CNN Leaks by Project Veritas

I doubt there will be anything too explosive being released, but I expect the CNN Leaks will confirm what we all know about media bias:
Project Veritas released 119 hours of raw audio in a WikiLeaks style dump, with over 100 more hours still yet to be released. The audio was secretly recorded in 2009 by an anonymous source inside CNN's Atlanta headquarters who we are identifying as Miss X. The tapes contain soundbites from current and previous CNN employees Joe Sterling, Arthur Brice, and Nicky Robertson, as well as numerous others. Project Veritas is also offering a $10,000 award for content that exposes media malfeasance. The tapes show CNN's misrepresentation of polling data:

Miss X: "I read a CNN poll that was taken on June 26 and 28th, and I know that the hearing for the case, the fire fighters case was on the 29th, so the poll was done right before it, and those are still the poll results we're reporting, so I asked someone in DC who does the poll results about why we hadn't updated it, and said there were a few newer polls from last week and the week before and there's CBS news polls and a Rasmussen poll, and he said we don't use Rasmussen, and I said does CNN plan to do another poll if we're only using that. He said we're not going to be doing another poll, those are the results we'll be using. So I don't see how that's reporting all sides because that poll said hold for release until Friday the 10th."

Arthur Brice: "Who did you talk with?"

Miss X: "Paul [CNN's Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser]."

Arthur Brice: "Yeah, he's your director. Yeah, he's pretty high up in the food chain. I agree. I think it's dishonest to use outdated information if new information shows something that is in variance with what you're reporting. It's just, it's dishonest."

The same apathy towards reporting accurate poll numbers was seen in the way CNN released inaccurate poll numbers about Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor.

Miss X: "This wasn't released until two weeks after. So can we say a newly released poll?"

Joe Sterling: "No, you can't say that. You can't say that at all. This isn't a newly released."

Miss X: "But it says newly released on Friday."

Joe Sterling: "I know, how did we write about this? Did we write a wire about this? "I don't think we stand to change how people think of her [Sotomayor]. Geez, I mean if someone picked this up it's not going to change - it's not going to change anybody's opinion."
One would hope there is something rather more damning than that in all those hours of recordings.

The video is 8 years old. This was Al Capone's basement all over again.

Note: the story is so huge it is breaking the internet... and there is not one mention of it on Reuters or the AP.

Anonymous Pony1 February 23, 2017 12:11 PM

Seems like they didn't get much, if part of the announcement is a bounty for any new evidence.

Not to mention CNN pretty much wears its bias on its sleeve these days...

Not that most of the public would care anyways... you know when you are fighting "Hitler" pretty much everything is permitted.

Anonymous RevDanTheMan February 23, 2017 12:15 PM

The audio revelations may be 'ho hum' to those who have been paying attention, BUT they can be used to sway the fence sitters (of whom there are MANY). Having concrete proof also works for those who have trouble connecting the dots.

One more brick.

Blogger Durandel Almiras February 23, 2017 12:18 PM

The Russians did it! O'Keefe is a Putin spy!

Jokes aside, I too hope there is a verbal bomb in all of that audio.

Blogger J A Baker February 23, 2017 12:18 PM

I look back at clips of Jake Tapper and Rachel Maddow and others that were produced leading up the election, and they make these rediculous predictions, and they flash all of these fake polls. So in hindsight, I'm watching these clips, and what's interesting is that I get the feeling that I'm listening to a used car salesman try and sellexplain a lemon, and I realize that it's not that these people were dead wrong, (which they were dead wrong), but that they knew the truth all along. These shills had the real polls, they knew Hillary was losing bad and that Trump was ahead and was set to win by a landslide, but they hoped, that if they could convince enough people of that the opposite was true, that maybe, just maybe it would in some way turn the tide, but watching these old clips, listening to them babble and watching their body language it's so apparent that they don't believe in what they were selling.

It's more confirmation of what we already expect from CNN. Although he doesn't have the time to review every tape, seems like he could have given us more bits to reflect on.

