The US Deep State

Doug Casey warns that 2015 is 2007 and explains that the Deep State is the primarily responsible party for the ongoing crisis as well as the next crash:
The American Deep State is a real, but informal, structure that has arisen to not just profit from, but control, the State.

The Deep State has a life of its own, like the government itself. It’s composed of top-echelon employees of a dozen Praetorian agencies, like the FBI, CIA, and NSA...top generals, admirals, and other military operatives...long-term congressmen and senators...and directors of important regulatory agencies.

But Deep State is much broader than just the government. It includes the heads of major corporations, all of whom are heavily involved in selling to the State and enabling it. That absolutely includes Silicon Valley, although those guys at least have a sense of humor, evidenced by their “Don’t Be Evil” motto. It also includes all the top people in the Fed, and the heads of all the major banks, brokers, and insurers. Add the presidents and many professors at top universities, which act as Deep State recruiting centers...all the top media figures, of course...and many regulars at things like Bohemian Grove and the Council on Foreign Relations. They epitomize the status quo, held together by power, money, and propaganda.

Altogether, I’ll guess these people number a thousand or so. You might analogize the structure of the Deep State with a huge pack of dogs. The people I’ve just described are the top dogs.

But there are hundreds of thousands more who aren’t at the nexus, but who directly depend on them, have considerable clout, and support the Deep State because it supports them. This includes many of the wealthy, especially those who got that way thanks to their State connections...the 1.5 million people who have top secret clearances (that’s a shocking, but accurate, number)... plus top players in organized crime, especially the illegal drug business, little of which would exist without the State. Plus mid-level types in the police and military, corporations, and non-governmental organizations.

These are what you might call the running dogs.

Beyond that are the scores and scores of millions who depend on things remaining the way they are. Like the 50%-plus of Americans who are net recipients of benefits from the State...the 60 million on Social Security...the 66 million on Medicaid...the 50 million on food stamps...the many millions on hundreds of other programs... the 23 million government employees and most of their families. In fact, let’s include the many millions of average Joes and Janes who are just getting by.

You might call this level of people, the vast majority of the population, whipped dogs. They both love and fear their master, they’ll do as they’re told, and they’ll roll over on their backs and wet themselves if confronted by a top dog or running dog who feels they’re out of line. These three types of dogs make up the vast majority of the U.S. population. I trust you aren’t among them. I consider myself a Lone Wolf in this context and hope you are, too. Unfortunately, however, dogs are enemies of wolves, and tend to hunt them down.

The Deep State is destructive, but it’s great for the people in it. And, like any living organism, its prime directive is: Survive! It survives by indoctrinating the fiction that it’s both good and necessary. However, it’s a parasite that promotes the ridiculous notion that everyone can live at the expense of society.
Remember, every state in history has collapsed. The US Deep State is less powerful and more parasitical than it was in 1990. If we're lucky, its collapse will look a lot like the Soviet state collapse. If we're not lucky, its collapse will be more akin to the Nazi state collapse. Most likely, it will be somewhere in between; remember it is the chaos that is more likely to kill you than the last desperate thrashings of the statist parasites attempting to retain power.

Prepare accordingly. The social mood is darkening.

But what we have in this nation today is merely the inevitable result of that which was hatched behind closed doors in Philadelphia by the "Deep State" of the Revolutionary era.
The United States of America stands today as a model of the free society where divorce, contraception, abortion, sodomy enjoy the protection of the law in the name of liberty. The truth is, the United States is now dying of its own genetic disease and, because it has metastasized, it has infected the whole world.
It’s fatal, irremediable flaw is that it is congenital. Conceived (professedly) on equality and religious liberty as the ultimate principles informing its governing of the masses, a democracy inevitably shows itself to be incapable of protecting its citizens from harm, for a system which grants equal rights to its citizens as well as the freedom to publicly display and advocate any religious or philosophical belief system (no matter how whacky and ultimately destructive to the nation) has no legal means of excluding either error or its consequences from the body politic. Just look at present-day America--the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Without intending it, democracy inevitably produces evil by its very nature. Republics necessarily self-destruct sooner or later.

Blogger W.LindsayWheeler October 10, 2015 8:46 AM

It is not about dogs vs wolves. And being a "Lone wolve" is not one thing to be proud of. We are sheep and what protects the sheep is the shepherd. Sadly, the European has gotten rid of his shepherds. Wolves kill dogs easily. And dogs only work well when they are harnessed by the shepherds. Dogs work in conjunction with shepherds who train and direct them. That is how nature really works.

