Trump wins Florida requested ballots

Trump takes at least 43.2 percent of the ballots requested for Florida early voting to Hillary's 37.3 percent. This election IS NOT GOING TO BE CLOSE. It's going to be a Trumpslide, as predicted. Republicans had never previously requested more early ballots in Florida than Democrats.
In 2012, Democrats dominated early voting in Florida. In 2016, that domination has been reversed, as Donald Trump is now poised to carry the critical battleground state. Check out the numbers below, and remember, Trump also dominates the share of Independent votes as well, meaning he likely already has a 200,00+ vote lead over Hillary in Florida.
The key statistic isn't the increase in Republicans requests from 40 percent to 43.2 percent, but rather, the massive decline in Democrats from 43 percent to 37.3 percent. While there is genuine enthusiasm for Trump, what will turn a victory into a Trumpslide is the fact that Democrats have no enthusiasm for Hillary whatsoever.

Just got a call here in Florida from a democrat to remind us to vote. I wish them a quick and tremendous loss.

Democrats are running many commercials here throughout the day. I have yet to see a Trump commercial. I am not sure about this strategy. I live in Northwest Florida which is overwhelmingly republican, so the commercial here are relatively ineffective in these parts. Still, the commercials featuring Republicans castigating Trump is a good Democratic strategy for the typical low information voter.

@2 The Dem rhetoric is on death ground. Clinton gives them no substance of the truth. Obama's rhetoric - that the post-political dream is a lovely thing - had the advantage of playing off of a truth. 2008 was undefeatable rhetoric - "Change" was literally something necessary, even if you thought his version was the worst possible sort of change. You still couldn't argue - rhetorically - in defense of Same. Which is what Bailout McCain literally did.

In 2012, both candidates absolutely shat themselves in defense of bad rhetoric, so the one with Magical Underwear was the one who looked worse, because at least Obama never claimed he had a plan against crapping one out in public. Obama's rhetoric won by the margin of that slim truth.

In 2016, Trump has the rhetorical ownership of the truth: that immigrants are bad, the wall must be built, the system is corrupt beyond repair, and a fight is in store. That's low-info voter rhetoric. The Democrats attacks on Trump: "Let's fleece fleeing corporations that we can't keep from leaving", "Even flip-floppy, craven Republicans are on our side", and "Let's do the first thing for a second time" are downright baffling to low-info voters.

This is what Aristotle refers to when he writes:

"[I]t would be strange if an inability to defend oneself by means of the body is shameful, while there is no shame in an inability to use speech as the latter is more characteristic of humans than is use of the body...[I]f it is argued that great harm can be done by unjustly using such power of words, this objection applies to all good things...most of all the most useful things, like strength, health, wealth and military strategy."

"[T]rue and better (underlying facts) are by nature always...more persuasive."

WTF are they counting and announcing votes before election day? In what way is this fair? When did they start doing this in FL?

Anonymous Avalanche September 26, 2016 1:33 PM

Slightly off-topic, or maybe not.

Had a go-round with my sister (whose husband was out working to elect Bernie till he quit -- hopeless libs, alas!). They have an 18-yr-old son. I sent this:
==============
Before you guys vote for Hillary, realize that your son is absolutely 'of an age' to be drafted for that insane hag's war against Russia.

And lest you say, "oh, there is no draft"; no, not at the moment, know that the plans and system have long been drawn up AND they are scraping the bottom (and then some!) of the "volunteer" barrel. Absolutely, if WarMonger HiLIARy gets in, we'll be drafting all the young kids -- boys AND girls!! -- to go fight for israel!

And before you say about [your son]:
"Type 1 diabetes, not draftable"; let me just suggest: Type 1 diabetes, not DEPLOYABLE!

One of my biggest gripes with having women in the military (nearly 30 years ago!), was that be letting all these damned preggo women fill shore billets at my tug division (where they were NOT usable AS sailors because: preggo!); having them filling those (limited, non-deployed, shore) billets meant the MALE sailors could not get them, could not come ashore, had to stay at sea... Type 1 diabetics will be entirely useful in shore (or homeland) billets!

Just a consideration ("the personal is political"), before deciding which candidate you want to do damage to what's left of this country.

Oh, and p.s., no running to Canada -- Canada has changed it laws, they WILL hand runners back to the U.S. military... Got any other countries in mind?

