Mailvox: an alternative Comey script

As opposed to Scott Adams Two Bullets for the Republic story or my own Another Chance at Redemption movie, we are given The Puppet's Whitewash:
Here's how the current bogus Comey/Huma/Weiner email scandal scam works:

Re those Wiener emails that everyone's foolishly talking about while the sold-out media deliberately ignores the ongoing Julian releases (which are actually much more important), some important facts first, any of which is a dead giveaway of what's ACTUALLY going on:

Specifically, director Comey has been attending daily meetings at the white house all along (which would be rather unusual if he's actually about to dump something damaging which could implicate the white house as well as destroy Hillary and the entire Democratic party) and, of course, Hillary has been demanding that they release those new Weiner emails immediately (which is ridiculous for several incredibly obvious reasons).

The fact that Comey is continuing to visit the white house daily in the midst of this new supposed "scandal" is the first obvious giveaway, but Hillary demanding that they release those emails is the second less obvious giveaway until you realize several very, VERY important and obvious things:

Unlike any Julian material, those emails are in the possession of bought-and-sold-Hillary-flunky director Comey.

Also, legally, if there is a valid investigation under way, he CAN NOT release evidence in an ongoing case.  Hillary realizes this too (which makes her calls to release the emails kind of silly, but it plays really well to an ignorant audience who doesn't know the law).

However, Hillary CAN LEGALLY release those emails whenever she wants - they're her property, after all, and she is under no legal obligation to keep them under wraps.  Indeed, if they're full of crap, by releasing them NOW, it instantly ends the scandal.

Of course, that is the last thing they want.  So here's how it works:

The reason Hillary is demanding the immediate release of those emails is because she already knows that her slave Comey has gone through them with a fine-toothed comb and very carefully edited out ANYTHING which might actually be illegal while leaving in just enough to make Hillary look merely "careless" again.

Why?

Because he (representing the FBI) will release those emails just before election day, and then the Hillary camp will point at them and say, "Look, there's actually NOTHING criminal here at all and I am now vindicated by no less than the FBI!"

She'll then follow up with a knockout punch by proclaiming that it was an unfair Trump witchhunt all along and that Trump knew it all along and yet he still persecuted her unfairly, bringing up the emails continuously in a sleazy and unethical attempt to unfairly bring her down.  Suddenly outraged and now motivated (which they're currently not), even reluctant Hillary voters suddenly rush the polls, voting her into office while the Trump supporters slink away in embarrassed (and non-voting) silence.

So, bottom line, it's a trap and Comey is complicit in it and so are the media (as usual), and not only does it set up a trap but it also distracts the public from the ongoing tsunami of the continuing Julian data dumps (which are FAR more important as they're not under the control of a loyal Hillary slave like Comey, and therefore the Julian emails are real while the Comey emails are being manipulated and edited in Hillary's favor as I type this).

That said, however, it's actually a pretty good strategy:  all you have to do is have Comey complicit in every step and it becomes a pretty good game of chess complete with inevitable checkmate.  And in the meantime, Hillary and her supporters keep screaming intense outrage and cursing Comey while the inner circle, of course, already knows what's going on (like I said, Comey going to the white house every day, even now).  But I would like to take this moment to nominate Hillary for an Emmy and Oscar - good acting deserves an award.

And the final proof:  if Comey has betrayed her and the dems with "his" deliberate and intentional bringing up the emails just before the election, and if they were, in fact, as terrible as Hillary and the dems claim they are, then Obama would despise Comey for destroying the election.  So what did the Prez do today?

Remember, this is from the President himself while the rest of the dems run about in mock horror and outrage, with Hillary herself continues to act like she's really, REALLY furious at Comey while simultaneously demanding that the emails be made public because she knows Comey has already edited them in her favor.  And keeping that in mind, so if the emails are so damaging, WHY would President Obama put in a good word for Comey who just restarted the investigation into those oh-so-damaging emails?  Why would President Obama show support for Comey when he has so clearly destroyed Hillary and the Democratic party?

But hang on - one more piece:  guess who will be deciding whether or not to take any legal action at all regarding those emails?  Answer:  the most corrupt Justice Department in the history of the United States who also just happen to be totally rock solid Hillary supporters:

LOL!  Could they be any more OBVIOUS?!   If the voters fall for this HUGE scam, they're really are as stupid as Hillary says they are in all of her emails and text messages.  And the Republicans have obviously taken the bait, hook line and sinker which, by definition, makes them complete retards for falling for this obvious trap.

This is how the Comey/Huma/Weiner scam works.  It's a trick.  It's a trap.  Case proven, Q.E.D.
Color me dubious. First, some of the basic facts are wrong. Most of the emails are not Hillary's. She can't release Huma's emails, Weiner's emails, or any other files from the computer, and she probably has no idea what most of them are. Even Huma apparently doesn't know what is on the laptop, which belongs to her husband, not her.

Second, this version of the story assumes that Obama wants to protect Hillary Clinton. I very much doubt that. He doesn't care about her and he doesn't care about the Democratic Party. Third, this version of the story ignores the most important aspect of the situation, which is the internal pressure at the FBI and the fact that the New York FBI office was in possession of the laptop for some time and presumably has copies of all the emails as well.

If there was nothing in the original emails, why was there so much anger directed at Comey when he refused to recommend prosecution? And if the new emails were selectively edited and released in support of a whitewash, that would risk blowing the whole defend-Hillary conspiracy wide open and taking down everyone associated with it. Would you want to bet everything on the assumption that no one at either the NYPD or the New York FBI has a complete set of the emails from that laptop? Remember, we're talking about criminals here, and criminals tend to project their own criminality on others.

Copying the emails is the very first thing that any corrupt official would do, whether the law permitted it or not, and I would assume that there are multiple copies of the complete set now floating around. I wouldn't be surprised if both the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks already have their own sets.

