Why are the only "men" who commit the sin of mansplaining the sort who wear dresses? It should be called transplaining.
Scalzi likes Lionel Richie songs, and he doesn't care who knows it.
Why can't people just talk 'Murican any more!! :pwe're going to need a translator
Is he even capable of mansplaining? That implies that he had at least an iota of masculinity. What he does is more like squeesplaining.
I like Lionel Ritchie, because I have two ears and a heart. What goes on in the brain of a Scalzi when he sees a feminist hashtag designed to insult men, and immediately decides to jump on the ball-less bandwagon? It's bizarre. Like if black people started twittering KKK memes.Sure, I understand that on some level the scalzified male hopes he'll gain female approval/sex if he clowns and capers for the feminists obsequiously enough. But this is taking it into the realms of memetic self-castration. So... is it a fetish? Does Scalzi beg his strapping big wife to hold him down and spit in his mouth? Is he wearing trousers when he sends out this type of tweet?
Liking Lionel Richie alone doesn't make a guy into a mangina, but in Scalzi's case it fits with the bigger picture.
It's great, because he can't use his typical tactics, since he's talking to a privileged class in his circle. If she were POC, he probably would've apologized outright for causing her mental discomfort.
Run ins between male feminists and non feminist women are always fraught with comedy. Feminists, especially the male type, can't square women have moral agency with not being a feminist. I had one of these conversations a while ago with an Amanda Marcotte idolizing manlette. It took a while of explaining to him that I legitimately don't see my interests reflected in feminism before he outright said that he thought women like me were brainwashed and he wanted to "help" me see the light. He knew it was condescending and patronizing but he was right so he couldn't be patriarchal (?).
And people wonder why my sarcasm detector is broken. Even your worst senses of humor can't dream up shit half as bizarre as what real life keeps throwing up every week. :)
Noah B: Snoop loves him some Phil Collins, so there's that....
Mansplaining is not something a man does. It is something a feminist male does.
Snoop loves him some Phil Collins, so there's that....As does Mike Tyson
Scalzi can only define masculinity in the negative--what he personally opposes as bad in men is not masculine.
Mansplaining@scalzi tried that with his wife once.Once.He wears dresses now.
Johnny has his fingers on the pulse of muliebrity. He's edgy that way.
Is it really mansplaining when he doesn’t actually explain anything?
Scalzi: I'M NOT MANSPLAINING! I LEAVE IT TO YOU AS AN EXERCISE GAAAAAAAAAH!MR CAPS LOCK has reached a new level of sad and pathetic.
Masculinity is only fragile if it involves apologizing.
What he does is more like squeesplaining.I like it because it is a lot shorter than daughterbenchesmorethanmesplaining.
Before Lionel Ritchie was Lionel Ritchie (tm), he was the lead singer for the Commodores. The Commodores recorded thisHe still performs it.Don't let the fact that he now croons fluffy songs to make the ladies weak in the knees fool you, liking Lionel Ritiche is not necessarily indicative of low T.
And in today's entertainment, Scalzi Gets Served.
Seriously, how can his daughter actually bench more than him? I don't think that's physically possible. High school girls are almost always lucky to be able to bench the empty bar. Is his daughter an actual athlete that trains? Or is he really unable to bench that much?He had to be exaggerating, right? Right?
If he actually can't bench more than his daughter - or he's only pretending that's true - either way it's dickless and embarrassing.
When a feminist (male or otherwise) voices a negative about anything, it should be called "cuntplaining."
I asked him how was the dress modeling going for him.Scalzi: "(pats head)It's going great, thanks! How's 'being terrified of ever not being a bro' going for you?"Vox was right: "They are assuming that their weaknesses apply to you and they are attempting to play upon those nonexistent weaknesses in order to try to send you into a psychological tailspin."
