Castalia site down

I heard from the technical gentlemen. It's no big deal, just some ISP-related stuff. It should be back up on Friday, Saturday at the latest.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

I bet downtime is Markku's trigger.

Can I start the spiral into conspiracy theories or should I wait?

Happened on a Wednesday, too. I blame Big Wargames, always trying to silence the little guys.

VD: The first sentence of my latest political thriller reads, "Who knew that America's dramatic turn-a-round would occur in Cleveland on the third ballot when out of the dimly lit hallway a shadowy figure shouted Bob Dole."

I sense the first sentence to have the magnitude of Merton's 'Seven Story Mountain' or Dostoevsky's 'Notes from the Underground'.

I await your comments or advancement.

More hated than the left because they provide an actual alternative, an actual opposition, an actual philosophical difference.

"ISP problems."

I once tripped on a network cable and temporary brought down 3 manufacturing plants across the country.

It was a DEC Alpha server and it was actually just sitting on the floor and not racked. The network cable in question lay right across the access to get to the back of the stuff that was racked.

Expecting to be in a bit of hot water, the IT Director, realizing that the server shouldn't have been there said, "Let's just keep this between you and I."

I think we must work at the same company. We get emails along the lines of "The server will be down from 6 PM to 2 AM while the floor is being mopped."

If it takes longer than a day, it's a problem with DNS propagation.

If your service provider surprised you with IP changes that affected DNS, you have a terrible SP.

If they didn't surprise you, you are terrible at provisioning.

whois indicates recent (30-mar-2016) DNS changes, so I'm leaning towards a bad SP. It's also possible Markku borked a DNS change.

Guys, you can pay for granular DNS resolution. It doesn't actually cost that much. would cost you $15/year.

It may require a game designer to design a 9-point scale to set up DNS records.

Nine points on a single axis is far to complex to design on your own.

That's why you require a designer.