Now, why would Obama put in a good word for Comey? My interpretation of his statement is that it was a signal to the media and the entire Democratic Party that he is hanging Hillary, and by extension the whole Clinton machine, out to dry. I think he's entirely willing to let the chips fall where they may. He's not involved, he knows he's not involved, and I suspect it would give him a good deal of satisfaction to see his former Secretary of State, whose inept foreign policy has ruined his legacy, finally receive her comeuppance. Remember, these people do not like each other.

We'll see who is closer to correct soon enough. If the emailer is right, we'll see a public whitewashing from Comey later this week. If I'm right, this week will see more and more prominent media figures pulling long faces and declaring that Hillary is unsuitable for the presidency as her poll numbers collapse.

they're her property, after all

Not if they contain any governmental information while she was in office. You can drive a truck through the holes in this one. Comey could still do a whitewash without this guy's interpretation. He did it before, ignoring Title 18, Sec 2071 which requires no intent.

I smell disinformation here.

Anonymous Undocumented Civilizationalist November 01, 2016 8:42 AM

I very much doubt that. He doesn't care about her and he doesn't care about the Democratic Party.

This indeed does seem to be true. The earlier DC leaks emails shows that there is zero love lost between the Obamas and the Clintons:

An email from Democratic donor Jeffrey Leeds to former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell dated March 14, 2015, says the Clinton family “hates” the president for winning the 2008 election:

“I did read PEGGY [Noonan],” Mr. Leeds wrote in response to an email from Mr. Powell. “Now it turns out that other State people were on the Clinton email so none of their emails were captured by the government. I think Hillary can’t believe she might not make it. It’s the one prize she wants. She has everything and she HATES that the president (‘that man’ as the Clintons call him) kicked her ass in 2008.”

Further excerpt from same email chain:
"She’s got trouble too. No one likes her and the criminal thing ain’t over. I don’t think the President would weep if she found herself in real legal trouble. She’ll pummel his legacy if she gets a chance and he knows it.”

Vox, I tend toward your analysis. I think Comey was bullied into whitewashing the original evidence, then forced by an internal FBI revolt into reopening.

We have to figure that the e-mails will fall into three categories: Those that have nothing to do with State Department business, those that have already been seen, and those which have NOT already been seen. The latter are the most interesting, as they may contain the evidence of influence-peddling that is the real core of this scandal.

And yes, Obama might well toss Hillary under the bus. There's personal animus there...and having the GOP wolf pack devour the Clintons will keep attention off Obama.

I agree these people don't have enough love or trust to work together. There isn't any money left to be made so what's holding them together?

Anonymous Andrew November 01, 2016 8:47 AM

Wikileaks isn't really getting any more or less play in the MSM than it was before this. I'm not expecting to hear anything new about this investigation before the election. Also, I believe Hillary and Co. when they say that they have no idea what the FBI has found on this laptop. That's consistent with how careless they've been through this entire email saga.

Anonymous The OASF November 01, 2016 8:48 AM

"But hang on - one more piece: guess who will be deciding whether or not to take any legal action at all regarding those emails? Answer: the most corrupt Justice Department in the history of the United States who also just happen to be totally rock solid Hillary supporters"

This is nonsense. As Pitchfork Pat noted today in his most recent column, it's only a matter of time before the dredged "Independent Prosecutor" is let out to play.

Anytime a conspiracy theory becomes too elaborate I become suspicious of it. Comey's announcement by itself generated so much bad press for Hillary that I doubt she would want it. Plus the press does seem to be turning on Hillary. Plus her camp is acting desperate. Plus Obama would go along to some extent, and that would be, at the least, to condemn Comey with faint praise. I hope the fix is in and Hillary is done.

You know in the heat of this stuff is is possible to forget that sometimes a person is as bad as the other side claims, and Hillary is that bad. Let's hope that bitch is finished. And Trump. Hey, long live Trump and let's hope he makes a half-assed decent president. Better than what we have had in recent years.

Now, why would Obama put in a good word for Comey? My interpretation of his statement is that it was a signal to the media and the entire Democratic Party that he is hanging Hillary, and by extension the whole Clinton machine, out to dry

Could be an out and out deal, but maybe it is expectations. Obama figures if he greases the rails for Trump right at the end and gives him free access to all the lessor figures, Trump will let him slide. Which Trump should do. Even though it would be fun for some of us, we really should not get into prosecuting former Presidents. Obama and Bill get a pass from me, for the same reason Ford pardoned Nixon.

As a side note, foreigners watching our election must think we are half out of our minds, and maybe we are.

I agree with the idea that Comey would not have sent that letter to Congress without the approval of Obama. Lynch is feigning heartache due to the previous deal made with Clintons. The question is why now? I do think covering over the Wikileaks dumps is a large part of it. In particular, the notion that Obama not only lied about knowing about Hillary's private email but corresponding with his own private email account.

If everyone knows the public polls are bad (to include the White House), why take the chance that Trump wins and will go through the Clinton email like roto rooter and low & behold find proof that Obama knew all along. Obama, like everyone other previous POTUS, is in worrying about legacy mode. Add to the fact that if anyone doesn't trust Hillary, it would be him after seeing first hand how the Clinton's operate. Everyone thinks American politics will be done with Obama after his term. The question is, is Obama done with American politics after his term? I say no, unfortunately.

Blogger Anchorman November 01, 2016 8:59 AM

My interpretation of his statement is that it was a signal to the media and the entire Democratic Party that he is hanging Hillary, and by extension the whole Clinton machine, out to dry.

When looking for motives, always look at self-interest first.

Clinton, Inc., if elected, becomes the power center. All money will flow to it (moreso than now).

