

As someone who has followed the stories of GamerGate and the Puppy campaigns, you wrote excellent summaries with analysis with exceptional insights.

The most valuable portions for me were the last three chapters. Lots of great discussion on cultural reconquista. My own struggle here is which left wing institution should I throw myself into replacing.

Also, your casual reference to Alaric early on struck me. It speaks to the level of learning you are confident a healthy fraction of your readers possess, even if most people with a BS in History wouldn't have the foggiest idea who he was. It's refreshing to read an author who presumes the reader is well versed in Western civilization.

Anonymous Giuseppe The Kurgan August 27, 2015 9:03 AM

t seems they are a little wary of slandering a hard target

THIS
I noticed it in life in general first, but I had not made the connection in the digital world until I tested it on twitter. The more forceful and remorseless you are and the more willing to openly mock and hold your ground. The least resistance you get.

I had a few "mobbings" from SJWs at first, but these declined almost immediately once they began to realise it would result in them being attacked ruthlessly, specifically and relentlessly with the unvarnished truth.

Blogger VD August 27, 2015 9:08 AM

it seems they are a little wary of slandering a hard target.

If you notice, most of the people who attack me directly are SJW nobodies. Martin was unusual in this regard, but presumably he thought his status would offer him more protection from me. He miscalculated, as I don't think much of him as an individual or a writer. Now even people outside the Ilk are beginning to pick up on "George Rape Rape Martin".

Note: Aristotle was right and the most effective rhetoric is founded in truth. Or to put it in the vulgar fashion, it's funny because it's true.

Blogger VD August 27, 2015 9:10 AM

At #331. Whoa.

What is this "331" of which you speak so highly? #286.

Blogger Bill August 27, 2015 9:11 AM

Yeah, I'm gonna need a stack of hard-copies to hand out at Christmas.

Blogger Student in Blue August 27, 2015 9:12 AM

Red Meat does some amazing art when it's his own style.

I'm... not a fan of how Vivian turned out here however. Oh well, no one's perfect.

Great book, great artist.

Blogger Alexander August 27, 2015 9:13 AM

There are less books selling better than Vox's than there are Vile Faceless Minions.

Forward!

Anonymous MG August 27, 2015 9:18 AM

And you've finally earned your 1-star review from someone who can't even bother to finish reading it.

Blogger VD August 27, 2015 9:18 AM

And finally the first SJW one-star review appears.

"Uggh... it's awful. Tried to read it and couldn't get past Chapter five. BTW there are TWO chapter fives - nice editing there Beale. This is from the same guy who tried to stuff the Hugo ballots this year with his own publishing house works. It's a horrid piece of work overall . NOT recommended."

Since, as we know, SJWs always lie, there are not "two chapter fives". Both Chapter 4 Counterattack and Chapter 5 Release the Hounds are numbered Chapter 5 in the HTML TOC, although not in the internal TOC. It's fixed in the Castalia versions, and will be on Amazon as soon as it stops updating the previous fixes and lets me update the file again.

I find it fascinating how many SJWs appear to think that the important part of editing is proof-reading and formatting rather than the actual content.

Anonymous FriarBob August 27, 2015 9:23 AM

@vd re editing... wait, you give them credit for thinking?

Content is always more important than form. But if they knew that, they wouldn't be SJWs in the first place.

Blogger Masha K. August 27, 2015 9:23 AM

Question: does special subscriber bonus offer apply only to CH orders? I was intending to purchase through Amazon to leave a Verified Purchase review, but would order from CH if that's the only way to get the extras.

Blogger Student in Blue August 27, 2015 9:23 AM

There's something deeply moronic about attempting to spin a lie about a book proclaiming that you always lie.

Blogger Alexander August 27, 2015 9:26 AM

On a book like this, it's a massive endorsement:

I am one of the people who hate hate hate the Rabid Puppies and Gamergate, and I do not recommend this book!

Target Audience: Okay then, buy.

If I had doubts about their integrity, I would assume Markku or a VFM wrote it to qualify it to the people who ought to read it.

Anonymous Stingray August 27, 2015 9:27 AM

I also note that almost every review has been found to be not helpful by exactly one vote. There is one review that was found not helpful by two people and two that were not found unhelpful at all.

Must be a coincidence. . . . .

Blogger Alexander August 27, 2015 9:29 AM

False review didn't read. Didn't think they had, with the lack of verified purchase and the general DON'T BUY BECAUSE IT'S VOX approach. But the 'two chapter five' comment threw me.

Anyway:
https://archive.is/1AQ2X

It's just someone who hasn't read echoing Philip Sandifer. Expect the 'two chapter fives' meme to flow through the rabbits.