I dont get why she asks about double standards. According to feminist ideology, it is not a double standard for women to accuse men in ways that they would shriek and gibber over if done in the reverse. Because their official doctrine is that men cannot be the victims because men have all the structural power in our rape culture, just the same as there's officially no such thing as black against white racism, because white's have all the structural power.Hence affirmative action, for example, in either case, is not bigotry at all, is not a double standard, is not problematic in any way.The very PURPOSE of this doctrine was to prevent whites and men from objecting on the basis of double standards or any other logical argument, and the feminazis went even further and declared logic itself to be an oppressive tool of oppression invented by oppressive white males explicitly to oppress the eternally oppressed women and darkies. If you read modern feminist propaganda, you can plainly see they've succeeded in eliminating all logic from their own thought processes, and perhaps even in eliminating all thought ...
@27 Scuzza Cause she's not a radfem. She writes about gaming for the Escapist.
If you read modern feminist propaganda, you can plainly see they've succeeded in eliminating all logic from their own thought processes, and perhaps even in eliminating all thought ...The not-so-strident feminists like to believe they're still sane, fair, and logical. So rubbing their noses in their hypocrisy is something they hate.
I think this has been covered before, but what is it with the oh-so-cute pithy replies and the sugary send offs? Is that one of the gamma tells, or is it just Scalzi? I used to be very gamma, but I don't recall doing this.
Personally, I absolutely believe in mansplaining. Women never get it, until they get it. Even so, they don't seem to ever change (explained well in Game, mind you, from what I have seen). It's part of their schtick, it's a draw, or a feature not a bug (once you know how to manage it). It is just that when someone like Scalzi does it, being on the wrong side of that in every way, it's got to fail. It's wonderful to see that he actually tries to do it, which means he knows it is right... somewhere in there. It's too bad that whatever, deep inside, which knows the truth, doesn't move that knowledge to a way of life rather than an accident against his conscious intent. He proves the point, then totally misses it, if because he is misusing it so terribly? Psychic slapstick at it's finest. At least his daughter doesn't stand him up so as to make him seem like a true pussy. Oh... wait... Never mind.
@Russell (106)I asked him how was the dress modeling going for him.I had a similar *experience*. Apparently you can purchase a phone case with Scalzi's picture on it over at Amazon. When I asked if this picture would have been more aropos. I was subsequently deleted and blocked. I asked him if had no sense of humor to which he snarked:@scalzi Do you have no sense of humor? Why can't you laugh at yourself along with the rest of us?@406Baruch I have a great sense of humor! For example, I love to point and laugh at sockpuppets!Class A putz.
Haus Frau -I had one of these conversations a while ago with an Amanda Marcotte idolizing manlette. It took a while of explaining to him that I legitimately don't see my interests reflected in feminism before he outright said that he thought women like me were brainwashed and he wanted to "help" me see the light. He knew it was condescending and patronizing but he was right so he couldn't be patriarchal (?).Similar to my experience. My first run in with typical feminism was my first boyfriend in college. He told me I was brainwashed if I wanted to get married and have kids and actually think I'd be happy.No.Scuzzaman -If you read modern feminist propaganda, you can plainly see they've succeeded in eliminating all logic from their own thought processes, and perhaps even in eliminating all thought ...Check your male privelege. We don't need male logic! Now just to get a computer to run on this female "logic".
I asked him if had no sense of humorHe can laugh at others, but not himself. He is quite insecure.
Gosh, is Scalzi still in grade school? He sounds like such a vacuous individual. He is narcissistic with no real empathy for anything except his own agenda. Well, and his huge lawn! Didn't you all know he has a huge lawn? It is really, really BIG! The space station uses it to key in ground instrumentation.
@406Baruch I have a great sense of humor! For example, I love to point and laugh at sockpuppets!Scalzi unpersoned a Jew.
@28 Dave W:I got that. But she's not talking to one, she's asking that question of a feminist.
haus frau: I had one of these conversations a while ago with an Amanda Marcotte idolizing manlette. It took a while of explaining to him that I legitimately don't see my interests reflected in feminism before he outright said that he thought women like me were brainwashed and he wanted to "help" me see the light.I had a similar experience not long ago with a feminist manlette sanctimoniously lecturing me on why I was wrong to reject feminism. I'm a fairly gentle woman, but I was so filled with aggressive loathing, I wanted to scissor kick that idiot in the head.
So the dress-wearing SJW 'man' who can't match his 14 yr old daughter's bench press doesn't like conventional ideas about masculinity? Shocked, I say.
