"The woman is a disaster!"

Camille Paglia on Hillary Clinton:
Talking to Camille Paglia is like approaching a machine gun: madness to stick your head up and ask a question, unless you want your brain blown apart by the answer, but a visceral delight to watch as she obliterates every subject in sight. Most of the time she does this for kicks. It’s only on turning to Hillary Clinton that she perpetrates an actual murder: of Clinton II’s most cherished claim, that her becoming 45th president of the United States would represent a feminist triumph.

‘In order to run for president of the United States, you have to spend two or three years of your life out on the road constantly asking for money and most women find that life too harsh, too draining,’ Paglia argues. ‘That is why we haven’t had a woman president in the United States — not because we haven’t been ready for one, for heaven’s sakes, for a very long time…’

Hillary hasn’t suffered — Paglia continues — because she is a woman. She has shamelessly exploited the fact: ‘It’s an outrage how she’s played the gender card. She is a woman without accomplishment. “I sponsored or co-sponsored 400 bills.” Oh really? These were bills to rename bridges and so forth. And the things she has accomplished have been like the destabilisation of North Africa, causing refugees to flood into Italy… The woman is a disaster!’
La Paglia may occasionally take a while to come around, but she always provides an interesting take on things. And, as usual, she does not disappoint.

Back in 2012, Paglia came close to shadow-endorsing Romney (or at least she suggested the country would be safe in his hands and Obama already was a failure), but she voted for Jill Stein and, in the immediate aftermath of the election, seemed to walk back the Romney apologetics somewhat (perhaps she was ambivalent the whole time).

So I am excited by the money quote here:

"Paglia says she has absolutely no idea how the election will go: ‘But people want change and they’re sick of the establishment — so you get this great popular surge, like you had one as well… This idea that Trump represents such a threat to western civilisation — it’s often predicted about presidents and nothing ever happens — yet if Trump wins it will be an amazing moment of change because it would destroy the power structure of the Republican party, the power structure of the Democratic party and destroy the power of the media. It would be an incredible release of energy… at a moment of international tension and crisis.’"

Paglia's Old Left and somewhat kneejerk pro-immigrant sentimentality (I would love to tease her affectionately over her career-long habit of lamented how repressing the 1950s were, when her parents took her trick-or-treating dressed as, among other role models, Prince Hamlet and Napoleon) probably make, even now, any hint of a pro-GOP stance challenging for her self-conception, but these words strongly suggest at last that she recognizes in Trump a fellow-spirit and a civilizational point of decision.

She's been anti-Clinton for years. I've always respected Paglia because she generally follows the logic through to the end. And she foresaw and condemned the Snowflake Culture long before most.

Maybe for some but my experience was different when I talked with her almost 20 years ago. While sharp as a razor, she was delightfully charming, even endearingly ditzy.

It's about damn time she did .
Better late than never, eh ?

Paglia is one of the few "Leftists" who possess a rational mind. As #2 says, she predicted and fought against the development of Snowflake Culture, she has Integrity. I always read what she writes.

Blogger Benjamin Kraft October 29, 2016 9:15 AM

I may be the only one feeling this, but I get a distinct vibe, when she talks about "incredible release of energy" from the annihilation of the Rep/Dem/Media in the event of a Trump win, as her actually being intrigued in how much destruction (how big of an explosion) it will cause, before anything else. As in, she literally just wants to watch the fireworks/watch the world burn.

A very detached perspective, especially coming from a woman.

It's hit and miss with her, which frustrates me to no end.
But she's a leftie as you said, which says it all.

As far as I can tell, she has no children of her own. Not insignificant.

Blogger DemonicProfessorEl October 29, 2016 9:36 AM

Paglia's typically been open about her liberalism being a product of blue collar lefty politics, hence her derisions of Obobo and the Killare. She's also one of those "feminists" who will dare to be pro-men/pro-masculinity with the Dworkins of the world face to face.

Paglia does often lament the loss of masculinity. Old Skool Lesb, her - she wants to be a tomBOY, dang it!

Or: Actions speak louder than words and she's pretty handy as a "Leftist" going after, well, Leftists. My impression was that she said certain things to keep her university gigs.

On the other hand, apparently she lists Amelia Earhart on a short list of her heroes and people she aspired to be like.

...Anyone who's actually done some research on Earhart knows that she was a passenger with a male pilot for "Her" trans-Atlantic flight. Then she proceeded to disappear forever while trying to actually fly herself around the world. Props for trying, but she didn't really succeed at anything. She was very specifically chosen by the feminist movement, even before the trans-Atlantic flight, to be a feminist figurehead.

If you were ever wondering where all that stuff about her running faster and jumping higher fences than any of the boys when she was younger came from... well, it's rather suspicious at the least.

She was basically a feminist mythology-fraud. Granted, she got some places on her own, but no one except the historians remember any of them.

Maher concluded, “... I don’t care if she’s got JonBenét Ramsey in her basement, I’m still not voting for Donald Trump.”

