At least they're empty

Swedes are following the German lead in burning planned refugee hostels:
An old school building in Onsala, south of Gothenburg, caught fire on Saturday evening. It was the third time in a week that prospective asylum accommodation has been badly damaged by a fire.

The fire was attended by 20 firefighters. The building, part of the otherwise demolished Furulidsskolan, was to be prepared to greet asylum seekers in the affluent area of Kungsbacka.

“Half the building has been damaged by fire,” said Mikael Lindgren, lead operator of the emergency services in Greater Gothenburg.

The cause of the fire is unclear but police will cordon off the area and carry out a technical examination when the emergency services have finished making the property secure.

The fire occurred just a day after a school, just south of Ljungby in Småland, was also destroyed by fire. The school building was to be used to accommodate refugees and had recently been decorated.

On Tuesday night a building in Arlöv in Skåne, designed for unaccompanied refugee children, was badly damaged. The centre was due to be open to the children the following day.

Two months ago, two other refugee centres were the targets of arson attacks. There have been a suspected 14 arson attacks on asylum centres since the start of the year.
I expect it won't be long before we start reading about politicians' homes being burned. It's not like they can't go live with the refugees they love more than their own people.

Often arsonists turn out to be firefighters who want the attention being a hero brings. I wonder how much of their fire services are made up of volunteers. In the US (unpaid) volunteer anything pretty much exclusively white people, it was posted in another thread the 300 volunteers at one charity quit at once because serving ungrateful moslems instead of their own people wasn't what they signed up for.

Outside my town in Germany is a new refugee settlement where hundreds of refugees are being accommodated. Of course, I wouldn't dream of using the word "concentrated" but this non-concentration camp has large white tents in neat rows and high wire fences and guards.

Ironically, this is what we call helping people.

All it needs is a spiffy three-word slogan about work and freedom ...

This is definitely looking like the average people in these nations aren't happy about their political leaders ignoring their concerns. Admittedly, I wouldn't want a refugee settlement near me, either. Not unless everyone in my town carried a gun everywhere they went.

In those European countries where wearing a burqa is still legal, I would not be surprised to find out that the fires were being set by people wearing burqas.

It's a shame they completely conceal a person's identity so those arsonists can't be identified.

My neice, who did an exchange trip to Germany last year told me her German friend recently
"...... did a play with her friends, acting out how bad a refugee's life is and how gratuitous wealthy people's problems are. She's trying so hard to be humanitarian"
Her friend explained she feels Germany is responsible to act because of the holocaust. Amazing how much mileage they get out of blood guilt propaganda over there. I don't know how common this complete internalization of blood guilt by the young people over there is but when my niece starts relaying to me that her German friends are expressing mild apprehension toward the refuges then I'll have to assume WWIII is around the corner. I keep tabs on them like coal mine canaries.

How about "Diversity Macht Frei"

In those European countries where wearing a burqa is still legal, A 6"+ burqa wearer would probably stand out.

Oh, I don't know. Prince Charles despite pretty much everything he's ever said and done has from time to time let the mask slip and revealed some gloriously pro-English sentiments. Harry has no problem mucking in the with the type of chaps who would clear England of Pakistanis: both on the battlefield and at the costume party.

I think history will judge Elizabeth II harshly: as an ineffectual queen who stood by in the name of parliamentary supremacy at a time when England really needed the monarchy to step in and step up. But generally I think that Rotherham hits the city councilman, the police, and parliament (ie. the democracy elements) much harder than it hits the monarchy.

If one really wanted to play a round of awesome conspiracy theories, I like to imagine that Harry is biding his time, and in the midst of the bloody chaos that will inevitably hit England in the next decade will demand a return to the monarchy of those power delegated to it but gradually (and never formally) ceded to Parliament, the evidence clearly showing they weren't up to the job. The Harry launches a coup, marries the Aryan ideal who will not be a party city princess and takes back the Staple.

Then breaks for tea, to be followed by sunday cricket on the town green to the sound of sheep baa-ing softly in the distance.

"Thus I was hardly surprised today to read that the Swiss military recently conducted exercises based on financial instability in France resulting in chaos that threatened Switzerland. Operation DUPLEX-BARBARA posited an invasion by bankrupt French who, after the financial collapse of the European Union, wanted to get their money out of Swiss banks. While the Ministry of Defense (MoD) was at pains to explain that this was a purely hypothetical exercise, it’s hard to miss the underlying assumptions that Swiss defense planners foresee in Europe’s future."

Regarding 'welfare queens'.

It ought be noted that the Crown Estate generates quite a bit of dosh. Looking at comparisons between moneys 'paid' to the crown by parliament versus how much money parliament takes in by virtue of the wealth of the the Crown Estate not being held by the monarch... Parliament has gotten the better end of the deal.

So unless one advocates stopping payments to the crown as well as simply seizing the estates - what some people might undiplomaticly call theft - then I call shenanigans on the crown being the problem here.

I dont live in Munich, but further West. However I've been there a few times. It is a beautiful city and one of my favourite places in Germany. The Bavarians are a bit like Texans (or like the reputation of Texans, anyway) they consider themselves as different from the rest of Germany, or rather they consider themselves the real Germans and the rest somewhat pretenders.

But I haven't been there since this latest refugee influx started so I cannot say with any certainty. Most of the overt resistance to the Merkel policy has been in the old East Germany, where people are understandably a bit more sensitive about, and a bit more recently experienced with, having a foreign culture imposed on them by force.

If you have security concerns, I wouldn't. Munich is a big place, so you exercise the normal prudence you should in any large city of the world, but there's no particular measures you need to take, as far as I know.

One of my fondest memories was a brisk summers day while I was doing then Pennine Way. There is a pub called Tan Hill in the Yorkshire Dales that bills itself as the highest pub in England. There was a sign on the front door that said "No sheep allowed." as they grazed freely in the area.

Well my brother goes to try and pet one of the sheep and of course it bleets and runs away. And behind me, this great booming laugh and in a thick Yorkshire accent, " 'E knows what comin'!"

The publican's wife had a number of views regarding divisions of labor, young women's of ambiguous reputation and their affects on men, and beagling that would likely not have sat well with your average feminist.