Someone commented on the Instapundit story about an antitrust suit against universities for their hiring practices, something to the effect of "I don't know why these academics think they are exempt from laws like this".This exchange with Scalzi sounds similar. 'Men' like Scalzi seem like the type who operate with the kind of anti-feminism shield that Whedon used to have, where they could say and do whatever they wanted so long as they publicly supported the right causes and people. These guys are going to learn that Alinsky's book should have come with a WARNING! section, about what happens when your enemies learn to use your weapons against you. That said, I saw something a while back; someone had done a series of short stories about various Sad/Rabid Puppies authors and supporters getting doxxed, and how the interactions with the SWAT team would go.The search that lead me to that also helped me to find a short piece about the meeting of Sad Puppies and GamerGate, and it showed a cartoon of Vivian James holding a Sad Puppy with a GamerGate symbol on his collar, with the line "I don't know why everyone thinks you're mine, but you sure are cute" as a caption.Did anyone see that? It might have been by the same guy who did the doxxing pieces, but I'm not sure, and I'd like to find it again. Despite remembering the line almost word for word, Google isn't helping.
@2 Noah B #120 Scalzi likes Lionel Richie songs, and he doesn't care who knows it.---Hey, I wonder if there is a photo of him wearing one of those old Commodores jackets with the big shoulders? Well, maybe not Lionel Richie, he strikes me more as a Carribean Queen.
@40 WhiteKnight The search that lead me to that also helped me to find a short piece about the meeting of Sad Puppies and GamerGate, and it showed a cartoon of Vivian James holding a Sad Puppy with a GamerGate symbol on his collar, with the line "I don't know why everyone thinks you're mine, but you sure are cute" as a caption.Did anyone see that? It might have been by the same guy who did the doxxing pieces, but I'm not sure, and I'd like to find it again. Despite remembering the line almost word for word, Google isn't helping.---That is actually in SJWs Always Lie.
Has he ever explained how he can be a rapist, but also have no balls?
@33 Similar to my experience. My first run in with typical feminism was my first boyfriend in college. He told me I was brainwashed if I wanted to get married and have kids and actually think I'd be happy.No.That's funny. This may be somewhat off topic but that brings back memories of a college friend I had who was in a dead end, live in relationship for several years with a boyfriend who adamantly told her he did not want to marry her nor did he ever want more children. He was divorced with two kids who she often babysat. She told me on a number of occasions that she desperately wanted kids and to get married but had decided she probably only wanted those things because she had been programmed by society to want them so she decided to stay with him anyway. He ended up dumping her for someone else that he married and had children with.
Re: feMENists: I got so tired of them lecturing me about my "wasted life" at home my stock answer to the question "what do you do?" was "I'm a dominatrix." (deadpan delivery). Normal men would burst out laughing. Your Scalzies, not so much, although you'd think they'd like that kind of thing. Scalzi's writing sounds so swishy and gay to me--not at all like a straight man. Anybody remember Christopher Lowell the interior designer? That's who pops in my head when I read Scalzi.
@40You really should work on your google-fu. Image searching for "Vivian James Sad Puppy" gets it on the first page.
@43 Has he ever explained how he can be a rapist, but also have no balls? He can start it. He just can't finish it. typical liberal shit thrower. I wonder if his victims feel like they got shafted.
I like that Scalzi is a feminist. There is a section in Orwell's The Road to Wigan Pier that explains that your average working Englishman might be attracted to the ideas of socialism... but then he goes to his first meeting of his local chapter and is so disgusted by the freaks and misfits: he explicitly mentions sex maniacs, nudists, feminists, and fruit-juice drinkers. Some things never change, I guess...Anyway, Scalzi cannot proclaim his feminism loudly enough, as far as I'm concerned. He's got Wigan Pier Syndrome written all over him. Pictures of John Scalzi in his evening gown proclaiming this is what a feminist looks like ought to be shown to every middle-school student.
@46I wasn't looking for the cartoon; Vox has it on his page. I was trying to find the article that had that line in it. Were-Puppy helped me out.@42Thanks. I read it, but promptly forgot where I found it!