Consider the mentality this Maher creature exhibits. They hate us. They want us to vanish from the Earth. There can be no compromise with these people. Either we destroy them, or they WILL destroy us. Thanks be to God that Donald Trump is giving us a chance short of war.

If she is one thing, she is honest and recognizes that free speech is superior to protecting feelings. She and others like her (Gellar for example) represent the woman who uses her intelligence to better society, instead of advancing a leftist agenda.

The Black homeless woman guarding Trump's star was bullied and knocked down by a mob of Hillary thugs. Short Youtube video here.
She is now missing, Trump's campaign is trying to find her: #StarProtector.

She has been tentatively identified as Marsha Lee, age 64.

Paglia loved and defended Sarah Palin years ago, when it wasn't cool. For that, she won my admiration and gratitude. To hear her take on third-wave feminism is like bathing in champagne and razor blades. if Milo teamed up with her in a debate against anybody, any names at all, I'd pay a grand for a ticket. Paglia's values are basically those of her parents, the greatest generation. She has common sense and understands how the real world works and her place in it. I guess I could call myself a Camille Paglia feminist because everything she says about men is imbued with respect and awe for what men accomplish and build in this world. Yes, she's a lesbian, but she's also a champion of men. IMO, a great intellect.

I've always admired Paglia, possibly the last "honest" leftist out there. If I had a bucket list, "Coffee with Camille Paglia" would be on it--well below enjoying a skull-chalice of wine and roasted SJW hors d'oeuvres with our Dark Lord, of course. (Aside: my son signed up for a pair of tickets so he and his girlfriend could see Milo at a local event... damn right, I'm proud.)

Her life's work was the destruction of feminism's intellectual authority. Aside from that, she's said a lot of foolish but forgivable things. Give her a chance and read her preface to "Sexual Personae," which is genius.

A Small Triumph for Free Speech
Mosby calls Pagila a cunt. I call her a great intellect. Nobody melts down or throws rocks. Thousands of lurkers get to make up their own minds. It's a small triumph for free speech. Amazing how the concept works as advertised.

Note to Mosby: The lady has been identified and a rescue op is in place. Hollywood conservatives are all over it, but they need to stay quiet.

Lena Dunham is one lesbian that wants little white girls to be plentiful in the future.

Maher concluded, “... I don’t care if she’s got JonBenét Ramsey in her basement, I’m still not voting for Donald Trump.”

Wouldn't that make him more likely to vote for Crooked Eye Clinton, if she had her own Epstein basement? Never mind JonBenét would be old enough to have tits now.

She is now missing, Trump's campaign is trying to find her: #StarProtector.

TRUMP will find the dozen wetbacks that beat her up and hand them over to Sherriff Joe, notice they said the EMTs wouldn't help her because they are wetbacks also.

I do have children and I want to watch the fireworks too.

Because the explosion will be smaller now than it will be in five years and if we push the plunger right now, it's be the corrupt political parties and their media/financial allies who get blown up. The rest of us will just have to dodge the shrapnel. Another four years of the status quo though and it's everything going up in the blast.

Blow. It. Up. Now.

@17 anonymous-9: "if Milo teamed up with her in a debate against anybody, any names at all, I'd pay a grand for a ticket."

Something pretty close seems to be in the near future. Jordan Peterson, taking on the marxists at the Univ of Toronto, mentioned that a debate on the matter of Bill C-16 (making your refusal to agree to sjw gender terminology insanity a criminal matter).

He also stated recently that if he is hauled before the Ontario "Human Rights" Commission (the textbook definition of an extra-judicial PC police org), he will refuse to pay the fine and, if imprisoned, will go on a hunger strike.

Her life's work was the destruction of feminism's intellectual authority.

If all the lefists of the world were like Pagila, it would be a far better place. She might have political disagreements with us, but she doesn't see us as The Enemy.

Yes, shill, you intentionally got that wrong. Her assailants were latinos...

Yep, with one black guy lecturing her after they knocked her down that he wasn't going to defend her. He actually hammers home the point about who here attackers were. "You asked me if I as a Black man was going to defend you..."

She wouldn't ask a Black man to - as a Black man - defend her against other Black men, now would she?

And that video is bad news for Clinton, and all Dems. Dems can't win national office without the supermajority of Black votes they traditionally get, but Blacks are being oppressed by Mexicans these days, and the Trump is the guy who wants to build a wall. In a world gone tribal, Blacks don't have a home with the Globalists.

Anonymous A Paradigm Is More Than Twenty Cents October 29, 2016 1:52 PM

Eh, Paglia. She says things other lefties can't or won't say, so people get all thrilled, but really she's just a girl who really wants to be accepted by the boys. Tomboys are like that.

If she can peel off some of the pantsuit brigade from voting for Hillary Rodan Robot, that's good. But taking her seriously, like she's the female version of Eco? That's a couple or three bridges too far.

Paglia
And the things she has accomplished have been like the destabilisation of North Africa, causing refugees to flood into Italy… The woman is a disaster!’

Paglia's concern for Italy demonstrates the major flaw in unlimited immigration. She's 2nd generation or 3rd generation? Yet she sees the invasion of Europe in terms of that happens to Italy.
