Semi-super Saturday results

This is an open thread to discuss the results of the Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Maine primaries. Decision Desk has the live results.

Looks like a split. Cruz takes Maine and Kansas, Trump takes Kentucky and Louisiana. Rubio didn't even make it to Florida.

One would think the GOPe would learn something from the repeated failure of their anointed ones. After Bush, Dole, Bush, Mcain, and Romney, they don't have much in the way of either support or respect any longer.

Kansas is a caucus like Iowa. Caucus is the definitive establishment game: looks like a grassroots thing, operates like a machine.

My predictions from this morning:
Clinton will do at least as well in Louisiana as she did in South Carolina. Bernie really dropped the ball down here and I don't know why he didn't try harder in states which, as others here have noted, have nearly Central American levels of poverty.

There's hope for Bernie in the corn states, but then these are caucuses we're talking about so who knows. Fuck Caucuses.

Trump is going to sweep Louisiana. They like him almost as much as Alabama does.

He'll do well in Kentucky; it's hard to Iowa away a lead as huge as the one he has. He's leading in Kansas and Maine but not overwhelmingly, so those could slip away from him. FUCK CAUCUSES!!!

Anonymous Dave March 05, 2016 5:46 PM

I'll take the over. Same as the percent Matt wins in Kansas. I mean Cruz wins in Kansas.

Blogger Ezekiel March 05, 2016 5:47 PM

Caucuses are shady and undemocratic. I could understand them being common in places like Mexico or Iran but they have no place in America. Caucuses are an abomination and state parties that run them should have their offices sacked.

Also, I am never going to forgive the Randroid for helping spread this faggotry to the South. Won't be long before all of us have to put up with it.

Rubio could drop to single digits in Maine. Cruz is it.

Anonymous johnc March 05, 2016 5:49 PM

Not a fan of Cruz and he'll get slaughtered by Hillary in the general election, but his current position on immigration appears to be the toughest of all the candidates, including Trump, and it is the most important issue.

I probably won't vote for him, but he is better than Rubio.

Anonymous Conker March 05, 2016 5:49 PM

Louisiana is the only primary today where Trump is predicted to win easily. He's also predicted to win in Kentucky but that's a caucus. With Maine 5% Cruz is ahead and without any polling having been done I don't know who will win, but it looks like all the Canadians have turned out heavily for their fellow countryman.

To be fair to the good people of Kansas they only gave a fourth of their votes to establishment shills Rubio and Kasich, so at least they did that right, unlike those repressed white guilt-ridden German and Scandinavian cucks in Minnedishu (no offense intended to our host, of course).

This also explains why Carson dropped out. The plan has never changed since Trump entered the race. The plan, of course, is Stop Trump! Nothing else matters to the GOPe.

Vox is right of course; they are shortsighted idiots and if they do stop Trump whatever comes next will seem incredible.

That the caucuses are probably rigged doesn't really matter. That's the game, and Trump needs to play.

If Cruz were to win the nomination, I think he would in large part owe it all to Trump. First, the establishment that hates Cruz is now having to accept him as the alternative to Trump. Second, if Trump had never run, Cruz would have been on the receiving end of months of negative campaigning and would probably be out of it. But most of the negativity has been directed at Trump, allowing Cruz to 'cruise' along to this point.

My take is that if Trump wanted to win in caucuses, he would have put a better operation in place. With a lot of resistance from the GOPe apparatus. Maybe he did not feel it worth his while.
Obama built his whole strategy on caucus states in 2008, and it dumbfounded Clinton. Trump does much better than Obama in primary states, so I think he just chose a different strategy.

That said, Cruz is a globalist all the way. My guess is his contribution will be ushering in the VAT (which they'll tell you isn't a VAT) and completing the 3rd World invasion (which they'll tell you he is working to stop) among other goodies. I think a lot of people make the mistake of assuming that Hillary Clinton is this invincible colossus. Personally, I think she goes down to Trump, Cruz, or Rubio HARD. Think 2008, except the good guys win.

First, she's way past her political sell-by date. Historically, a candidate has 12 years after reaching national prominence to reach the Oval Office. Otherwise, they lose. Clinton is more than a decade past the limit. Second, she's heir to the Obama legacy of failure. Third, it is extremely rare for a two-term President to be succeed by a President of his own party. Bush 41 did it...the first in a century. Finally, she either gets indicted, or the FBI reports will be leaked. And those will be damning.

I'm just going based on their current positions. Currently, Cruz is the strongest on immigration.

Trump is very cucky (I won't say cuckservative because there's not much conservative there).

His campaign position is for touchback amnesty; which, if you'll recall, conservatives had a shit fit over when it was first proposed so many years ago. Yes... all those Messicans you see cutting lawns out there will be made legal workers because, as Trump said it, we need them "to do the jobs Americans don't want to do".

