He says it like it's a bad thing

Scott Adams warns that the Left might conjure Literally Hitler from their unrestrained madness and fear:
As a trained persuader, I’m seeing a dangerous situation forming that I assume is invisible to most of you. The setup is that during the presidential campaign Trump’s critics accused him of being Hitler(ish) and they were sure other citizens would see it too, thus preventing this alleged monster from taking office.

They were wrong. The alleged monster took office.

Now you have literally millions of citizens in the United States who were either right about Trump being the next Hitler, and we will see that behavior emerge from him soon, or they are complete morons. That’s a trigger for cognitive dissonance. The science says these frightened folks will start interpreting all they see as Hitler behavior no matter how ridiculous it might seem to the objective observer. And sure enough, we are seeing that.

To be fair, Trump made it easy this week with his temporary immigration ban. If you assume Trump is Hitler, that fits with your hypothesis. But of course it also fits the hypothesis that he’s just doing his job. We’re all seeing what we expect to see.

But lately I get the feeling that Trump’s critics have evolved from expecting Trump to be Hitler to preferring it. Obviously they don’t prefer it in a conscious way. But the alternative to Trump becoming Hitler is that they have to live out the rest of their lives as confirmed morons. No one wants to be a confirmed moron. And certainly not after announcing their Trump opinions in public and demonstrating in the streets. It would be a total embarrassment for the anti-Trumpers to learn that Trump is just trying to do a good job for America. It’s a threat to their egos. A big one.
I don't know about you, but I would very much like to see the God-Emperor start fulfilling their darkest visions, and then going well beyond them. Perhaps we need to get them to stop calling him Literally Hitler and start calling him something else.

How does Literally Genghis Khan sound?

Here's what I'd like to see the God-Emperor do over the rest of this week:
  1. Appoint William Pryor to the Supreme Court
  2. Cancel all H1B visas and announce the end of all employment-related visa programs
  3. Announce travel bans on every country with elected officials who have publicly protested the travel ban, with the caveat that an endorsement of the travel ban from the head of state will get the country off the travel ban.
  4. Announce the defunding and closure of the NEA.
Look, they're going to cry and scream anyhow, right? Give them something to really howl about.

Trump probably can't cancel existing H1B without provoking lawsuits, which would unify the corporations that use them against him. He could simply stop issuing new ones and renewing expiring ones, which would completely resolve the problem in three years and is something he has the legal power to do. An alternative would be to ratchet the numbers down so hard and then set the corporations on each other to fight for the lingering slices of the H1B pie. That could be engineering to divide the opposition corporate states, rather than unite them.

A good way to split corporate alliances on H1Bs would be to announce that no H1B holder can be paid less than say 100-150K per year, adjusted for market area. After all, if they're supposedly such great talent, they should be making more than the average in their industry right? Some of the top corporations that use H1Bs are in fact paying them in that range which would give them an opportunity to preen against their lower end competition that are not. Might be a way to break up a potentially united front.

I find all this Trump being Hitler narrative confusing. If Trump really is the second coming of Hitler, why are so many People of Color (PoC) still fighting to come and migrate to America? Shouldn't the PoC already in the US be heading for the exits like many Jews did in Germany in the '30's? And why are so many liberals assisting and encouraging these PoC to come to America if these PoC are only going to end up as gas chamber fodder in the coming years? I do not remember Hitler having to build a border wall to keep the Jews from trying to immigrate in massive numbers into Nazi Germany.

It seems to me if Trump really were Hitler II, people would be acting differently?

Anonymous CC January 31, 2017 2:55 AM

And this gets me to my point. When millions of Americans want the same thing, and they want it badly, the odds of it happening go way up. You can call it the power of positive thinking. It is also the principle behind affirmations. When humans focus on a desired future, events start to conspire to make it happen.

This had occurred to me as well, I wondered if the friction would cease or diminish after the election, but it isn't and their actions, which are only going to escalate now, will force Trump's hand. He is acting under the premise of putting America first, so he will do anything protect America and her people. This is also great for anybody living in the White/Western countries who sees that we are being invaded and destroyed from within.

