BREXIT is go

The British Parliament removes the last of the procedural obstacles to BREXIT:
Theresa May has finally won the power to trigger Article 50 after peers backed down and passed the Brexit Bill after two crucial votes in the Commons earlier. MPs followed orders to delete an amendment on guaranteeing the rights of EU nationals, backing the Government 335 to 287, majority 48.

The Commons also defeated the second amendment on the timetabling of votes at the end of the negotiation by a majority of 45. Peers then debated the deletions but did not offer any further resistance. It means the historic legislation will be law by tomorrow.
Nationalists around the world can only be pleased to see the British people regaining their sovereignty and independence. There can be no doubt that the 200-year trend towards globalization has been reversed.

Another good first step. Now an important question.

A toast is in order. More than one. What shall we hoist to commemorate it?

Claret? Ale? Port? Gin? Porter? A rum punch?
It's important to toast correctly, details matter.

I've referred to it as a trend toward "centralization", of which globalization would be the last stage, I guess. And I certainly agree that we are now firmly in the counter-trend of "de-centralization", which began in the latter half of the last century, just as the centralization trend began in earnest at the beginning of the 19th century.

It's quite a reversal, for sure.

Excellent.

Brexit is necessary, though not sufficient, to uncuck the UK and Make Britain Great Again.

It's a yuge big beautiful step in the right direction though, the most significant change for the better in the British political climate since Maggie Thatcher (peace be upon her).

Two years ago it looked unlikely we'd ever get out of the EU short of the whole thing collapsing around us. The vast majority of the political establishment, the public sector, the unions, the universities, the big charities, the big corporates, churches, celebrities and Barack Hussein Obama all told us we were cranks, fools and racists for wanting our country back.

Lest we forget, the only reason we got a referendum was because David Cameron wanted a cheap, expendable manifesto promise to stop his voters defecting to the bothersome Nigel Farage and UKIP. Cameron never thought he'd win a parliamentary majority - another coalition would've seen him jettison the referendum idea faster than Phil Sandifer haring after a free bucket of chicken - and he certainly never dreamed, after he won the election and had no excuse not to hold the referendum, that he'd actually lose the bloody thing.

I'm not really all that demonstrative about my national pride. Few British people are. But my heart grew three sizes that day when I scanned the news after the referendum. We did it, against all the odds, all the lies and scares and gaslighting from the insufferably smug twatocracy of smirking, simpering nonentities who told us Britain was finished.

Things are changing for the better, slowly, and unevenly, but change is in the air. This is our glasnost. The old, decrepit, shabby lies of globalism and multicult are curling up at the edges, soon to peel away.

It's also had a salutary effect on our friends in Holland and France, and I pray Wilders and Le Pen can keep the momentum going.

Even should they stumble, my sense is that the annus mirabilis of 2016 represented the high water mark of globalist poz, the point where normal people decided that we'd had enough. A historic turning point that we'll never get tired of telling our grandkids about.

Jolly well done Britain!! I think Parliament finally decided that jobs and a good economy following a trade deal with us is a good thing.

Since so much of the Scots population is on the government dole, I am wondering if the rest of the population is truly ready to take that on.

Do they really have the Grit to take on actual independence with all their lack of financial stability? Will they willingly break their hold on the English wallet that sustains them?

Something else I saw after the last referendum failed was that the EU may not want Scotland. It would be like having a new version of Greece and all their debt to deal with. Right now with all the problems, they may not want Scotland in their little gang.

Greetings from Scotland ! I voted for Brexit so we can get independence from the EU, the Scots independence issue is a bit more nuanced, the SNP want to join the EU, thus making a mockery of their stated aim of "Independence" - they are just faux-nationalists shilling for globalists. Many Scots voted for independence (myself included) as they don't like the Westminster elite, and in rural areas want land reform ie - they don't like the "toff" sporting estates - it may interest you to know that 20% of the rural land in Scotland is owned by "Offshore" shell companies, amongst other scams. It does not mean to say they will vote to break up the union this time around ( I won't be) due to the fact that it would mean living in a one party SNP state - the censorship of "hate speech" laws are more rigorously enforced in Scotland than anywhere else in the UK, and the SNP is very pro-muslim/immigrant.

Blogger Jonathan Wales March 14, 2017 4:51 AM

Yesterday, I saw Brexit being linked to the price rises at Wetherspoons.
