Celebrities tell you how to vote

Nick Cole, who has no small amount of experience with Hollywood celebrities as an actor on shows like Scrubs and The West Wing, explains why you shouldn't listen to them.
Most celebrities, especially the actors, are literally professional liars. And when you begin to look at their lifestyle, from the unrealistic wealth you and I will never see, to the amount of divorces, drug and alcohol problems and lawsuits they accumulate, they’re not actually savory people. Not even really nice people in fact, unless they’re making videos about how they’re donating to some charity. They are literally bragging on social media about what a giver they are conveniently timed around some theatrical release for their next filth laden flop you shouldn’t actually be watching with your kids.

(Wow what a coincidence! That drug addict rageaholic actor Everyman who parties with the House of Saud and Russian hookers and whose wife fears for her and her kid’s life, shows up at the cancer ward to pretend to be something he’s actually not). And what makes it occasionally creepier than it really is, happens during elections when a celebrity team of Social Avengers gets together to push a flailing political candidate known for her legendary amounts of corruption, avarice, greed and general failings as a human being in order to tell you the other guy is literally Hitler. Disregarding the fact that Hitler was Hitler because he killed millions of people.

Celebrities are lying scum.
I have to admit, I don't pay celebrities any mind whatsoever, on the sound principle that I don't listen to anything that anyone with an IQ less than half of mine says. I can honestly say that I am more inclined to pay heed to the opinion of my wife's Ridgeback than I am to any opinion expressed by a Hollywood celebrity.

Celebrities are, by and large, a collection of shallow, low-IQ little people who spend their lives playing make-believe and pretending to be things that they are not. It's nice that they can make a living that way, but one would do better to seek guidance by consulting the opinions of cosplayers.

To use a term that is not currently popular, these big stars are bankable. Just having them in a production will have it go through. Hence the studios protect them a lot. Whether snowflakes or not, never is heard a contrary word, and they lack of feedback on their opinions.

As kind of an aside here the same thing goes on with women. Lots of women resent contrary opinions and lots of men pander to them. Thus they live in a somewhat sheltered world and it does not help their decision making.

I wonder how many people who were otherwise voting for Trump, or undecided, ended up actually changing their decision to Clinton based off some celebrity endorsement.

Generally I just end up finding more celebrities to dislike every election cycle.

I have come to grudgingly realize that hollywood community (not necesarily the spokes people) are better human beings than I used to think...Their message that I get from them that your own personal happyness is very very important if not the most important thing- has a lot of truth to it

Anonymous Broken Arrow October 05, 2016 11:34 AM

Rationally people should not listen to actors for political advice, but millions do because of the Halo Effect. Everyone does this to a degree, but it becomes powerful when an actor we like due to his or her charm or looks is then assumed to have relevance in another, unrelated area of life like politics.

The typical answer of conservatives is "Your stupid rubes, listening to an actor for your political view! Get some brains, and think about what you are doing." Is not only ineffective, but possibly counter productive as people will take your attack on their thinking (or lack thereof) personally.

The more effective way is "I'll see your Kim Kardashian and raise you a Duck Dynasty family."

Using the Halo Effect to your advantage rather than mocking those who fall for it is one more way the liberals consistently beat conservatives in politics.

Johnny wrote:Passing through the argument stuff and just going to it, for whatever reason the Hollywood types have unusually poor political judgment.

It's because they are entirely insulated from the fall out of any of the politics they support.

Taxes and regulations? They have people who handle all of that for them. They probably don't even realize how much they are paying in taxes because they don't bother to look at the numbers on the tax return they sign.

Diversity!!! They live secluded lives far away from the ghetto where they only ever meet successful people from groups different than their own.

Gun Control? They often get exemptions from these laws. California is a may issue rather than a shall issue state but celebrities never have problems being approved for carry licenses. Furthermore they generally hire their own bodyguards to do the dirty work for them.

Free speech? Everyone lets them say what ever they want and amplifies it for them.

Environmental laws? They can get exemptions from those or afford the extra taxes/fees. They have no problem affording private jets and putting in huge mansions that use large amounts of energy. It's the little people that need to sacrifice for the environment.

Humans are hardwired to herd. Humans are also hardwired to listen to The Heap Big Chief or Shaman who tells the tribe why rain falls and thunder claps.

What humans display little aptitude for is choosing who to listen to. Celebrity is a synonym with popularity, and popularity is a synonym with those who spout words on which other people hang.