I think Obama wants everyone, especially Dems, to stop talking about Clinton(s) and start talking about Obama's greatness.

He wants the Obama Foundation to get buckets of cash. He wants the best of the speaking gigs. He wants to be the power broken because he's younger, smarter than everyone, and gosh darn it, people like him.

He's tired of hearing about Clinton this and Clinton that. He wants the Dems and media to talk about Obama as the standard for Dem presidents.

Blogger Basil Makedon November 01, 2016 9:00 AM

Color me dubious as well. I see Comey's recent actions as an attempt to head off even worse releases, leaks, etc. by mutinous FBI agents and other investigators on the Weiner probe (/shudder). They aren't going to be able to go through 650k emails by election day and if they did, that would also be suspicious.

Blogger al November 01, 2016 9:00 AM

They sent Huma home from the campaign trail, which wouldn't have happened if they wanted to feign innocence. If we're going to play with very unlikely conspiracy theories, my favorite one to explain the leak is that it was a case of parallel construction undertaken by the patriotic segment of the National Security State that doesn't want to dissolve the nation with free trade and open borders. That would mean some patriotic entity used the Weiner investigation as a plausible explanation for "finding" all the deleted emails that we know the NSA would have had all along.

Anonymous 5343 Kinds of Deplorable November 01, 2016 9:01 AM

The theory doesn't work because the strategy would deliberately collapse Hillary's support (as this morning's polls show) in the hope of having her come back even stronger later. That seems highly unwise so close to the actual election, especially with an electorate that can't be guaranteed to be paying attention when Hillary's second "exoneration" is announced by Comey, some of whom may have voted against her in the interval.

Unless she's actually ahead by double digits, this would be crazy. And if she's ahead by double digits, she doesn't need to do it.

I don't buy it.

Anonymous Darth Dharmakīrti November 01, 2016 9:03 AM

No way. A November 6th exoneration causes a massive voter stampede away from HRC and her obvious corruption as well as a concomitant, unprecedented, raging distrust of the FBI. This theory is too clever by half.

Anonymous The OASF November 01, 2016 9:09 AM

If I'm right, this week will see more and more prominent media figures pulling long faces and declaring that Hillary is unsuitable for the presidency as her poll numbers collapse."

I am going to defer to Occam's Razor on this one. Comey and sycophants et. al. are no longer confident that Hilary is going to walk away with it. So they are preparing to hang her out to dry, just in case. Kind of reminds me how the Iranians turned the American hostages over at almost the precise moment Reagan was to ascend to the big seat.

The mice stop playing real fast when the cat's no longer away.

In this spirit, we may also see the fake polls get thrown out the window and the Trumpslide deluge revealed in all its glory, just as it was revealed for Reagan.

And, come to think of it, the reopened investigation would provide a "credible" excuse to forget about the ridiculously rigged polls up to this point as the true numbers are unveiled - thus preserving mainstream poll credibility for future election rigging attempts. I mean, would it be the first time the FBI worked in cahoots with the media? Ha!

Indeed, history does rhyme.

Blogger Shimshon November 01, 2016 9:09 AM

That's way too convoluted. First, they're not that clever. Second, there is way too much that can go wrong in executing such a plan. Third, the upside is not nearly as great as he thinks.

Obama loses nothing by Hillary's downfall. He even gains by being able to fob his botched legacy on her. Once she's down for good, she would never be a threat to him. My guess is he'll join Trump's golf club and ask for Bill's old locker, once he leaves office. They'll play golf occasionally. Obama will become the new Carter, and his post-presidency reputation will likewise soar.

Anonymous Ernst Junger November 01, 2016 9:10 AM

There is no way the Dems would have orchestrated something like this which has literally taken the wind out of what was left of any Hillary momentum. Nope, this has done real damage and to think it was a purposeful strategy that would lead to a hail mary surge of dem voters at last minute, is either incredibly stupid or just more democrat imagination gone wild/wishful thinking. The queen bitch is bleeding out on TV and into our living rooms.

Anonymous High tech Redneck November 01, 2016 9:10 AM

There is certainly at least one copy of the computer because all of the forensic work is done on an image of the computer, not the original. The question is whether or not someone made unofficial copies of it, and given the circumstances I would be surprised if there aren't any. I also wouldn't be surprised if Trump knew about this a while back since this break came from NYPD.

As for the Dems, I suspect the more intelligent/cunning among them have or will soon decide to cut her adrift since (a) they now have a ready made excuse for losing in Comey, (b) having Trump in office allows them to fight and they probably figure the GOP will help them, (c) getting rid of her clears the field for the next batch of strivers. I suspect there are secretly quite a few Dems who can't wait to see the end of the Clintons.

It's a Reservoir Dogs ending, does the Clinton Crime family have trust in Comey when he goes to the Whitehouse to speak with Obama confidants, do they trust Lynch to abide by their deal from the tarmac.

Since it was a Yahoo account, wasn't Yahoo's email broken into a while ago? Every intelligence operation in the world has the Clinton Crime family's secrets since the people the Clinton Crime family has within it are morons with no self awareness of their own stupidity, they are the world's prime example of Dunning - Kruger in action.

Anonymous Darth Dharmakīrti November 01, 2016 9:13 AM

I also wouldn't be surprised if Trump knew about this a while back since this break came from NYPD.

Cernovich tweeted around the beginning of the month (right when, according to the WSJ article, the FBI discovered the cache) that the 33,000 had been recovered. If he knew it, presumably from contacts in or near law enforcement, it's certain that Trump did as well.

Blogger Anchorman November 01, 2016 9:13 AM

They sent Huma home from the campaign trail, which wouldn't have happened if they wanted to feign innocence.

I always circle back to the steps you need to take to archive 650,000 emails. It doesn't happen automatically. It can't happen accidently.