And as Vox says, this is ultimately no bad thing. This entire situation, entire argument needs to be forced, so everybody who cares to look can see clearly what it is at stake. The sooner, the better.

Anonymous Sharrukin January 31, 2017 3:06 AM

Trump is trying to reform the system. It may be too late for that. If the leftists escalate the violence Trump will be forced to respond, or failing that, others will respond in kind. That may well derail any planned reforms.

Trump doesn't want a war, but it seems as if a significant minority of leftists do. And of course it only takes one side to start a war.

Unfortunately Trump may have arrived on the scene too late to even slow down what is coming.

Added to the list - deportation of muslims back to their country of origin, and a revitalisation of the idea of Liberia, whereby the wrongs of slavery were rectified by sending them back home - one could deport all the Crips & Bloods type gang bangers, they obviously don't like USA and the West very much.

There was a poll a while back where Millenials were asked if they supported military action against ISIS - the majority did. The next question was if they would participate in military action, the majority said they weren't interested. I'm sure the bongs and dildos crowd would love it if there were some army of Gestapo or KGB to round up all the nasty Rightwingers up and gas them...except there's no army of KGB or Gestapo here (in the near term anyway). Unfortunately, with the Media and politicians agitating as hard as they are (for a revolution or a race war), it's going to come to blows. Trump probably can't cancel existing H1B without provoking lawsuits, which would unify the corporations that use them against him.

First of all the lawsuits could get filed, but that doesn't guarantee results --and some of the results could be bad for us, some good.

Second, you're wrong. The corporations in your scenario wouldn't unify against just Trump, but against Trump and his admin and the millions who voted for him AND those anti-Trumpsters who would benefit from that policy, as well as their loved ones, who could be brought to realize that; and possibly some others.

I favor the rip-the-bandaid off in one fell swoop approach of canceling them all right away right now. Why face a drip drip exception exception NAXALT media endless love for foreigners dragged out over months or years?

For similar reasons Pryor would be an awesome pick too.

@8 This a particularly ineffective piece of rhetoric I've tried myself, along the lines of the "Leftists are the real racists", unfortunately. Although it is amusing to anyone who already agrees with us.

It's like, "Why does a fascist want to decrease gun regulation?" "Why does he want to remove edicts? Shouldn't he be putting more in place?"

At it's heart, we know the Hitler comparison is silly and self-defeating (afterall, aren't you admitting that previous administrations, including the Democrats, have built a Weimar Republic, with all the unstable currency that implies?). It's completely ahistorical and reeks of someone who doesn't understand where Hitler or Mussolini or any of that lot came from or what they wanted to achieve or what they did. There are so many better historical comparisons you could make to Trump, good and bad.

I, for one, am a fan of going the full dictator route, going for the traditional Emperor. Julius Caeser, "temporary" dictator, the people's dictator, with the name sake of fascism as our symbol (particularly since it has a nice pointy end):

As much as they hate us, they hate themselves more. That's what drives their self destructive urges.

It's about self image. Your very existence as a non-rabbit threatens their image of themselves. It shows that a man doesn't have to be a rabbit to be good or to survive.

And as much as they hate you for that demonstration, they hate themselves even more for what it shows them about themselves; that being a rabbit is not a biological necessity but a moral choice for which they are wholly responsible.

But they lack the honesty to develop self-awareness so they hide their cowardice under layers of virtue signalling. Their violence is a measure of their self doubt, it's a psychological compensation mechanism, constantly seeking affirmation from the herd, demanding you reaffirm their choice that being a rabbit is the only possibility.

@11

I too believe in the power of positive thinking and affirmations. My understanding of the nature of reality is that thought/information have primacy (in the beginning was the Word). Then thoughts "condense" into energy, which has power to move things. And energy creates matter. It means that thoughts have power over, or rather shape, physical reality. Positive thoughts create stories that come true, but negative thoughts also create stories that come true. During the election, Clinton's supporters were more focused on telling scary stories about Trump than inspirational stories about Hillary, while Trump supporters focused on Trump in a loving and optimistic way while paying less negative attention to Hillary. Voilà, according to the laws of physics (or what I see as the laws of physics), Trump wins.

