A nitpick for Polizette: McMullin didn't go on a suicide mission. He was a total nobody; now he's well positioned to run for public office in Utah, and join the political class that so obviously he envies. He's done, most likely, fairly well for himself by exploiting the self-righteousness and gullibility of Utah culture.

The more cynical side of me suggests that that was really his true intention all along. But maybe that's giving him more strategic credit than he deserves. That may well be more of an unanticipated side-effect.

Shut down all the humanities/SJW studies departments and transfer all the funding to STEM and Professional degrees cutting their costs in half. All the College kids who vote for the left for cheaper college (except for the SJW's but that's who we are gunning for) will love Trump and it will mortally wound the left while also gaining Trump leftist votes in 2020.

Interesting to see Dreher say he didn't vote for Clinton. A few days before the election, he approvingly quoted a Douthat piece that laid out the "conservative" argument for voting for Clinton, and Rod said if he lived in a swing state, he didn't know what he would do, though he certainly wouldn't vote for Trump. That's as close as you can get to an endorsement without saying "Vote Clinton." In fact, I had to read it twice to see that he didn't endorse her, the implication was so clear.

I asked if he would retract that in light of the revelations of occultism, and my comment was deleted. I wrote him off and won't be going back to see if he tried to pull back from that after it was too late.

My interaction with a group of (on paper) very bright people left me profoundly disgusted with their average level of common sense.

Conditions in Northern Europe's Middle Ages were extraordinarily harsh, enough to probably kill off the stupid and leave what amounted to exclusively the descendants of the elite alive to populate that area. This is part of why all important innovations of Modern Life came from those descendants.

Today, we see how sclerotic and debased are our "elite." When harsh conditions return, this time I think both the bottom and much of the top of the IQ distribution will prove incapable of survival. If hard times must come, I sincerely hope among the first to be culled will be the "white" (((and white))) elites who exhibit such dearth of self-reflection & common sense. Let them all be Amy Biehl.

Maybe it was the wrong decision, but it is far more likely that Trump's particular problems (if any) will show up in less expected ways. We already know he is ideologically problematic. We don't care. Flip flopping beats treason for profit and the worse stuff that is rumored about Podesta and company any day.

Worse case scenario is likely to be an alpha male version of Mitt Romney. Guess what? I think even Vox can live with that rather than see Grandma Abortion Witch in the oval office.

Every president since Johnson has tossed one live grenade after another into our midst, and the longer that none of them detonated, the higher they were piled and the more confident and complacent everyone became.

The pile (of debt) is so large that it cannot possibly be dismantled safely. The sympathetic detonation of all of them is only a matter of time. Simply removing a single bomb from the pile will set them off, as will being unable to toss more of them on top. When credit creation so much as hesitated in 2008 it almost collapsed the world's economy.

It is very much unknown what will happen if they begin to detonate in waves. Most normal is for everyone to blame whoever's in charge when the collapse hits, not blame predecessors who actually insured the debacle. For the moment, US markets indicate that the trend remains up, and I still think the odds favor hitting new All Time Highs. A reversal after that would seem likely, although whether it takes 4 weeks, 4 months or 4 years is anyone's guess.

Trump had best avoid anything even remotely smelly; Bill Clinton spooged the Oval Office carpets and lied under oath, yet got away with it because stocks and social mood were rising. Nixon was driven from office for what outwardly looked like covering up political shenanigans, because stocks (and mood) were falling.

It's not over. The work here is not done. So I suspect that once their shaking stops and their pants dry out, it will be as if they've awakened out of a bad dream, and they will suddenly discover there wasn't that much to worry about after all. Take Mr. Erickson up there, for instance; he's already reframing. Within a month some of these guys will be praising ideas that Trump's been speaking about and has had on his web site for a year, and writing about how he might actually be pretty conservative after all.

That's why it's important to remember.

This example is small and maybe doesn't matter but 3-4 days ago my wife and I were driving home from the gym and three teenagers in a car were driving in our neighborhood and yanking up Trump signs from people's yards. I told my wife to stop and I got out of the hard and took off after the car. I caught up with the car and started pounding on the trunk yelling, "Get out of the car you bitches!!" They of course sped up and went off but not before they threw all the Trump signs out of the car and I took them back to their homes.

That could have been 3 on 1. They ran like cowards. Maybe it is different in the inner cities where mobs of blacks will attack women and hipsters, but I think the violence and riots? I think blacks and other minorities know better. They can stick to burning their own businesses, their own homes and each other. Who gives a flying fuck. That's less of them to bother with, but I don't think it extends further than that.
