The Speaker of the House resigns

Good riddance:
Speaker John A. Boehner will resign from Congress and give up his House seat at the end of October, according to aides in his office.
The timing was apt. I was just contemplating the correct way to define "cuckservative".

The most useful definition I was able to articulate was this: "A self-professed "conservative" who will sell out his nation, his posterity, and his intellectual heritage rather than risk being called "racist".

And speaking of definitions, Frank J. Fleming requested a word to convey the concept of the great feeling of temporarily having the latest tech. He appeared pleased with my suggestion of "iPhoria".

I am available for further neologistic consultancies. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment.

Convenient that he is waiting until after the end of the fiscal year. That way he can twist arms to get a budget passed that locks immigration and PP funding for another year.

Hopefully some of the spineless grow a spine and realize that Boehner's arm twisting is meaningless since a new speaker can undo anything he threatens. Hopefully they also take the opportunity to replace him with someone who isn't an establishment member. Luke Messer would be a great option.

Ghost - Ho. Lee. Fuck.

I googled "Boehner crying" and it seems he does it all the time.

There's something fundamentally wrong with a man who makes a habit out of crying in public. It's not just unmanly - that sort of behaviour wouldn't be acceptable for a grown woman either - it's disgustingly infantile.

George Washington didn't cry when offered the sword of surrender at Yorktown. Harry Truman didn't blub when he ordered the nuclear incineration of Hiroshima. Ronald Reagan was shot in the lung and the arm and lost half his blood in the emergency room. Did he wail like a pussy? No, he took off his oxygen mask and joked to the doctors "I hope you're all Republicans!".

Boehner cries at the drop of a hat. What a mangina.

Blogger Parrothead Al September 25, 2015 10:09 AM

Blogger Zaklog the Great September 25, 2015 10:34 AM

The question is will his replacement be any kind of improvement? Given recent performance of the Republican party, I doubt we have much reason for hope.

Blogger Sevron September 25, 2015 10:36 AM

Be interesting to know what really caused him to go. I could see him resigning his speakership ahead of a coup (you can't fire me, I quit), I can't see him leaving Congress altogether of his own free will. So let's wildly speculate!

1- As a true cuck through and through, is this some spiteful tantrum? The media will make plenty of hay out of "the mean conservatives chased out the cuck that we in the media now suddenly loved all along" if Boener wants to pump that narrative.

2- Did somebody get dirt in Boener that ended his career quietly behind the scenes? If he pulls a "spend more time with my family" line, we can assume this is true. The next question would be who did it? Obama will probably never get a better, more supportive Speaker, so it probably wasn't him.

Any other theories?

Blogger Cataline Sergius September 25, 2015 10:36 AM

Here is the thing Steve. Boehner was never supposed to be anything other than a place holder.

When a congressional majority falls in America like it did in 2006. There follows a prolonged period of painful reassessment, while a new consensus is built and a new paradigm is established. It takes a long time, usually about fifteen years.

Boehner and McConnel were two rungs down the congressional leadership ladder when the roof fell in on the GOP. No one minded if they were caretakers during this period because in American politics it doesn't matter all that much who the leader of the legislative opposition is. Unlike Britain where today's opposition is tomorrow's government.

The problem is that due to Obama's massive over reach the GOP was recalled from the wilderness eleven years too early.

Boehner and McConnel thought they could keep their jobs by using the 1990s playbook. Deliver deliverables to the donor class and Failure Theater to the base. The base has the internet now. They are just as plugged in as the donor class lobbyists on K street.

Boehner should have read Martin Van Creveld, "Nothing destroys morale faster than a string of futile victories."

Cataline - Boehner and McConnel thought they could keep their jobs by using the 1990s playbook.

Here in Britain, the political class is also trapped in a time warp. David Cameron thinks he's 90's Tony Blair, while the new leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition thinks he's at a CND meeting circa 1983.

The electoral system masks a lot of public discontent - like the five million or so who voted UKIP or Green to no avail - but I've never know elected politicians to be held in such low esteem as they are now. To use a 4GW concept, democratic institutions are gradually failing at the moral level.

And this is at a time of relative peace and prosperity. I don't know how resilient our institutions will prove to be in the face of the next big shock.

The future's going to be exciting.