France's Socialist government is concerned the incident has damaged the country's image:

The French "Socialist government" is worried about their image. Bwahahahaha why did they call the gov't socialist or is it Socialist? Isn't that like calling the US gov't republican or democratic?

I agree as well. It's a consequence of hearing "Wolf!" Cried too many times. Plus there's this:

Vox said, "If we're lucky, its collapse will look a lot like the Soviet state collapse. If we're not lucky, its collapse will be more akin to the Nazi state collapse."

But the Soviet collapse simply lead to the rise of "Russia" And Nazosm was simply replaced by Deep State equalitarianism.

The Natural Law is "All things are either in subjection or in authority". From Aristotle. It is observed everywhere. In the Family it is the father and everyone else is in subjection to the Father. In lion prides, elephant herds, in gorilla and chimpanzee groups, there is a hierarchy with a controlling elite. Even in bee hives, in the search of a new hive, it is the oldest bees, that find and select a new hive.

It is the same for humans. "Deep State" is just another term for "ruling elite". There is always a ruling elite in every human organization. Democracy truly never exists. In the vacuum of a supposed democracy, an elite forms. The Deep State of America, our ruling elite, hate the rest of America.

Michael O'Duibhir in the first comment is right on. That is what I've been trying to point out is that America has a genetic fallacy. Deep State is our ruling elite but it is hostile to the population that it governs. There is no unity in this country whatsoever.

Vox, I believe the 'in between' scenario is most likely, as well.

The US is multi-cultural, but unlike the USSR or Austria-Hungary, there are only a few relatively clear cultural boundaries, geographically. Even those that exist contain significant, potentially troublesome minority cultures.

I expect that when the 'Deep State' collapses, there will be a period, hopefully short, of unspeakable violence and destruction, until new boundaries are sorted out.

Though I think sorting these boundaries would give even Metternich a migraine.

Oh well, Deo Vindice!

The Right has been expecting/predicting collapse for so long...it never seems to happen

We have only run up a debt that when pensions ect. get included happens to be higher than the entire worlds GDP. How much longer can we do this? We have spent $27 trillion failing to make blacks equal, we could have a manned base on Mars for that much, along with extra tech.

Don't you mean more powerful? Before Snowden if you told someone that since you liked Angela Merkel on facebook the govt has been spying on you, no one would have believed it. Now we know it happened, and the Rivkin document he released shows multicult was designed to destroy culture.

Blogger Salt October 10, 2015 10:36 AM

The State - is - less powerful than it portrays itself, which makes it even more dangerous. Being a lone wolf is accurate, and, depending upon what kind of wolf one is, I would caution against climbing up on the wrong soapbox; "dogs are enemies of wolves, and tend to hunt them down."

Blogger Orville October 10, 2015 11:24 AM

Lone wolf vs. groups of fellow travelers? Which should it be? I'm suspicious of organizing into groups as these are easily infiltrated. I'd be less suspicious of it post collapse when society is reorganizing. But pre-collapse I would think that it would be too easy to ghettoize bands of like-minded folk even if they all moved to Montana or other rural communities.

Blogger rycamor October 10, 2015 11:25 AM

The state is less powerful, most likely in proportion to the increased American gun ownership. But that doesn't make it less dangerous. As the state loses power, it will begin to thrash.

Blogger kurt9 October 10, 2015 11:33 AM

Capability and parasitism are opposites.

If we're lucky, its collapse will look a lot like the Soviet state collapse. If we're not lucky, its collapse will be more akin to the Nazi state collapse.

I think its going to be more like "Snow Crash". Certain nostalgics like Lind think that we're going to have some kind of pre-technological paradise (Victoria). But he is wrong. Technology is not going away. Indeed, with 3-D Printing and bio-engineering, the collapse of the U.S. deep state will remove the shackles on technological innovation (e.g. FDA regulation of stem-cell and anti-aging therapies) and technological innovation is likely to accelerate, not slow down. The result will be a heavily "balkanized" society that is very high tech.

Making it through the collapse of the deep state will mainly be a matter of capital preservation through the transition as the U.S. Dollar goes away and an array of privatized cyber-currencies take over.

Blogger Orville October 10, 2015 11:45 AM

@22 I'm not so sure about that. A lot of this depends on access to micro-chips and some other highly specified equipment. If the factories and logistical structures, plus the economies that keep them moving are severely impaired or gone, then those few with the knowledge to build will have lost their basic supplies. History has examples of advanced knowledge lost for centuries due to societal collapse.

