The price of badthink

Scott Adams said that he used to be scheduled to do at least two speaking engagements per month. Since he's been talking about Trump, he has not received one request. And one scheduled for next year, was canceled as "they are going in a different direction".

It's no wonder the Left has been winning the cultural war. The Left is very good about supporting its cultural leaders. Castalia readers aside - they have been reliably great in this regard - far too much of the Right would rather back a Left-approved winner than support any of its own. Of course, I'm guessing that very little of that speaking engagement money came from anyone who was spending his own money, and most of it came from SJWs who managed to put themselves in position to spend someone else's.

If you were at the Big Fork meeting last night, please note that this is the right time to get involved and start supporting it. You've got the Paypal address already; we'll get a button on the relevant page by Monday. We will continue to do it on a shoestring; we're comfortable with that. But the more people who start using it, the more server resources we'll require.

And for those ready to start making some noise next Monday, there is more than one way to do that. (These are not the OG shirts, they're being prepared, so hold off on those as you'll all be emailed about them. And it's not the only Crypto-Fashion now available.

In a weird way, I'm almost hoping Trump losses. Our goal then would be to let people in white-majority communities know that, if we can't make all of America great again, we can certainly make parts of it great again.

It ain't so much a win if Trump gets in, it is a double secret penalty loss if he doesn't. That crowd on the other side is looking spooky dangerous. We are right on the edge of a totalitarian leftist government, and that is the worst kind. Oppression and incompetence writ large, one reinforcing the other.

Blogger Erynne October 04, 2016 8:53 AM

Leftists seem to be pretty good at implementing and sustaining a totalitarian government for generations. What is it about right-leaning folk that they shoot at their own side so much? Does it spawn from Churchianity? This self-examination mentality that prevents a unified force. When I was growing up, my impression was that rightists thought the leftists insane and evil, but their actions don't support their words. Instead, they must think their own side insane and evil and constantly work to make corrections. How else does the right send up Bush, McCain, Romney? I've also been amused by the mental gymnastics from my evangelical friends from college, because they can't shut off their brain and single-issue vote for the pro-life guy.

If that was the case, then why did the LA Times tacitly admit the debate was a boost...FOR Trump?

Now, like some folks here, I didn't watch the debate last week. But from what I've heard about it, she couldn't wipe that smug look off of her face. That, to me, is far more telling of how far she is in the hole than it is Trump's relative inexperience at the national level. Sure, you could say she won on policy points...points that most people don't exactly give two shits about because they're the same ones we've been subjected to for the past 24 years. Trump did exactly what he needed to do, and the MSM is going to regret leaving the bar so damned low for him for the next two debates.

You all are completely divorced from reality. There will be no Trumpslide — unless that's what you want to call what he gets buried under on Election Day.

This loser has never moved ahead of Clinton in the polling averages, and the debate was a complete disaster for him, magnified by his unhinged reaction to being so completely dominated by a woman. Trump proved how incapable, inexperienced and unprepared he is during the debate, and he's been working hard to reinforce those impressions every day since.

Trump won't be able to bring back The Apprentice after this, but he would be a shoe-in for The Biggest Loser.

And yet the Alt-Right is still using "white" instead of "people of virtue" in everyday conversation. Why? If one side can gratuitously elevate itself rhetorically into the loftier "people of color", why does the other side stubbornly refuse to match Orwellian weapon with Orwellian weapon?

Although Pence can put forth a mournful, pallid Igor look on occasion, in direct physical contrast to Kaine he looks positively adult and statesmanlike.

Kaine just has this unfortunate gap-toothed goofy look that was endearing on the brawny Ernest Borgnine but on Kaine leaves the viewer thinking of nothing so much as the uncle at Thanksgiving dinner who, having unsuccessfully tried to get the kids to pull his finger, later in the evening proceeds to drink heavily and cry, ultimately confessing that he had touched several of them inappropriately.