Either Weiner did it as leverage - and they're scared of what he might have

or

She kept it as "Get Out of Jail Free" card if she was ever exposed as a foreign agent or thrown under the bus by the Clintons. There's no way you work that closely with the Clintons and don't get the sense that they'll destroy you if expedient.

I don't buy this take. The reaction by team Clinton -- benching Human, Carville et al KGB meltdowns, etch... -- doesn't look like a group orchestrating a tactical defense. Moreover it seems like WikiLeaks is getting more play rather than less.

Most importantly perhaps, this more closely associates Hillary with an Arnold Horschack look a like perv. Surely they wouldn't willingly walk into that.

Anonymous DreadIlkZee November 01, 2016 9:21 AM

It actually helps obama if Hillary falls. He just needs to goe with it claiming he was dupped and trusted them. The misteps of his administration can then be layed on hir and she becomes the escapegoat.

OpenID rufusdog November 01, 2016 9:23 AM

That was painful to read.

Maybe Comey is just doing his job, quite possibly poorly, but just his job none the less.

Maybe Clinton and Co. aren’t competent and didn’t destroy the emails as well as they thought.

Seems to me, watching the liberal media, they are now blathering on about Trump and his taxes again, full court press to move off the FBI investigation, they certainly aren’t focusing on it. If they are talking about it the context is Comey now being a bad actor.

I realize around these parts wiki-leaks carries more weight than the FBI, but for the vast majority of voters, you know grandma and grandpa, it’s the reverse.

So, Clinton and Company wanted the investigation to get opened back up and plastered all over the news…that helps her…LOL.

I totally see it now, so tricky!

Everything...and I mean EVERYTHING that is ever stored in electronic form can be (and if important in any way, WILL BE) put up figuratively on a Billboard sooner or later.

Corporations figured this out a long time ago; there are a slew of discussions that NEVER take place in written form---NEVER. The paradox of living in glass houses today is that no government conspiracy larger than a couple of participants will remain out of sight for long, because the state is not a monolith. It is made up of factions within factions.

High politicians and their sycophants are all COMPROMISED. No one is allowed to reach high office (or high influence) without there being some means to twist their arms; this is why so many of them are pedophiles, it's the easiest, biggest sledge hammer to hold over their heads. This is part of why being queer is normed. It lost its ability to destroy politicians who were "compromised" by being homos. (See Congressman Barney Fag's history for the exemplar.)

This is why they discuss criminal activity on email. They don't see any risk to adding to their list of crimes. As long as they're in power, they're untouchable. As megalomaniacs, they can't imagine being kicked from power, and if they are, the sledge hammers will fall anyway.

Wikileaks will always exist, even if the NSA has to create another one. It's simply a tool by which one faction of the Deep State competes with its Deep State competitors.

This year's election is more than the rise of White Identity. It also reflects an invisible war within the Deep State.

Anonymous Bellator Mortalis November 01, 2016 9:24 AM

That's what I originally wrote, but I wasn't certain that was the case and I didn't bother looking it up. The logic holds regardless.

It's called the writing on the wall, and at some point it cannot be ignored. The antics of Comey, Lynch, Obama, Hillary et al are musical chairs. They are arranging who sits where, and there is no chair for Hillary.

Anonymous Darth Dharmakīrti November 01, 2016 9:30 AM

Since we're engaging in rampant conspiracy-theorizing, I'll add my own.

Consider that, as VD and many others have noted, Hillary's campaign has been acting terrified for the past two weeks plus. The lulzy ABC +12 polling lead vanished within days. It's therefore a relatively safe bet that her internals have shown her down, possibly WAY WAY down, for a while.

Since senior DNC officials presumably have access to those terrifying internals one way or another, it's safe to assume that they know the ship is going down. So while the Hillary campaign and her shills in the media are screaming bloody murder at Comey, Obama and all the top brass (except Donna "dindu dat leak" Brazile) within the DNC are content to say, like Eric Holder did: he's a good man but I disagree with his decision--and leave it at that.

This creates a narrative, that Hillary lost because the FBI threw the election to Trump, along the lines of "selected not elected." Since they knew she was going to lose anyway, this allows them to concede as little ground as possible.

Blogger Mr.MantraMan November 01, 2016 9:30 AM

Anonymous Joe Blowe November 01, 2016 9:31 AM

Comey isn't any kind of hero. He is just acting under orders from his boss. It's a pretty good bet that Trump's intelligence network, which includes FBI and NSA men, has copies of all of those damning emails. As the Wikileaks release has shown Obama is up to his neck in the whole affair. Trump made a deal with Obama: throw the bitch under the bus and my new AG will let you skate. Its the Art of the Deal.

Once firmly ensconced in the Oval Office I'd like to see President Trump renege on the deal and drop the hammer on that Commie cocksucker. I want to see the full CIA/FBI work up on his background. We know almost nothing about him including who his real parents are.

Anonymous Bz November 01, 2016 9:31 AM

That video looked like the WH throwing Clinton under the proverbial bus. Was the spokesman actually smiling?

Note that it seems likely that the emails would have used DKIM, a standard email digital signature technology, to provide tamper detection. In that case, it will be readily apparent and verifiable to a third party (such as NYPD, or others) whether the emails are altered or unaltered.

Blogger Shimshon November 01, 2016 9:38 AM

Re the enormous quantity of emails, I've speculated that rather than lots of dups, it may be an entire mirror of the complete email history of Hillary's private server. Huma's emails, plus Hillary's, and whomever else made use of the server. Huma was so close to Hillary she must've had admin access to the server (whether she or Weiner is behind it is a different matter). I've been using GMail since 2004, and my entire corpus is under 90K emails (much of that is list activity). Such a quantity indicates a server archive, not just a single user's. Even a prolific emailer would have hard time topping that (and in years less time). Hillary acknowledges around 60K from 2009-13, right?

