Gab goes big

Fantastic to see Gab making the Drudge Report... even if the Yahoo article linked consisted of little more than the usual anti-Alt-Right nonsense.
Squeezed out of Twitter and other social media websites cracking down on hate speech, far-right activists are finding a home on a new platform that promises never to censor content.

Launched in August, Gab has become known as a safe haven for the "alt-right" movement dominated by the white supremacists who are helping fuel America's deepening polarization.

The social network currently has 100,000 members and another 200,000 on its waiting list, according to the company.

"All are welcome to speak freely," spokesman Utsav Sanduja says.

Gab is unable to accommodate all those who want to join, he adds, because it is still in its test phase.

The social network's rise comes amid Twitter's suspension of political activists for purportedly promoting racist and harassing comments.

One of the new "Gabbers," Richard Spencer, heads the white supremacist National Policy Institute, whose account Twitter has suspended.

Spencer, whose "Hail Trump" comments were seen as evocative of the Nazi era, joined the Twitter exile along with Milo Yiannopoulos, accused of fomenting a social media campaign against the African-American actress Leslie Jones.
Sadly for the SJW Narrative, Richard Spencer's account on Twitter was restored to normal status yesterday, because it was finally determined that he didn't do anything to violate their increasingly Byzantine rules.

Make a note, Facebook. Yahoo is Fake News.

Note that I'm not active on Twitter any more by choice. I'm neither suspended nor banned, I've simply decided to stop utilizing a social media site that blocks access to this blog. If you want to follow me on social media, you'll have to join the Alt-Tech revolution and get on Gab.

What a horrible portrayal of Gab from the Yahoo! article. Can't say I'm unsurprised, though. The bias of the MSM is regular as rain.

I've been on Gab for while now, and frankly my Gab feed is not much different from Twitter feed or my G+ feed. This is not surprising. They all converge on your interests, necessarily.

The difference is that Gab does not have a rabid pack of SJW moderators conducting purges with the zeal of Torquemada. And that is quite welcome.

QUITE.

Blogger Robert Divinity December 12, 2016 11:31 AM

Gab is much more interesting than Twitter precisely because it doesn't censor. While it is still in early launch, in due time it isn't difficult to see Gab grabbing a significant percentage of Twitter users. Wall Street apparently anticipated an alternative would emerge prior to Gab's launch because Twitter's share price has been in steady decline. It won't get better for them and one major misstep--perhaps suspending a big name like Trump--and Twitter will be toast.

Blogger Student in Blue December 12, 2016 11:36 AM

Hopefully Gab doesn't get the Drudge hug-o-death.

Since when is believing in God, Western Civilization, Truth and Liberty "far right"?
Now that the overton window has finally budged in a favourable direction, perhaps the time has come to reset the labelling and show them that identity politicking the alt-right will always end badly for them...

Eh, I think it's more like "Wall Street" noticed Twitter doesn't have a clue, at how to make a profit even when they have very substantial revenues, over 2 billion for FY 2015, and that the platform is declining if not dying. I suppose in one respect that's not because they're nasty to us, but nasty to just about everyone, most especially anyone trying to be a part of their ecosystem, which they've killed and otherwise almost totally poisoned for the foreseeable future.

In light of that, it's unfortunate Gab has been declared an Enemy of the People and is under constant attack, they have to think very carefully about the implications of anything having to do with creating an ecosystem.

March-April are going to be interesting months next year. That is likely when we are going to start seeing the financial reports for the company's that have openly declared war on their customers hit. I suspect, like Target, profits are going to come in below forecast for companies like Pepsi and Kelloggs. There will be many excuses offered but none of the analysts will directly state that insulting their customers could have been a cause.

It's possible that Twitter's business model couldn't be profitable even if it weren't run by SJW jackholes. The "free service funded by advertising" model is a bubble in general on the web, as people become more ad-blind or use ad blockers. They've kept the bubble inflated somewhat with better targeting, but it may be doomed.