"One would hope there is something rather more damning than that in all those hours of recordings." Exactly my thoughts. Maybe O'Keefe is building up.

A team of ten people could review the tapes in about a weeks time.

Anonymous Leatherwing February 23, 2017 12:32 PM

I like O'Keefe, but wish he would tone down the marketing. If you have something truly explosive, it will explode. The info he provides is damning, but doesn't live up to the hype.

Blogger Timmy3 February 23, 2017 12:41 PM

He is holding back 100 more hours of tapes.

Blogger bearspaw February 23, 2017 12:44 PM

Alex Jones sratred refering to the enablers, the Tappers and Maddows and Mahers, in the MSM as Renfields. How apt.

Anonymous FP February 23, 2017 12:50 PM

"A team of ten people could review the tapes in about a weeks time."

But experts tell us it takes 300 men to analyze that much data in a week. Clearly it is the Russians, in conjunction with the Greys, the reverse Vampires and the Saucer people (who are NOT the Greys, you bigot).

I got the same impression to a large extent, perhaps it was a mixture of confirmation bias due to existing in a bubble and never allowing for contrary opinions or possibilities mixed with the belief that there was side was righteous and therefore going to win. Most of all it might have been the conviction that if they could just hold the line then this next scandal/setback/gaffe will definitely finally topple the God Emperor In Waiting.

If anybody still hasn't seen one of the many videos of news clips of Trump's campaign set to "In The Hall of the Mountain King" you really must. Solid gold.

The last few times Veritas made a big release it got dismissed by the MSM on the basis that it was "edited." Same thing happened when we caught Planned Parenthood running baby chop shops for fun and profit.

Note: The MSM didn't buy that argument for one second for the Trump/Billy Bush tape or the Milo/Rogan tape. Although, in the latter case at least, we actually had a case where the argument seemed to apply.

So, as I understand it, O'Keefe has chosen to do more of a WikiLeak-style release. Rather than to put out selected highlights, and therefore getting dismissed immediately for editing, he's going to time-release the whole raw shebang.

Remember the first day WikiLeaks released the Podesta emails? Everybody was disappointed because there was no big explosive gotcha smoking gun. But, with a little patience, fruit began to emerge.

I actually knew a girl that worked there many years ago. She quit because of how left winger it was in there.

This new troll is very boring compared to the contingent that showed up in that thread yesterday.

Those who employed deceit to oppose Donald Trump sure seem to be having an extraordinary run of bad luck lately. Who's next?

Anonymous genericviews February 23, 2017 1:27 PM

It's all just a clever ploy to get people to listen to CNN again. For about 220 hours.

Blogger Were-Puppy February 23, 2017 1:32 PM

I've actually grown a knack for transcribing lately :P Maybe I'll look into doing a little of that for PV.

Earlier this week, I received a call from the Republican National Committee, asking if I still supported Trump. I said, "Definitely." Then, they asked if I could show that support by making a donation to the RNC. I almost laughed in his face. I said, "I'm not donating anything to the RNC anymore until they do something to deserve it."

The Caller: "Well, we're hearing a lot of people say that, but Trump IS the RNC right now, and you'll remember that Reince supported Trump. So by supporting the RNC, you ARE supporting Trump. We need the money for ads."

Me: "What good do ads do when the republicans aren't doing what their voters want?"

The Caller: "It supports Trump."

Me: "Hah! From now on, or at least until something changes, I'm only donating to individual candidates, because I'm not seeing a lot worth supporting out of the regular republicans right now."

The Caller: "Well, but your support wouldn't be going to support people like Ryan or McConnell. (Yes, he mentioned them by name, without my prompting.) It's going to support Trump."

Me: "You're wasting your time. I support Trump, but until I see something worth supporting from the republicans in congress, I'm not donating anything. And please remove me from your caller list."

Some takeaways here:
Obviously, the RNC is getting some flack from people who used to call themselves republicans or conservatives.

McConnell and Ryan are mentioned by name, as reasons why people won't donate.

Trump Supporters do not equal RNC supporters, and increasingly, former republicans are voicing these thoughts and refusing to donate.