As an aside, and according to this cosmology, the Eastern Orthodox are more right than the Catholics in rejecting the filioque. It makes more sense to me to think of the order of procession from the Father (idea) through the Holy Spirit (energy) to the Son (incarnation, and thus matter).

Sorry about this digression.

I am with Snidely on that. The key is not to get them paid, it is to benefit the rest of us. Right now, there is a minor labor price/skill arbitrage, plus a big societal harm, that creates a pool of value split between the H1B worker and his employer.

The key is to pivot the incentives such that there is a value to our society, not for the foreign worker or his employer. Instead of a lottery to give away that 'rape the host society' value, there should be an auction with the proceeds to the government.

Something along the lines of $100k each for the first 1k H1Bs, plus for every $10k the auction clearing price exceeds that there are another 1k H1Bs. If no one is willing to pay an additional visa fee of $100k each, no H1Bs. If there are 5k employers willing to pay $150k each, there will be 5k H1Bs. If there are 10k employers willing to pay an additional $200k each, they will get their foreign labor. If there are 50k employers who want them for free, and 100k employers willing to pay $100k, and 5k who are willing to pay $200k, the 5k get their workers @ $200k and the rest can suck eggs. The key is the excess value comes to the rest of us to compensate for the harm, not split between the abusers of the current system. The objective is to extract a large amount of value so the 'cheap labor' is eliminated, but leave the door open for the occasional, I need that skill set, and it doesn't exist here, and I will pay to get it because I really do need it.

A system like that would pivot the labor development materially, instead of foreign workers coming here and developing, while our workers are on atrophying on welfare or as baristas, it would create an incentive for multinationals to send Americans overseas for training to rebuild the skill sets that we have a shortage of because we exported our manufacturing. Then bring them home to further train American nationals.

In the past, number of people was a material component of national strength, in the medium to long term, national strength will come from a combination of maximizing the number of very high potential people, and minimizing the number of lower IQ leeches. The American nation was well situated for that future, but we're screwing it up badly with our import the third world policies.

21.Discard: When you see videos like that one of BLM in Seattle, where the black gal is saying (laden with profanities) give us your money, your homes, etc. Those kind of public pronouncements open the door to a more public advocacy of that kind of racial hatred, and reparations and all that (as with the DNC's current path).

The white SJWs are not going to perhaps publicly disagree at one of these bonfires, but we may see them withdraw their support privately, and move back within the shadows of life. Granted, Soros may be funding some who are dumb enough to think "they will spare me come the end of the civil war", but still, overall numbers matter.

Remember, the majority of 60s "hippies" quietly faded into regular America by 1975, many into regular corporate jobs, with families, white picket fences, and ushered in Reagan within a few years. Pot smoking white kids (18-25) who camped out at Woodstock, would wind up voting for Reagan 11 years later.

Indeed, make it cost - make them pay and pay and pay! Since they are hiring talent unavailable in the US, make them pay at least double the prevailing rate. Make them pay an equal amount to the government, to encourage them to develop talent here at home. Add additional costs, too. H1-b should be rare, legal, and very unattractive. If companies are lobbying for more visas, keep doubling the cost until they stop lobbying.

Trump probably can't cancel existing H1B without provoking lawsuits, which would unify the corporations that use them against him.

Too late. They've hated him ever since they realized he was the less-than-enthusiastically-open-borders candidate. They were organizing against even a potential candidate like him before he ran, with pro-cheap-labor organizations like Zuckerberg's. He "provoked lawsuits" by banning entrance from terrorist countries named by Obama, for cripes sake. THERE WILL BE LAWSUITS AND RIOTS. Accept it. Be okay with it.

Look, all the incremental ways to chip away at the H1-B problem made sense before Trump (B.T.), when immigration patriots were on the outside looking in and the best we could hope for was to sneak minor improvements into legislation. But Trump won. He doesn't have to be incremental, or try to find clever ways to make them want to go home on their own. He can just end it.

