What do you think of Bridgewater Vox?

Blogger Dave November 01, 2015 11:03 AM

I'm curious if anybody across the pond actually has attended a NFL game in London? Is it primarily servicemen and ex-pats?

Blogger JaimeInTexas November 01, 2015 11:10 AM

Yesterday, I introduced my wife to Rugby. Australia v. New Zealand. She loved it. She watched the whole game, even though I had to leave, to attend the 1st Ilk Meetup in the Clear Lake, Texas, and could not watch the whole game.

Blogger Cail Corishev November 01, 2015 11:34 AM

@2 Dave,

That's what a Londoner on the radio was saying. He said locals might go to a game once as a novelty, the way Americans might if a World Cup match between two other countries were being held in a nearby US city, but they don't care about it. So it's mostly ex-pats and tourists at the games, and is liable to become more so as they run out of locals who haven't tried it yet.

Blogger YIH November 01, 2015 11:55 AM

@2 Dave:
Why would I want to?
I like NFL streaming, Yahoo helped that, I've watched the last five Super Bowls on streaming video.
I'd rather watch a game on streaming video (and I'm quite aware of the problems, thank you) than even ''broadcast TV'' - which I did a few times.
The other site I like for NFL coverage is NFL.com.
Sunday, it's my goto site. Business Insider is better the rest of the week, but on Sunday, it's NFL.com
Yes, I know it's Disney, so what?
The NFL really needs to stop ''pepto-bismol'' month.
I'm aware of breast cancer!, now knock it off!

Anonymous WillBest November 01, 2015 12:43 PM

BI is owned by some German publishing company. NFL.com is owned by the NFL. Disney owns ESPN.

Pinktober isn't about breast cancer. Its about having an excuse to slap the color pink on their product to sell it to women. Something every toy company figured out a couple decades ago.

My fantasy team is such that I need a high scoring game where Diggs and Jeffery get lots of yards TD, Walsh kicks a bunch of long FG, and then the Bears win.

Wish today could have been yesterday, great fall football weather in Chicago today. Halloween was a wet cold mess. Had half the visitors we would normally get and so now I am going to get fat on Crunch, Kit Kat, and Butterfinger bars.

I support breast awareness

Steelers in the Red Zone right now, hoping they can put up 6 or 8 before the Bengals get the ball.

Before I posted this they scored the TD.

I'm watching a game on Yahoo!.com.
Wahhh, but the live studio crapola coverage...
So what? So Yahoo ''cuts the screen down'' NFL.com/Disney does that too.
Guess what? The internet was not designed for video. That it's working, is a feature, not a bug

Blogger Dave November 01, 2015 1:25 PM

Jaime the alzheimers kickin' in again?

Blogger Dave November 01, 2015 1:30 PM

So YIH you are across the pond? you are that much of a fan you will stream the game but not attend one of the four games this year in London? Is that what you're trying to tell me?

Blogger YIH November 01, 2015 1:36 PM

BI is owned by some German publishing company.
I'm aware of that. IIRC Jeff Bezos still owns more than 50%. Correct me if I'm wrong,
And even if it's a small window. Yahoo is still doing well with streaming video.
The female CEO should be paying me, so after today...

Blogger JaimeInTexas November 01, 2015 1:37 PM

You have no idea, nor do I

Blogger YIH November 01, 2015 1:57 PM

It's halftime, so there is bullshit. That's the way it always has been. Blah, blah, blah!
I just want cheerleaders.
If they want my attention, give me hot cheerleaders with the ads,
It works for Hooters!

Blogger Dave November 01, 2015 2:16 PM

Steelers get Big Ben back but Bell goes bye-bye? Drees picking apart the G-men's secondary like the swiss cheese it is. Gurley got another 100 yd game by the 2nd qtr, don't look now but Rams gonna be in the hunt for a wildcard.

Blogger Dave November 01, 2015 2:19 PM

Bridgewater coughs it up and Cutler makes them pay.

Blogger Dave November 01, 2015 2:53 PM

Ok ok Saints secondary is swiss cheese too

Blogger YIH November 01, 2015 3:31 PM

Halfway through the 4Q and the Vikes and the Bears are tied?

Blogger Josh November 01, 2015 3:50 PM

The Titans are not what is best in life

Blogger YIH November 01, 2015 3:52 PM

They're tied with a lousy Teddy Bears team.

Blogger Dave November 01, 2015 3:58 PM

AD almost busted it open but kicker will have to pull it off after fantastic catch by Johnson. Saints and G-men tied at 42 with over 9 mins. to go!

Anonymous G.Veil November 01, 2015 4:10 PM

Bridgewater wasn't overly impressive, but he made plays when he had too and as a young quarterback that's encouraging. Diggs is turning out to be something special and he and Johnson could be a pretty darn good tandem going forward.

The Giants and Saints offenses are each trying to top the other for embarrassing these defenses.

Two straight ugly interceptions by Roethlisberger have all but gift wrapped this game for Cincinnati.

Blogger YIH November 01, 2015 5:17 PM

Well Vox, at least they won.

Blogger Retrenched November 01, 2015 5:23 PM

Pearson was innocent!

...

Ok, got my yearly trolling out of the way. Probably the only fun I'm gonna have as a Cowboys fan this season. *shrugs*

VFM #424 here-- my Bengals finally won a tough game. I was despairing in the 2nd half, but they came through!! down with the Squealers, and Puck Fittsburgh!!!

Blogger JaimeInTexas November 01, 2015 7:00 PM

Texans to win division.... bwahahahaha

Blogger YIH November 01, 2015 8:33 PM

@29 JamieInTexas:
By winning the Irony Bowl (and the Colts still having problems with deflated footballs) it is possible.

Blogger YIH November 01, 2015 8:53 PM

Now we get to see which team is for real.

Blogger Daniel November 01, 2015 9:02 PM

Thanks, Bears...and anyone who blames Cutler for this one wasn't watching.

Blogger Desiderius November 01, 2015 10:03 PM

"Two straight ugly interceptions by Roethlisberger have all but gift wrapped this game for Cincinnati."

That first one was a thing of beauty - hell of a catch, and very clutch.

"my Bengals finally won a tough game"

They've been winning the tough ones for a while, it's the games where they look like they've never played a game in their lives and get blown out that have been the problem. None so far this year - D saved them in this one.

Blogger Blume November 01, 2015 10:35 PM

When is the second, at least 3 of us missed out on that.

rusty.fife initiated a conversation with me and it culminated with us meeting at Don Oscar's, at El Camino Real and Nasa Rd. 1, for a cigar and bourbon, 1836 Texas bourbon that is. Dona Norma rolls all the cigars at the shop and recommended a very mild cigar for me and she pegged it perfectly. My first cigars in about 7 or 8 years. I enjoyed the visit greatly and I think that rusty did too.