Given the emergence of troll culture and the general feralization of America, I suspect that the pendulum is swinging the other way and you're going to win the culture wars by being as boorish, scary, and as socially blasphemous as possible. But I'm seeing TONS of Trump propaganda: hats, billboards, signs, and bumper stickers. What's different from elections past is the rate I'm seeing Trump hats and shirts on young males. Eh. As Rummy once said, you go to war with the army you have. Or as my dad puts it, you can only piss with the cock you've got.

Trump's flawed. Everybody's flawed. Maggie Thatcher and Ronald Reagan were flawed too, much as nostalgia glosses over their failures while buffing their triumphs.

There were, IIRC, 47,326 candidates in the Republican primaries, and Trump BTFO'ed them all. That wasn't an accident.

Where is this mythical quality candidate of which you speak? He doesn't exist in the real world.

Trump's got plenty of rough edges, and he's not the most eloquent debater, but I guarantee you none of the R team's more polished speakers would've gotten as far as he has in pushing issues that were technically verboten until only a few months ago.

Because Trump's antifragile, both in temperament and personal circumstances.

Crooked Eye HilLIARy Health leak https://www.lewrockwell.com/2016/10/no_author/hillary-sick-every-sense/

"President Obama is so concerned about Hillary Clinton’s health that he recently offered to arrange a secret medical checkup for her at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Hillary declined the offer because she feared the media would find out about her Walter Reed visit and learn the truth about her medical condition—that she is suffering from arrhythmia (an abnormal heart beat), a leaking heart valve, chronic low blood pressure, insufficient blood flow, a tendency to form life-threatening blood clots, and troubling side effects from her medications.

Hillary has arranged her own secret medical visits to the New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she arrives through a private entrance out of public sight and where she can rely on her doctors’ discretion not to speak to the media."

We don't owe anything to people coming here disparaging our movement. The left has already established their unwillingness to engage in open debate, so we should only extend a courtesy when the guest passes screening.

Until then, the negative comment will require the poster to declare how much responsibility he bears for the horrific policies of the left. Going from there, we weigh his comment in light of his transgressions and level of apparent humility.

I am not going to discuss Trump's 'misogyny' for example if the poster thinks letting men in women's changerooms is acceptable. Completely un-balanced.

You forget the Left has made it ILLEGAL for the right to retaliate in this through various "anti-discrimination" statutes and compliant useful idiots in the courts who continually uphold those blatant violations of the 1st and 14th Amendment.

So do folks think this has been primarily due to less-informed folks not hearing the opposing views because of censorship OR because of not-wanting to be a leader and risk getting a smackdown from the MSM?

So, once people hear that there are alternative views and that there are like-minded people, it puts a little more steel in the spine?

Anonymous Jack Amok October 04, 2016 12:27 PM

Who vandalized the hillary sign? It doesnt sound like something a Trump supporter would do.

Oh, I wouldn't be so sure about that. It probably was a Bernie supporter*, but there are some pissed-off people on the Trumpwagon.

* or it could have been a windstorm - act of Kek.

So, once people hear that there are alternative views and that there are like-minded people, it puts a little more steel in the spine?

It's called a Preference Cascade. When the group in power makes it dangerous (financially or physically) to speak out against them, and the majority come to despise them, the majority doesn't realize it. Because so many people suppress their real opinions for fear of reprisal, the group in power appears to have significantly more support than they really do have.

The key to recognizing this is how little enthusiasm there is for the powers-that-be.

Then at some point, enough people speak out and survive that the majority realizes the corruptokrats in power have very little actual support, and out they go. See Soviet Union, fall of...

But im optimistic Trump will win bc here and there i see supportive words from places that i would not expect to see it from and he still retains the huge support from places i would expect to see it from

While I fervently hope and pray for a Trumpslide, the indicators are not looking good.

Outside of the nonstop barrage of Dem propaganda from the media, Soros Troll Army on the Internet, Democrat controlled courts now going after Trump and his enterprises and growing evidence of voter fraud, where is the surge of voters?

