Goodbye Tiny Tim

After I warned Tiny Tim about his behavior here, he responded:
As if I give a crap. You would be doing me a favor. This blog is as useful as a circle jerk at the Sig Ep house.
I have done him the favor of banning him. I am far too busy these days to put up with commenter antics. If you want to discuss, disagree, analyize, argue, or criticize, that's all fine.

But if you're looking for attention, trolling, or attempting to work through your copious psychological issues, this is not the place to do it. It just isn't, so don't try it. I don't believe in fairness or equality, so this is the very last place to look for it or appeal to it.

I can, but I don't wish to do so. So I won't. I have neither the time nor the inclination to deal with commenter antics these days. But I will always give fair warning, so there is no need to tread lightly. Just engage in discourse, not antics and psychological performance art.

@9 Josh For the record, Porky was always more tolerable than Tiny Tim.

Porky was annoyingly passive aggressive, and thought he was all that because he had discovered the concept of snarky devil's advocate, but he wasn't nearly as annoying as the despairing, tearful screeds of Tiny Tim where he simultaneously attacked himself and everyone else.

Like I said earlier, he may have a different way of expressing the oikophobia so common to the Left in the West, but he still had it nonetheless.

One question regarding deleted comments, it's probably less off-topic here than anywhere else. For Vox, markku, automatthew, or whoever it is that monitors these things:

If you nuke-delete a comment, so it completely goes away, doesn't that mess with the comment numbers? So that further comments that reference comments after the deleted one (but made before the deletion occurs) end up pointing to the wrong comment?

I've seen on other blogger blogs that it's possible to delete a comment and still leave a "tombstone". That might be better, or else get rid of comment-numbers entirely and encourage folks to reference comments by timestamp or by linking to the comment number.

Yeah, the linking to comment numbers system is uncorrectably busted.

I still want the comment numbers, because they help me track where I am in a page, especially upon refresh. But we need a better system for linking to specific replies.

For those who know HTML, it's simple, if tedious. The timestamp on each comment is a link. Make an A tag with that link URL as the href. You can't use BLOCKQUOTE tags in Blogger, because Blogger is retarded. So I recommend wrapping quoted text in B for bold. Italics is not the best choice for quotes, because sometimes there will be italics in the quote, a book title for instance.

Seems like there's one on every site. I recall one guy on a men's site who claimed all the time that he and every real man he knew had copious amounts of firearms buried in their backyards. He claimed that he would walk by chicks in bars, hit them with a single line, and they would immediately leave the guy they were with to suck his dick in a bathroom (one such line was "my girlfriend eats girls like you for breakfast." I will let somebody else field test that one). That was all on top of the typical "you are all pussies and I am a real manly man who is manly" stuff. I often wonder if they get bored with their nonsense.

Let's share our favorite Tiny Tim moments. Mine was when he claimed his son sustained injuries from "fighting" an illegal in a bathroom, and absolutely, definitely not from engaging in rough trade.

I don't think you would be doing me a favor by booting me, or not. I still think it's a gas. Anywhile... it's your digs, you get to call the shots... within what you are allowed.

Reminds me of some of my favorite drinking holes from way back. I couldn't call the place home unless people were getting kicked out fairly regularly. Sometimes I helped. Once in a rarity, it was me that was being carted out. Very rarely... takes a lot of ants to cart out an angry ox. Here, though, it's all just paperwork. "Here's your card!" :p

I guess that's my cue. As automatthew said, we have no control over the mobile template. We also have no control over the comment box itself, and no ability to manipulate the comment once it's in there, because it's inside a stupid iframe. I have some ideas how to work around that and do what we need to do, but it's complicated. Blogger Cail Corishev September 16, 2015 6:52 PM

Is it just me, or do things seem to be "crystalizing"?

It's not just you. I think leftists feel like their time has come, that they've reached critical mass. They control all the major institutions, and even many of the biggest hitters in the corporate world, which they used to see as enemy territory. They got their dream president and as liberal a pope as you'll ever see. They've been able to push around traditionally masculine entities like the NFL. TV is an endless barrage of SJW themes. They've discovered that they can get pretty much anyone fired by getting a mob to point at him and yell "Racist!" With each advance, they've become more flush with power and less willing to keep the frog at simmer.

Along with that, I think the smarter ones realize that the pendulum will swing back eventually, so they need to get as much as they can before that happens. If not now, when? When will things be more in their favor than right now? Strategically, they probably should push as far as they can now, because the opportunities might be noticeably worse in as little as a year.

On the other side, non-SJWs are waking up and realizing they're in a real fight whether they want it or not, so they're crystallizing too. They don't have the frenzy of the SJWs, but they have a lot more quiet resolve.

Porky, Tiny, who was the third ban?

Anonymous WaterBoy September 16, 2015 8:00 PM

Dave @94: "are you viewing the web version?"

Yes, though I can switch between web/mobile at will. Despite the smaller screen, I still prefer to see things as I would on my laptop. The mobile version also omits the side links, which I use often.

@102 Bard
Someone named Spooner. I vaguely remember him recently -- he didn't appear to have posted for long, but he apparently made himself so obnoxious he got 86'ed quickly.