The H1-B battle is a lot like the battle over PBS funding. Whenever Republicans make noise about ending it, liberals scream two things:

1. Republicans want to kill the arts!!!
2. Federal funding is such a small part of the PBS budget that it's petty and wasteful to spend time trying to cut it.

These two claims are completely contradictory, of course, but they get away with bouncing back and forth between the two because Republicans never call their bluff. There's a similar contradiction on H1-Bs:

1. H1-Bs are just a tiny flow, used to fill in around the edges of the native workforce, so it's petty and wasteful to spend time trying to cut it.
2. OMG, if you get rid of them all our technology will stop working!!!!

The best way to force that contradiction into the open is for Trump to end it, because it makes point #1 moot. Force the open borders traitors to argue point #2 instead of playing hopscotch with the two points -- and then watch them look stupid when there's no catastrophe.

On a related note. I've been reading about Nixon' presidency and I find parallels between Trump and Nixon in terms of strategy. Nixon somehow got the Left riled up yet Nixon got the support of Middle America. Now, the Left is riled up on the limited immigration ban yet two polls say that a majority of Americans support the policy. Trump is also playing a long game. The lefties got their candidate nominated in 1972 and their candidate lost in a landslide. The riled up lefties of today might channel their fury toward getting a left wing candidate nominated for President--and I'm talking about someone who would make the Clintons look like centrists--to go down similarly in flames like in 1972.

And all that's kept way on the down-low. I mean I didn't know it, and I'm probably 75% less of a dumb-ass than most teachers. They're wearing a blindfold in an unlit room as body blows rain down on them from all directions, and they hear nothing but random voices lying about when to duck. Trump is telling the blindfold wearers exactly how and when the next body blow will land, so they can avoid it. But hearing him communicate to them directly, they blame him as the cause for all of it. Trump can't stop the blows from coming, the best he can do right now is give fair warning. Ending H1Bs could have unintended consequences. A lot of the work that H1B holders come here to do could be contracted out to a company in India or somewhere. So instead of, say 20 US engineers supplemented by 5 H1B hires, a US company would have one guy in Palo Alto supervising 30 in Mumbai via Skype.

Unlike you, I've worked in IT for 30 years. You think they haven't tried that? Every company that tried IT offshoring to India in the 2000's has either pulled back to domestic companies, or is failing. Believe it or not, the H1Bs are the cream of the crop, particularly in ability to communicate. Between the communication problems, the aggressive posturing endemic in Indian culture, the Indian preference for caste over family, and family over competence, the Indian habit of lying or refusing to communicate in any way whatsoever when caught fucking up, and the overall lower IQ, it's simply impossible to have any idea what the hell is going on in your project, until it has failed. And it will fail.

Blogger TM Lutas January 31, 2017 6:02 PM

While it would certainly pad my family's bank account, killing off the H1B significantly reduces my wife's MD competition. If this is a serious proposal, you probably want to figure out how you're going to gear up medical school slots to replace those people. Killing off the J visas will also significantly reduce medical availability to the less served areas inhabited by the working class.

So before you go killing off a bunch of rural whites for lack of doctors, maybe you want to step back and exercise a bit more sophisticated policy thinking.

Blogger Rex Little January 31, 2017 6:19 PM

What Snidely said. A couple years ago, a guy was telling me how his company was offshoring its IT support. He knew all the usual myths about how you can't find Americans willing to learn and work hard, how some offshoring companies are really careful about whom they hire so their people are solid, etc. The future looked bright.

Talked to him a couple months ago, and they're dumping the offshore company, and looking for people to fix the mess created by it. And whaddya know, they managed to find some people locally after all!

Anonymous Satan's Hamster January 31, 2017 8:12 PM

"If this is a serious proposal, you probably want to figure out how you're going to gear up medical school slots to replace those people."

That's irrelevant. By the time a kid entering medical school today would qualify as an MD, technology will have put him out of a job.

The idea of paying some guy $100,000+ a year just to prod people and try to remember what red and green blotches on the tongue is a symptom of when we could have a computer with a zillion sensors just tell you what the problem is is quite simply insane. Medicine is one of the next industries to be revolutionized by technology, if Trump can get the FDA out of the way.