Blogger modsquad November 01, 2016 9:39 AM

"Release the emails, don't release the emails, by the way what's in the emails?..."

The whole email thing is a distraction from the real elephant in the room... the Clinton Foundation. The Clinton Foundation is a Bribery Foundation where foreign money lives in exchange for a chance to control U.S. policy. When the NYPD got a hold of Weiner's computer, they found Huma's trail of crumbs between the CF and foreign governments. When the NYPD started to open their own investigation, the FBI put up a roadblock on that and restarted the engine on Hillary's private server.

Comey going public again about emails is the magician's left hand trying to distract you from looking at his right... the outright graft, bribery and money laundering going on with the Clinton Foundation.

Blogger G-S. November 01, 2016 9:42 AM

Obama is keeping himself clean of the whole affair. He only has 8-11 days left - why would he get involved. Obama recognizes that Comey at least partially tries to stay non-partisan in a very partisan world.

Clinton was pissed with Comey. She'll get rid of him ASAP if she wins. There is no collusion or love between them.

The Assange leaks have nothing to do with how the FBI chose to deal with Weiners laptop. Comey likely was pushed by other FBI higher-ups who lean republican and knew they could persuade Comey to release something/anything related to the laptop and Clinton - and that sensational headlines could be wrought from the nothing that was offered.

The average pencil neck in Hillary's cabal probably sends 20k emails a year. A cache of 650k emails means we're talking about the 4 year output of at least half a dozen people.

Blogger dc.sunsets November 01, 2016 9:52 AM

@38, the Clinton Foundation is simply the latest generation of pay-for-play operative in US political systems for generations. It is (possibly) the apotheosis of political graft, but it is only so by degree, not by core function.

In a shift from Pathological Trust (PT) to Pathological Distrust (PD), every institution common to the polity must be divided (and destroyed.) The process by which this occurs is two-fold:
1. Gangrenous corruption established under the umbrella of PT has to emerge into the Light of Collective Visual Space (where before people couldn't look at it, under DT it will be all they can see.)
2. The people who depend upon those institutions, who own or manage or populate them, will actively destroy the credibility of the system.

The US Federal Government is the single largest, most invasive institution in North America, and possibly the world. By the time of Peak Distrust in coming years, it will be universally reviled. Only after the phoenix is burned to ash can another phoenix sprout in its place.

Blogger dc.sunsets November 01, 2016 9:54 AM

My point is that a thorough investigation of the Clinton Foundation would undoubtedly reveal that political corruption saturates every corner of Washington DC already, that every Administration going back decades is complicit and that the gangrene infests every organ of the state.

We're not ready for that realization....yet.

Anonymous Bz November 01, 2016 9:57 AM

I wouldn't be too surprised by 650,000 emails over a number of years, even if it is a lot. It's not unusual to get a few hundred emails per day if you're a middle manager somewhere, and this is someone near the top of it all. Abedin probably got CC:d onto a lot of droning discussions.

Anonymous Undocumented Civilizationalist November 01, 2016 9:59 AM

And, come to think of it, the reopened investigation would provide a "credible" excuse to forget about the ridiculously rigged polls up to this point as the true numbers are unveiled

...And speak of the devil! That ABC/Washington Post poll that had Hillary up 12 points 2 weeks or so ago, has Trump up 1 point this morning, even with a D+10 sample. Lol.

Blogger Cataline Sergius November 01, 2016 9:59 AM

The White House had only two options with regards Comey.

(A)Support.

(B)Denounce.

If the White House went with B. Comey would have to resign. That is all there is to it, he could not function as head of the FBI under those circumstance.

That would be a complete disaster for Hillary.

Comey would be perfectly free to say whatever he wanted to at that point and the Emails would start leaking immediately.

Going with plan (A) while demonstrating the feeble power of a lame-duck president, was also the safest route for the Democrats at this point.

Blogger dc.sunsets November 01, 2016 10:01 AM

The hard part for me to embrace is that not all of the Deep State's actors are (in my value system) bad guys. Each person is still a human being, and certainly not every one of them is a sociopath (they seem to leave that to the figureheads they put up in the facade of the political pageant.)

It's all a huge cycle. I try to maintain confidence born of capability. I (and my sons) may not anticipate every threat in coming years, but generally speaking it is the dull-witted and the ideologically blinded who stand like frozen statues when survival requires one to simply duck.

Blogger OGRE November 01, 2016 10:03 AM

If the Weiner emails are an auto-backup, auto-sync for both of them coming from all their devices, I could easily see it hitting that many in a few years. Might contain a lot of unfiltered spam in addition to personal and work emails.

Anonymous Ivan Throne November 01, 2016 10:04 AM

A few observations...

First, I concur with Vox on a number of fronts. Suffice it to say that Hanlon's razor cuts through the conspiracy theory quite well, in addition to the unnecessary complexity of the theory being impracticable.

That said, there are several points that I find indisputable:

1. These people despise, loathe and envy each other, and are not natural allies. The king lays dying. The new sovereign is in doubt, with an anoited heir unable to grasp power with solid hand and nervously radiating an aura of angry, frightened incompetence.

There is a better contender for the throne.

2. Unredacted, secured copies of these emails are a given.

What is the first thing you do with evidence? Preserve it. How is such evidence most readily useful? Influence, compulsion and insurance, where prosecution is deferred.

If one wishes to ascribe complex motivations, I would say that Comey has far more to gain - from far simpler purposes and with vastly less complicated coordination - by merely positioning himself as the honorable tool of the new Trump Justice Department as it dismantles and smashes the prior regime.

The axe and block may be virtual these days, but the principle remains the same:

The King is dead. Long live the King.

Senior courtiers understand this well.

