Crazy SJW lies and libels

Robert L Hood, aka Rev. Bob of File 770 is now publicly libeling me on Amazon under his fake Customer Review.

"Theodore Beale, aka Vox Day, has placed himself on the record as approving of people calling one-star reviewers and falsely representing themselves as Castalia House employees under the guise of "customer service.””

This is not true and Robert L Hood, aka Rev. Bob knows it. I will certainly admit to being amused by a fake Customer expressing fake Customer dissatisfaction in a fake Customer Review being contacted by a fake Customer Service representative. It tends to strike me as fitting. But I do not approve of anyone falsely representing themselves as Castalia House employees for any purpose, I have never authorized anyone to do so, nor have I ever issued retroactive authorization to anyone who did so.

As for people calling fake reviewers, my position on fake reviews has been clear since I was a professional nationally syndicated reviewer for Chronicle Features in the early 1990s: I approve of presidential drone strikes on fake reviewers.

Now, what could explain Mr. Hood's false and inappropriate accusations? Oh, right, he's crazy, even by SJW standards:
As someone who’s been on brain meds for over two decades, can I speak up to say how offensive I find it when people equate “crazy, insane, psycho” with all mental illnesses?

Being depressed doesn’t make you insane.
Having a bad memory doesn’t make you crazy.
Feeling suicidal doesn’t make you a psycho.
We have contacted Amazon Customer Support and asked them to review all reviews by unverified purchasers, including Mr. Hood's. They have confirmed that they will do so, and I expect their eventual response will be illuminating concerning what is, and what is not, considered to be in violation of their Community Guidelines.

No, but conducting a campaign of harassment and constantly lying about something or someone associated with a person you don't like in the interests of hurting them AND THEN bringing up your emotional difficulties as a justification for acting like this does.

If the final word is that TOR was encouraging this, then I'd say a libel case could be made here.

This is the worst thing you could've done in this situation, ie having a disadvantaged person who believes that he has been a victim of harassment that was encouraged by yourself, named as a target for your fans. Which is what you have done by singling him and his review out like this!!

Bear in mind that he claims that he intends to bring this to court if need be.

I am sure he will... The problem with his claims is his own behavior needs to be squeaky clean, and he needs to have evidence of some type of crime. I am highly suspicious about his assertion that someone called him and that he was threatened. Any normal person would contact the police and cease contact with their harasser. That is not how he is currently behaving. I suspect his tale is made up and that is why he is not pursuing criminal charges.

I do love the SJW defense of crying out while striking their opponents though.

Blogger dc.sunsets March 24, 2017 11:12 AM

What is it about people who openly admit they are prescribed psychotropic medications? I think I figured it out.

For a very long time, the more "damaged" or "unable" a person claimed to be, the more they were encouraged to force other (less damaged, more able) people to contribute to their happiness.

This set off a whole industry whose purpose is to provide "documents" (often in the form of diagnoses) enabling ever more bizarre claims of defect. (BPD moms obviously doc-shop for a diagnosis for their little monsters to insure no school employee can discipline said kiddie, and the normal students are forced to tolerate whatever Lord-of-the-Flies behavior said kid exhibits.)

Debating with self-described behaviorally aberrant people (I'm with Szasz on the myth of mental illness) is singularly annoying to me. I can't tolerate them and I'm not legally allowed to act on my otherwise sensible impulses.

PS: Encouraging people to be as defective as possible is apt to turn out VERY badly for them when this long boom ends. Who will wish to in-group with cat-guano crazies? No, they'll find themselves in No-Man's-Land between enraged groups coalescing into warring factions.

Cheers!

I remember being piled on once on a forum by suggesting that the Internet in general and the average comment box in particular is not a group therapy session, and somebody who is so emotionally or psychologically fragile should simply stay away from large swaths of the Internet. This was true when people congregated on Usenet and Lambda MOO, and it's true today.

If you're depressed and on neurological drugs, it's not empowering to give you a soap box to spout off, because you're not in a position to take the criticism. It's the kind thing to do for people around you to take your keyboard away and give you only the Bing home page and the Google image search screen.

It's not freedom to put give a 12 year old a bottle of wine and a Camaro. It's not freedom to put somebody who is already mentally off in a situation where they're going to engage in nameless, faceless bloodsport argumentation on the Internet. That guy's friends and family should have him hang it up and look pretty pictures.

This could be the only, rapidly closing window of opportunity, before we're too big to take down. Is the enemy reloading? Or is the enemy feinting, and ready to shoot when you poke your head up? You don't know. That is the excitement of the battle.

Anonymous Stephen J. March 24, 2017 11:23 AM

It probably falls under SJW Rule #1 in final analysis, but I've always thought there are enough examples of it that it was worth a sub-rule, or even a Rule #4: SJWs Always Move The Goalposts.