Unfortunately, I don't have any examples of any of his posts at hand.

Anonymous BigGaySteve September 16, 2015 8:06 PM

I was going to get shooting tips from Tinny Tim. While I shot in the top marksmanship category while in the military I doubt I could shoot the wings off a fly of TT's son's nose. But I am willing to try.

d every real man he knew had copious amounts of firearms buried in their backyards.

Even I know you need only a few guns, & cleaning supplies but copious amounts of ammo.

Anonymous WaterBoy September 16, 2015 8:07 PM

Cail Corishev @97: "So it's probably better to delete them completely, even though that makes other things more difficult."

All in all, I don't think there are that many incidents which generate a lot of necessary deletions, like the one that struck yesterday.

Or maybe there are, but they're generally removed quickly, before they actually affect things....? If so, nuking them is definitely better.

Anonymous zen0 Economicus September 16, 2015 8:09 PM

@57 Praetorian

I agree with him that raising rates will be disastrous, but I also think that not raising rates will simply make things worse (standard austrian reasoning.)

Private debt is Steve Keen's pet project. He has some other very interesting information about it previously reported at his own site. Cool 3D charts in rotating format.

All I know is, disaster is in the eye of the beholder.

Or, as the Old Man used to say, depends who's Ox is gored.

Besides, sometimes you're a good antidote to the groupthink."

Timmy always was a Gamma pretending to be Alpha. No big loss there. Porky had a bit of style, but I can see why he rubbed many the wrong way. The lesson to be learned is if enough people are telling you that you're being an asshole, stop and reassess.

Tiny Tim chose to pursue his art, however, and suffered a fatal heart attack in Minneapolis on November 30, 1996. He left the stage after performing "Tip-Toe Through the Tulips," his signature song, and died an hour later.

TT will live in legend from the amazing Walmart tale.

i can't believe you all keep forgetting the single most disturbing part of the outhouse sniper story ...

that Tiny was using his son's shoulder for a gun rest.

i mean, seriously, wtf? and then we find out in the Walmart story that the son is 6 foot +? so, in order for Tiny to use him as a gun rest

...

the boy HAS TO BE KNEELING IN THE OUTHOUSE .....

dude is seriously messed up.

course, there's always the line, "I've heard only steers and queers come from Texas, and you don't look like you got no horns, boy."

Also, can somebody link Tiny Tim's stories?

I used to think that Texas was full of conservative rough hardasses so that line alwas seemed like sarcasm (or bizarre) to me.

Of course that was before I knew about Austin or that places like Tennessee/Alabama make Texas look decidely less like "Bastion of Conservatism/Southern Pride" to me.

It's not just you. I think leftists feel like their time has come, that they've reached critical mass. They control all the major institutions, and even many of the biggest hitters in the corporate world, which they used to see as enemy territory.

Yes and yes. I've noticed a significant drop-off in anti-business talk from the young lefties of today vs those of twenty years ago - or even pre-Obama. They have a sense that their rabbit-tribe is in control, and so they're starting to act like a reactionary elite. It is another convergence contradiction they won't be able to reconcile with their revolutionary rhetoric.

But, hey, if they want to be the communist apparatchiks c.1987, that is fine with me.

Anonymous bgs September 16, 2015 11:28 PM

It's not just you. I think leftists feel like their time has come, that they've reached critical mass.

I can't even explain to them that it is bad for them that the mask is not just slipping but being tossed aside. Leftists cheering for people to lose their jobs while sanctuary cities ignore laws. They think the rough men that currently keep them safe will do their bidding. Even San Fran cops don't bother investigating crimes when both victim and attacker are designated victim catagories

Tiny Tim really had the delusions of grandeur thing down pat. Schizophrenics never had it so good!

Anonymous Jack Amok September 17, 2015 12:18 AM

I think "who was the third ban?" is on the verge of entering the ilk's lexicon as shorthand for "that question was already answered." Well, it's not really shorter, but you understand.

I never much cared for Tiny Tim. Porky was obnoxious, but the Porky from a while back was at least tolerable. This latest incarnation was... too prolific. Like a few others have said, he spewed too many comments and degenerated into pointless sniping at everyone. I skipped whole sections too.

That, to me, is the inexcusable sin. Pick a fight, be obnoxious, whatever. Don't make the thread unreadable and don't try to monopolize everyone's attention.

I'm usually on late Pac Coast time (then in the morning for a bit). Not sure if my kind of commentary is what you're looking for... but yeah, sometimes if the thread is already long and sections have degenerated into some mindless trolling or sperging, I wonder if it's worth posting any comments. Will anyone wade through the much to read comment #184?

That was epic! And during that I somehow learned of another epic character - the Mall Ninja.

I mean, even the choice of knife was epic.

So from what I understand, TT only mentions his kids when there is a crapper nearby. I wonder if this is somehow his version of "dropping the kids off at the pool"?

The calm ones aren't necessarily focusing.

In order to say acceptable things, people make believe the crisis isn't happening, and gradually they buy into their own act, forgetting the truth.
