I think it's a question of influence. The Jewish people are going to be remarkably influential and a force to be reckoned with in this world. It's a Biblical mandate. Sadly, because we have turned away from the Torah and the G-d Who took us on eagle's wings out of Egypt, there are some who have wielded their influence for ill. We were supposed to use our G-d-given influence to represent Him in and to this world. Sadly, we have by and large misrepresented Him throughout most of our history. Some of this is due to blindness, some to willful disobedience and rebellion, or a combination of the two.
To say that the ones whose influence has been negative are not "real Jews" is dishonest. They are Jews, but are not behaving themselves as Jews ought to behave themselves. The negative influence of Marx and Engels is undeniable, and so is their Jewishness.
It is similar to Ahitophel in Samuel, David's most trusted counselor and adviser. The Scriptures say that the advice of Ahitophel was like like receiving counsel from the mouth of G-d. Reality check,my friend: nobody cares and nobody is going to recognize or make the distinction you're trying to make, philosophically or otherwise. A Jew behaving badly is still a Jew, and his bad behavior will, more often than not, be attributed to his Jewishness in some way. It's the world we live in.

@32 Before the onset of the massive exodus of Soviet Jewry in 1989 (well over a million left, over several years), there were about 20K Jews in West Germany. While most of the Jews went to Israel, and lesser numbers to the US and other Anglo destinations, a substantial number chose to go to Germany and the Jewish population exploded. I don't know the number today, but I think it's north of 100K. I believe a number of Israelis also reside there (oh the sad irony).

Many Israeli Jews avoided this fate because, living where they are, they cannot avoid facing reality: nationalism, strong borders, and unity of purpose are a requirement for the long term survival of a nation. As Europe has become increasingly degraded, and as demographics have shifted, some of the Jews in these places have been likewise awakened to their mortal error.
I believe that there is a serious Jewish schism coming. I have a friend who is Jewish, he is a middle American guy, tough as nails, god fearing, and patriotic. He invited me over for dinner with his family. During dinner an argument breaks out between him and his Adult son who was visiting. His son is an ultra-liberal secular Jew who works in DC politics. A lot of ground is covered in the argument but basically his son argued that Jews shouldn't believe in God, America is racist for imprisoning Black people, Israel has no right to exist, and we should embrace multiculturalism. My friend argued the opposite. It struck me that this debate is probably playing out all across the Jewish world right now. Or at least debates that are very much like it.
