The real championship

This has easily been the most entertaining Euro since I've lived in Europe. But as fun as it was to see Wales make their historic run that finally came to a sudden end in two minutes of brilliance by Portugal, it was hard to imagine either team being able to beat the winner of France vs Germany.

The French team is basically a talented African team with a pair of French attackers, plus the most dangerous shooter from outside the box, Payet. They're very good, but even during the group stage I felt that neither of the highly disciplined major teams, Germany or Italy, would not have much problem with them when they got careless and broke down.

Germany, on the other hand, is still the team that destroyed Brazil, although their inability to score against Italy showed that they miss Miroslav Klose and their three penalty failures demonstrate that they are not the clinical Germans of the Klinsman and Bierhof eras. They also have the best keeper in the world, Neuer, which tends to be an advantage.

I expect whoever wins to win the Euro. And I tend to expect it will be Germany.

``...a talented African team...``. Is that above or below the shara desert?

Common joke here: "If French defense will survive 90 minutes, they will beat their record from WWII"

But, alas! 1:0. I had not expected that, even though German team definetely had weaker than usual performance before.

Soccer. [SIGHS IN EXASPERATION]. It's like watching paint dry. Fair enough, people say the same things about baseball and chess, but they're wrong on those scores (long explanation omitted, for mercy's sake). But I will admit that, like basketball (every bit as boring), the sheer athleticism of soccer is really quite impressive. Basketball has its interesting balletic qualities, and really good soccer players are some first class hard-ass mofos. You go, girls.

Just for the benefit of Josh, Clint, Jay, Bobby and Juann.

Soccer > Handegg.

Blogger Lazarus July 07, 2016 4:00 PM

What's with the German defenders crazy arms in the box? Boateng did the same in the Italy game.

Meanwhile, Muller can't seem to kick the ball properly. Its like he has the foot-eye co-ordination of a concussion victim.

But don't worry, the ball is fine.

...and then, if we can finally manage to develop conceptual thought and an industrial infrastructure, everything else will be gravy. Now where dem white wimmenz at?

Naturally, as an Englishman, I'm obligated to oppose the French on general principles.

However, this has been a bloody good show from them.

As always, I'm partial to nimble footed wingbacks/wingers and I must say that I was highly impressed by Griezmann.

Pogba's overconfidence was irritating up until he redeemed himself with the set up for Griezmann's 2nd goal.

Of course he wouldn't have been able to pull off that little piece of footwork had it been Boateng he faced, rather than Boateng's replacement.

I'm sure ol Boateng and Schweinstager are beating themselves up over this loss, the former for being injured and the latter for the utterly stupid handball that gave the French a penalty.

Black French players have always been impressive. Just off the top of my head: Viera, Thuram, Henry etc

I look forward to the finals, safe in the knowledge that Ronaldo is not as effective in Portugal as he is in his national team.

Vive La France!

Replace 'national team' with 'Real Madrid'

Je suis désolé

Germany was, I would say, overall the better team, but this time not that much better. Not good enough, it turned out. At some point, they seemed to settle for an honourable loss, grimacing at lost chances, rather than catching up. And that was the end. Congrats, France! What a night for Griezmann.

Anonymous Anonymous July 07, 2016 5:46 PM

Vive la France? There are nearly no Frenchmen on the team! Passports, aside, of course.

The Welsh were cracking and I'm sorry they went out - it was always the longest of long shots but I was hoping they'd pull off a Greece 2004 style shock. They were everything England were not in this tournament.

Not bad for a tiny country whose most popular sport is rugby.

as i've been pointing out, if anybody gave a fuck about police excesses AND they believe in White Privilege
the news media would be playing up all the times when pigs murder unarmed white people. some of the victims women.

which never makes national news. ie - the national news media is CONCEALING actions of police murder / abuse of whites.

therefore, they've been trying to induce this on the part of the nigger mobs.

if you've got a large enough clip for suppressing fire, you just charge the corner they're using for cover, firing at the corner as you close.

swing around the corner in an arc, sheltering behind your own covering fire. as soon as the target is in sight ...

I'm hoping the cops and their civilian volunteers start shooting back.

Take out the BLM movement.

Blogger Sherwood family July 08, 2016 3:37 AM

If...and I don't know that this is the case because there are all kinds of motives I could see for shooters here...but if it is BLM folks then it is hard to see how this does not serve as opening shots in an explicit racial conflict unlike the implicit one that has been going on up till now.

Anonymous Ellipsis Lacuna July 08, 2016 3:54 AM

Tomorrow's going to be interesting.

1. What will Obamauron have to say. (Blame it on guns? White people?)

2. What will Trump have to say. (Could make or break his election)

3. Race of snipers? Anyone else involved they haven't caught yet? How'd they coordinate so quickly, since the protest was apparently only set up a day ago (after the Baton Rouge and St. Paul shootings)?

4. There have been other BLM and anti-cop rallies planned already. How will this affect security there?

Blogger AdognamedOp July 08, 2016 4:25 AM

Seems Americas vibrant sect is as capable of doing the heavy lifting as Frances national teams sect.