@9 Jeffrey Quick
No, this is a count of how many ballots were requested by party affiliation. It has no information about whom they voted for. But it's safe to assume that if there are considerably more early ballots requested by Republicans, then there will be considerably more early ballots that will end up being for Trump.

OpenID basementhomebrewer September 26, 2016 1:36 PM

Jeffrey Quick wrote:WTF are they counting and announcing votes before election day? In what way is this fair? When did they start doing this in FL?

It's only a tally by party affiliation of absentee ballot requests. Logic dictates that the results from those ballots should be pretty close.

Democrats have no enthusiasm for Hillary whatsoever

They've always announced early voting ballot requests. It is just that normally, the media thinks it is dirty pool to mention it when the Right has more requests than the Left, but big news when the Left has more requests than the Right.

Wish I could get a suggestion to Trump about making that point against the WarMonger -- how many millennials are NOT thinking of that!? How many think they're safe. How many Americans do NOT know that the govt CAN forcibly draft medical personnel? That was put in place... oh some good number of years ago! If "they" need medical personnel, and not enough volunteer, "they" can go DRAFT what they need!

Just one more reason to avoid the WarMonger!!

Valid statements? No. Because those numbers are Vote-by-Mail Provided (Not Yet Returned)... as of today only 58 ballots have been returned. (18 Rep, 30 Dem, 10 Unaffiliated). 'Trump wins Florida Early Voting' is premature.

Though the large number of Republicans requesting mail in ballots does suggest the momentum is on Trump's side.

Mail-in ballots aren't early voting. They're absentee voting, which has historically favored Republicans (because a large number of absentee voters are military voters). Early voting is the two week period where anybody can show up at the county clerk's office and cast a ballot. It doesn't open til October 24th, and so no information about it exists yet.

Ideally, Trump would be seen to win the first debate strictly on the merits of the issues and his demeanor. Then he wins the second because of the merits and because Clinton's lazy eye was acting up throughout. Then he wins the third because of the merits and because the Clinton bobblehead became increasingly difficult to keep under control as the debate wore on.

Assuming the markets haven't yet discounted a Trumpslide, how will they react when it happens? I'm guessing they will decline at least initially as Trump represents uncertainty and, as the old adage says, markets hate uncertainty. There will likely be a flight to safety, i.e. stocks down, bonds and US dollar up. International markets will probably drop the most, especially China.

However, things might reverse rather quickly as it sinks in that Trump is actually pro-growth/lower taxes.

The bond rally would also likely be short lived as the market begins to realize that Trump is a hard money, Fed hawk. Yellen still has a couple more years left in her term but she could step down sooner, paving the way for Trump to install a hawk as Fed Chairman.

Couple observations:

(1) HRC is spending heavy in PA. I watched the Steelers game via Slingbox so I saw the local commercial spread -- tons of ads. These are not cheap adds. While Pittsburgh is a minor market, NFL ad time is not inexpensive anywhere and in Pittsburgh everyone is watching the game. Pittsburgh is the "swing" area of PA and if she is spending/wasting that much money her team believes it is in Play. I do not recall Obama or Romney spending this much in PA in September (or ever). For Democrats, pushing up Philly turn-out (live, dead, whatever) is usually more profitable. I conclude that Ohio is lost to them, as PA is a 5% more blue Ohio.

(2) We are approaching the quadrennial end of the "gaslighting" season in poll results. This may be where their pushing of HRC so hard in August and September hurts so much, because it creates the impression of Trump momentum. The impression of Trump momentum actually creates real Trump momentum in the same way that they hoped to create HRC momentum (or at worst Trump depression).

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday evening vowed that the government would work to remove all the illegal infiltrators from the neighborhoods of southern Tel Aviv, which have for years been facing ongoing problems caused by infiltrators from Eritrea and Sudan.

His comments came at a toast in honor of Rosh Hashanah with hundreds of Likud members, held at Kfar Maccabiah.

“What happens to countries that fail to keep their borders secure? They are flooded with infiltrators,” said Netanyahu, who added, “We stopped the infiltration into Israel.”

The Prime Minister promised, “60 thousand illegals entered. Until today we have already removed 20 thousand, and we will remove another 20 thousand. We'll remove all the illegal aliens because they are illegal, even the ones in southern Tel Aviv.”