People are starting to see that things are not as they should be. Case in point, I was speaking to a couple of guys last week about politics and one of them is a guy trying to make it in Hollywood. He tells me the story about what his acting teacher told his class the other day: "If you are Hispanic or Black, you will have a lot of work lined up for you, if you are blonde hair and blue eyed, sorry but there will not be much for you". My friend is red headed and of Scottish descent, he is not happy neither was my other friend who is a former Marine and of Irish descent, these guys face it all the time. So here is me, the Hispanic telling them about a Blog that I frequent called Vox Popoli and reading to them the Tweets from Mike Cernovich, recently they have been listening a whole lot more.

@17 Cail Corishev:

As I understand it, once Twitter got big enough, it created a feed of raw data that's of great interest to a great many companies. Want to know about trending things? Such a feed will give you very, very fresh data.

I have to wonder if they made 2.12 bullion US$ in 2015 revenue on just advertising. But, again, it's not that they aren't getting money in generally increasing amounts, it's that they're spending it at unsustainable rates with very little show besides losing their user base, and we especially don't see why their head count is so high.

And, of course, if your thesis is correct, we possibly won't be able to judge it because shitting on and destroying their user base will have similar effects on ad revenue.

Remember who is saying it. "Extremist" is just another label they're currently extracting the last bit of juice from, along with racist, sexist, white supremacist, and so on. You're either in total submission to them, or you're -ist.

So far, I see little evidence that they even have an inkling of what they might do once that no longer works anymore. This is one of the last few tattered shreds covering over the total intellectual bankruptcy of the left.

As for myself, I pretty much consider the Alt-Right just the "Right" now. That's premature in some sense, but in another sense, it's so obvious that the "Alt-Right" is destined to utterly consume and displace the conventional Right, which over the years had simply become the Reduced Calorie Left and shares in the full calorie version's total intellectual bankruptcy, that I see little reason to wait for my own internal thinking. (That's distinct from the question of when it might be advantageous to try to claim the label.)

The reason "far right" is a go-to arrow in their quiver is that they are relying on the poli sci 101 model that says the most centrist candidate wins.

So we have to analyze exactly why that model is wrong, (it is) and then develop memes that turn "far right" into an advantage. We have principles; they are two faced opportunists. That sort of thing.

Once we start calling it out for what it is: an attempt to gaslight European peoples into believing that our ethnic interests are not every bit as legitimate as other peoples'. The proper comebacks to 'White Supremacy' / 'Hitleryhoo' drivel are:

1) "There is nothing wrong with us upholding our ethnic interests, and you don't have the right to demonize us into thinking otherwise via gaslighting neologisms like 'White Supremacy'." This frames your opponent as being an emotional abuser (gaslighter), which is a Bad Thing.

2) "Eisenhower and Churchill would have agreed with us." This is the optimal comeback to 'Hitleryhoo' drivel. Indeed, if these two men were alive, they would have Lord Haw-hawed the pro-invasion traitors a long time ago.

3) "Nazi Germany was never under the threat of (assisted) invasion." This quickly cuts to the core difference between 1930s and 2010s, and makes any Nazi comparisons laughably irrelevant.

basically they spent $300 million on RnD but they can't put an edit button in. what that tells me is that they are some combination of clueless and mendacious. Even if you are flushing money down research for the writeoff, you should still get something in return.

Here's what they could do:

Free users get 125 tweets/mo and up to 1,000,000 tweet impressions.
Paid 1 $5 - 500 tweets/ 5,000,000 impressions
...
Paid 4 $30 /mo - ad-free. free verification. editing function. conversation grouping functionality. actual phone dispute resolution.
...
Enterprise $$$$ - improved API access. unlimited tweets / impressions.

---------
this is all pie in the sky - Twitter will never offer an ad-free premium paid version because on their network you are the product being sold, as Denninger pointed out in one of his rants.

"Racist" was effective because it was so vague it couldn't be disproven. Also, it was short and came out with a hiss. The alt-right is simply a simple term to describe those who want quality control. The citizens have the ability and stake in ensuring their societies are run properly.

What is wrong with that is where the marxists and the media come in: they need a villain. They need to deflect and perpetuate the cycle of division.

Cut through this simple fact and the alt-right is completely justified and necessary.
