Of this, that, and the other thing

All right, a few things that require addressing. First, the Closed Brainstorm meeting to discuss the 2016 strategy will be Thursday, August 27th, at 7 PM EST. Annual and pre-existing monthly members only, since we don't want to share our thoughts with the SJWs. No decisions will be made, this is simply what it's called, a brainstorm session. I'll also share some information about the No Award vote that has been brought to light; still working on documentation. Check your emails tonight for the registration information.

Second, we should probably get going rolling with the VPFL before it gets too late. If you haven't played before and want to give it a shot, post your name here and I'll randomly select the winners who will receive a team to manage. If you qualified to come back, please point that out here. I'm a bit behind on this for obvious reasons.

Third, I have been informed that some are seeking Vile Faceless Minion status. Since I don't have the time to put up with being summoned in the mirror at the moment, you'll just have to email me requesting it with MINION in the subject. If you've recently done so, don't do it again, I've got five or six potential minions waiting to receive Malwyn's mark and get their number.

What is involved, you ask? Mindless obedience, no quarter, public silence, and gnawing on SJW bones. The Dark Lord speaks, the minion acts. If you're not down with that, that's fine, but then don't sign up. The VFM are the Legion's shock troops, the devourers and demoralizers, the breakers of enemy lines. If that's not how you see your role, then stay Dread Ilk, stay Ilk, or simply remain one of the vast numberless minions who also serve the Evil Legion of Evil.

Because as the 400 already know, I will call upon you.

Fourth, SJWs Always Lie: Taking Down the Thought Police will be available in ebook on Amazon and Castalia on Thursday. I don't know when the hardcover will be available, but before the end of the year. To the left is an example of one of the excellent chapter-heading cartoons contributed by the artist Red Meat.

Maybe a couple IDs- The pleasant chap on the throne of bones needs no introduction. John C. Wright to his right tipping his hat? Man standing up in camo, holding spike and mallet- the gentle Dr. Nate, VFM #0001?

The Supreme Dark Lord's Inventively Evil and Aggressively Breasted Executive Assistant, Malwyn, she who is also known as the Whore-Mistress of the Spiked Six-Whip, sitting bottom left. If so, she looks real friendly here. Don't be fooled.

You are probably right about Kratman, but I thought that the camo could even be Markku, due to him being in the Finn military and also that could be the dreaded ban hammer too. Markku does that a lot. If the camo guy is Kratman, does that mean the large goatee guy is Markku? Or maybe Larry Correia.

I figured the gigantic critter was Wendell. Who does the octopus represent?

Just a side note about the success of the Puppy campaign: apparently, the campaign arguably helped keep some book called Invisible off the ballot. Invisible is a collection of essays that were on Jim C. Hines blog. He put out a call some time back asking for blog articles about "other" representation in SF, and that call was answered by a veritable smattering of nobody SJW mouthbreathers.

Well, old Jim Creepy Hines himself "edited" the articles and put them in this collection he titled Invisible. He didn't pay the authors, of course, but instead gave the whole $20 in proceeds to some "safe space" charity. Or maybe it was a charity designed to bus people of not-white to conventions. I forget. Anyway, if not for the campaign, that garbage may have won a Hugo.

So. To everyone who participated, I'd like to say: "Do something nice for yourselves today. Treat yourself to ice cream or go see a movie or just stay home and kiss a loved one. Whatever you like, so long as it’s a way to celebrate and reward yourself for your part in helping to create something good."

http://www.jimchines.com/2015/08/invisible-and-the-hugo/#comments

Blogger Jim August 24, 2015 5:54 PM

Another thought enters my mind for that Brainstorm session. We get these braindead idiots popping up, spewing "Why don't you create your own award" all the time. What if we did that, but the award went to the top vote getter just below No Award at the Hugos? I'd even divide it into three awards: Whole (for those that got both most first votes and most total) and two halves (for instances where first votes and total differ). Have that award ceremony held at a con soon after whoever hosts WorldCon. If we can get the Hugos completely nuked while still nominating worthy candidates, then it won't be WorldCon where the best authors go to receive their accolades. Succeed long enough, and eventually the Hugo itself will be forgotten and you can do the voting direct and stop giving money to WC.

It is completely irrelevant what the moderators (automatthew and me) want, Scoobius. Vox has banned you, and we are tasked with enforcing all the bans in his absence. Again, if that was not clear, it's nothing personal. We have a list of names, and you're in it. Even if you were able to persuade us that Vox shouldn't have banned you it wouldn't make any difference because it's Vox's list. Talking to US about it is not going to be of any help. We're deleting whoever is on the list.