Blogger Alexander August 27, 2015 9:33 AM

You would think that idiots would at not fake review a book that was only available
- through Amazon
- through the author's own publishing house

It's not like you can claim you picked it up at a library or second-hand. Of course, as we know (from our reading!). SJWs always lie about trivially discovered things when the narrative must be pushed.

Anonymous Stingray August 27, 2015 9:33 AM

@23

Heh, heh. "Diane" is right there in the last comment. Shocking.

Anonymous 334 August 27, 2015 9:34 AM

@7

#1 on Amazon.ca (where I got mine) this morning. 13 positive reviews, all five stars. No negs. Not one.

They're coming, one would think, but this is a great start. I see a lot of names I don't know from the comments here.

Blogger Student in Blue August 27, 2015 9:41 AM

@Alexander

I liked the accusation that Vox 'stuffed his own amazon page with positive reviews', because there's no way that people would buy a book, finish it, and leave a review in one day. Ignore the "verified purchase" tag, would you kindly.

It's almost sad how stupid our opponents are... and how far they've come despite that.

Blogger VD August 27, 2015 9:46 AM

I liked the accusation that Vox 'stuffed his own amazon page with positive reviews'

Especially considering the 433 Vile Faceless Minions. If there aren't at least 400 positive reviews on H-Hour+1, I didn't stuff anything.

Anonymous JC NRA August 27, 2015 9:46 AM

Haven't finished this yet, but I love it so far. I've been a fan-boy since early WND days, but I think this will have an impact far, far beyond the Ilk and usual suspects. I've digested the recognition of the SJW, their tactics, and how to defend from this blog - but it's been a long process. Having a clear, concise explanation available to the masses (i.e. right thinking folks that just aren't up for this blog) is going to be invaluable for saving Western Civilization.

The biggest revelation for me was not to bring dialectic to a rhetorical fight. Many of my peeps still don't get this, and are stuck on "... but that doesn't make sense. You idiot! Data data data reason data ..." as they lose against the SJW. This book should be a game changer once they absorb it.

Thank you, Vox.

(This is sort of how I feelz reading this book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw6hvGtcquY)

Blogger Jack Ward August 27, 2015 9:50 AM

Blogger Iowahine August 27, 2015 9:54 AM

It's almost sad how stupid our opponents are... and how far they've come despite that.

That does sting. I chalk it up to the disinterested masses: people going about their business, taking care of their own lives and families - thus too busy building something to engage in naval-gazing and destruction. Too often, we don't notice rot until it's time to rebuild. This info and GG is rally call to heightened vigilance and action.

Blogger Were-Puppy August 27, 2015 9:55 AM

@17

I believe her review falls under the "Skim Until Offended" rule. Although I am surprised she made it past the cover.

I challenged her under her comment that I actually bought, read, and reviewed the book. It even shows verified purchase next to my name, unlike hers. She tries to intimate that somehow you are putting these reviews up on some blog.

Thanks Alexander for linking to that blog.

Blogger Jack Ward August 27, 2015 9:56 AM

That Diane really made me mad. I don't have a lot of money and bought the book, read it , and reviewed it. Nobody made me do it. For those people to insinuate that there is something wrong with the reviews really needs pushback.

Blogger Were-Puppy August 27, 2015 10:21 AM

@36

:)

I only turned into a Were-Puppy after watching the CHORFs cheering their own destruction last weekend.

I'm wondering why the SJW swarm hasn't landed at Amazon yet. Could it be the hive mind has determined it would be endorsing the book? They really should all buy it, rate it 3 stars or higher, to make Vox Day successful so he wanders off happily counting money. Then he might leave them alone.

Blogger Student in Blue August 27, 2015 10:24 AM

@38. Were-Puppy

They're torn between trying to ignore it as if it doesn't exist, and validating it as a legitimate threat by bombarding it with one stars.

If the book breaks out into Twitter (i.e. Milo mentions it and #GG picks up on it further), you can expect the wailing and gnashing of teeth by the SJWs to explode.

Anonymous basementhomebrewer August 27, 2015 10:37 AM

Amazon reviews are a wonderful thing though. Thanks to amazon I can see what else Diane has been reviewing and when. Interestingly enough she put a negative review on GOT Season 4 in May of this year for "gratuitous rape and violence". Considering all the SJWs freaked out about Season 5 in May she must have gotten confused about which Season to rate. She also put up a 5 star satirical review on GWBs book back in 2010. Her review history screams "fake political reviewer".

