It'll be interesting to see how Trump handles this, I think the smart move would not be to crack down hard at this stage. Sending in the National Guard would likely play into the hands of the Antifa and I think it's what the globalists want; they want to provoke a strong reaction which they can use as propaganda. Trump remembers the protests of '60s, the reaction made bad optics and was used for decades against the government and Nixon. Arguably they didn't have a choice back then, but defunding the universities would be a great move, even if only partially or temporarily (Japan, for example, recently defunded liberal arts courses). Doing this reveals who the real foes and puppetmasters are. His supporters and the public would grasp that in a way they maybe wouldn't have during the old anti-war movement. If this tape is real it would give him all the excuse he needs.
In any case, he will have to tackle the universities and education at some point if he wants to help make America great again. I'm sure he knows that.
As a staff person who has worked at a 'minority' serving academic institution, I can tell you that the public universities skim a lot off the top of the grants whether federal, state, or private. Most of the research to say the least is worthless uninspiring crap. I used to joke with a professor that I regarded as somewhat competent about how his research will only read by his peer review committee and then published in the journal read by nobody.
The federal loans also need to be cut off ASAP.
We need to campaign for more "Hey, this is library!" minorities to start stepping up and taking some of the heat off of us.

While I understand the charm of defunding universities, the federal funding is mostly STEM research funding. If it gets pulled, that will paradoxically shift most of the power to the humanities faculty and leftist crazies, while many more moderate STEM faculty and staff lose their jobs.

Defunding the Marxists is a great idea. One way might be to ban student loans to any student at a 4-year school who hasn't passed calculus. Combine this with a set of libel laws which forbid schools and businesses from requiring anyone to enrol or participate in anything which spreads hatred of White people or Western culture. Without loans for the mpai's and the rest busy studying real material, the Marxist indoctrination and "sensitivity training" courses would be empty.
Frankly, there should be no federal student loans for any courses other than STEM or degrees in such. Want to be an expert in Transgenders of the Paleolithic age, then pay for it yourself.

Better is for Trump to change the student loan program to require schools to co-sign for all loans. Useless degrees end up costing the universities real money. Let's stop right there. The federal government has no business making student loans, period. If there's value in such loans, let private businesses make them. If the federal government has to make (or guarantee) them because private lenders don't think the recipients will be able to pay them back, that tells us everything we need to know about the value of what they're buying.
