Merkel muß weg!

Blogger Dave January 22, 2017 1:56 PM

I like it; the Patriotic Spring in Europe.

Blogger Benjamin Kraft January 22, 2017 2:02 PM

I herd Judeo-Christ lieks Humanism.

Seems (((kosher))).

Other than that though, no significant objections here (as if my opinion meant anything to them).

Blogger Assyrian Nationalist January 22, 2017 2:07 PM

Great speech, but I chuckled when the subtitles read "For our own Judeo-Christian humanist culture and civilization" at 16:33. Is that a correct translation?

It's interesting to see how blunt Wilders is about Europe's demographic crisis compared to Trump. I was surprised when he brought up the UN projections on Africa's population growth.

Blogger Happy Housewife January 22, 2017 2:17 PM

Man, I hope he wins.

Blogger Dave January 22, 2017 2:19 PM

I also questioned the translation of that phrase.

Blogger pdwalker January 22, 2017 2:24 PM

Gosh, it seems like this year is going to be one of the best years in many.

Blogger SB Wright January 22, 2017 2:25 PM

@Assyrian Nationalist and @Dave: It sounded correct to me. Based on what Wilders said if I had done the subs for American English, "Judeo-Christian" is the translation I would have used as well.

Trump's name being cheered in German. Winning.

Blogger sconzey January 22, 2017 2:46 PM

Can a German-speaker translate the chanting at approximately 1:55 please?

Anonymous TheHiss January 22, 2017 2:51 PM

He said "unsere eigene humanistische jüdisch-christliche Kultur". I don't know how else one would translate it.

Anonymous Bobby Farr January 22, 2017 2:52 PM

Anonymous TheHiss January 22, 2017 2:55 PM

@12. Merkel must go.

Anonymous TheHiss January 22, 2017 2:58 PM

@10. That's the answer to your question as well.

Blogger sconzey January 22, 2017 3:01 PM

Thanks guys.

Hope we can get tired of winning!

OT: Vox, randomly opening St. Augustine's 'The City of God', I encountered a section where he was explaining things said by Hermes Trismegistus (book 8, section 23) - the passages that followed seemed to be explaining men creating gods and I can't help but notice the similarity to "kek" and "pepe". I know its a useful rhetorical device but have you read this book or any similar writings?

Zeer goot!

Blogger Dave January 22, 2017 3:31 PM

The problem is will his party gain enough seats (unlikely) to win the majority; or if he's forced to form a coalition will he be willing to compromise.

Smart politics is often a lot like sailing, sometimes you can't go straight from point A to point B. Sometimes you have to tack in order to get where you want to go.

Wilders is not an idiot. If he is part of a coalition, he'll get to where he wants to go, even if he has to take the indirect approach.

Anonymous acushla January 22, 2017 4:12 PM

"Merkel must go."

I think a better demand would be, Merkel must kill herself at once.

Get to work, 4chan.

OT, but I saw Glenn Reynolds did an interview on BBC. Vox, do you consider him to be one of the few people (like milo) who have the ability to deal with the media without getting screwed over by it?

OT. Vox is always right. The Secret King Scalzi Manifesto http://whatever.scalzi.com/2017/01/18/the-beginning-of-the-trump-years/

excerpt-
I’m planning to give a whole lot of money (possibly from that tax cut I will now almost certainly get) to organizations that will gum up the works for the Trump administration and/or help to protect people who his administration will put at risk (pretty much anyone who is not a well-off straight white person), and do a lot of writing, because rumor is, I have an audience. There are other things I’m considering as well...

Two, you know what, if I’m going to resist for the next four years, I’m gonna have fun doing it. I mean, come on: Thumping on racists and bigots and greedy assholes, and shoving sticks into the spokes of their shitty little plans? That’s holy work, that is, and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.

The purple-lip pic next to it got pulled, too bad.

Blogger Dave January 22, 2017 4:40 PM

If he is part of a coalition, he'll get to where he wants to go

That remains to be seen, he's positioned himself as the outsider; will the other parties feel any pressure to work with him?

Anonymous TheHiss January 22, 2017 5:15 PM

#19. I can still get it on Youtube where I am (England).

Anonymous Garrulus January 22, 2017 5:36 PM

The judeo christian translation was correct, and to be expected with jew loving Wilders.

Anonymous Garrulus January 22, 2017 5:39 PM

he's polling around 33/150 seats, 76 seats needed to form a majority coalition, a government. Most big parties have refused ahead of time to deal with him.

I don't know how Leonardo Dicaprio does it. He makes movies, represents the UN, and now he's running for office in the Netherlands. Wow.

See @1 lol!

"Merkel muß weg!"

Blogger Franz Lyonheart January 22, 2017 6:06 PM

@4 yes that's a correct translation.

There are only a few inaccuracies. E.g. when they translate "selbstbewußt" with "self-conscious". Correct would be "confident". But all in all, pretty good translation.

One of the shortest books ever written is a compendium of rich shitlibs advocating for raising taxes that lead by example, and freely donated large sums of their money to the I.R.S. at tax time every year.