@66 @72 -- The reason you pay graft is because the guy you're paying it to has either influence or access. Boehner's being forced out of the Speakership shows that his influence is now greatly diminished, and if he's going to be taking bribes just for providing access then the working hours and conditions are much more comfortable as a lobbyist than as a sitting member of Congress. And as an ex-member of Congress he has unique advantages (such as continued access to the premises) that other lobbyists wouldn't have... which is exactly why "lobbyist" is such a popular career for former Congresscritters.

So yeah, I'm calling "lobbyist".

Correct. As the Speaker he is a public figure and the more bad press he gets, the more his value to potential "clients" decreases (because ultimately the only thing a politician has to sell is his reputation) -- and he's not likely to get any good press between now and the next ice age, because he's well and truly pissed in his own well.

Solution: Get out of the public eye and get into the behind-the-scenes political networking business, which might not bring the huge campaign warchests but can still pay very very comfortably if you work it right.

Blogger Dave the Henchman September 25, 2015 2:39 PM

OpenID cglasgow99 September 25, 2015 2:41 PM

@98 -- Its definitely not a worry just about re-election, no. If I remember correctly the asshole is from a safe district -- he could indeed get re-elected for the rest of his life regardless of pretty much anything he did.

My guess is that there's a lot of other Republican congresscritters who aren't as assured of their re-election chances, who are from more vulnerable districts that could get potentially get wiped out if the voter base gets fed up enough with the Failure Theater, and that Boehner guesstimated that enough of them are about to hit critical mass that his Speakership wouldn't survive more than one term longer anyhoo.

So, since 'retirement' looks better on the resume than 'thrown out on his ass', he chose door #1 while he still had the chance.

That's a guess, yes. I'd love to know whether or not it was confirmed.

But the general principle is this: Boehner's continued usefulness was measured in how long he could keep simultaneously servicing the donor classes while bamboozling the base into continuing to vote Republican (not just for him but for the House majority in general), and that second one was about to run empty.

Boehner never bamboozled the base and he was doing exactly what the establishment wanted. The next elections are over a year away, that's a lifetime in politics. He could've rode out the rest of this term and then declined to run for Speaker next year. He still would have kept his seat.

Eventually we'll find out why he's leaving.

Blogger Rabbi B September 25, 2015 3:04 PM

"My only problem with the second term, iphoria, is that, well, it should be a term that can be used when "i-anything" has been buried and forgotten."

No. It still works and works well. How long does euphoria last? It implies the nit that you are picking.

Blogger Danby September 25, 2015 3:07 PM

The seat is extraneous. It's the speakership that gives the power, and he was about to lose that. There have been a couple of attempts already this session, and after the failure theater on the Iran deal, there were enough conservatives afraid of losing their seats, and enough Jews willing to defund them, that the majority of the GOP congressmen were finally willing to go against him.

That's why his reprisals for defying him have been so severe lately. He was insecure, and so long as members were afraid to cross him, he could maintain his grip. He lost that.
He doesn't want to go back to being just a congressman.

Blogger Were-Puppy September 25, 2015 3:10 PM

@101 rws
Let's not forget that Boner is John Scalzi's representative in Congress. He can always get a nice retirement gig cutting McRapey's huge lawn.

Now that is hilarious! From that district, we have one guy who loves wearing a dress, and another who is strangely orange and cries a lot. Get a couple more and we can make a special version of CLUE out of them.

So, you're posting from the timeline where Boehner actually did repeal Obamacare, cut federal spending, and build the border security fence? Man, that must be an awesome place to live. Why'd you ever leave there to come here?

Blogger Dave September 25, 2015 3:11 PM

Blogger Dave September 25, 2015 3:21 PM

The base has nothing to do with Boehner being speaker. House of Representative elections are oriented to the locality of the district. The only choices are blue or red. Nobody's asking their candidate who they're supporting for speaker of the house. You can argue the House whip has more power not Boehner.