I've been following this blog and the puppy stuff for months and have to wonder, what went wrong? I get that enough SJW's were willing to burn the fields and award nothing to five categories, but even then, why didn't puppy nominees win any other categories? were there just not enough of us?

I get that forcing the SJW's to use scorched earth is a victory, but i would have liked some of the puppy slates nominees to have gotten rockets.

I wanted more of a victory than what we got and want to know what more we could have done.

Blogger James Dixon August 24, 2015 7:31 PM

> ...were there just not enough of us?

There were around a thousand of us. There were 5000 voters total. Both in round figures.

OK. Starting on the left in the back row: John C. Wright, Vox, Larry Correia, Tom Kratman. Front row: Sarah Hoyt on the left, Brad Torgersen on the right. I have no idea who or what the creatures are. I suspect they're dramatic effect to increase the Lovecraftian feel of the picture.

I'd be in favor of Vox allowing Scoob back in if he promised to behave himself. It's not like most of us haven't needed to be slapped down on one occasion or another. Now whether Scoob would even promise such is another matter.

Blogger James Dixon August 24, 2015 7:32 PM

There's nothing more we could have done this year. We didn't have the numbers. Whether we can get the numbers is an open question.

Blogger Mike Farnsworth August 24, 2015 7:37 PM

Slightly OT: I just did a search in google news for "sad puppies" and scanned through the articles and titles. Every one of them was full of lies, right out of the gate. Every dang article.

I knew it was bad, but I'm astounded it was *that bad* that there wasn't even a single positive or even balanced article. The SJW cancer has metastasized badly. The patient appears terminal.

Blogger Markku August 24, 2015 7:37 PM

Doug, remember that this is the third Puppy installation and it has gone from accomplishing essentially nothing at SP1 to taking entire slates at SP3/RP. Nobody expected even that to happen yet, so there were no real plans for the Worldcon shortlist vote. I'm sure SP4 will be about dominating the final vote. Now they know they have the numbers to take the nomination slate. And the SJWs' gloating has taken #GamerGate's attention. So, puppies are in a very good position for next year. If they get #GamerGate, they might utterly annihilate the enemy with THOSE numbers.

Anonymous 334 August 24, 2015 7:39 PM

Not to mention, Markku, that the Ilk need a slate of regular candidates for evisceration. What would this place be without the daily sacrificial SJW troll?

Anonymous AussieTom August 24, 2015 7:40 PM

Here's the hint from Rycamor @20: "If it was Nate there would be a goofy grin and... just a few more weapons."

The guy in the front, who just wants to burn it all down, is clearly VFM #0001 (Nate) representing all VFMs. (Would have been funnier to have given him a glock though.)

That could only be the Toad of Tor in the background, an unwitting minion. To Vox's left are Larry Correia (large with distinctive facial hair) and Tom Kratman (infantryman; ready to crucify). To Vox's right is the ever polite John Wright (with signature hat but absent cane sword) and in the foreground, ever ready to administer correction to the VFMs is Malwyn the dark mistress.

I think the tentacles, bats and skulls are just there to create an ambience of EVIL.

Blogger VD August 24, 2015 7:40 PM

I wanted more of a victory than what we got and want to know what more we could have done.

If I had been a little more on the ball, we could have burned two more categories. That's it. That was the maximum extent possible this year. And that was very good strategy and execution across the board. Since they were willing to go out and spend $100k to defend their turf, they were able to do so despite losing nearly one-quarter of it to their own scorched earth tactics.

Don't worry, we have the initiative and we are advancing. We are putting together our strategy for 2016 and we will continue to take back lost ground.

"An investigation by Daily Mail Online found 16 staff members from the space agency paid for pictures and videos of children in sexual situations, but were never prosecuted. I hereby will vote Vox Day our Supreme Dark Lord, declare Larry Correia to be our International Lord of Hate, decree Sarah Hoyt to be our Beautiful but Evil Space Princess whom we all love and obey, and — let me see, all the good positions are taken — perhaps I can be the Evil Brain in a Jar just like my ancestor, Simon Wright."

BTW,
The Evil League of Evil had to change their name after a trademark dispute with a similar organization led by Bad Horse, the Thoroughbred of Sin.

