A tale of three reviews

Bestselling SF author Christopher Nuttall reviews MAGA MINDSET: Making YOU and America Great Again:
MAGA Mindset is not specifically about Trump, although – as you might have guessed – it discusses Trump and his appeal in some detail. Instead, it is a background study of the present-day cultural conflict – I would really call it a civil war – within America and, in at least some aspects, the rest of the West. Such an assessment is long overdue, yet often lacking. Politics, as always, cast a long shadow over any such assessment....

One can only be defeated if one accepts defeat. Trump’s success comes from two factors – the willingness to dream big and the willingness to keep going, even after setbacks. He is correct in many ways – but Big Government works hard to make it difficult. Fighting them can be immensely demoralising. But we have to carry on regardless.

This is a historic election. And this book goes quite some way towards explaining why.

Even if you don’t like Trump, even if you recoil in horror at the thought of President Trump taking office next year, you need to read this book.
Speaking of politics, It's always cute when fake reviewers try to guess what the book is about, and guess wrong:
Used to be a long time reader of Mike and his blog; this book lacked any real evidence as to why Trump and his policies are and actually will be effective if he were to win the 2016. This book completely ignores the discussion of policy and instead focuses on "mindset" techniques that have been rehashed from Gorilla Mindset and his previous blog postings. If Donald Trump loses, this entire book and Mike will lose credibility, proving that Mike has become nothing more than a sheep for the alt-right movement / manosphere.
Notice a theme with these one-star "reviewers"?
I'm a long time reader of Cernovich's excellent blog, and I've purchased and enjoyed his previous books. It saddens me the way the entire "manosphere" has latched onto the odious Donald Trump, swallowing his garbage hook line and sinker. Cernovich claims to be "journalist" now, but in reality he is nothing but a Trump cheerleader, repeating the usual Trump conspiracy theories (Clinton has Parkinsons, election is rigged, etc). If you like Trump, you will probably like this book. Honestly, even if I did like Trump this would be a pretty pathetic effort.
I'm always sorry to see one of our writers disappoint a long time reader[sic] in this way.

My observation is that almost all one star reviews on Amazon are SJW hit jobs...In general, if someone doesn't like a product at all, he doesn't write a review.

I'm a long-time reader and admirer of this blog, but I must say that I am saddened and disappointed at the way Vox distorts and misunderstands the teachings of Aristotle, mistakenly steering them away from their true purpose of queer-centered transgendered Afrocentric post-colonial multicultural critical theory.

On a more serious note (viz. no sarcasm implied), one must give total props to VD for his admirable intellectual seriousness and frankness in discussing his overcoming of that acute adolescence-onset mental disorder, libertarianism, and being frank about his struggles with it, and his re-emergence into reality.

It's refiner's fire, really. "And when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold." Everybody has to struggle with a bizarre misconception or two, at some point in their lives. Onya!

Notice a theme with these one-star "reviewers"?

Hm. Let me guess: they all took a break from commenting FUD here to write those "reviews".

Anonymous LastRedoubt October 20, 2016 4:17 PM

Generally true - though I've personally written a couple reviews of movies/etc. that have really, really disappointed me or not been what was advertised/implied.

Blogger Elocutioner October 20, 2016 4:25 PM

One is a one-review account, another has 5 reviews (including a one-star no-content hit on Bill O'Reilly), and the other hasn't reviewed anything remotely like it before. Obvious frauds.

Anonymous dagwood October 20, 2016 4:31 PM

@5 -- yeah. Not an expert on this whole internet "review" thingy, only done a handful myself, but in my experience, one only gives a really bad review for one of two reasons:
a) the thing totally let you down, you were led to believe it would be good, but then it wasn't, or else
b) trying to make a (hopefully honest) point about what books/music/movies/etc OUGHT to be, but somehow are not, as evidenced by bad-reviewed work.

SJWs lie twice, because their views about what ought to be good are driven by their a priori assumptions, not by taste or discretion or serious thought; and then a second time because they are propagandists distributing fake opinions (as VD has shown) about things they haven't actually read or listened to or gone over.

The third lie is of course the implicit dishonesty of the position, or as the DNC operative said on the O'Keefe vid, "It just doesn't matter, we have to win this motherf*cker."

Intellectual terrorists. (Put that "intellectual" into sarcastic scare quotes.)

I've been reading him since he was liveblogging his crack dealing trial and have purchased all his books, videos and health supplements.

I can't tell you how disappointed I am in him when, in this self-serving trifle of a book that no one will ever read (I note that hasn't even cracked the pedestrian Amazon Top 100 yet,) I was shocked when Mark Cernovick admits to raping nine bears.

Shame on you. Even though through his past advice I have been able to gain nearly 150 pounds of pure muscle and retained water weight, I am now commited to doing the exact opposite of everything Mark Cistalia ever says.

That will show you. You'll be sorry when I'm dead.

Basic difference between SJWs and humans....

Wittgenstein, in the "Tractatus," famously entered with a seemingly bland but actually interesting opening:

"The world is everything that is the case." (Die Welt ist Alles, was der Fall ist.)

SJWs read this with the dominant, controlling word being EVERYTHING. Humans read it with the dominant, controlling phrase being "which is the case" (viz., which is demonstrably true.)

Pipe. Smoke. Repeat.

Deplorable Al Gore vs Insurrectionist Donald Trump....jonathan-chait-duplicitous-hypocrite

Even worse something I didn't know about history

"“Under the protection of federal bayonets, New York went Republican,” wrote Pulitzer Prize-winning Lincoln biographer David Donald. Shutting down more than 300 opposition newspapers and imprisoning tens of thousands of Northern civilians without due process for merely criticizing him was also helpful That was just the start of the kind of election fraud that the Democratic Party has now mastered — and brags about it, as seen in the recent Project Veritas video that has exploded over the internet."

Those one-star trolls? Amateurs.

Now THIS is what I call a quality Amazon review (not sure if the original still exists):

Blogger Thucydides October 20, 2016 10:00 PM

Consider it like the so called "news" coverage of the election; an attempt to throw up a smokescreen of FUD in front of potential buyers.

The true test is how may people walk through the smoke and purchase the book anyway?

Anonymous Last redoubt October 20, 2016 11:40 PM

@7 dagwood

Yeah. What's also funny is the haters who think giving a negative review is some form of trying to spoil people's fun - they're projecting.

For giggles look at the two star reviews of the indie flick "another earth" - a lot of people pissed at a film that grossly misrepresents the genre - with a number noting how unlivable and self-centered the protagonist is.

Oh, and don't bother watching it. The bad reviews were spot on.

Blogger Tom K. October 20, 2016 11:44 PM

My favorite of all their tired lines, is when, realizing they cannot outlast me, they sign off by telling me the feel "sad" for me. So sad.

I love it if they add: "I'll pray for you." It's like a big scoop of chocolate syrup on top!

Anonymous Sherrif T October 20, 2016 11:51 PM

Thanks Dagwood. I knew there was something fishy about SJW's. Good to know they are not the same species.

We can now add 'specie-st' to the 'racist, ... et al' labels. Great!

Concern troll is sad.

I'll volunteer to put a permanent end to his sadness.

Sounds like a business opportunity. But, they'll sue and find another victim!

Let's go #Trump and hurry!