@32 Rabbi BHa!The little man's a might touchy.@36 AlexanderScalzi unpersoned a Jew.No, the Rabbi is just a sockpuppet, see? You can't unperson something that wasn't a person to begin with.
> ... he outright said that he thought women like me were brainwashed and he wanted to "help" me see the light. If it ever happens again, tell him to check his privilege.
> No, the Rabbi is just a sockpuppet, see?Scalzi thinks we're all sockpuppets.
Personally, I absolutely believe in mansplaining. Me too. And I prefer to precede my splainin' with, "Now listen sweetie..." (Sugar t*ts also works, but you have to have a sense of your audience, e.g., don't use the latter when there are kids around).
Rabbi B @32 - When I asked if this picture would have been more aropos. I was subsequently deleted and blocked. I know this has been said before but that poor pup. It can look forward to a life of hip dysplasia, diabetes and and man-dresses.

Put on your Cosby sweater, recite Monty Python and charm her, Johnny Con. You know she wants you.
@50 Russell (106)The little man's a might touchy.Yeah. And I thought the modeling was going quite well.
@52. Scalzi thinks we're all sockpuppets.... and since SJWs always project, that tells you how many HE has ...
It's really troubling that a erm... man... like that is obsessed with 'sock puppets'.So disturbing. Much can't even.
The very PURPOSE of this doctrine was to prevent whites and men from objecting on the basis of double standards or any other logical argument, and the feminazis went even further and declared logic itself to be an oppressive tool of oppression invented by oppressive white males explicitly to oppress the eternally oppressed women and darkies. Now why am I thinking of the UN conventon on genocide when I read this?
@58 I can assure you we are not.I even saw a horror writer friend who knows Scalzi calling bullshit.
Scalzi...man(?) Not on my planet!
Didn't he misspell it? S: #My-sculinitySoFragile
Snoop loves him some Phil Collins, so there's that....13. Geoff September 24, 2015 12:45 PMAs does Mike Tysoni think Mike Tyson loves anybody he wants too.and he's got the rape conviction to prove it.23. Thomas Davidsmeier September 24, 2015 1:17 PMHe had to be exaggerating, right? Right?SJWs always lie?more seriously, i pointed out when this was going on that this is probably the best parenting Scalzi can think of:allowing his daughter to "outlift" him in order to allow her to be "better than" somebody when she's first getting into exercising.remember, for Scalzi, image and narrative and unearned self esteem are everything.31. Doom September 24, 2015 1:46 PMWomen never get it, until they get it. Even so, they don't seem to ever change we've all had some version of this conversation:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4EDhdAHrOg
@57 Rabbi BAnd I thought the modeling was going quite well.Well, that's why I asked, since that was one of the last dresses he has modeled lately.@52 James DixonScalzi thinks we're all sockpuppets. We might be Vile and Faceless. There is a certain truth to us being Minions, but sockpuppets?Absurd.Vox's IQ is quite high, but pulling of an army of VFMs, Ilk, Dread Ilk, allies and other assorted friendlies is stretching it a bit.
@48 I don't mind freaks and misfits. I do mind authoritarians, privcheck BS from champaign socialists and people who lie, cheat, steal, etc. I've had to work with them and I suppose I was too charitable to connect the first as a cause of the latter until I got burned.Protip: the sincere anarchists, not the undercover infiltraitors, are entirely self-interested as I found.
@47 ... I wonder if his victims feel like they got shafted.Yeahhh, with a big ol' strap-on.
... and since SJWs always project, that tells you how many HE has ...Of course.> Absurd.Well, yeah. And he knows it. But it fits his narrative, so...You know I think I read a rule about that somewhere recently...> Yeahhh, with a big ol' strap-on.Nah, his wife keeps that one. He has to use the smaller one.
If he actually can't bench more than his daughter - or he's only pretending that's true - either way it's dickless and embarrassing. And his daughter is thinking in her heart, and behind his back, "My dad is a pussy. But at least he's cute."
Protip: the sincere anarchists, not the undercover infiltraitors, are entirely self-interested as I found.Ironically, this is true of anarchocommunists AND anarchocapitalists.