When the other group objected, our Dark Lord considered the matter and graciously changed the name of our organization, to the Evil Legion of Evil. It is felt to better reflect it's nature as military assault force, rather than a co-ordination committee of useless blatherers who only play at being evil because they think it will get them chicks.

Contrary to the boastful and frankly deranged assertions of the League, the decision to change the name had NOTHING to do with any so-called "Death Ray" or, "Freeze Ray", and we all know that the Transmatter Device is technically impossible.

Refresher. The Evil League of Evil was chartered by John Wright

Good. From that essay, a great piece of advice for trolls:

"Gentlemen do not read unsigned poisoned pen letters. If you want to accuse me, at least sign your name so that my seconds know where to go to decide on matters of time, place and choice of weapons." - John C. Wright

This is so you, Troll, do not appear to be a coward. It's for your own good. Wandering a bit further afield-

"(Reactionaries! There is a lovely but meaningless Marxist swear-word from the Late Victorian Era. I love how these so called Progressives are stuck protesting the social conditions of Charles Dickens’ day.)" - John C. Wright

And The Hon. Dr. Phil Sandifer, BA, BS, Esq, AbC, DeF, PhD, EtC, calls himself an anti-capitalist, typing that into his computer that capitalism built and sending it over the internet which capitalism built. (Computer tech in the USSR was held back for years or even decades on the theory that it would displace the worker.)

But the Marxian's "reactionary" does have content. If you are accosted by a robber, and resist, you are "reacting" to the robbery. Action, reaction. That makes you a reactionary.

I notice the blogger spell check recognized "reactionary". That reminded me to try "manmade". Guess what? MS Office doesn't know from manmade either. SJWs strike again. /rant

If GamerGate were brought on board it would totally change the balance of power for the Hugos(I could easily see GG bringing 2000+ votes to the table). I think you will find many that would gladly participate in the voting process because Gamergate was already blamed for the RP/SP nominations. Most of us were completely unaware of the Hugo thing until we started receiving the blame for it.

I do have to warn you though, you may end up with a Halo novel winning a Hugo.

Since I assume that GG will still be a thing next year (maybe not for the final vote, but almost certainly still in force come April 2016), here are the things that you guys need to do to get GG mobilized:

1. About a month before the voting process, start making weekly posts to /r/KotakuInAction with summaries of what is going on.

2. Participate in the ensuing discussion and explain the whole process in an ELI5 format. We don't follow the Hugo's in general, we don't know the process, we don't know the format, we don't know the stakes.

3. A week before nominations start, suggest a slate. Make it a thread about why these picks are good one. Sell your slate picks to the community. At the same time, open the thread to others within the GG community to make their own picks.

4. A few days later (coordinate this with the mods to get them to sticky the post), open up a thread with the top picks from the last thread (say, top 15, including your slate). Encourage discussion and for people to order their picks by their preference (Be warned that number 1 might be a Halo novel).

5. Use the results of the previous thread to post the GG chosen top 15, ranked by popularity. Stress that this is a suggested slate, link the summaries of each nomination on why it should win a Hugo, and make sure to emphasize that going with the top 5 increases the chances of a nomination.

6. Repeat number 5 three days before the closing, stressing the closing window and that this is the final push,

7. Watch as GG/RP/SP dominate the nominations.

I highly suggest that you guys pick whatever categories are the most prestigious (Best novel, or whatever you guys call it) and focus on those. Let the SJWs burn the 2016 Hugos by No Awarding the only categories people really care about.

If you guys want to be real bastards, No Award every category that is not a GG/RP/SP lock and coordinate the final vote to concentrate on a single work. It would be absolutely hilarious to see the 2016 Hugos No Awarded in every category. It may end up with No Award being stricken as an option. That would then open future awards to domination by RP/SP/GG.

@51 Markku

I imagine gamers (or GGers) spend a lot more than $40 annually on games and related items. Given the high entertainment value per dollar that our efforts in the Hugos provide, as well as the opportunity to really kick some SJW butt, I wouldn't be surprised if some contingent signs on for 2016. That mushroom cloud looks like very enticing.

"Be warned that number 1 might be a Halo novel."

That would actually be hilarious, even better than No Award, and still a far more worthy winner than any of the crap the SJWs push.

@38. automatthew

scoobius ... I can't even imagine what sort of repentance you could have that would result in the moderators trusting you again.