Regards,

Ivan

Going over the Clinton Foundation will probably make very clear the pay-for-play that we all know has been going on. So it won't be too surprising to some of us, but we might learn of the precise favours being traded, how the haggling is done, etc.

If documents do ooze forth, it will, however, be quite interesting to learn of the bankers' role in greater detail. (Or have they been clever enough to stay out of electronic trouble this time?)

I am going to defer to Occam's Razor on this one.

Same here. There's been a serious lack of it in this election, with so many people inventing elaborate theories to fit the facts into their preconceived, tabloid-created image of Trump and the kind of people who support him, instead of the other way around.

Saying "Look, we weren't guilty of this one crime, so there!" right before the election isn't a kill-shot. It's not even a squirt gun. And what about the early voting that the Hillary/NeverTrump people kept bragging had already made a Trump win impossible? Does that logic no longer apply, now that Hillary might be the one needing a last-minute comeback?

Hillary sees Obama as an interloper who prevented her from assuming the presidency when it was "her" turn.

I'm sure Obama returns the disdain. After all, from his perspective the Clintons are just a couple of hacks in it for the money and power. Obama strikes me as a true believer. A true believer who, unlike the useful idiots, see the Clintons for what they truly are.

Anonymous Ron November 01, 2016 10:13 AM

Obama certainly is invested in this race, and he wants Hillary to win. If Trump wins he will expose Obama's corruption and incompetence on probably a weekly basis for the first couple years of his presidency.

Obama is a very fragile person that is easily offended. The last thing he wants is for Trump all over tv mocking him and pointing out his mistakes. Trump will have the media in his hands while Obama will rarely have full access to the media as he does now, he won't be able to refute what Trump says as easily as he can now.

If Hillary wins, all of his failures stay relatively hidden, and he goes virtually uncriticized. Obama and his gorilla wife desperately want a Clinton victory.

Blogger Ron Winkleheimer November 01, 2016 10:14 AM

So, it Hillary wins Obama loses control of the Democrat party. If she loses, he retains control.

So Obama has motive to prevent Hillary from winning. However, it has to be done in such a manner that he is not perceived to have done so.

I have to admit - the thought of the Clinton Machine and the Democrat Party being blown up by Obama is downright marvelous. It would almost make putting up with his sorry ass for 8 years worth it. Almost. The thought that Trump might be able to dramatically disrupt the R Party as a go-along-to-get-along party at the same time is positively delicious. Interesting times, indeed.

There is a good case that could be made that Wiener leaked things he knew wouldn't be bad to cover up news of voter fraud especially with crooked investigators.

They aren't going to be able to go through 650k emails by election day and if they did, that would also be suspicious.

Thanks to affirmative action they probably couldn't go thru all the emails with the word Epstein in them by election day.

I always circle back to the steps you need to take to archive 650,000 emails. It doesn't happen automatically. It can't happen accidently

I would go with they had someone set up their devices to sync but were not smart enough to contain it.

this is Bill selling access to Hillary as SecState ( and nominal future president ) DISGUISED AS 'speaking fees'.

nothing the Clintons do can stop the Obamas from implementing the same schema.

Ask yourself: What is Obama's one actual skill? Winning elections.

He started as a kid, schmoozing himself into winning the election for the Harvard Law Review editor, a prestige position. He worked his way up in Chicago politics. (He was only beaten once.) He taught constitutional election law and voter law at the University of Chicago. He knows all the polling, he uses the levers of the press and the courts, he uses all the Master Persuader tricks in his own style.

He did some campaigning for Hillary but mostly talked about himself. Michelle was more effective such as it was, but she couldn't polish the turd. Stories are out about how Hillary's team tried to get the Obamas onto their message and the Obamas laughed - who knows how to win an election better than us? This is lame.

Facta non verba. Deeds not words. Watch what people do, not what they say.

Many people have noted how frantic the news media was getting - how they weren't acting like Hillary was really up +12. How shrill and panicked, because they like everyone else in the know know that the polls will shift to the pollsters final guess at reality just before the election. Pebbles began to shift for various reasons - Trump's performance at debates 2 and 3, some truly killer speeches at rallies, highly available links at the Drudge Report.

Obama wasn't the first pebble to hop, but he was arguably the most skilled person out there at the particular skill of winning US Presidential elections and he decided Hillary can't make it and there's nothing he can do to make it so.

A falling camel attracts many knives.

Agreed. Comey covered his ass. He is a straight-up corrupt Imperial City cuck and is engaged in self-preservation. If he felt secure and it was in his best interest, an announcement would be made tomorrow the investigation had concluded and closed--but that would be too Banana Republic even for the Banana Empire (I think). There just were too many other FBI and NYPD eyes that fixed on Weiner's computer to liquidate all of them.

Lynch is feigning heartache due to the previous deal made with Clintons. The question is why now?

Exactly. Lynch is much dirtier than Comey. She is doing her best Mark Anthony. None of us know why that is. Bear in mind she would have to agree to any prosecution by a United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, or sign off on any grand jury being empaneled.

I'm more interested in Lynch's corrupt ass than any other figure involved right now outside of the perps Clinton, Huma, and Weiner.

Avalanche - "HOW can anyone with a nano-iota of computer sense not be outraged?!" Because they have a vested interest in keeping the (corrupt) gravy train running. It is relatively easy to overlook incompetence or arrogance or stupidity when you personally benefit, and looking into the belly of the actual beast is scary because you have no apparently viable alternative. They accept it because they don't see any choice.

That's quite a Rube Goldberg machine he's proposing.

And it hinges on an intelligent and observant electorate hanging on the Words of Truth from the news media up to the last minute before they go vote - while assuming that early voters are a low enough percentage to be safely ignored in the election outcome.

I wish the other side was that bad at running a campaign!

I think Hillary can’t believe she might not make it.

