Media SJWs double down

They'll show that pesky God-Emperor Ascendant just how important they are! Just you watch them!
This is where we are. The President-elect does not care who knows how unforgiving or vain or distracted he is. This is who he is, and this is who will be running the executive branch of the United States government for four years.

The over-all impression of the meeting from the attendees I spoke with was that Trump showed no signs of having been sobered or changed by his elevation to the country’s highest office. Rather, said one, “He is the same kind of blustering, bluffing blowhard as he was during the campaign.”

Another participant at the meeting said that Trump’s behavior was “totally inappropriate” and “fucking outrageous.” The television people thought that they were being summoned to ask questions; Trump has not held a press conference since late July. Instead, they were subjected to a stream of insults and complaints—and not everyone absorbed it with pleasure.

“I have to tell you, I am emotionally fucking pissed,” another participant said. “How can this not influence coverage? I am being totally honest with you. Toward the end of the campaign, it got to a point where I thought that the coverage was all about [Trump’s] flaws and problems. And that’s legit. But, I thought, O.K., let’s give them the benefit of the doubt. After the meeting today, though—and I am being human with you here—I think, Fuck him! I know I am being emotional about it. And I know I will get over it in a couple of days after Thanksgiving. But I really am offended. This was unprecedented. Outrageous!”
So brave! Thank you for this! Now, why weren't you willing to say it publicly, under your own name again?

Trump is going to steamroll these guys. He's given them fair warning that it is not going to be business as usual and they STILL don't see it coming.

Three cheers for the Trumpenfuhrer!

They can't go any more negative on Trump because they are already seen as biased, so there is no downside for Trump. Might just as well flip them the bird.

The media has an off the record meeting with DJT which, in theory, means that they can't talk about it. So they talk about to others in the media anonymously.

They deserved that dressing down. They went in thinking they were going to be supplicated and were made to eat a big plate of humble pie. The problem is that they were so in bed with the Big O and the Lizard Queen that they can't look themselves in the face and realize that they are all liars, hypocrites and shills.

If he did he would get even more popular. These people have zero self-awareness. They just got their asses kicked by an open source insurgency that took out the entire political establishment, their entire business model, and completely changes the future of political campaigns. When Trump points this out the them they get their asses chapped and vow revenge. How? They gonna call him Hitler some more?

I know I am being emotional about it. And I know I will get over it in a couple of days after Thanksgiving.

This quote is awesome. I imagine a blubbery swamp beast of indeterminate sex wolfing down scoops of chocolate ice cream over Thanksgiving, bawling its eyes out in front of a Lifetime Original Movie while "recovering" from the emotional damage inflicted upon it by the God Emperor.

Also, this is what happens when you attack with reckless abandon, show no restraint, and lose.

What is their threat here? "Give in to us, or we will continue smearing you non-stop the way we have for the past 16 months?"

I'm surprised that Trump didn't ask them to sign a NDA upon entering the conference room. I mean what's the point of a off record meeting if the participant blab to their friend as soon as they leave.

I sense that Trump fully anticipate this, and want to send his message loud and clear, and this is the full intent of the meeting.

Anonymous Silly but True November 22, 2016 10:57 AM

Cernovich is right, Trump should disband the press pool.

Obama funtionally did by only allowing them access to what he wanted them to see. Trump should end the charade. What he gains from the media windstorm would be worth way more than he would ever lose. They need him, not the other way around.

As logically sound as demanding that the MSM disavow BLM rioters, pedo Bill & corrupt Hillary, calls for WW3 with Russia, or David Duke (a KKK democrat), Gawker, etc. etc.

Trump doesn't owe them anything.

FDR went around the press via the radio with his "Fireside Chat" speeches. Trump is going around the press with his tweets, went around the press coverage with YouTube livestreams of campaign speeches.

Media profits are down, way down, and the editor of the Atlantic doubles down by saying. "Well, we're really going to smear him, now!" as if that wasn't the primary plan before. At this rate some of the major organs of the Swamp could Gawkerize themselves in the next 18 months.

We all know what the odds are they they can change to actually report anything close to the truth. If he keeps them pissed enough at him they will never let it rest. They will keep attacking over every little ridiculous thing until even the most biased leftists are ashamed, whether they admit it or not.