Polls remain relatively static or even declining (yes, a few states have come into play, but others seem to be hardening on the Blue side of the ledger), and the preference cascade, if any, hasn't become apparent. Unless all those Trump supporters with signs and at the rallies actually appear at the polls in far greater numbers than the army of "Freestuff" seekers and walking dead the Dems bring, the result will be very close (Think Bush/Gore 2000), and if it comes to the courts, you know who has their hands on the levers of "justice".

I know Despair is a mortal sin, but I can't help thinking of how the odds are stacked against Trump, nationalist Americans and the rest of us in general. If Trump loses, then we advance to the next stage, which is armed rebellion. Regardless of how many handguns and rifles are out there, do you really think that is going to be sufficient against a modern military force and a government with control over the domestic infrastructure (unless you are going into a generational war, the end of which will not result in a reborn United States, or anything even closely resembling it).

I'd really like to see more signs that the table really is tilting towards the nationalists.

Still have a landline. Have gotten polling calls on it for multiple election cycles. I've participated every cycle in at least one poll.

Not this year. No. I politely decline and hang up. Nothing to be gained.

I might not be the only person refusing to be polled this year.

You aren't. I've a landline too.

Also Thucydides, despite all this effort Trump is ahead in a great many mainstream polls . mainstream . Its possible he could lose but its more likely he wins, so don't despair

In any case he has done his job, exposed the many of our fellows who are fuming mad but think they are alone to a grand idea, you are not alone.

Shifting the Overton window was Trump's second victory (the 1st being winning his primaries)

Also I get the sentiment, wanting traditional America back but no matter what happens, that won't even under Trump.

America won't be the same after its brought back. way too many think they can "fight the good fight and just go home to Monticello 2.0"

You won't be able too. Building a new posterity from the ashes of what we have, whether by the hoped for political victories or by other means

Its is at least a generation long project of deportation, building a functional economy, purging Institutional Leftism (Entnazifizierung if you like) and Globalist 5th columnists and a lot more. Hell just building our infrastructure and institutions back up will take at least a decade or two

That just the basic "Federal" stuff States will have even more to do , education, state infrastructure

As a current example, , Putin has been in charge in one way or another for nearly two decades Russia still isn't fully healed .

More power and less resistance might make it faster but undoing 75 years of Communism isn't something that happens overnight

Chaos is easy, Order is hard.

But it is observable reality that trump has had a bad two weeks and he has no one to blame but himself.

kayfabe requires downturns and setbacks.

no Face wins *every* time in *every* situation. that's just boring.

the Face has to ALMOST be defeated ... and then come roaring back in triumph.

of course, the original alternative conspiracy theory could also still be in play:
IF Trump is a setup to hand the election to Hillary
THEN he will utterly fail to slam dunk her in all three debates.

remember, we've all seen Trump manhandle her ALREADY when he was calling her out for Bill's rapes. we know he knows how to do this.

Blogger Ingot9455 October 04, 2016 3:39 PM

@74 Also, polling is a lot more annoying nowadays. If I received a call, answered, and heard a non-recorded voice saying, "Hi! This is a presidential poll from Whatever Polling!" I'd answer. But when you pick up and hear silence and the sounds of machinery and microphones hissing, listening to determine if it hears humanity on the other side of the wire to clickclick into its prerecorded shpiel full of false enthusiasm and poorly enunciated words, who doesn't hang up?

Heck, when I got a local-issue push-poll with a friendly elderly Hispanic woman trying to 'poll' me on the local school board election (she couldn't pronounce the name of the city or county because they were foreign to her) she was so polite I did the whole thing.

Blogger Basil Makedon October 04, 2016 3:55 PM

I always made it a point to sit through every poll that called and push as far right as possible given the range of permitted options (for example, you can't say "11" when your range of agreement is 1 to 10). My thinking was that polls are really "super-elections" where I stand in for thousands, if not millions, of my fellow Americans.

