He's building THE WALL

Donald Trump tells ABC that construction will start "in months":
In his first one-on-one television interview since being sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, President Donald Trump told ABC News anchor David Muir that Mexico would be paying for the proposed border wall and that negotiations between the two nations would begin "relatively soon."

"Ultimately, it will come out of what's happening with Mexico ... and we will be in a form reimbursed by Mexico, which I've always said," Trump said.

During the interview, which took place at the White House this morning, Trump said that Mexico would pay the U.S. back "100 percent."

He confirmed that U.S. taxpayer dollars would be used to start the construction but said reimbursement would follow.

"All it is, is we'll be reimbursed at a later date from whatever transaction we make from Mexico," he said. "I'm just telling you there will be a payment. It will be in a form, perhaps a complicated form. What I'm doing is good for the United States. It's also going to be good for Mexico. We want to have a very stable, very solid Mexico."

When asked about the start of construction, Trump said it would happen in "months."

"As soon as we can, as soon as we can physically do it," he said. "I would say in months, yeah. I would say in months — certainly planning is starting immediately."
And Mexico will pay for it.

Good start. The next step is to terminate automatic-birthright citizenship, which is merely a federal policy rather than a constitutional requirement. Indeed, the policy VIOLATES the Fourteenth Amendment, whose wording was specifically designed to prevent automatic citizenship by mere birth on U.S. soil.

Speaking as someone with family in Mexico even the dual measures of cutting the the drug trade in half and ending the stream of desperate people across the border would have a positive effect.

Very painful in the short term, but ultimately positive.

The oligarchy in Mexico has not had to innovate in a very long time. There has always been a pressure release valve in the north.

When PAN took over from PRI people genuinely believed change was possible. It turned out to be the same old game.

The recent gasoline protests are scary. There was rioting in a almost every poor and even not so poor suburb of Mexico City.

The entire country is on edge but the elites simply don't see it. Because the disaffected could always flee north they've never had to.

That self confidence only explanation I can think of for why they elevated Nieto. The man is pretty, but dumber than a bag of hammers.

@11 The PBS scorebox has been updated to 12 EOs since you posted that. I invite y'all to take a look at #11 on the list:

11. Deportations and sanctuary cities. This is also a longer order with several major pieces (as above, no public link yet). The president has directed agencies to step up deportation of those in the country illegally. First, he prioritizes seven groups of people for deportation. It is anyone: convicted of a crime, charged with a crime, who has committed a chargeable offense, has misrepresented themselves to the government, has abused a welfare program, who is under deportation order and who may “in the judgment of an immigration officer, otherwise pose a risk to public safety or national security.” Second, the order also directs the hiring of 10,000 more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, though it states that is subject to funding. Third, it states the U.S. policy is now to allow local law enforcement officers to act as immigration officers whenever possible. Fourth, it orders the Attorney General and Secretary of Homeland Security to block federal grants from so-called “sanctuary” cities which do not enforce some immigration laws.

It ain't the wall, it's the will behind the wall.

Can we have just a little less of this The English are not English. Genetic studies demonstrate so I understand that most English are of Celtic origin just as there forefathers were a millenium ago and far far further back than that.

The various invasions did little to alter the ethnic makeup. In the last thousand years (until 1947) the only influx were 50,000 or so Hugeunots in the 1550s and a similar number of Jews a hundred years ago. Our politicians must - after a fair trial - hang for what they have done. England needs a Trump.

Well, genetic studies regularly claim countries haven't changed after centuries of immigration. They find no impact on the genetic makeup in say Italy, even when we know millions and millions of slaves were imported under Rome. What could be the motivation for such preposterous claims? Perhaps to keep the unchecked immigration going?

Now you are probably correct that the effects in England weren't quite as adverse due to scale, but America with its significant German immigration must surely have brought up the numbers.

And Trump being of the ancestry that he is, with his Hitlerian attitude to leadership, is another example of this influence.

Sanctuary city EO contains this language:

“To better inform the public regarding the public safety threats associated with sanctuary jurisdictions, the Secretary shall utilize the Declined Detainer Outcome Report or its equivalent and, on a weekly basis, make public a comprehensive list of criminal actions committed by aliens and any jurisdiction that ignored or otherwise failed to honor any detainers with respect to such aliens,” the order reads.

Sanctuary Restaurant now a thing.

The restaurants agree to anti-discrimination policies, put up signs on windows that pronounce their sanctuary status and receive know-your-rights training, such as webinars on how to ask federal immigration agents for proper paperwork if there's an attempted raid. Some will also offer a text line for customers or employees to report any incidents of harassment.

Eh, just virtue signaling. Be a shame if codes enforcement put restaurants like that under a microscope. A real shame.

2000 years after Rome, England is still 10% Italian, according to DNA. That is a pretty powerful effect. As for Germans not having much effect, the Saxons came from the area around Denmark, England comes from the Frisia/Denmark area. Frisia/Denmark is like the motherland for England. So of course you won't find many traces of invasion; they share a common rootstock.