In the last parliament, the biggest pary was only 40 seats. Obviously a matter of coalition politics, and the winds of change are blowing.

(everybody in parliamentary assemblys says they will not make deals ahead of an election to keep their base mollified. That does not survive the election itself.)

Slightly OT: loved the speech, hope he has good bodyguards and wins.

Vox, when folks point at your swaying or moving in your Periscopes, please note that Wilders, a very long-time pol and public speaker, does the exact same movements you do .... so it's NOT a bad thing! It's just a thing.

Jews have no part in swamping Europe with muzzies and fuzzie wuzzies? Vox has brilliantly illustrated how Judeo-Christian is propaganda that originated in the 1940's. It may not have the same impact in Europe as it does in the States, but Geert would be wise to stop using it.

The Koblenz shindig is something that I suspect is far more important than what we're hearing in the lamestream media. Far more important than the SJW/feminasty menstruation we were subjected to yesterday, certainly.

Anonymous SciVo de Plorable January 22, 2017 11:47 PM

Freedom or submission, pick one.

Anonymous acushla January 23, 2017 12:23 AM

You know, the people here who have provided translations from the German have been very helpful and courteous. But I don't speak a lick of German myself (except for some opera lines) and I could understand him near-perfectly, without any subtitles. Anybody who's given any serious study to I-E languages (Italic/Latinate or Teutonic, pref both) could understand this. I don't speak either Spanish or Italian, but I can read newspapers in both. Everybody needs to hit the books a bit harder, as this is a core part of "identitaire" and all that.

Anonymous SciVo de Plorable January 23, 2017 12:55 AM

No. My peeps are not all capable of that. I love them, but I live way out in the country, and it is a totally reasonable answer in a bar to an attempt to start a discussion that "I just like to ride my quad and take care of my family." Okay, fair enough.

Anonymous acushla January 23, 2017 1:09 AM

@50: hey, that's totally fair. And maybe it's unfair to ask people who are later in years or who have complicated responsibilities to undertake such things. After all one learns languages easier when one's younger. It's just a thing that the people with capability should consider.

Anonymous SciVo de Plorable January 23, 2017 1:33 AM

You are a real ass.

Anonymous acushla January 23, 2017 1:35 AM

How am I an ass? I'm agreeing with you.

Anonymous SciVo de Plorable January 23, 2017 1:44 AM

I respect Native Europeans and Unhyphenated-Americans who will never ever know a second language, and I invite you to agree with me.

Anonymous acushla January 23, 2017 2:11 AM

Of course I agree with you, and I respect them too. I grew up in a household full of 'em. I'm not doing some snobbish sneering routine, I just think that in fighting this fight, there are tools which are absent from our toolkit, and that this is one of them. (Read Unamused/Kievsky on this point.) There's a lot of bad English grammar in writing on the alt-right, which hurts the cause becuz makes us look like rubes to our enemies. One way of correcting this is to learn other languages, esp I-E ones, which gives you a kind of x-ray vision into how our own language operates. Also, if you know other I-E languages, networking and so forth. No disrespect intended, just some practical advice to those who can manage it (of course I understand your point that not everyone can.)

You've got a witty moniker, obviously you're a smart dude; presumably you can make sense of my point.

Anonymous whatwedontknow January 23, 2017 4:14 AM

That Soros guy seems like the devil's apprentice. Must be a nice feeling to have the mainstream media in your pocket.

Anonymous TheHiss January 23, 2017 4:58 AM

@49. Bear in mind that German is not Geert's first language so his speech is probably simpler and clearer for a non-German speaker to understand than an actual German's would be.

Blogger Roger Hill January 23, 2017 5:35 AM

@49
If I could go back in time and have a 'sit-down' with my much younger self, one of the things I would urge myself to do is study a foreign language. It was not required of me in my rather poor publicly funded education, nor did it seem helpful by way of American hegemony. But time has taught me that my communication skills (to say nothing of my thought process)would be greatly enhanced had I spent the time and effort to grasp German, Spanish, Italian or any number of others.

Blogger Roger Hill January 23, 2017 5:45 AM

Let me also say that language skills is not something I was gifted with at birth. I have struggled in this area my whole life. It's pretty obvious to me that some people are truly gifted in this area, some are just average, while still others are sub par. I am in the last category. But time and effort in a foreign tongue would have helped.

Blogger Lazarus January 23, 2017 10:25 AM

Soon to be Euro-hero of myth, Anders Breivik, wrote in his manifesto: There is no Jewish problem in western Europe (with the exception of the UK and France) as we only have 1 million in western Europe, whereas 800,000 out of these 1 million live in France and the UK. The US, on the other hand, with more than 6 million Jews (600% more than Europe) actually has a considerable Jewish problem."

He was also pro-israel and thought the temple should be rebuilt in Jerusalem.

Don't get your hopes up. Geert Wilders' party, even if it wins the most votes, will not win a majority and, since no other major party will join a coalition with it, it will not govern.
