Do what we want and we promise to be nice

Do they really think the God-Emperor is likely to fall for what has to be the third-oldest card in the SJW deck?
For about the thousandth—or is it the millionth?—time, the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal has attacked Donald Trump. But this time there’s a twist. The Journal’s latest hit-piece targets Trump’s top advisers, Stephen K. Bannon and Stephen Miller, both champions of the populist nationalist policies that propelled Trump to victory.

In their February 27 editorial, the Journal’s editorial board argues that President Trump is acceptable only if he supports the Journal-approved agenda of tax cuts and deregulation, which Trump does. However, Trump’s signature issues of economic nationalism and border security are most definitely not acceptable. The Journal calls these positions “Bannonism”—and that’s not meant as a compliment to Steve.

In reality, the Journal knows that “Bannonism” is really just “Trumpism.” Trump embraced economic nationalism and border security long before he ever met Bannon or Miller, whom he refers to as “my two Steves.”  Of course, that’s why the Journal’s editorialists have opposed Trump all along. But now they’re pretending that Trump could be forgiven for his populism, if only he rids himself of his two Steves.
What is funny is when you find yourself on both sides of this wheedling offer. SJWs were trying to get me to disavow Roosh at the same time others were trying to get Milo and Mike Cernovich to disavow me.

Needless to say, no one bit. The Left clearly thinks our memories are regularly erased on the same short-term schedule as theirs are.

I read in a comments section somewhere, "I don't know what's true, but I do know that whatever bad things (so-and-so news org) says about Trump are lies."

People prefer truth (or at least confirmation bias.) If they can't have that, they'll go with NOTHING rather than what they deem lies.

The MSM has successfully played their role in this vast pageant; a large and rapidly growing segment of the populace now believes they publish largely lies.

WaPo, NYT, WSJ, Gannett, USAToady, the TV/cable networks, etc., etc., all now have created their very own corporate Poseidon Adventures.

I wonder how long it will take for them to outlast their owners' appetite for financial losses while tilting at their own windmills and bailing their own Titanics?

What did Trump think was going to happen when he handed the SJWs the Flynn confession? Did he really think it would make anything stop? He did the same with the Jewish grave vandalism hoax. Now he's done it with Sessions. Trump needs to read SJWs always. Giving in to media-concocted hoax narratives like "Flynn misled", "rising antisemitism" and "Sessions compromised" only encourages more attacks. I'll bet Trump wishes he had a time machine so he could go back and make the right decision about Flynn.

The "media" follow, they don't lead, and they lag badly at turns. Their antics get funnier by the day.

I liken them to a drum major waving his baton ahead of the band, who thinks he leads until one day the band makes a right turn behind him and he responds by waving his baton twice as hard, even blowing his whistle twice as loud as they march away.

BTW, the Sousaphone player in back took a moment to turn and flip him the bird while wearing a Pepe-smirk. "Feelz Good-Man."

"What did Trump think was going to happen when he handed the SJWs the Flynn confession?"

You've got it backwards. Trump doesn't care about their petty narratives. Flynn's actions got him fired, the media only highlighted an actual discrepancy. Sessions' recusal was unnecessary but not wrong and pretty much irrelevant.

Alinsky Rule #1: "Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have."

Trump isn't playing politics or the media game of gotcha, he's the President. The top CEO. He does what he wants and is not in the least bit intimidated or coerced by the media. They're locked in here with HIM.

He's been systematically dismantling them via #FakeNews for months now. They were 88% hostile to him in his first month. He's goading them into being transparently partisan and they're too stupid and corrupt not to take the bait.

So, despite them being absolutely opposed to him for two years, what power does the media ACTUALLY hold over Trump? None.

Chill, he's got this.

While I've been a tad concerned about Jared Kushner being a senior advisor, there's some deeply brilliant logic in having him around. Because attacking Kushner is attacking a highly connected NY Democrat family (see his father Charles) and a proxy attack on Trump & Ivanka. So you end up attacking a Jew married to the smoking hot Ivanka, who is Trump's daughter. Most Americans will have issues attacking any combination of: Jews, Politician's Daughter, Smoking Hot Woman, Woman with young children.

We've already seen how badly attacking Ivanka's brands has backfired. See previous reasons why.

I doubt he thought any such thing. What he thought was probably that it doesn't matter nearly so much whether the Left *thinks* it's taking scalps as it does whether Flynn is an actual liability. Having let the Left "win" one for his own purposes doesn't mean he's doing it for the reasons he thinks, or even that they're benefiting from it. I don't know what went down with Flynn, but I'm not worried that Trump is going to be prone to throw people under the bus. Maybe he made a mistake, maybe he didn't, but I wouldn't extrapolate from the one incident.