Feminist Author Roxane Gay Pulls Book from Simon & Schuster Over Milo Yiannopoulos Deal

I was supposed to turn the book in this month and I kept thinking about how egregious it is to give someone like Milo a platform for his blunt, inelegant hate and provocation. I just couldn’t bring myself to turn the book in. My editor emailed me last week and I kept staring at that email in my inbox and finally over the weekend I asked my agent to pull the book.

Though TED Books and Threshold are vastly different imprints, they both reside within Simon & Schuster and so I guess I’m putting my money where my mouth is. And to be clear, this isn’t about censorship. Milo has every right to say what he wants to say, however distasteful I and many others find it to be. He doesn’t have a right to have a book published by a major publisher but he has, in some bizarre twist of fate, been afforded that privilege.

Gay says that she still hopes the book is published someday but it has not yet found a new home.

Type One is a "nice" guy who doesn't really want to screw you but his self interest will always cause him to do so.

Type Two loudly proclaims he is an honest guy who will never screw you but has always planned to do so.

Type Three lets you know from the beginning he will screw you if you let him.

Type Twos are the most common and the most deadly.

Google indicates that Mexicans remit about $2B per month from the US to Mexico. 10% (or maybe 25%) off the top of all wire transfers under, say, $25K, from the US to Mexico until the wall is built and paid for. I suspect that 10% would probably cover the monthly costs. Keep the haircut low enough that people don't stop sending money south of the border.

I'm probably the last person to recommend poetry (excepting that of Robert Service), but Robert Frost wrote a good poem about walls: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems-and-poets/poems/detail/44266

You guys and race. What were traditionally called European races were and are linguistic groups. There is only a casual association between these 'races' and their ethnic character.

The British Isles is mainly Celtic with some German and I suppose a little Italian. This is a race is it?

We have our wall. Mexico is absolutely going to pay for it.

There is one way Mexico might not pay for it. If a tax on remittances was used to pay, and all the Mexicans in the US packed up and went home, that payment method would not work. But feature, not bug.

Yes, but we save money in student breakfast and lunches, EBT cards, medical care, etc.

Catholic german Trump will make american royalism real.

Finally, the founders of this nation, royalist german catholics, will be vindicated and we can finally begin pounding islam in the islam with a proper crusade, as envisioned by Thomas Jefferson.

"Keep the haircut low enough that people don't stop sending money south of the border."

Though they don't have a lot if options, other than making a trip back themselves. It's not as if they're going to trust sending it via the Mexican postal service.

Someone acts as people of a shared ethnicity do not share a genetic ancestry that can be measured. Because they do and it can.

Who said Hollyweird does not do predictive programming?

*AND* there is another one with John Cena in it called simply The Wall.

They have sniffed out a popular theme and are going to milk it for all it's worth.

@50 - the Yuge Wall of FU.
@66 - and that's why she wasn't 50 points ahead.

So far, so good. I'm hearing a lot of sullen silence from some folks that were strongly anti-trump a few months ago. I suspect that in three years, about 70% of the population will claim to have voted for him.

@80 seeingsights
Trump is going to transform world affairs, like Reagan. The UK and Trump are going to pursue a trade deal which strengthens the UK position vis a vis the EU. Also , ISIS will be destroyed. On General Mattis first day ISIS was bombed 30 times. Ten years from now, the EU and ISIS will be in the dust bin of history's--in good part because of Trump. Don't forget, we got great allies in our fight for Western Civilization.

It's way too early to draw any Reagan-Thatcher parallels. Hopefully we won't see a repeat of the hit against Reagan and the Pope from those days.

Re:England and Englishness
I posted a very long comment on this topic on a previous thread.
The upshot is that since 1066, Anglo-Saxon has meant the ordinary people of England, as opposed to the Norman French upper class, regardless of genetic heritage. While not of a common genetic stock, they shared a culture and language at the time of the Conquest, and saw (and still see) themselves as a single people. English is just the Anglo-Saxon pronunciation of Änglish.

Yep the west has allies like: The Blind Kung Fu Master! (Google it)

Well you guys can just nail Michael Moore to the Wall Facing Mexico and give him a megaphone. Scarecrow or ScareMoore.
Will use his insanity to scare anyone that even dares gets close to the wall.

There you have it, multiple problems solved.

That depends. To defund them, yes. But there's a better option: the Trump administration goes before a sympathetic judge and gets a court order requiring the government of, say Austin, to fully enforce Federal immigration law. Delicious irony 1: they cite the SCOTUS ruling striking down the AZ immigration bill on the grounds that the feds have sole jurisdiction on immigration.

The Austin mayor now has the choice to either follow the law, or go to jail for contempt of court. Delicious irony 2: this is essentially the same process the Obama administration used to jail that Alabama county clerk who wouldn't issue gay marriage licences.