Anonymous krymneth November 22, 2016 11:03 AM

I like the thought that he may have threatened them with reclassifying them as PACs after the Wikileaks revelations. But even failing that, either the news media becomes more fair after this, or they go ballistic as they go from mostly-faked outrage to real red-in-the-eyes full on outrage when their mostly-faked outrage was already over the top and pushing Americans away.

I wonder how long the media will persist in getting put into these lose-lose-lose-lose situations for themselves. They aren't all going to go down that way... at some point, someone is going to get selfish, see the cash, and flip. But that may well be a couple of years away, and only after a lot of bankruptcies. If nothing else they'll be forcibly sold to someone who will see the cash opportunities.

What's the time between press conferences that they are OK with? Isn't it 275 days? Why, Mr. Trump is just doing other things - for example, I'm sure Breitbart can get an interview anytime they would like. It was OK for Hillary.

And somebody mentioned - not only did Obama restrict them and decide that the independent press was no longer required at major historical events - he replaced them with a state-run propaganda YouTube channel, and they were totally OK with that.

They accepted irrelevance when they permitted Obama to pick and choose only friendly outlets instead of Fox News in 2009. Fox News deserved it, of course, with how Bush and Tony Snow treated Les Kinsolving once the angry old Lebanese battle axe was finally gone.

What, weren't you paying attention 8 years ago to the Office of the President Elect? Shame! Shame on you!

Look, the journo-lists want access to the President, so they want access to the President Elect. Trump doesn't need them, though. So far it looks like the journo-lists don't really understand the Art of the Deal.

Maybe if there was, like, a book on the topic they could read it and learn something? Well, if they could read.

Slightly OT: Conway has stated that Trump will NOT pursue charges against the Lizard Queen. There's already a quick building chorus saying this is a broken promise, but there's some healthy speculation of it being a head fake to prevent Dear Leader from attempting to pardon her before the inauguration.

Well of course he's not going to prosecute her now. He's not officially in office, yet, nor has he been properly elected by the Electoral College in order to be prepared for inauguration. As others have mentioned, there's a significant long game being played here. And oddly enough it ties in with the ass-handing he gave the media types yesterday.

Optically, his move makes sense. She's already down, no need to stomp on her skull (even though logic clearly dictates it needs to happen). There's too much focus on who's being invited to the party, anyways. Let everyone focus on that for now. Guarantee you that aside from the initial case, there's still more than enough to put her away if and when the time is necessary.

Besides, it's only a matter of time before Podesta and his horde of diabolical pizza diddlers get hauled in. Let those folks do their job (and God bless them for that) and don't worry about it. Again, long game here, folks.

Until Trump gives me a reason to think he's full of it, I'm going to trust his play.

Borrowing from AnonymousConservative for a sec - Trump loves hitting these guys by violating their expectations in the most bombastic way. So right now, Hillary is on fumes. Full panic. Then Trump throws her what appears to be a lifeline.

If this the moment then that her surrogates want to go full in on attacking Trump on the electors? Maybe things are survivable for Hillary, and she should take the out. Does Obama want to throw out a pardon that looks irrelevant and puts him into this sordid tale?

And then some time next April, Hillary is having a seizure inside a prison cell and wondering where it all went so horribly wrong.

"After the meeting today, though—and I am being a weasel with you here—I think,"

Fixed it for him. Their so engrossed in their own vision of what we should think they don't even bother to examine their actions "Toward the end of the campaign, it got to a point where I thought that the coverage was all about [Trump’s] flaws and problems. And that’s legit. But, I thought, O.K., let’s give them the benefit of the doubt." They are so self-righteous in giving us their vision - Hillary as president and damn any obstacles. Only problem is, enough people woke up this election to their full bore support of one side, that they were a greater influence NOT to vote for Hillary than they were to support her.

@37 - Maybe, maybe not. He's a troll-master far above my level of understanding. But if his justice department starts nuking from orbit people around her, planting shape-charges, cluster bombs, FAEs, and minefields across DC and the corridors of power, and a few start singing like birds trying to lessen their sentence from firing squad for treason to just life without parole, and headlines are absolutely toxic for the Clinton brand, they will be powerless, isolated, and suicidal. If they pass on before he says "with heavy heart, and given no choice in the interests of Justice, we are forced to prosecute them to set the record straight," then he gets the win without it being "just" mean-spirited, politically-motivated payback.