If the Assistant Attorney General of the U. S. at the behest of the President begins his investigation of U. S. Russia relations at the logical starting point, that is, our novel, tradition-breaking, buttony "reset" with Russia, and proceeds slowly and methodically forward from there, reviewing Russian-U.S. lobbying, Russian acquisition of critical U. S. commodities like uranium, etc., etc., the formal recusal of his boss Jeff Sessions becomes not only moot but imminently more efficient: every minute Sessions isn't spending on Russia personally himself is one more minute he has to devote to enforcing immigration law.

The phrase "be careful what you wish for" was pretty much created for Democrats at this sort of juncture, thinking they've taken a scalp, not realizing all they're really waving triumphantly in the air is a toupee.

Blogger Cail Corishev March 03, 2017 2:21 PM

What did Trump think was going to happen when he handed the SJWs the Flynn confession?

Do you think if Trump handled the Flynn or Sessions situations differently, the WSJ wouldn't have written this, or the Left in general would back off for a day?

Come on. We might as well get used to it: Leftists and their cuckservative buddies are going to keep attacking him every day that he's in office. That's about 2900 more days of SJWs calling him LiterallyHitler and cucks saying he'd be great if he just let them teach him some manners. They will not stop, no matter what he does.

So he shouldn't do anything to try to mollify them, but he shouldn't do things he doesn't want to do just to look tough to them, either. Either one would be letting them manipulate him. He should ignore them and continue implementing his platform, doing what he thinks is right about whatever issues pop up along the way. Which is what he's doing.

Blogger Cynic In Chief March 03, 2017 2:22 PM

Trump is likely A/B testing how to handle the media. He attacked them and stood firm the first month. Now he's giving in to a few of their reasonable demands and seeing how that is turning out. Once he determines that nothing will satisfy them, he'll go back to waging war on them. Trump has patterns and visible techniques, but few in the swamp will pull their heads out of their asses and take note.

While in theory this is true, in practice I question if it really shakes out that way. Based on casual observation protection details have tended to stay loyal to their protectees first above all else. I believe about a year ago there was a story about the secret service aiding Pelosi in breaking multiple local laws in San Fran.

I was making the same argument about the Msm the other day. They make the critical mistake of assuming that everyone is just like them. To me, Rathergate is still a fresh stain on their reputation. At this rate, it will end up as religious doctrine that news reporters are in an immoral line of work, akin to thieves.

I believe the Secret Service has the discretion to violate some laws to ensure they maintain proper protection. For example, I doubt they'd let any local cop handcuff and cart away the person they are assigned to protect. But, a proper warrant served at home, for example, and confirmed valid by Secret Service HQ, would, I am sure, not be ignored.

I'm more concerned that Trump is agreeing not to arrest illegal aliens at protest rallies or in churches. The idea that a church in the US offers sanctuary to criminals is absurd and needs to be eradicated. The same applies to the concept that illegals can congregate and safely protest without consequence. Just a few ICE raids on churches and rallies would go a long way toward establishing law and order.

I doubt that holds true for Hillary, though.

That kind of treatment doesn't really foster much loyalty.

Sorry, that should be @63

Edward II and Richard II, your offices are calling. This is the oldest story in the book...don't attack the king directly, but plead that the king would be good if only he rid himself of these terrible advisors. As soon as the close advisors are gone, kill the king.

Trump is right not to fall for this. If he did, he'd have no business trying to run the country.

This is going to be a long 4 years for the rabid left.

Four?

No surprise here. Call it the last stand of Pogrom Paranoids. Bret Stephens, Max Boot, & Paul Gigot: shilling for open borders since forever. No western nation can be allowed to remain too homogenous, too white, too Christian. All such nations must submit to our open borders social engineering scheme to avoid ever becoming intolerant. This is the last stand of the wretches who waged war on Tom Tancredo, Pete Wilson, Pat Buchanan, Prop 187, Prop 200, & any other pro-sovereignty voice of the past 3 decades. So long & good riddance to the inheritors of Bob Bartley's one world dementia.

A bit off-topic, there's that video from Paul Joseph Watson talking of the Deep State War on Trump.

And thanks to the headlines of the Drudge Report https://archive.is/TT86A. We know now then Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi had throwed a rock from a house of glass.

If Drudge's latest mocking of the Ds is anything it is more proof I'm correct that the left has the mind of a woman. An upset woman grasps for the nearest thing and flings it, never thinking it thru

Classic article.

Not to mention that he actually refers to the Pritzkers by name...

Yeah, this is bad. Highest priority for deportation (even higher than alien felons) should be illegal aliens featured in the media or trying to influence US politics. Heck, try taking part in a political demonstration in Mexico as a foreign national. The cops won't care that you're in the country legally-- you're outta there. Many such cases.

Give Trump 2 more weeks so he can get Coats and Rosenstein into position then, I think, heads will start rolling pretty quickly.