In this particular instance, something Vox states which is clearly tongue-in-cheek ("It's just good customer service to get in touch with unhappy customers. ...I certainly appreciate the efforts of the public to help Castalia continue to provide such excellent customer service. ...One of our dedicated, albeit self-appointed, customer service representatives called a dissatisfied customer this morning.") is being taken as a literal admission of approval, whereas anything questionable that has been said on, say, Vile666 about recommending violence as an appropriate response to disagreement is regularly excused as unserious hyperbole whenever challenged.

Or as Screwtape observed, "Your patient must demand that all his own utterances are to be taken at their face value and judged simply on the actual words, while at the same time judging all {other} utterances with the fullest and most oversensitive interpretation of the tone and the context and the suspected intention. ...Once this habit is well established you have the delightful situation of a human saying things with the express purpose of offending and yet having a grievance when offence is taken."

Eh, it's channers. It's possible someone did say something vaguely threatening/creepy. 'I know where you live' and all that. Don't really see them pretending to be doing the customer service thing at the same time.

But what I find more likely is that he felt threatened by the calls. Pointing out something he was wrong at, perhaps. Well, unless he's threatened by offers of free ebooks or something.

Au contraire. Add a little SJW convergence and a white knight or two, then you get Safe Space Pabulum. This is exactly what got me essentially kicked off the Colloquy Society discussion list. A cat-shit crazy (on psychotropics by her own statement) woman couldn't stop baiting me so I went Genghis Khan. Two white knights later, the group went back to snoozing somnolence in my absence. Reading the discussion is far more effective than Ambien in curing insomnia.

They never sued us over anything. They were just trying to intimidate us into returning part of our advance because they were in a cash crunch. We sued them because they would not a) pay us for the approved milestone or b) cut the project, as the contract required.

They didn't want to have to write it off, which (b) would have required. Needless to say, they went bankrupt not too long afterwards.

He is not afraid of having his position doxxed, he is just sparing you of the PAIN of meeting such an intergalactic genius such as his. Your verbal tenses are so shitty that Bob made his own language made entirely of verbal tenses and called it Voxish. You Vox, have no chance against such a superior alpha male, look at his beard! That is made entirely of testosterone created of cholesterol in the air! That is how Alpha this man is!

He doesn't feel suicidal, he says that because he has no words to describe how it's like to transcend mere human existence and reach his level of clarity. He stands alone in mountain K2 while people are trying to climb their treehouses! You don't understand this man's genius bro! You suck Vox! You suck because you don't understand that the caller was actually his own mind talking to himself, how else would he feel threatened by anyone if not by himself. Bob has a split personality, created by himself, through the force lf his mind!

You are a nobody Vox, when compared to the amazingness of Bob. Bob is saving your costumers from shitty literature today, your shitty literature, because he can see into the future and he has already predicted all books and he know just by seeing those awkward verb tenses, Castalia House is not part of the great literature revolution Bob has prophesized.

In summation, all hail Bob.

Castalia House deserves praise for encouraging people to take up reading again. The first verified purchase 1-star review of The Corroding Empire has appeared and it's from an account that had one book review since 2003.

A comment in response to the review: "The author, editor, and publisher of this book should be honored by this review as it's only the second book reviewed by this account on Amazon going back to 2003. It's very exciting to see people moved to begin reading again after so many years."

It's standard procedure for leftists to point at something they think can make you look bad, then shriek about it for all to hear. Mark Shea had several of this type among his commenters. That's why I can tell he's gone over to the cuck side. But someone who has his own blog displaying a tendency to point and shriek...Can't that get you shut down if you miss?

@dc.sunsets

"For a very long time, the more "damaged" or "unable" a person claimed to be, the more they were encouraged to force other (less damaged, more able) people to contribute to their happiness."

Exactly. Intersectionality. Pokémon points. Victimhood competition. The idea that one achieves status through greater victimhood, not greater achievement.

"BPD moms obviously doc-shop for a diagnosis for their little monsters"

Uh-- tranny kids, perhaps? Though the benefit there is more attention/ publicity for the mom.

"I'm with Szasz on the myth of mental illness)"

Well, it's hard to see schizophrenia as a myth. But sure, there's a lot of behaviors that are currently labeled as "mental illness" are exacerbated, rather than alleviated, by treating them as such. "Oppositional defiant disorder," anyone?

The Long March of the Reviews:

Dave found one of the fake reviewers who hadn't reviewed a book since 2003. I came across one with the impressively inapt name of M1rth, who'd done a fair number of reviews, but hadn't given a rating above 1-star since 2011.

I read the article and some comments before remembering the church of the sub genius. I am so slow.

I don't understand why you still seem to care. I just looked it up and it's basically just Mensa with tone-policing, which would be catnip to mildly intelligent SJWs.

You're better off here with people who are actually smart enough to understand you, and who think it's funny that you would dare to put yourself and Genghis Khan in the same sentence. (I guess compared to mindkilled prisses...)

I'm sorry but it's true.

Elmer, you published an ebook, I downloaded it and then I got a job. This sequence of events was positive. I don't know what more I can say.