@49 WhiteKnight Something about that whole situation struck me as well. I wasn't really aware of Gamergate, but was aware of the Sad Puppies. So it was really interesting how the two had a semi intersection at one point. And the GGers maybe weren't really involved in Sad Puppies, but I bet it was a big boost for both teams to see there was another group dealing with the same stuff.
I find this all very confusing. But its all part of Scalzi's pattern to falsely attribute attitudes/beliefs to people and then snark about it. he sets up straw men -not knock down- but to snark at.
@70 Curtis And his daughter is thinking in her heart, and behind his back, "My dad is a pussy. But at least he's cute."---And when she gets a little older, she can kick his ass and steal his dresses muahahahaaa!
This reminds me of a good while back a wrestling storyline. There was Chris Jericho and some other guy named Saturn. A little fued went on for a while, and then Jericho challenges Saturn to a "loser has to wear a dress" match. So after the match, Jericho wins and Saturn had to wear a dress. A buddy got tickets and we went to see some big thing live, and Jericho came out and said something like "You know Saturn, when I said I was gonna beat your ass and make you wear a dress, I didn't think you'd actually like it."It was also funny as someone had a sign that said "Saturn is near Uranus" in the crowd.
@ haus frau:Clearly, you have a false consciousness due to having been mentally colonized by the Patriarchy, you poor little irrational woman.Bless your heart. It must be so hard.Fortunately, you have a man like me, who is totally not even masculine -- let alone representative of the Patriarchy -- to tell you how you should think. Lucky girl!
@76It was also funny as someone had a sign that said "Saturn is near Uranus" in the crowd. The sign-holder must have been a Sailor Moon fan ... or am I totally misunderstanding this?
I don't know anything about Sailor Moon. But the point is, a big huge hairy guy named Saturn is in a dress. So I don't think the sign was referring to the planetary Uranus.
@ Sevron: "I think this has been covered before, but what is it with the oh-so-cute pithy replies and the sugary send offs?"There are parallels between women, gammas and lambdas. You could look at that as the gamma version of flaming, which not all lambdas do either.
@48 Pictures of John Scalzi in his evening gown proclaiming this is what a feminist looks like ought to be shown to every middle-school student. If you're referring to the link @ #32, it looks more like a walking gown. Though if so Scalzi badly needs to tuck lace. And put on a bonnet. I suppose it could be an extremely dowdy evening dress, but then the poor man needs proper gloves.
Is it really mansplaining when he doesn’t actually explain anything?I think you hit the nail on the head here. Mainsplaining as a term is just like SJW itself - every component a lie. No man does it, and it doesn't explain anything.
There are parallels between women, gammas and lambdas.Jack's Theory #1: Gammas are men who for some reason did not have a sufficient testosterone spike as infants and so their brains did not develop the structures necessary for masculine thought patterns. They respond to the world in the same way that women would, but the world still expects them to respond like men, creating significant problems for the Gamma.
Heh. Maybre Lizzy is growing up. Had a decent twitter exchange with her for a while when she had just started, but she then blocked me when I didn't retract a pic of Zoe showing her ass with a label of the : Zoe Quinn's only assets variety. She bought into the tone policing then. Hopefully she will begin to understand about shooting on your own side soon. She's witty and a good pro GGer otherwise.
Sometimes, the Kali Yuga actually transforms man into a pathetic golumn-esque creature. Scalzi is a prime example.
#9 (and all)SEE: Professor Hugo Schwyzer.CaptDMO
Scalzi must feel more relaxed now that the homo pedo child predator ring on the Left is coming out of the shadows. He'll have some solid backing and allies there.
It's always good in a battle when the enemy side is wearing uniforms, in this case dresses.
@83 Jack AmokI think there is a huge cultural element. Gammas are more likely to happen in a female-dominated environment, where not only are do the men not have strong examples of manly leadership behavior, but any natural expressions of such behavior will be discouraged. So they subdue the "toxic masculinity" of themselves and others as they were taught to do.Of course, not everybody responses to culture in the same way, so some theory like yours may partly explain the differences.
Scalzi's lying about the bench press to appease his daughter. Gotta be.