Blogger Dave September 25, 2015 3:21 PM

Uh both

Blogger Danby September 25, 2015 3:24 PM

Pelosi is Minority Leader, not Just A Congressman. She has weekly phone conferences with the President, entertains all kinds of supplicants, including far more often than was seemly, John Boehner, and is in a great position to help her husband's international trading business.
As someone said once, there's a huge difference between being Former President and Ex-President. GW Bush is a Former Pesident, Carter is an Ex-President.
Boehner doesn't want to be "Ousted Speaker John Boehner"

OpenID cglasgow99 September 25, 2015 3:24 PM

I'll give you that the base is more important in Senate elections as each state only has two. House districts are traditionally more about local issues. Arw you trying to say the base is going to throw out their Republican incumbent because they supported Boehner? Very unlikely.

You may be right. Boehner doesn't strike as the type that would let that bother him. He still would be 1 of 435 and I'm sure has coveted chairmanships plus the benefits, man, don't forget the perks.

My political crystal ball indicates Boehner will ram Immigration Reform down the throat of America before he leaves. This will be be his last big chance to send a giant "FUCK YOU" to republicans who challenged him because, 1. those who might oppose the measure will be called racists and we all know how they behave when that happens, 2. He will be fondly remembered by Jose, Paco and Maria as the "brave and courageous" Republican.

Two big reasons for him to cry tears of joy while selling out the remainder of America.

SJW AWACS:

Obviously if someone is dumb enough to show his ideological colors then you don't need this. However, some fly under the radar. Here's how to catch them.

Watch for SJW face - low dimorphism: puppy-men and hyena women.

Micro-test for honor response and hierarchy tolerance. Watch for direct conflict aversion and reflexive inclusiveness narration. Be suspicious of unadulterated niceness social synch. Beware the genial void. Deliberately challenge to test whether he shoves right back, passively stands on the facts, or acts slippery. #3 fails the test.

Perfect example:

The Ultimate Fighter Season 21 episode 1 @3:30

Masculine deepsocket MT Dan Lambert heads the ATT team, and femme shallowsocket MM Glenn Robinson heads the Blackzilians club.

The wimpy MM infiltrated the MT's gym and bought a bunch of the fighters to start his own. So the MT kicked him out, but too late.

Now both owners hate each other. How to determine who's telling the truth?

Each gives his side of the story. The MT directly attacks the MM, stating facts. The MM vaguely claims the MT is lying, then just inclusiveness narrative affirms his relational strength journey with the various fighters who joined him, while denying all agency.

One man values factual truth, honor and direct conflict. The other values inclusion, narrative and social status. The MM is lying, without even full awareness that he's lying, because truth doesn't even mean the same thing to him. To him, truth is consensus. High status consensus is how he proves he's not a "liar".

The season is incredible. Watch it. No spoilers.

Narratude. Not bad.

Blogger Danby September 25, 2015 5:44 PM

Are you trying to say the base is going to throw out their Republican incumbent because they supported Boehner?
Not specifically, but some are in serious danger of losing the next election. "Nothing is so demoralizing as a string of futile victories." I read recently over at Ace's place that 25% of the GOP voters are disgusted with the inability to get ANYTHING they thought they were voting for. Demoralize them hard enough and those people won't vote. It's a huge number and most repubs literally can't win without them.
So people might not vote directly on whether Boehner is speaker, but a vote against Boehner is a way to earn their vote back. "See, we're doing something to change !" And enough congressmen were hearing from their friends and the all-important donors that something had to be done. Once the preference cascade trips, the knives come out.

Also please don't compare POTUS to congressman.
Why the hell not? Would that be denigratory toward the congressman or to the President? I'm not sure. Anyway, both are elected conmen and thieves. One has a larger stage to preen on, that's the only difference I can see.

"A self-professed "conservative" who will sell out his nation, his posterity, and his intellectual heritage rather than risk being called "racist".

'Sexist' would be the correct fill-in here. Far more damage was done to America and the West via Women's Right's, Women's Liberation, Women's Empowerment, and etc, than ever came close to being done by racialist/race-game policies. Destruction of the economy, of family, of shared national values, of church. Turning government employment into a totalitarian Old Grrls Club. Turning the courts, family and criminal and civil, into Stomp Shops for males, especially males without sufficient wealth to defend themselves from the predator women, administrators, and judge. Single moms in charge, screwing up 'their' childen for life . . . Planned Parenthood and gruesome abortions, with the chirpy, all-American thirtysomethings gushing about how the body parts are removed, sorted, sold off to the highest bidder. Annihilation of education, especially higher-education, and using campuses as the rallying center of their bolshevist feminism, ID politics, Rape Culture demonstrations. And all the rest.