Wait until the public acknowledgement of the evidence is so overwhelming that he is seen bowing to public pressure to start prosecuting. THAT would be an epic win. Sail the harder course when wind and tide are with you. He's got enough fights short term to back-burner that particular item.

But again, this is just speculation, and he's shown himself to be a master of Troll-Fu, so I'll await events to unfold as they will. The Dark Lord has half a thousand VFMs. The Trumpenator has millions. Patience.

Wow, am I behind the times.

I thought that the function of a reporter was to report exactly what the object of their report said and nothing else.

Oh that's right, they're journalists now. Do they know what a journal is, I wonder? A record of one's daily activities, a diary if you will.

So rather than having them report to us, they give us their "Dear Diary" maunderings.

Sad!

Now thinking about pizza,

Imagine a big time pimp (owns his own airplane, etc.) is using pizza and its toppings as code words. It would not be all that over the top to own a small pizzeria for the sake of avoiding suspicions as to why pizza terms come up in conversation. So, he buys this small pizza place but doesn't use it as a storefront for his real business. Thus it has not connection with his illegal activities, other than word use. And who is to say, maybe it even makes some money.

I would ask this craven sniveler in the media about Donald Trump the same question I asked craven snivelers in SFWA about Vox Day: how do you threaten to ostracize a man who is not one of your community? Once you have thrown him out, how do you throw him out again?

After spending endless months calling Donald Trump a Nazi, what are you going to do, O ye bold newsmen of MiniTru?

Call him a NASTY Nazi?

That will show him. He will soon come to heel. Why, he does not want bad press, does he? With your credibility, O newsmen, and the breathless way the myriads of readers wait with bated breath for your pristinely fearless and shockingly honest and impartial coverage, he would not dare offend so well respected an institution as the mainstream news media...

On the other hand, there is some amusement value in seeing a slatternly whore trying to remember how to look offended and summon a blush of sacred maidenly shame when a gentleman offers an ungallant comment or fails to scoop up the handkerchief she drops.

Dear news media: if you want to be treated like a virgin, do not copulate with strangers for pay.

Media minds require repatterning to acquite basic decency and regard for the truth. Such repatterning can come about voluntarily by repeating. But being addicted to the power conferred by deceit and betrayal, I foresee thus being done the hard way. And when the gloves come off, no one will feel the slightest sympathy for these fucking snakes.

No commenting option on the article, of course.

> Another participant at the meeting said that Trump’s behavior was “totally inappropriate” and “fucking outrageous.”

We disagree. We think it was completely appropriate. And the fact that you're outraged is a bonus.

> “I have to tell you, I am emotionally fucking pissed,”

Good. Now you know how we've felt for over a year.

> “How can this not influence coverage?

It won't influence coverage at all. You were already completely opposed to him and going to do everything possible to sabotage his administration. There's no point in pretending otherwise; you're not fooling anyone.

> I am being totally honest with you.

I guess it's possible. There's a first time for everything after all. Naw, who am I kidding. He's lying, just as always.

> But I really am offended.

Of course. He's been seeing the media first hand for years. He knows how they work.

> What exactly is the President-elect's leverage over the forth estate?

He's going to be President. They have to cover him. He doesn't have to give them the time of day.

Oh, and I missed this line: "...and I am being human with you here..."

I don't even know what he means by that, but whether he's actually human or not is a debatable point.

Basically the press panjundrums went to Trump tower and expected a meeting where Trump would be locked in with them. He'd have to listen to them, see, because he's locked in with them.

Instead, they found themselves locked in with him.

It occurs to me that there is a way to put the mainstream media in their place that hasnt been tried. Do away with the Whitehouse press corps and start up a Whitehouse online newspaper instead. The MSM could link to it, or use the content for their own stories, but what they couldn't do is "spike" the stories they didn't like. If the MSM bias got too onerous the public could go directly to the primary source for the truth. Other branches of government have newspapers - why shouldn't the Whitehouse?

Anonymous Mr. Rational November 24, 2016 11:30 AM

That's what I've been assuming he's up to.  He's played the enemedia like a fiddle for years, and the more damage they do to themselves the easier it will be to replace them.

You can see them realizing that they are trashing their own brand and ultimately putting themselves out of business, but they are so committed that they put the hammer down on their already-breakneck race to the cliff.  It's breathtaking.