A solution just dawned on me! Instead of banning the alleged trolls, simply have them provide full contact information including employer. If they get on someone's case, provide that person with the contact information, as per John C. Wright's suggestion. For the really tough cases, require an escrow deposit in order to streamline dispute resolution. Surely any reasonable, sane troll will be more than happy to comply with this requirement. It would prove to all that the troll is actually a civilized human, all growed up and stuff.

Better video game tie-in novels than Dr. Who fanfic.

So, they outnumbered us 3:1. Well, I've a wife and two kids that will be voting next year. How many SJWs can say that? All their polyamorous spawning partners are already involved and they are an evolutionary dead end so no offspring.

So I've made up my shortfall before even talking to friends and extended family about engaging or even considering "sponsorships". Again, how many SJWs can say that? They have shown their full force and they are nothing but a spent, irrelevant embarrassment.

I am curious about the No award information. I am wondering if it is stat on how many no awards came from a limited number of billing addresses. It could be very daming to find out that 2500 no award votes came from 300 billing addresses.

Anonymous Hawk S. Rabidus August 25, 2015 11:06 AM

A wife and two kids? Surely nobody from the other side can say that. Well done sir! And sponsoring extended family members to engage in slate voting? That will certainly fix whatever you consider to be broken about the Hugo Awards.

@94
Does everything have to be a tinfoil hat conspiracy? I think that Vox would believe that virtually all of those 2500 award votes would be legitimate. And anyways, the strategy wasn't to out-vote them this year. It was to put up alternate nominations, and see how they voted. So no need for speculations as to how they cheated, as it comes across as sour grapes when none are needed.

It appears that the blogs of two of the founding members of the Evil Legion of Evil have fallen to DDoS attacks. This may not be the case, but since it's not just one, but two of them which are down this morning, and it had already been threatened, it seems likely enough. *Sigh* These people really are immature scumbuckets, aren't they?

Anonymous basementhomebrewer August 25, 2015 11:16 AM

@ 95 It's not really a tin foil hat conspiracy. It's speculation about what information Vox might have and why he is gathering more evidence around it. It's partially based on the FACT that there is one person who advertised openly that they purchased 70 memberships on behalf of other people.

Buy each membership separately. I bought my son a membership at the same time as my own. When he logged on to vote, it brought up the ballot I had filled out for my vote rather than allow him his own ballot.

SO... SJW's always lie is a trusim, but remember that they also cheat. Jus' sayin'.

Well they can say about the dozens of illiterate poor men they picked up at the home depot for rough trade that they could have voting. Even a black preacher admitted you can buy black election votes for $15 a piece. http://www.redstate.com/2014/06/30/breaking-new-allegations-point-cochran-campaign-mississippi-senate-vote-buying-scandal/

that 2500 no award votes came from 300 billing addresses

Soros gave $33million to support the riots for the Ferguson liquor store robber killed by a cop. The tribe likes to identify actors that don't follow the narrative so they can destroy their careers before they get Mel Gibson strong. That is why some of the "Point Deer Make Horse" stuff goes on as a loyalty test.

Hey all. What do I have to do to join the war? I'm throwing my hat in with Vox and all of you.

I'm a reader, though SFF isn't my favorite genre. I'm a casual gamer, sorry I'm not as experienced or knowledgeable as the rest of you, but I'm old and have only so much time to devote to any one thing.

I'm entering the fray late in the game, I know, but I figure every little bit helps. I understand you most likely will be suspicious of me and that's ok.

I plan on buying a Worldcon supporting membership for each member of my family (5). It appears the cost for 2016 is $50. $70 for 2017.

So do I have to sign up here to be counted or is just following posts here enough? TIA

@95. Ah the moderate stirs, so desperate to find the middle ground between the offended and the offenders, the criminal and his victim. So who mentioned slate voting, are you implying my family can't make up their own mind about what they like on their own?

At least 10% of the "No Award" votes were paid for by the puppetress and others, they were proud to announce it to the world. They see no wrong in applying any means necessary to achieve their goals. I cannot speak for Vox but I have serious doubts of the legitimacy of most of the rest. With a multi-billionaire on your side it must be tempting to employ the Soros Solution when things aren't going your way.

Personally, I tend to base opinions on precedence and evidence not on some imaginary line of compromise halfway between the two sides.

"What I consider to be broken..." is exactly what has been proven to be broken by these petulant children.

But please continue to live in your little responsibility free zone between what is patently right and what is so obviously wrong in the name of compromise and avoiding any form of conflict lest you have to stand for something. I know how hard than can be without a backbone.