'Racialism' doesn't even budge the needle on the cultural seismometer, while Feminism pegs it out. The hardy heroes of the Right want NOTHING to do with confronting the nation's real problems, of which racialism doesn't even make top five. That's because neither the men on the Left or Right will touch a national ethos centered around A Female's Right to Choose, or just, A Female's Right. What a Female needs (to be safe, of course!) and what a Female commands are the Right's marching orders, only slightly different from the Left.

You look at the faces, and listen to the words, of those rather average females in the .P.P. vids, and you will see who really runs this country. And why the nation's children are slaughtered and parted-out, like pigs, to the Holy Market Forces. All these prog policies of the past 40 years were driven by American females, who organized into vast, and vastly funded, political entities to enact their selfishness and malevolence into Law.

You think you're gonna get out of that by building fences and chucking out illegals? That's just more avoidance and denial by western males, who don't have what it takes to re-claim their nations. You can toss out all the furreners and guess what boys, your wives and daughters and the female stranger at WalMart will still rule over your asses.

It was female enfranchisement that doomed the nation, from a demographic-political standpoint. Black political clout is barely a drop in the cauldron of the Western Witchocracy. Female political, economic, legal, and pseudo-moral clout, otoh, is offa the charts.

You could deport all the illegals from the U.S., shut the mouths of the race-baiters (beginning with the Victim-in-Chief) and clean up the inner cities, and the U.S. would still fall, and fall fast.

Not only was Bonehead unable to confront the gynarchy, neither is any other conservative (or candidate of any group). The churches likewise are emasculated, and don't do anything without checking with their wives and the female donors oops I mean parishioners who set policy, including sermon policy.

OH YEAH the Republicans finally have taken over Congress, boy are we gonna see a backlash against Emperor Obama and the Amerikan Krazytrain.

Uh, waiting. Waiting waiting waiting. Still waiting for that resistance against evil, service to God, and loyalty to country that the Conservatives promised last time around. And utterly failed to deliver, spreading their (and our) cheeks for Obie and stuffing their pockets with money.

Hey ray, it's only going to get worse. The UN came out with their 2030 Agenda:

20. Realizing gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls will make a crucial contribution to progress across all the Goals and targets. The achievement of full human potential and of sustainable development is not possible if one half of humanity continues to be denied its full human rights and opportunities. Women and girls must enjoy equal access to quality education, economic resources and political participation as well as equal opportunities with men and boys for employment, leadership and decision-making at all levels. We will work for a significant increase in investments to close the gender gap and strengthen support for institutions in relation to gender equality and the empowerment of women at the global, regional and national levels. All forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls will be eliminated, including through the engagement of men and boys. The systematic mainstreaming of a gender perspective in the implementation of the Agenda is crucial.

51. What we are announcing today – an Agenda for global action for the next fifteen years – is a charter for people and planet in the twenty-first century. Children and young women and men are critical agents of change and will find in the new Goals a platform to channel their infinite capacities for activism into the creation of a better world.

5.1 End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere
5.2 Eliminate all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation

You know only 1st world countries will play along. I'm guessing rabid feminism, accusations of discrimination, and the emasculation of men will continue for the next 15 years.

normally, while each team arrives separately ( and therefore at different times ), the cameras are there when they enter and explore the house.

the Blackzillians "got to" the house first ... and i don't ever remember seeing vid of that. we just had vid of ATT showing up and the Blackzillians already having picked their rooms

...

which just so happened to include the master bedroom

...

which just so happened to include a sauna

...

which just happened to be "off limits" to ATT.

this is extrapolation on my part, but how much did Glenn have to do with setting this show up and / or recommending a house for the UFC to lease?

because the whole "extra difficulty in weight cutting" thing being imposed on ATT played a pretty significant role in the first several losses that ATT suffered.

there's a difference between not being aware that a particular statement may not be wholly true ...

and intentionally shading and concealing facts in order to play on other people's emotions and set up situations which you expect to play out to your benefit.

the first is merely ignorant, the second is deceitful.

and in my estimation, Glenn is deceitful.