How to tell if a person is high-spectrum for herding animal behavior:
1. Tries to stand out by dressing weird, dying hair funny colors or getting tattoos of banal or trivial stupidities (or getting tattoos at all...)
2. Pays close attention to the latest trend or style.
3. Listens to any kind of celebrity, whether that person is an actor, an MSM teleprompter-reader or Professional Opinion Maker.

We all herd. Some herd more than others. Those who herd more are, in my opinion, lower castes or sub-species of human.

Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions. The inability of conservatives to come to grips of how people actually decide on who to vote for constantly undermines their ability to win.

YOU may have chosen your candidate based upon logic and evidence, but most people do not.

1. People who cultivate difference for the sake of being different are the essence of conformity (and thus should be mercilessly ridiculed.)
2. Stand out on scales that matter, like honor, superior ability or other beneficial attribute, not on the basis of meaningless symbols (attire, appearance, social-signaling, etc.) Action is real, appearance is bullshit.

I don't even notice people based on their appearance (other than those who stick out for ridicule-relevant or danger-assessment reasons.) Actions and ability are all that matter. Anyone who works too hard on appearance reveals himself as shallow, useless, dangerous or simply stupid.

Trump has an IQ estimated between 125 and 145, based on the average intelligence of self made billionaires. Based on his SAT scores, that correlated with an IQ of 151 to 156. he graduated Wharton business school, which seems to indicate an IQ of no less than 135.

John C Wright, well I have no idea but as he is a successful author and if you read his blog he seems to be conversant with many philosophical ideas, he is likely has at least a 1.5 to +2 sigma intelligence. I would like to see your data for celebrities from Hollywood being low IQ. It appears to me that they tend to be very smart. Often they have great memories - actors, musicians, and artists.

Their problem is that they are focused on rising to the top of Babylon. Appearances are everything. Nothing is real. They see other people more talented than them in many ways that earn much less. They realize they could fall in an instant. So they are fixated on safety nets and having their own problems solved by others. They learn that any problem of theirs can be solved by throwing enough money and drugs at it. No wonder they are Democrats.

That fixation on appearances and living big in the Los Angeles area is so bad that I have stopped doing business with companies in that metroplex.

@46 - "Sixteenth century or so...actors supposedly had a status right above prostitutes. "

They weren't even allowed to be buried in sacred ground back then. Things improved a bit over the centuries, but even in the Victorian era, actors were low-class and not respectable. Doctor Johnson defined a player as "a fellow who exhibits himself for a shilling" and he was a close friend of David Garrick, one of the greatest actors of his day.

Acting was a way for misfits - often the mentally unstable, homosexual, illegitimate - to perform a useful function, on the fringes of society. It was better than begging or crime. That doesn't mean there weren't great artists among them, but society was more hard-nosed about who was allowed in. Someone like the Prince Regent might patronize theaters and actors, but he was lofty enough that he could go slumming without losing status. Anyone who had some stake in society wouldn't risk it by fraternizing with people who didn't have any, and couldn't be trusted.

I think it was the arrival of moving pictures that lifted actors and actresses into respectability and now we've gone completely in the other direction, and they are regarded as oracles and models of behaviour.

Apparently actors, writers and producers are playing their "roles," too, in destroying what little "melting pot" commonality remained in American culture. As with all fully converged industries, they're dismembering their own golden goose.

There isn't a show still on TV where the smartest, most capable person in the room is a straight white male, and every action/adventure butt-kicking protagonist is a woman. I guess Hollywood thinks by training us to overwhelming suspension-of-disbelief in fiction we'll be amenable to a big chunk of it in real life.

John C. Wright's blog posted the video and two mocking parodies of it.
I remain baffled by two things: the pretentiousness of these ACTORS telling us what is right to do, as if their status and opinions were based on better information than my own, and the fact that if it were not effective, they wouldn't do it.
Dude-- you're not actually Iron Man. You got paid millions of dollars to wear a suit and say some lines in front of a camera, and lots of people love you. But you (and the other paid/volunteer campaign staff/shills) still don't know squat, and I don't care.