The hyperinflationary collapse of Weimer Germany, the collapse of Nazi Germany in 1945, and the end of the Soviet Union; none of these brought about the end of industrial civilization. Short of a major asteroid impact, industry and technology are here to stay (even a plague that kills 50-70% of the human race is unlikely to end industrial civilization). The financial collapse of the U.S. government will transform the major industrial companies (Intel, Boeing, GE) into true multi-national entities and the supply-chains will be re-established. Same for the better-run banks, although I think BofA is history (it is run by idiots).

I think some companies are already preparing for the "transition". GE recently ended its financial division (after realizing it will not receive another bail-out if it goes bad) and is focusing exclusively on industry and manufacturing activities. Same for the semiconductor fabs (and the OEM's that make the equipment they use).

The main effect of a collapse of the U.S. "deep state" will be the replacement of the U.S. dollar with a basket of privatized cyber-currencies for the purposes of business and commerce.

Think of bitcoin as being the 1st generation of such currencies. The 1st generation of any new technology always sucks (think of the first pc's). Its the 3rd generation of such stuff that actually works and is useful.

Also, I really don't think you guys realize just how much government regulation inhibits technological innovation, particularly with regards to bio-engineering and bio-medicine. Its largely due to FDA regulation that we do not have a "Moore's Law" in medicine.

Either the globalists will win -- and I read what wikileaks showed of the Intellectual Property part of the TPP and it is frightening -- and we will have trans-state corporations sponsoring states -- or we will rediscover nationalism.

I agree that the EU is the schwerpunkt, Because Merkel is pushing this issue: it will not merely be the Slovaks and Poles who rebel.

What should we do? Well, we need to go a little lower tech and get rid of just in time: use the new ability to fab things to develop cybercraftsmen, and let the technologists run rampant with pharma and drug extensions.

And, for Maine or NZ, Lind is correct. The places are agricultural with pragmatic tinkerers who will make things. I expect, socially, the gender fluid rubbish of this time to be rejected as it is not functional when you are poor.

The really high tech developers such as Japan and California better get a good navy, lest they get physically pirated, and remain developing, lest their ideas are copied.

A federal republic is a federation of states with a democratic form of government.
The United States is a federal republic.
Therefore, the United States has a democratic form of government.

That's what's important here--it's a republican democracy, and it's not working. Consider, for instance, the current onslaught of homosexual militancy relentlessly and mercilessly pressing its agenda on all Americans with the full and unwavering (and all-powerful) support of the federal republican democratic government. That's what "the idea that is America" has come to--and that in spite of the mythology which the Deep State operatives have been indoctrinating us with since we emerged from the cradle.
This is not a time to quibble. This is a time to face the unpleasant reality of the situation we find ourselves in.

Actually, the FFofA did not create a true republic. They rejected much of the Classical heritage on the republican form of government. They borrowed the structure of classical republicanism and married it to the Enlightenment values and goals such as egalitarianism and classlessness. That's the problem right there. James Dixon is right the FFofA hated democracy; what they did was create a new form of government which is part of the Novus Ordo melding a little of the old with the new.

It didn't last long. Andrew Jackson screwed it up by giving the suffrage to all men and Abraham Lincoln ended it with his War against the South. Then, what little remained of the ancient form was ended in 1913 under Woodrow Wilson. No one on this blog or elsewhere knows what a true republic is.

Most people in the US and outside of it, believed in the Deep State's propaganda about the Iraq war, since they were part of the ones sabotaging it.

It's ironic that the people who wish to fight it still accept the deception about 2005 Iraq. 90% of it was propaganda designed to manipulate the masses, and the masses bought it.

OpenID ymarsakar October 10, 2015 11:30 PM

To be more precise and accurate, there were certain reasons why people in the US were allied with Saddan Hussein even though he wasn't cooperating.

They had to sabotage the Iraq war under Bush II and later Afghanistan, because the COIN method developed and tested under Petraeus would have been too dangerous if it had been applied to US cities where the Deep State holds many assets in.

Later on, Hussein Obola came to power in 2008, which is like Benedict Arnold replacing Washington as President.

Now that the people who bought the Iraq quagmire lie in 2005, are now using Hussein Obola's successful sabotage of Afghanistan and Iraq to back the US treason party's own power base, in order to attempt to attack the US treason party's black ops in Syria.

It's more complicated than some Deep State conspiracy.

Churchill feared Nazism more than Communism for one simple reason: In his estimation, Nazism could work, whereas Communism has far too many internal contradictions to ever work (plus the problem of the Bureacrat's Conceit -- making decisions thinking he's fully informed, when in fact, it's utterly impossible for the bureacrats to have enough information to run a command economy).