Anonymous Mycroft Jones January 31, 2017 8:53 PM

About the H1-B. The $150,000 salary minimum sounds like a good start, but it won't stop the worst abuser: India. Most H1-B's aren't going to people who "need jobs". The purpose is to bring more Indians into the country. They have a whole university in Silicon Valley that is nothing but Chinese and Indian's working at their regular jobs, while officially being "students" at this university, in the country on a "student visa".

Another thing about student visa's: here in Canada, Saudi's, Iranians, and other Muslims have been flooding our universities for the chance to fuck white pussy, then go home and enjoy their sinecure do-nothing jobs. University: its the new whorehouse for the rich young Saudis.

Anonymous Mycroft Jones January 31, 2017 8:58 PM

Didn't mean to conflate the H1-B problem with the student visa problem. They are related in the same way as the magic dirt anchor baby problem; India (and China) are flooding into North America any way they can. And there are a lot of them that have lots of money. So limiting H1-B to salary of $100k won't put a dent in things; they'll pay it, the competition won't decrease. H1-B's need to be eliminated.

Anonymous BBGKB January 31, 2017 9:41 PM

Given that minority doctors are the majority of those committing fraud or doing things like telling healthy patients they have cancer for profit, those rural whites might be better off with no doctor. But I don't see how anybody can stand the cognitive dissonance they do.

Blogger TM Lutas February 01, 2017 8:47 AM

@103 Satan's Hamster - A med student doesn't get an H1B. H1Bs require a medical degree earned and paid for elsewhere plus a number of exams passed (USMLE Steps 1, 2, & 3). That happens at residency. For a foreign internist looking to go into primary care, that means that it's a 3 year pipeline from arrival to becoming fully qualified to practice in the USA. GPs have a 2 year pipeline and specialists vary widely but are generally longer.

You are also making a basic mistake about medicine, that it moves on technology time. Medicine is a highly regulated industry that more often works on government time and is going through the usual pains of those industries that are partially socialized. We are already seeing, and have seen for some time, innovative technologies being killed by regulation. The labor force is highly manipulated on both the federal and the state level, and the MD production pipeline will not gear up without permission from the same governments that can destroy them with a withheld license.

The rich and the technologically sophisticated will be able to work around the resulting CF a simple H1B kill off will produce in medicine. Working class people will be hardest hit and there won't be much of a difference by racial component.

@104 Mycroft Jones - What's the name of the school?

@106 BBGKB - Maybe you're right but when lives are at stake, I go engineer pretty hard. Please show your work, especially your math. I have this odd fondness for my fellow humans and would like them not to die unnecessarily because the alt-right (or anybody else) can't be bothered to think things through.

@108 Snidely Whiplash - You're right that there are a number of doctors who have made their money and refuse to go along with the destruction of the US medical system that started with Medicare/Medicaid and was accelerated by the ACA. It's a tragedy. But a simple visa cutoff won't pull those guys back into service. You need a more sophisticated set of reforms to actually let them doctor without so much paperwork.

@109 Discard - Please show your math. By my estimation, the losses far outweigh the gains and you're going to exacerbate the shortage in the rural america that went pretty heavy for Trump.

Anonymous Discard February 02, 2017 2:11 AM

113. TM Lutas: My math is rudimentary. Expel the Hispanics who consume a disproportionate amount of trauma care, and stop wasting resources on stupid Negroes who fuck themselves up routinely, and you will free up medical resources for White Americans. The Wetbacks and Blacks are almost entirely consumers of medical care, not producers. Agreed, kicking out the foreign doctors will reduce the number of available practitioners, but the med schools will still be in business, training White Americans instead of foreigners. If need be, the foreign doctors could be allowed to remain in place, making far more money than they would in their homelands, until Americans replace them.

Taking America back for Americans will not be cost free, but a pint of vinegar now is preferable to a gallon later. I am not willing to install a caste of Hindu or Chinese technicians and professionals in this country just to serve immediate "needs".