'Celebrities' of the Banana Empire's utterly depraved popular 'kultur' have been telling their fans to vote the SJW ticket for decades on end, so this isn't exactly news. I suppose the real question to ask is who's dumber: the often talentless (except at working the casting-couch), not-so-bright 'celebrities' of Bananaland or those who actually pay any attention to anything they say? If Kim Jong Crazy actually managed to land one of his famous No-Dong missiles on Chez Kardashian, we could truthfully call it "regional improvement". Since we are talking actors I just have to mention the Jessie Stone series of movies, made for tv, staring Tom Selleck.
Selleck, according to the imdb writeup, is an avid shooter.
Its not often my wife and I agree on movies. This series, and they are about 90 min long each [made for tv; 2 hrs with commericials]. No commercials in the library loners. We checked them out from out local library and just finished watching #9 last night. I think we are both in withdrawal with no more to see right now.
These things are really, really, really, good. The music, the photography and locations, the plots, the acting. These were taken from the novels by Robert Parker; I checked out the first of the Stone series, Night Passage, to see if the books are as good as the movies. I hope they make some more. Unfortunately Mr. Parker died in 2010, right after finishing the 9th. in the series and, before it was published. At least three? other authors have continued the series but no new movies yet.
If you have a half decent library you can probably get these free for viewing or have them bring them in for you. I can't imagine most at this blog not enjoying them.
IMHO

Yes, the late night comedians have been trashing Trump for months. Some of them have been fairly tame like the SNL people. But most are downright nasty. Blogger Cataline Sergius October 05, 2016 3:57 PM

I hate to break it to you but celebrities are important politically.

1. Visibility. No matter what stupid cause they rep, they automatically get major ink. Getting your issue out there and presenting your paradigm as the mainstream one is half the battle. Celebrities maybe retards but they always get eyeballs.

2. And this is the real problem. Fund raising. They themselves aren't that rich but there are plenty of millionaires who shell out big time for a chance to party with them. Hollywood has been Obama's ATM machine for his entire presidency. It would be the same for Hillary, if she is elected because it was the same for Bill.

And the infuriating part is the Republicans could end it all in heartbeat if they weren't completely owned by the Cucks.

In the old days Hollywood was smarter politically, the talent would support the left and the Moguls would support the right.

They both looked after each other's interests. Now all of them support only the left.

Hit Hollywood with a twenty percent tax on tickets and advertising. Hit Netflix and Amazon too while you're at. I guarantee it would end Hollywood activism overnight.

And it won't happen because the GOP Cucks can't bear the thought of it.

Enthymeme: a syllogism with a missing premise designed to persuade rather than instruct.

Major Premise: Downey says Trump is Hitler.
Missing Premise, emotionally added by normal people: Downey is a superhero and therefore full of truth, justice, and the like.
Conclusion: Trump is Hitler.

While calling attention to, and refuting, the hidden premise is instructive, it is unlikely to counter the instinctive social proof.

Possible counters? Tarnish Iron Man's name with the Ultron thing perhaps? Seems unlikely to work. Thoughts?

VD says he's 4 to 5 SDs,

Let us use some arithmetic. Given most G factor tests are normed to 100 with a SD of 15, that gives

Wright 115, minimum
Trump 122, minimum
VD 175. Let us allow for the errors of high G estimation and give him 180 for teh arithetic is then easy.

Half that is 90.

to me this rates more as fellow hollywood scumbags supporting each other. Both are just riddled with personal problems and demons they needs others to help them cover for, so they can't afford to be choosy as to who they associate and are friendly with. Just a microcosm of of hollywood at large. Scumbags are encouraged to be scumbags by even bigger scumbags so they can use that to hold over them later and force their will on them. Why else do you think anyone is intimidated by a fat herb like Harvey Weinstein?

Same goes for the actors. It's mysterious why guys like Bruce Willis act so over the top like chodes to everyone til you realize how bad they got dumped on to get where they are, and treated like they were nothing. (which they aren't, actors are a dime a dozen) But these actors and their huge egos are convinced they are secretly the BEST and deserve all the fame, and resent the crap *cough* CASTING COUCH *cough* they went to to get where they are, so they take it out on everyone they deem beneath them.

Disney now owns all of Marvel and Warner DC comics. Both are converged.

DC has basically been running on inertia since the late 1960s, so SJW convergence hasn't actually hurt them all that bad. After all, if your're basically on life support for a good chunk of your existence, what's a little SJW infestation really going to do?
As for Marvel, their superhero comics have always been left leaning, so them going SJW isn't all that surprising (X-Men anyone?). It's actually perfectly consistent with their ideology.

In fact, I would say that the biggest problem that the comic book industry has is the fact that it's major players are so poorly run, that it tends to negatively effect everyone else.

I would like to see your data for celebrities from Hollywood being low IQ. It appears to me that they tend to be very smart. Often they have great memories - actors, musicians, and artists.

It's not the low IQ people you have to worry about. Higher IQ types are, paradoxically, more likely to believe really stupid stuff. Who was it that said that some ideas are so dumb only an intellectual would believe them?

The problem with celebrities isn't low IQ. It's greed, hypocrisy and a complete lack of morality. They're whores. And a smart whore is still a whore.