Anonymous The other robot August 27, 2015 10:42 AM

There are two Chapter Fives in the version I got directly from Castalia House yesterday.

There seems not to be a Look Inside thing available on Amazon but the Send A Free Sample button on Amazon works and that includes the Table of Contents.

The first edition of Larry Niven's Ringworld had an interesting mistake as well.

Anonymous The other robot August 27, 2015 10:45 AM

It is strange that there are two Chapter Fives.

Did the chapter titles include the words Chapter $number?

Anonymous Blue Meanie August 27, 2015 10:45 AM

Yeah, fake reviewers are generally easy to spot. There's one clown who wrote an incredibly lengthy one-star review of Ilana Mercer's Into The Cannibal's Pot, and it turns out he's basically cut and pasted the same "review" into dozens of books he hasn't purchased, like he's posting his Master's thesis onto books written by people he doesn't like. SJWs are pathetic.

Anonymous Sun Xhu August 27, 2015 10:45 AM

Ah,basementhomebrewer, you can tell so much more than that:

Diane is a rabid mac user, iPhone user, Prius driving fattie.

I am sure to be accused of stalking now. ;)

@29 That was hilarious! Forgot about that ad! Thanks!

@31 It's sort of what Samuel Adams said, "It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds." We just need to keep up the fight.

Would you prefer me to buy from Amazon, to keep pushing the Amazon rank, or direct from CH?

Further, if I want to purchase multiple copies so I can pass a few on, how will that work? Will I get separate download links for each copy?

Blogger Markku August 27, 2015 12:21 PM

The cleanness guarantees that it converts nicely to a number of different formats with Calibre, including pdf if you are so inclined.

Blogger Markku August 27, 2015 12:23 PM

It has no DRM, so you can just purchase it as many times as you have gift recipients, and then send your own file to them as email attachment, or whatever. The convenience of having no DRM also means that we have to trust the customer's conscience for these things. The file doesn't know how many people have read it.

Blogger Markku August 27, 2015 12:29 PM

You can also forward them their individual receipts, if you'd like them to have proof of purchase.

Blogger Shimshon August 27, 2015 12:50 PM

@72 Markku are you saying that if you buy on Amazon there's no DRM?! I didn't realize that was possible.

So there's a trade-off. Buy from Castalia so all the money goes directly to it, or buy from Amazon to boost the rank. Either way, a totally open file. Sweet.

Blogger Brad Andrews August 27, 2015 12:55 PM

Any way to squish the cartoons down to the column width? The overwrite the links on the right an make it quite messy.

Blogger Markku August 27, 2015 1:03 PM

Shimshon: Both Amazon and Castaliahouse.com has DRM set to off. Yes, it's possible with Amazon, you select it in the book settings. However with Amazon you actually have to know how to make your Kindle reader spit out a file (easiest with Kindle for PC/Mac).

Also, epub is the master format so the Mobi-formatted file it spits out is already a conversion. You will see a deterioration in the formatting when you convert a conversion. So, if you want to have your book in any format you may wish to have in the future, buy the epub from Castalia House.

As for which we'd like, Amazon or Castaliahouse.com, it's really completely the same to us. The value of having a verified purchase in your review pretty much exactly offsets the small decrease in profit margin. So, if you want absolute freedom from vendor lock-in, now and in the future, choose castaliahouse.com . If you want the convenience of getting the book in all your Kindle devices/programs with one click, choose Amazon.

Blogger Russell (106) August 27, 2015 1:17 PM

You can also buy from Castalia House, download the mobi, and email it to your Kindle account. Then it will be available on on all your Kindles and it keeps track of where you're at and your highlights.

Blogger VD August 27, 2015 1:39 PM

My suggestion is this: if you want auto-updates, go Amazon. If you want EPUB, go Castalia. If you're a subscriber, go Castalia and get the bonus book.

Weirdly, the links were out of order.
The original receipt email had download links for SJWs Always Lie, Hyperspace Demons, and Between Light and Shadow, in that order.
I go back to the email, and the SJWs Always Lie links link to Hyperspace Demons, the Hyperspace Demons links link to Between Light and Shadow, and the Between Light and Shadow links let me redownload SJWs Always Lie.

The copies of SJWs Always Lie downloaded from the rearranged links DO have the corrected Chapter Four heading. (Tested on both the .mobi and .epub versions.) However, it still says Version 002.

I went back to the original email and redownloaded.
Weirdly, the links were out of order.

Not weird, that makes sense. I deleted the old files, then added the two new ones. The old versions were at the top, the new ones added at the bottom.

Normally you wouldn't notice, but for the bonus files.