In terms of foreign workers. Trump prefers to employ foreigners at his resorts instead of the Americans who applied to those jobs. And he loves worker visas. You can't get any more cucky than pushing American workers to the curb and using foreigners to, as he explained it, "come in, do the work, and then go back". And meanwhile the rest of us have to pay for the welfare and food stamps of the Americans who are unemployed.

How about trade policy? He's criticized Carrier for moving manufacturing to Mexico. Yet the manufactured goods that Trump sells are made in China. How does that help us, folks? Why not make his suits and ties in any one of the existing textile factories in America, which have been so devastated in recent years, and put some Americans to work for a change?

The guy is all talk, no action. When it comes to immigration, Trump is a major cuck.

I don't know that Cruz is genuine, but at least he currently holds the right positions, and at least should be supported because of it.

I don't know why people can't tell that Cruz is a psychopath. I've gotten good at spotting them over the years, starting with Clinton. Then Gingrich, Hillary, Cheney, Rove, and now Rubio too. But Cruz is a great friend of Israel too, which is bad for the U.S. Anyone who can take over the media, the money, the politics, and the academy rules you. That would be the jews. Trump has said he backs Israel 1000% or whatever, but this is 3 dimensional chess, remember. It's what he implies but does NOT say that is telling. For example, he says he will revisit libel laws. Whoa! This has been a jewish power point over us goyim ever since Bernays. Trump is not the ideal candidate, but it seems like he's willing to take on these jews.

Just comparing the latest polls to the results so far:

Kansas had one poll, Trump was 35% while Cruz was 29% and Rubio was 17%. Trump and Cruz ridiculously flipped while Marco stayed the same. Being conspiratorially minded, I'm going to call shenanigans but I can also chalk it up to the scum Jayhawkers in the state.

Kentucky had Trump 35, Rubio 22, and Cruz 17. With 16% in: Trump has 40, Cruz is up with 33 while Rubio has dropped to 14%.

There were no polls for Maine while Louisiana has Trump up by +20% in front of Cruz while Rubio has been polling in the mid-teens.

So far, Rubio's support seems to be dropping but that doesn't necessarily translate into a win for the "anti-Trump" vote (represented by the Canadian). If Maine keeps going at its current trajectory that will be the only real surprise of the night but its still way too early to call.

He is big-time for the browning of America. Listen to everything he is saying and doing.

Anonymous 5954 March 05, 2016 8:16 PM

Kansas and Maine results are due to them being closed caucuses, so only registered repubs can vote, which means nearly none of the independents and crossovers that Trump is being into play. As such, total vote numbers are small, existing structures (= GOPe) are over-represented, and there is little correlation with general election results.

Trump is forced to do so to compete because our traitorous government refuses to FIGHT BACK in a trade war the BRICS nations have been waging against us for 30 years.

He is not forced to do anything. People manufacture in the US and sell goods at a profit. He could too, if he wanted to. Especially since he's such a great deal maker.

Nor was he forced to kick 300 American job applicants to the curb and bring in hundreds of foreign workers on H-2B visas.

These are just the facts I'm talking about here. All that boisterous rhetoric is great, but when you get down to brass tacks, the substance isn't there. I think it's smart to face the reality head-on.

Anonymous Who Dat March 05, 2016 8:24 PM

Louisiana switched over to a closed primary at the end of Jan only giving Independents and 3rd party types a week to switch to Repub or Dem if they wanted to vote today. Looks like the GOPe was too late closing that door as many registered Repubs in LA are still favoring Trump

LEGALIZE PROSTITUTION NOW!

It's time to end the war on personal freedom. Prohibition never works, as the past has proven time and time again. And the demand for prostitution will never go away, hence it is the world's oldest profession. It's high time to LEGALIZE IT, both for the sake of the women who engage in prostitution and the men who buy it.

Contrary to false beliefs, the vast majority of women who engage in prostitution do so voluntarily. Therefore why should they not be allowed to legally trade sex for money? Also, legalizing prostitution would eliminate human trafficking since the very small percentage of women who are forced into prostitution would be able to go to the police for help. It would also eliminate the need for dangerous pimps.

What about STDs? Actually you are far more likely to get an STD with a regular girl since people tend to use condoms less with regular women. With prostitutes, condoms are a necessity and therefore the risk of STDs is zero. The whole STD scare has been blown way out of proportion in order to make people afraid of sex.

Studies also prove that when prostitution is legal, the number of rapes dwindles to practically zero. By keeping prostitution illegal, we are actually causing more women to be raped.

But the core issue is that we have NO RIGHT to tell two consenting adults that they cannot trade sex for money. It's time to legalize prostitution!

We seem to have crossed into the bizarre world where you can be criticized for your presidential actions before actually being elected to the office.

