Another category bestseller

Congratulations to Fenris Wulf, whose Loki's Child is now, thanks to you all, the #1 bestseller in the Dark Humor category and is rapidly closing in on Kurt Vonnegut in Satire.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #1,488 Paid in Kindle Store
#1 in Books > Literature & Fiction > Humor & Satire > Dark Humor
#2 in Books > Literature & Fiction > Genre Fiction > Satire

Read the reviews. If you liked Owen Stanley's brilliant The Missionaries, the chances are pretty good you'll like this one too. The main difference is that where The Missionaries was a stiletto silently slipped in to the strains of Vivaldi, Loki's Child is a sledgehammer, and the sound of skulls being smashed is drowned out by Metallica.

Or, you know, Babymetal.

Ok, just bought it. I sure hope it's as good as The Missionaries. This makes the 15th book I have now bought through links here.

Blogger VD August 19, 2016 8:07 PM

Honestly, I would not say it is quite as good from a pure literary perspective. The humor is different, more in your face, and more American. But I think it is very nearly as funny, and in some ways, strange as it may sound, it is a more intellectually serious novel.

Stanley stands back and is wryly amused. Wulf is about ready to throttle someone, and rightly so.

Babymetal. Wow. Thanks for the intro.

Blogger Were-Puppy August 19, 2016 9:47 PM

Now we have Baby Metal. When I read Lokis Child, I thought maybe he was poking fun at the Runaways. They were more late 70's early 80's, but I remember a movie being made at some point. Who knows if that had anything to do with it at all ?

One of the concepts in Loki's Child is that they will take a band, make it a clone, spit out an album, rinse and repeat.

There was a great song about that by the Galactic Cowboys - Tomorrow -

"You move 'em in and move 'em out like they were cattle
Burn a brand into their hide
With all apologies to L.A. and Seattle
Cloning is Artistic suicide"

A jeweler for the SJW list.

"Forget the classless, inappropriate and tacky aspect for a moment. This is a stunning lack of customer privacy for any professional business entity. Typical liberalism on display.

(Via Daily Mail) After the 34-year-old [Ivanka Trump] ordered an $84 gold Helix Ear Cuff from Lady Grey Jewelry‘s website, the brand’s co-founders and designers, Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader, took to the company’s Instagram page on Tuesday to share a photo of the handwritten note they sent to Ivanka."

compare that to
"This Christian jeweler agreed to custom-make engagement rings for a lesbian couple, knowing that they were a couple, and treated them politely. But when they found out what he really believed about same-sex marriage, even though the man gave them polite service, and agreed to sell them what they asked for, the lesbian couple balked, and demanded their money back — and the mob threatened the business if they didn’t yield. Which, of course, he did."

Entirely on topic:

I see your Baby Metal, and raise you:

Good Mornin little Schoolgirl

oooh, ooh, oooh, ooh.

Sorry, forgot an "oooh"

Babymetal at Download festival in England.

To think, I was skeptical when they said Brexit would make anime real.

Just needed to test my new Note 7's browser. I was having some weird issues with Brave. It was almost like it (or I) had been targeted. We'll see.

I'm all for comedic science fiction and fantasy. We need more of it.

To get a feel for the style, note the following passages found in the first chapter:

This morning, I met with Sir Robert Bastarde, the President of Kasugi Records. Bastarde isn’t a British subject, but a doddering royal did clunk him on the head with a sword for organizing a benefit concert to feed starving children in Africa. To hungry lions. Those poor lions never get enough to eat.

...That’s Velma Stone.” My eyes widened. “The feminist attorney? The one who filed that equal accommodation lawsuit and made it illegal for men to pee standing up? That Velma Stone?” “Yeah,” Bastarde said, looking ill.

And, over in the vigorous new growth area, Castalia House and authors therein, keep hiking to the bank with smiles on their faces.

Tell us again how the gatekeepers are only in it for the shekels.

The gatekeepers are following the Chimp method -
Keep pressing the red button expecting a banana.

They can't change their ways, except to double down.

Remember, this is all a fiendish SJW plot to make VD super wealthy so he spends all his time counting money, instead of kicking their asses !

Hi Vox:
Please consider posting excerpts from new releases as blog posts. It's one thing to be told about a book, it's another thing to experience the prose firsthand. Some commenter posted a small excerpt from The Missionaries somewhere on here yesterday and the minute I read it I went, "Why haven't I seen an excerpt of this before? I can't WAIT to read this book."

And don't tell me to nip over to Amazon and read the free thingie. I often don't want to leave this site, and descriptions of fiction don't move me. But the excerpt? It was lit dynamite.

Blogger Anonymous-9 August 20, 2016 1:51 PM

It was # 11 who posted the prose: Dave

I think this is a good idea.

The idea that this is even possible reveals much about the stupidity of SJW's. Because counting money in this Brave New World takes 30 seconds, tops. "Oh yes, Bank of Evil. This is the Supreme Dark Lord. How many zero's have been added since I last called? All of them? Thank you, I'll call again in a week, and there had better be more zeros when I do."

Blogger Dave August 20, 2016 2:48 PM

Here's another passage from Ch. 4:

Every profession has its Gromko, an elaborate inside joke used to prank outsiders. Electrical engineers have the Turbo-Encabulator, biochemists have Resublimated Thiotimoline, computer programmers have Intercal, economists have Keynesianism, Boy Scouts have the Left-Handed Smoke Bender, and so on.

oh boy >economists have Keynesianism<

Another good one. Thanks.

Bank of Evil

"Sorry sir, you'll have to be more specific."

Blogger Anonymous-9 August 20, 2016 7:54 PM

Glad to be of some small help, VD.

Blogger Anonymous-9 August 20, 2016 7:57 PM

PS: Put Dave in charge of suggesting excerpts. I can be fresh eyes for his work before the choice gets submitted to an editor. Dave, do you say yes if VD says yes?

Blogger Thucydides August 20, 2016 9:57 PM

Sometimes I think Babymetal should be a subject all of its own. Then I wonder how Babymetal could be incorporated into other topics of the blog.

Curse you Vox! you have unleashed another deamon to consume people's time and energy through sheer awesomeness!

Aaaarrgh.... feeling my resistance waning...

That "Buy with 1-Click" is just right there...

But what would my wife think if this showed up in my Kindle account?

The struggle is real.
