So-called or self-described

Early days, my friends. Early days. The AP gives the mainstream media its marching orders.
AP: Avoid using 'alt-right' without context

The Associated Press Monday released new guidelines for referencing the "alt-right," which ask that journalists use the term alongside its definition and in context of its association with racist beliefs.

The new guidelines read: "'Alt-right' (quotation marks, hyphen and lower case) may be used in quotes or modified as in the 'self-described' or 'so-called alt-right' in stories discussing what the movement says about itself. Avoid using the term generically and without definition, however, because it is not well known and the term may exist primarily as a public-relations device to make its supporters' actual beliefs less clear and more acceptable to a broader audience."
It should be amusing to see them try to define it in the next set of guidelines. What this indicates, however, is that they've failed to stamp the Alt-Right as either Nazis or White Supremacists, which was their initial attempt to address it. They want to avoid so much as mentioning the term without providing the necessary context, which means framing it to fit their Narrative.

As it is written, SJWs always lie.

Meanwhile, the Romanian and Bulgarian translations of the 16 Points of the Alt-Right have been delivered and posted. We now have more translations than points; don't hesitate to copy them and spread them around the Internet. While the Hoax Media is dithering and deceiving themselves and attempting to marginalize us, we're rapidly expanding across the globe. Those in need of getting up to speed on the Alt-Right may wish to note that one can quickly access all of the Alt-Right-related posts on this blog via the link on the right sidebar below the various translations.

"The AP is a nonprofit news agency and its AP Stylebook standardizes reporting styles such as grammar, punctuation and principles of reporting across the U.S."

Since when is directing the definition a principle of reporting? Almost sounds like non-profit AP is getting into political speech, haranguing from its pulpit.

If I were unsure whether the alt-right "brand" was too damaged to continue using, the Old Media's continued desperate attack on it with shaming and divide-and-conquer tactics would settle the issue.

"the term may exist primarily as a public-relations device to make its supporters' actual beliefs less clear and more acceptable to a broader audience"

Yes, because *we're* the ones always hiding our unpopular beliefs. What is that other thing SJWs do, besides lie and double down?

By the way, the term exists, I think, to differentiate the group from the mainstream right and Conservatism, Inc. Which is an honest and noble pursuit.

Fuzzy Logic is a brilliant insight into iterative processes.

Use it to your advantage. Like a definition of pornography. Any woman for example who isn't dressed head to toe in a black hijab is obviously inviting rape. Alt-righters are probably under their beds right now giving Nazi salutes. Witch hunters unite. They nearly drove us underground.

The lügenpresse's main job is to be language police for the left.

Obama: “That’s the key they tell us. We can’t beat ISIL unless we call them radical Islamists. What exactly would using this label accomplish? What exactly would it change?”

Answer: Because lies from evil bastards like you can easily mislead the credulous and uninformed.

Will the scribblers be applying this ridiculous "so-called" label across the board to ratchet up disapproval for anything they want to delegimise?

Will we be getting "so-called fake news" then? I'm sure that would work. It would also be the first one to be accurate.

Anonymous SciVo de Plorable November 29, 2016 4:06 AM

Oh. And when they go to sift through all the self-definitions, looking for whichever one would repel normies the most, they will find one that breaks their paradigm by being pan-national -- and that also forces its way to the front through sheer quantity of translations.

I like strategy games, but I'm not really all that good. And you did it in real life.

I finally get it. Well done.

The new guidelines read: "'Alt-right' (quotation marks, hyphen and lower case) may be used in quotes or modified as in the 'self-described' or 'so-called alt-right' in stories

And do note in particular that the term 'alt-right' is not to be capitalized unless it begins a sentence.

stories discussing what the movement says about itself.

New physics. Someone at AP has discovered that a movement can speak all by itself. What were they sitting on when they found this out?

Blogger JP November 29, 2016 4:16 AM

I should have that translation done in the next 24 hours or so.

Blogger VoodooJock November 29, 2016 4:19 AM

These people have been hanging labels on people for at least the last 50 years. Doesn't surprise me that they're bogging themselves down with what to label a movement that is as indefinable as the alt-right.

Ultimately, the label doesn't matter. The movement is going to be what it's going to be independent of a label that's hung on it because words do not matter in a situation where human nature reigns supreme.

Blogger Doom November 29, 2016 4:46 AM

The alt-right has the cojones to play at this language game too...

'Do you see a nazi under every bed, under every rock, behind every tree ??? Do you consider anyone with whom you even slightly disagree to be Hitler ??? If so, then you have a condition called "nazimania", and should see a doctor immediately." (Note: the only cure is the red pill.)'

Blogger Sillon Bono November 29, 2016 5:29 AM

The Alt-Right is too variate to be put on a peg square, they will not succeed on that front.

We have the truth and we're reasonable and willing to reason, our models describe reality better.

It is a matter of time that "our" culture permeates everything, it is evident to anybody with two-three neurons interconnected that history is on our side.

Even if we were to be identified and isolated (I laugh at such proposition) they will not achieve much, the horses left the stable a long time ago.

They on the other hand; their "derangeness" both political and social has painted them on a corner and are easy to point a finger at. We're like waldo, they are like the proverbial Elephant in the room.

The only problem the Alt-Right has is that we need to Red Pill more people, which is just a matter of time.

Then let us move our position into something everyone, especially the middle, can relate to.

Something like Viability Party, Transparency Party, Sustainability Party.

The alt-right ideals of small government, accountable politicians, limited foreign intervention appeals to many, bypasses nationalism badfeelz.

The alternative is to continue hammering back and wearing down the legacy media lies.

Both work for me.

Alt right is about changing the culture, not directly wielding power. Our goal is not to move to the middle, but to move the middle towards us. Moderation will not do this. We must smash their false idols, break their taboos, topple their false gods, invert their values and desecrate all they find sacred.

Blogger Jack Ward November 29, 2016 7:38 AM

Screw not capitalizing the R. For me its

Alt-Right

Notice the not-so-subtle lower case R that denotes that the descriptive of which Alt you are referring to is lower case; thus, lower in value, lower status, less important.
Screw AP and their style guidelines.

If we call ISI(L/S) radical Islamists then we can beat them.
We don't call ISI(L/S) radical Islamists.

AP cannot control things outside the Mediaverse, and we already know the true power of Alt Media, Social Media and the Internet.

Simply overwhelm them by making the popular usage Alt-Right, and whenever someone or something tries to use the framing trick (quote marks and "their" interpretation of what Alt-Right means), loudly object with "that's not what Alt Right means; do your research!

The implicit meaning of the challenge is they don't know what they are talking about, and anyone whereas the comments, listens to radio or TV needs to look up Alt Right on their own. True, some of them will fail to find true Alt Right in their suburbs, but the sheer act of searching will expose them to new ideas and ways of doing things.