I didn't criticize him for "presidential actions". I'm simply facing the reality that he is pro-immigration in many big ways. He chooses what workers he has in his businesses. He preferred foreigners where he was legally permitted to do so. What, he's above that criticism? He's talking all about taking care of Americans and creating jobs blah blah and we're thinking he's a nationalist. 300 Americans applied. He hired 17. Then he hired hundreds from Romania to fill the remaining positions. Does that sound like a nationalist?

Vilifying people for actions they're economically forced to take? What are you, a Democrat? Oh, right, cuckservatives are no different from democrats.

Trump's entire campaign is vilifying companies for moving offshore. Carrier -- "we're not going to buy from Carrier anymore", Ford, Nabisco -- "we're not going to eat Oreos anymore".

We're going to put a 35% tax on Carrier air conditioners coming in from Mexico. Why doesn't Trump pay a 35% tax on his suits and ties from China? Or maybe just have them manufactured in America for 25% more?

He supports touchback amnesty. I think I would rather have them stay "in the shadows" myself.

Is there a reason why Trump's public positions that he has taken in this campaign are off the table for consideration?

Somehow it makes me a cuckservative by simply pointing out Trump's public positions of wanting to bring in foreigners to do American jobs in American cities.

Lubio didn't break threshold in Louisiana. No delegates for him.

So the funny money of Cruzman-Sachs buys Kansas and Maine. Must be a lot of cucks cuckin' away in those yanqui domains, glugging the Ministry of Truth grape-drank.

OpenID sigbouncer March 05, 2016 10:09 PM

Remember this.

All the old Reagan guys, outside of Kasich, whom Stone fired for selling pot. Are with Trump.

The other side is the Bush establishment. And we all know Cruz has worked for the Bush team before. Sharpening his political chops with them in the beginning. Meeting his future wife via them.

Cruz's actually has a record SigBouncer. And his record is badass. He is basically Rand Paul... except he likes bombing brown people more.

He has had tons of chances to stab conservatives in the back for the chance to make friends and benefit himself and he's never once done it. All he's ever done is hold to two birds to the assholes like Romney and Paul Ryan.

Everyone remembers Lawerence. No one bothers to remember the mass murders the jayhawkers performed that lead to it.

For the younger readers who haven't seen it, the Outlaw Josey Wales is a great movie about this issue.

"Cruz's actually has a record SigBouncer"

That's one of my big problems with him Nate. And where we disagree mightily.

For my money Cruz only relevant record is as GW Bush domestic policy maker. Cruz was GW's immigration guy. The same immigration policy that saw 10.5 million immigrants come into our country. Whilst they could only create 1/3 of the jobs, compared to the amount of immigrants allowed in our country. This means the Bush-Cruz team basically created 8 million new welfare cases out of thin air.

And as a bonus with Cruz we get his wife who worked our horrendous trade policy with China.

As for Cruz record in the Senate. It's all mouthboxing. What has Cruz really accomplished other than missing Rand's audit the fed vote?

That's the cuck strategy. Write the bill, shove it through, and once you have enough votes, you can vote against it, so you can claim to the rubes in Goat Balls TX that you stood up for them, but were "betrayed by the GOP"

Blogger Raggededge March 05, 2016 10:22 PM

As a Trump supporter, this has been a bad night for the Trumpster. Louisiana is down to a 3.5% lead, no way a blow out. In all likelihood Cruz got like 60% of the vote that was cast today, meaning people are moving away in droves from Trump.

Until tonight, Texas was the only state where Cruz had a delegate majority. Looks like he picked up two more in Kansas and Maine.

Five more to go for Cruz to be presented as a candidate at the convention, but that's actually doing pretty well with the winner-take-all states still ten days away. I was seriously not expecting anyone to pull that off tonight with the particular rules in those four states, but I was also expecting the vote to be split more. Rubio underperformed my expectations.

Trump could still be Perot version 2016 put up by the overlords, and his favorite person is unquestionably Donald. Still he's hated by all the right people - not unlike Putin in that respect. As for Cruzman-Sachs, it was on the committee for the Security and Prosperity Partnership. It's at least a more entertaining show than Mittens the Underwear Bankster vs. Mocha Messiah.

You should read it. They present a very credible Cruz timeline backed with multiple links and youtube videos of Cruz.

The fact that you would dismiss something before reading it to make an assessment shows your lack of judgement. And why you're a Cruz supporter.

the state legislature has overridden the governor's veto, and WV has joined the ranks of the no permit required concealed carry club.

About time, too. Next fight certain to be over reciprocity. Lots of ways for the po-lice, administrators, judges etc. to footdrag. Lege needs to make it clear that failure to actively seek reciprocity is a real good way to get a budget cut to zero.

No, it means that Trump underperforms expectations in closed contests -- especially closed caucuses -- where the independents and Reagan Democrats can't vote for him. Which we learned at the very beginning, with Iowa.

The anti-establishment candidate doesn't do as well in contests with more establishment control. Entirely postdictable.