I've been thinking back to the beginning of the Iraq Attack, when there were reports of intercepted Iraqi communications where Saddam was yelling at his generals to launch the nukes and other weapons that they just didn't have. Assuming that wasn't all made up by Bush's people, it seems Saddam's subordinates had been painting him a complete mirage of a weapons program. Considering Hillary is surrounded by other SJWs and has a habit of reacting badly to people who displease her, it's not hard to imagine the same thing happening to her, with her people telling her what she wants to hear, so she has no idea what's really going on. Makes me wonder what they tell her to explain a couple dozen people showing up for a rally -- or maybe she's deluded enough too that she doesn't see them.

Obama may not be very smart, but he's smart and self-interested enough to see the writing on the wall: there's a good chance either he or Hillary will end up being used as a scapegoat for the other. Because she's not in power yet, he can strike first now; and he can do it by doing nothing except sitting back and acting neutral while investigations go forward. Seems like the best move he can make.

This is one of the more poorly constructed conspiracy theories I've read lately. It's even less believable than Kyle Odom's claim that he was being tormented by Martians.

VD is right. Evidence that Obama is hanging Hillary out to dry can be seen by the fact that he no longer follows her on twitter. Can't get much more public than that.

Anonymous Trimegistus November 01, 2016 12:06 PM

Think about this from Obama's perspective. If Hillary! wins, Barack has nothing to look forward to but a state funeral in twenty or thirty years.

But if she loses . . . then he can remain the unofficial God-King of the Democrats. He can weigh in on all the issues with empty platitudes and accusations of racism. He can rake in big speaking fees because nobody will need to give the Clintons any more payoffs.

There is literally no downside for Obama if Hillary! loses.

So, I was predicting that "Nukes from Orbit"(tm) would be launched today. You can go back and search, I suppose.

Harry Reid's unhinged statements about Russian ties were meant to be a signal -- media, please strike now. Except, it's a big freaking nothing burger. This is them pulling the hyperdrive lever on the Millennium Falcon and having it spin out.

EVERYONE already believes that Trump does everything he can to minimize his taxes. No one cares. No one believes that he's controlled by the KGB (which doesn't exist anymore, and is called the FSB).

Moreover, do they really think that HRC can survive mutually assured destruction on these issues -- tax compliance and Russian connections (U235 anyone)? They really are the worst at this.... Let me put on my lawyer hat. I don't ask for someone's privilege log unless mine is ready to go. I don't pound on my high chair about documents or interrogatories unless mine are already spotless. I don't pick fights that I haven't already won before I start them.

I'm just not sure tax returns has the juice the DC crowd thinks it does.

In the red (as in Soviet) corner, wearing the Dr. Evil suit, we have a former bureaucrat who broke so many laws on the job that some of them might be used to cover up for others, and we're told if we try to talk about them all, we'll just confuse people. In addition, the evidence is tied into a child molester scandal with hints that that might go much further.

In the blue corner, wearing the red-white-and-blue trunks and MAGA hat, we have a businessman who used the taxman's convoluted pile of rules to his advantage wherever he could.

This make way more sense than most other theories. Clinton isn't trustworthy, plus she's old and sick and who knows who inherits whatever power she acquires. No deal to be made there.

Trump on the other hand is famous for deals.

Blogger Thucydides November 01, 2016 12:22 PM

Too many moving parts is right, and there is also the issue of Obama.

Obama is implicated in the entire email scandal thing, since it is now reasonably well known that he communicated using a pseudonym. There is likely no escaping being tarred with the Hillary/Weiner investigation, so sidestepping as much as possible and letting the FBI turn their full attention against Hillary is the best means of avoiding whatever is coming.

Obama is far too self interested to really care much about the Democrat Party. Now that he has served his two terms there is nothing more *they* can do for him, and there are enough suckers willing to fund his 100+ golf games/year lifestyle for the ret of his natural life, so as far as he is concerned, he owes them nothing. If Michelle Obama had ever had any designs for high office, we would have heard something fairly concrete by now, but she can also live a regal lifestyle of expensive travel and vacations without doing much, so why bother?

Taking the Clintons down may have been a desire, but probably too much effort. Obama was probably smart enough to realize early on that Hubris would destroy Clinton (although not self aware enough to realize Hubris also destroyed his "legacy", and outside of the bubble, most people write hm off as a lightweight, destructive and narcissistic being, not presidential at all).

So the second interesting question is really: what happens to Obama once all the dirt finally comes into the sunlight?

Blogger slarrow November 01, 2016 12:23 PM

It simply strikes me that if you believe your candidate is winning (which the Clinton team ostensibly did during this time frame) and want your candidate to win, you do not attack your candidate 11 days before the election. The kind of attention it draws will not help your candidate win. If you're running a false flag operation, it needs time to play out and set the message well before the home stretch.

There is a term for those who attack their own side just before the big battle. That word is sabotage. We saw it (and will remember) from the GOPe with the Trump Tapes. I don't think this is the same thing coming from the Democrat side, but if it were, it certainly wouldn't break my heart.

You very likely are right, but the media shares the same Nineties mentality as the Clinton campaign, which is so retro it should have a grunge soundtrack. It seems obvious, though, that throwing the returns into the public realm was an aim however misplaced.

Anonymous SaltyDonnie November 01, 2016 12:50 PM

I side more with Vox's take. The emailer sounds TOO conspiratorial (but again, this is the Clintons). I don't think this new development was planned, though the Clintons will try to spin it so that it ends up somewhat how thee mailer lays it out.

But I don't think this was a scheme - I think the subordinate FBI agents stumbled into a gold mine and they bent Comey over with it. Now the Clintons and the MSM are in a panic to do damage control publicly, while behind the scenes try to minimize the ACTUAL, criminal damage. If this was more under their control, they wouldn't be ranting like they are. They would be giving Comey more credibility and treating it somberly and with grace, since they would know the result.

