Encouraging the others

Sorry, Jack, no seat for you at the table:
As we reported earlier, Trump sat down with top tech executives, including several of his sharpest critics, to mend fences after a divisive election in which virtually all of Silicon Valley backed Hillary Clinton. Trump was heading into hostile territory - with the exception of PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, Silicon Valley shunned the New York billionaire during the presidential campaign, throwing their weight behind his Democratic rival Clinton.

The tech talks, convened by Trump, bought together numerous CEOs such as Tim Cook of Apple, Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Larry Page of Alphabet (Google) and Brian Krzanich of Intel, among others. In addition to Trump nemesis Jeff Bezos, also on the guest list are Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, Facebook's chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg and Oracle chief executive Safra Catz.

We now know the answer why Dorsey was MIA: according to Politico, Twitter was told it was "bounced" from Wednesday's meeting between tech executives and President-elect Donald Trump in retribution for refusing during the campaign to allow an emoji version of the hashtag #CrookedHillary, according to a source close to the situation.
Play fair or be frozen out. The God-Emperor hasn't even Ascended yet and he's already laying down the law. It's going to be interesting to see how the Trump administration wields the IRS once it assumes control.

And, in the meantime:
Officials at FBI headquarters instructed its New York field office to continue its corruption investigation into the Clinton Foundation following the election of Republican candidate Donald Trump, according to a former senior law enforcement official.

The instructions ordered agents to “go forward” with their ongoing inquiry into the Clinton Foundation which is focusing on issues of corruption and money laundering, according to the source.

“There were no instructions to shut it down, to discontinue or to stand down on the investigation, but to continue its work,” the former official told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an interview.

Going from memory - The campaign wasn't just 'not allowed', they set it up, had it approved, and were ready to roll when a top exec personally nixed it right before the first debate. The tried again, same deal, but this time Jack himself killed it. Sorry, Jack, no little gold check mark for you today. (We could totally make that a thing.)

Unfortunately Trump's IRS will still be up its knockers in left-lib personnel hell-bent on sabotaging the right. He should fire them all and hire back on a case-by-case basis.

Anonymous krymneth December 14, 2016 6:55 PM

Truly, it's just the calm before the storm. You know those FBI investigations are just quietly continuing, knowing there's no reason whatsoever to stick their neck out at this time. Why give the opposition any information to respond to?

BlogDog, any other politician and I might be worried. But Trump is the King of Firing. And while there are some laws that constrain him on the one hand, he's also going to be unfettered in some other important ways, because unlike a business that needs to keep making money even during housecleaning, I doubt he much cares if entire sections of the executive shut down for weeks at a time.

The biggest weapon they have is strikes. But how do they use that weapon when striking merely scores some applause and thanks from President Trump for so nobly volunteering to save the American taxpayer the cost of their salaries during the strike?

I'm not saying it's going to be smooth sailing because, yes, they're going to put up a fight, but in the end, they need Trump more than Trump needs them, and Trump's BATNA ("why don't you just go **** yourselves, and when you get tired of that, you can come beg for me to come back to the table") leaves him in a spectacular position for negotiation.

And yet they call him dumb. He was smart enough to beat Hillary, even when running against the Dem Machine, the media, the government, and most of the Establishment Republicans. The delusion and denial is strong with the (non-AceOfSpadesHQ-style) morons.

My fervent hope is that he simplifies the tax code so much (FairTax, anyone?) that 90% of the IRS employees can be fired.

And I pray that the FBI corruption probe manages to probe REALLY deep into the PizzaGate connection. Hearing of a huge spate of suicides and "fled the country" headlines would just warm the cockles.

It is Trump's job to call a halt to their crap, and the alt-right's job to punish them for it.

On the first part, I suspect they're still lying about the reason being an emoji. You can tell by the fact that they attribute it to "a source close to the situation." At this point, that might as well read, "and we are lying."

The reason is that Twitter threatened to block him and tried to portray him as some kind of hateful freak who deserved blocking. They also blocked right-wingers who supported him, while letting leftists do and say whatever vile stuff they liked.

Besides, Twitter isn't a major tech player. It's a popular social media platform right now, but lots of popular platforms have come and gone. Twitter isn't driving any new technology or spurring creativity. It doesn't provide a large number of jobs, generate profits for more than a handful of people, or produce anything tangible. It's a handy toy, but hardly anything that bears on the health of the nation.

What's going to happen with the IRS is the same thing that the CIA is doing right now: Un-named sources within the IRS that are dyed in wool Democrats (like most SES and senior GS people are) will constantly leak like a sieve to the press in an effort to handicap Trump and his staff. Just like the CIA did under Bush 43, but worse, because the Professional Bureaucratic Left despises Trump just as much as we all despise SJWs.
It's very hard to fire a government employee for cause, but any that have crossed swords with the administration can be transferred out of their cushy fiefdom in DC and into choice offices around the country, like Fairbanks, AK Minot ND, and many other remote, out-of-the-way offices around the country. Hell, Trump just might build a new one somewhere just to house them all.

So as he walks around the boardroom table, he quietly takes a battle axe off the wall, walks up behind the seated man, and splits his skull in two saying, "I take no pleasure in that. That man was like a son to me. Think what I will do to the man who killed my brother."

So Jack got a skull job from Trump, and everyone around that table saw it.

Also - it shows that our concerns that they would try and hold power by any means necessary were justified, and their predictions that Bush would try shady tricks to keep power were projection.

And all of these attempts to snake victory away from the election results show us not only what we have to guard against, but also legitimize similar tactics being used to keep power out of their hands.

Blogger Thucydides December 15, 2016 9:04 PM

An interesting aside, in "The American Interest" there was an article predicting President Trump's 2.0 political machine will be created during the titanic rebuilding of infrastructure and other construction jobs that will power MAGA in the first term. The previous administration sidelined "Shovel Ready Jobs" for ideological reasons, so not only is this project politically necessary, it is a practical imperative now to repair decades of disrepair and neglect.

President Trump is himself a builder, and can assemble a coalition of powerful people in the various trades and associations needed to carry out the project. The tech billionaires may believe that their "stuff" is absolutely vital to the economy, but forget that most people (read "voters") are more concerned that their water is safe, toilets flush and they can drive to work every day. Brick and mortar is still vitally important to people, and if you are not getting to work, or able to use reliable energy infrastructure, then the ability to access WiFi at a coffee shop suddenly drops pretty far in the list of important things for most people.

President Trump might have reminded them of these facts (subtly or otherwise), but once again, there is be a sea change coming and these guys will never understand why they were caught off guard.