BTW, I donated several hundred dollars to Trump. It wasn't anything compared to big donors, but it does seem that it's adding up.

All this to say, CPAC is really out of touch if they think they've got the pulse of us former Tea Party types.

Anonymous gxg February 23, 2017 2:06 PM

Dang it. My bad. The above comment was meant to go on the CPAC thread. Sorry about that.

Doubt anything can beat the "Mind control is our job" comment from Mika Stalinofskivitchdavitovichski on Morning Joe, which everyone else on the show totally ignored.

@22
This is dangerous. It seems like the manipulated civil war the democrats want in order to take back the house and senate is starting to manifest.

I don't like a lot of these guys but do you really want the DNC in control and impeaching Trump?

aew51183 wrote:@22 I don't like a lot of these guys but do you really want the DNC in control and impeaching Trump?

This is why I now give to individual candidates, meaning those who actually fight. I don't want a single penny going to Ryan/McConnell/McCain or whatever republican isn't doing squat to conserve anything, or worse, is actually working to undermine Trump. In fact, I donated AGAINST Ryan by supporting his opponent in the primary, and I'd do so again.

The RNC isn't looking out for my interests. We gave them the house, then the Senate, and now the presidency. Trump (and his team) aside, they're doing fuck-all with it. If they want my money, they need to earn it.

@1 The video is 8 years old. This was Al Capone's basement all over again.

Only this time Gerry Rivers knows there's nothing in the vault, promotes viral curiosity, and calls a press conference anyway!

At least it's not as bad as the segway rollout which began a YEAR before release and had high profile celebrities talking all mysterious about how it was going to change the way we build cities, yada yada yada!

When I read this "Breaking News" and watched the video, I thought, "I sure hope there's more than this!

If not, Veritas is gonna take a hit for this. To match the hype, this release should have been a Kill Shot. It's not.

Blogger Matthew February 23, 2017 3:37 PM

No one's buying your bullshit, shill.

Anonymous BBGKB February 23, 2017 3:38 PM

Any bets they did another filming at Comet Pizza other than the inauguration attack planning one?

The Russians did it! O'Keefe is a Putin spy!

The black spy on the Maher/Milo show said it would take 300 agents months to do a simple keyword search for Pennsylvania as proof Putin is pulling strings for TRUMP.

I don't like a lot of these guys but do you really want the DNC in control and impeaching Trump?

If you give to the individual candidates less money will be siphoned off for hookers and blow(in the DC area)

Blogger Kona Commuter February 23, 2017 3:42 PM

I hope this hasn't been over hyped. There is only so much "explosive" revelations the public will accept before they start ignoring them.

The anti-Trump crowd have well over played their hysteria. In 6 months time Trump could set up literal death camps and only the most hardcore leftists will turn up to protest with the vast majority of the population celebrating the Riot Police crack down.

I don't want to see the left get a pass on Pizzagate because after a thousand "You won't believe what happened next" (hint - nothing) press releases the public can't even be bothered reading the article

Blogger Cail Corishev February 23, 2017 4:26 PM

To match the hype, this release should have been a Kill Shot. It's not.

Thanks for listening to 119 hours of audio already, and investigating all the references in it. Saves us all tons of work.

All this to say, CPAC is really out of touch if they think they've got the pulse of us former Tea Party types.

I know you meant this for the CPAP thread, but so what?
RNCe is clearly scrambling, because the Trump train isn't nearly as easy to shunt onto a quiet siding as the TEA party was, and you as a former TEA Partier know better than a lot of others just how that was done.

Fool me once, shame on me. It also shows RNCe is still clueless about who they are trying to co-opt.

With Mika Brzezinski openly whining about Trump taking away their job of controlling what people think, what else is there to be seen behind the stage that can't be seen on TV?

Blogger Sagramore February 24, 2017 9:55 AM

This ranks up there with the story about the time I worked a push poll for Ralph Klein at Ipsos Reid. Poor Darryl, an employee like me thinking it was actually about ethics.