I haven't been polled this year in the general election, though I was often in the primary season. However, living in Texas as I do, this does not surprise me.

The one thing I no longer do is give money. I refuse to reinforce the failure of others (I have plenty of my own!).

When the GOP called me in the midst of the IRS scandal to raise funds, I told them in no uncertain terms that I would never contribute again until and unless convictions were obtained.

The very nice volunteer (I presume) that called me was surprised by that reaction, but after considering it he agreed that my position made sense. Since I have seen no convictions, they will never see another dime.

Yes, absolutely. See Vietnam, Afganistan and Iraq.

Also consider that if the US military attacked us, they would be attacking their own troop's families, their supply line, their tax base - generally, they would be attacking everything that makes the US military possible.

Finally, a conventional military is counterproductive in 4GW. Again, see Vietnam, Afganistan and Iraq.

I was at a meeting once and another guy and I were talking to a professor during a break and after the professor talked for awhile my partner asked him "How in the hell did someone who thinks like you ever get tenure at New York University." The professor said: For the first 7 years, I never said a thing." Maybe if Scott was concerned about his lecture income he should have been more discrete.

For years the mainstream Right has been giving aid and comfort to the Left in the form of tolerating the presence of a hostile Left in its midst ...

Perhaps it's time to implement a new concept.

"Fewer friends on the Left, more friends on the Right."

Scott Adams needs more friends on the Right.

It's time to help take care of that for him.

Also, in the spirit of Sam Kinison, I offer this further advice to Scott Adams: "MOVE TO WHERE THE RIGHT IS!"

:-)

Blogger dfordoom October 05, 2016 1:01 AM

@ Ominous Cowherd

Also consider that if the US military attacked us, they would be attacking their own troop's families, their supply line, their tax base - generally, they would be attacking everything that makes the US military possible.

What you're forgetting is that the "us" they'd be attacking is, relatively speaking, a handful of people. Civil War 2.0 would last a few hours at the end of which every rebel in arms would have been rounded up and sent to Guantanamo Bay. The public will be told that it was necessary to deal with dangerous extremists. Most of the public will believe the government. The few who have doubts won't dare to express those doubts. The official name for the war will probably be something like The War on Terror 2.0.

The US military won't hesitate to gun you down. The US military has never hesitated to do anything it's been ordered to do no matter how barbarous. Soldiers obey the people who pay them.

Again, see Vietnam, Afganistan and Iraq.

It's worth pointing out that the Vietcong did not win the Vietnam War. By 1968 they had been utterly defeated. It was the North Vietnamese military that won the war - a properly organised, properly supplied and properly equipped army.

Poorly equipped peasants don't win against real armies unless those peasants are being supported by an outside power. That would not be the case in Civil War 2.0.

I'm not suggesting that the globalists can't be defeated. But an armed insurrection would be an abject and tragic failure that would make things much much worse. A much cleverer strategy will be needed.

Blogger dfordoom October 05, 2016 1:11 AM

@ stevo

The easy answer might be that the left needs to have a collective, while the right just wants to be left alone

It depends on what you mean by the right. If you're talking about American-style "conservatives" who clam to stand for small government you might be correct. I don't think it applies to actual conservatives. Actual conservatives value things like tradition and family and religion and these are all collective endeavours.

The problem is that actual conservatives are a very very small minority.

There's a critical mass that is reached and then momentum takes over."

@73 "Polls remain relatively static or even declining"

Please remember -- the pollsters (besides being corrupt) DO NOT COUNT me and people like me. I have not voted in nearly (just over?) 20 years. I registered this year *specifically* to vote for Trump. I will not ever be counted by the pollsters. (Well, till next election?)

Now, mix in allllll those on the Right, like me, who have given up on voting over these past how-ever-many years -- and you can guarant-damn-tee the polls are complete junk!