Blogger Mr.MantraMan November 01, 2016 1:12 PM

You want an email update from the tech side of it go to Denninger's blog, or basically the laptop auto synched and then was disconnected from the group while the morons for Hillary Bleachbitted the server leaving all the juicies on the laptop. Of course Karl does a better job than I and Karl is offering to go on the air to explain how Mark Cuban is a liar.

Blogger OGRE November 01, 2016 1:26 PM

If they were using Outlook then they are toast. You can pull up any email ever used on that.

Back when I was in law school a buddy of mine brought his laptop to my house at like 1 am. He thought his wife was cheating on him and wanted to know if I could check for deleted emails that might show something. Now this was in 1999 I think, and I was no expert but I was at least piecing together my computers part by part so I had a little idea of how things worked. It took about five minutes to find a file that stood out...opened it in wordpad...and low and behold there was every email ever sent and received on that machine. And yes there was some indisputable evidence of his wife cheating.

Obama had to publicly back Comey. If he joined the denounce crowd, they'd call for him to fire him. If he fired him, there'd be an energized anti-establishment voter rush like no other and he'd go down forever tarnished. Plus, he hates Hillary.

===========================

I think the DC crowd focuses on taxes because it's a big issue to them and because of Harry Reid's B/S last election. I think they thought that resonated with the electorate. My feeling is if it doesn't register above 40%, it's just a partisan issue people are told to care about.

And the Dems moaning about someone not paying taxes is rich. How many cabinet employees (Treasury Secretary nominee!) ran into trouble over taxes. "I used turbotax, oops!"

It's an issue for them. I consider it a duty to pay as little tax as possible. I deliberately buy online out of state to avoid my state tax.

Anonymous Rather, Not November 01, 2016 3:19 PM

Vox, what do you make of the sudden FBI release of crap on Trump's father, and the probe into Clinton's pardon of (((Rich))) after all those juicy donations. It was interesting that the lawyer who made the call to not charge the Clintons was James Comey. Smells like deep state feud.

Blogger Warren L Ellis November 01, 2016 3:27 PM

There is no need for a rush to judgement on Comey until we have more facts. The erratic actions by Director Comey do not square with his reputation over many years leading up to these events. I agree the Executive BHO has no love lost for the Clinton's as stated in the posting. The perspective of time will provide clarity into what is currently transpiring. Perhaps the Clinton Catch and release in July, the Friday night FBI data dumps and his demeanor towards the criminality was by his own investigative intent. To lure the Clinton machine into a false sense of security, allow them to relax as the worst of the storm had passed only to drop the "reopen" announcement and monitor the cockroaches scampering to get away from the light. Time will tell if Comey is more Nathan Hale or Benedict Arnold. BHO's distancing from HRC in support of the FBI tells me he has a certainty it will not engulf him, his team has a firewall in place or some other nefarious plan is in store.

Comey laid out in clear detail the basis for prosecuting Hillary. And then said, "our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case." You have to understand that by reasonable he means "no one not part of the Clinton crime syndicate who wants to remain alive".

It could easily be argued that since that wasn't sufficient to upset her apple cart he's trying again.

It is very plausible. IMAP runs in the background, vs. POP3 where a client generally is told "Get email from server". So, yeah, Weiner's laptop could be a complete archive of several years of Hillary Rodan Robot's hombrew server.

But I doubt anyone of any significance will go to jail. The SJW converged DOJ will cover for them. We can count on that.

Its especially infuriating that the non Asian minorities that use ambulances as taxies think they are smart.

Even harder is accepting that you've been completely ruined accidentally by people who didn't gain anything from it and don't comprehend what they've done.

When I reported healthcare fraud in a military hospital by explaining to the IG how to find it, I had no idea it would affect the careers of nurses on every floor except the ICUs and other military hospitals. Those 3 pages of explanation was not an accident, but it may have snagged a good person or 2 along with non Asian minorities suffering worse.

It might be late to comment on this but here is Paul Kersey's take on it http://stuffblackpeopledontlike.blogspot.ca/2016/10/84-of-fbi-special-agents-are-white-no-1.html

White people involved in the FBI - for the most part - still believe they are upholding the U.S. Constitution, which means no individual (public or private) is too big to fail.

White people still believe in accountability and personal responsibility; non-whites in power only believe in being accountability to their own racial groups betterment (always at the expense of white people).

Once an institution, be it public or private, is overburdened with non-white employees, a toleration of corruption means a larger vacation for upper-management and bigger bonuses for lower level employees.

Though the electorate does not (and public schools are even worse), the FBI still looks like the historic - founding population - American nation; but the FBI might have inadvertently ensured Donald J. Trump wins on November 8th.

Tinfoil hat sites are saying that NYPD insiders found evidence of ALL the people involved in the Lolitta Express (child molestation and sex trafficking). Lots and lots of bigwigs in government, including both Clintons; and that if the FBI didn't do something, someone in the NYPD would leak everything. But,again, that is tinfoil hat sites.

Blogger Cail Corishev November 02, 2016 12:02 AM

@128, that's completely plausible. Unfortunately, it's plausible because it's happened a few times before: someone gets busted for child prostitution with sides of satanism and murder, the cops grab their records, rumors leak out that big names on both sides of the pond are implicated, and then....nothing. Years later, people wonder what ever happened with all that, and it seems like it just faded away after the original perps were convicted (or not).

I suspect the only way that won't keep happening is if someone does just dump it all out to the public instead of trying to handle it by the book in-house.

Anonymous Slippery November 02, 2016 3:40 AM

Obama is just hoping Comey follows orders and leaves his name out of the findings. Obama will go to great lengths to maintain party unity, but not at the expense of his imagined legacy.
